I love the atmosphere of this bar! The entrance behind a bookshelf is really cool! The drinks are amazing. I definitely recommend Quintessence.

This bar "speak low" is located in the French Concession area of Shanghai. I used to go there a lot. This bar is run by Shingo Gokan, one of the world's top bartenders. The famous bar, ranked second in Asia's Best Bars, attracts customers from all over the world. The way you enter is very unique. At first glance, the building looks like a shop that sells cocktail goods, but if you slide one shelf in the store, you will find a hidden entrance that leads to the back, and beyond that is "speak low". increase. This recreates the Prohibition era. It's always crowded with customers and the cocktails are delicious. A must-visit spot in Shanghai.

It was packed the Saturday night I came in, so I didn't get food and just had one cocktail, but I still walked away impressed. The bar felt plucked right out of the heights of of the cocktail renaissance of SF and NYC, complete with the suspender-wearing bartenders (but no waxed mustaches). The ice cubes were oversized and clear as glass, tiki drinks were swizzled with a bois lele, the bartenders stirred and shook with panache. And of course my drink was excellent. I had an interesting negroni riff loaded with spices. I wish I could've tried more. The vibe of the place was great. Service was excellent. The music they had going on the background was an especially fascinating throwback to 2010s big American city cocktail culture: a mix of minimal techno, deep house, and Brainfeeder-style hip hop beats. I can't recommend this place enough and I'm eager to come back when I can actually get a seat at the bar.

10 stars! My favorite bar in the world with the best drink I've ever had in my life (Charlie Brown). Cannot recommend this place enough if you like great cocktails and a really cool speakeasy type of vibe. If you go to the third floor, remember where you are to get in!

Do not leave Shanghai without an evening at Speak Low! I promise you wont be disappointed. The unique drink menu and exclusivity makes for a wonderful evening. The entrance is disguised with bookshelves. Be sure to ask to go upstairs to the second bar and if youre lucky enough, youll be invited further up to a 3rd bar. Each drink is presented in a unique fashion. Each bar inside has a different menu.

Very nice ambience and cocktails! Staff are friendly as well. The place doesn't take reservations and gets crowded easily during weekends-better come early or late enough to grab a seat.

Very very exceptional bar - had requested an impromptu cocktail with Chinese liquor. Got a very well mixed cocktail with Maotai and Rum base that combined the unique umami fragrant note from the Maotai and the sweetness of the rum. And since the cocktail had no name as yet, I had offered to name it Jiang Jin Jiu 将进酒 (An Invitation to Drink) in reference to the Li Bai poem of the same name 「人生得意须尽欢 莫使金樽空对月」 "The imperative in life is to indulge in the pleasure to one's satiation Let not the golden chalice lay empty 'neath the pale moonlight"

Unbelievably crowded with no crowd control. Would be a much better experience if was managed differently.

👍👍 The best place for Xiao Long Bao - soup dumplings. You will most likely need to queue here. We arrived on a weekday at around 12.20pm and didn't get seated until around 1.15pm. Although, we walked past here the next day at around the same time to visit a soup dumpling place opposite, and the queue...

👍 Basically, it fits well with Koreans. The representative foods are Mapo tofu and Dongpa meat, so you can add a side dish of vegetables. And I will recommend deusigil as white rice rather than fried. It was more delicious.
