Now I get what everyone is raving about when they talk about the food here. I had the beef and sausage sandwich and it was Delicious. Truly unique to anything I've ever had. The gravy is amazing. If you're OK with a messy, soggy and delicious sandwich then go to Portillo's.

Great burgers. The service is routinely friendly and quick. The location is convenient as it sits right on State Street. The dining room is rather large, so it’s not uncommon to see sports teams or groups gathering for a meal. I would recommend this restaurant to family and friends.

We have been here in person and the hotdogs, tamales, Italian beef was amazing. My husband is from Illinois and we have been there a lot. I ordered this and had it shipped to Washington state. It was so mouth watering amazingly good. I got the hot dogs.

Always good here. My son really loves it he comes all the way up from Atlanta Georgia and wants to eat here every time he comes home.

I had never heard of this place until I was in Illinois visiting my in-laws, but I was very impressed. I had only had a Chicago style hot dog at a Cub game many years previously to this trip. My meal at Portillo's was much better than the Chicago hot dog that I remembered from the past. This restaurant also has a neat history with several past celebrity visitors. This is documented on the walls of the restaurant by signed photos and other memorabilia. Be sire to give this place a try if you are visiting or driving through the area!

First time visiting and loved it! The beef and cheddar on the croissant was amazing. And the chocolate cake is a must have! I wish we had one in NC.

I was told that if I ever came to the Chicago area I HAD to try Portillo's, I'm SO GLAD I did because it was one of the best places from our visit. I had the Italian beefs and sausage sandwich (with cheese and both kinds of peppers) along with a jumbo dog (grilled onions no tomato), fries and a drink. I honestly thought I'd just be getting another all beef Kirkland hot dog with some stuff on top, but that's not what I got AT ALL. I don't know what they do but that hot dog was perfect! I've had Italian beefs but not like this, It was LOADED with peppers and cheese and the sausage was perfectly cooked. I've had places really undercook their sausage and that ruins it, but NOT HERE! When I'm back in the area, I'm definitely going back here!

I don’t like that they don’t take their time with you and don’t confirm my order. I’ve gone twice this past week and both times my order was wrong. I wanted to try the strawberry shortcake since I never have, and they forgot it and then later on “replaced” it when I let them know. I go home, it’s chocolate. I come to Rockford to visit, as I’m from Omaha and I come here specifically because the food is great. Service could be better lately. Other than that, food is always and will always be a staple here!!

First time eating here. The staff were phenomenal, but this one lady working the seating area was the nicest, most informative, hardest working lady! I was extremely impressed with her work ethic and kindness! Unfortunately I was unable to get her name. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The people and food were fantastic. I will definitely stop back there, every time I am in the area!

My first time at one. The italian steak was grey with almost no flavor and the flavor that was there was unpleasant. How do people like their steak? I didn't finish eating it and I don't like go waist food. The sausage was good so I pulled that out of the steak and sausage sandwich I got and ate it alone. The traditional portillo hotdog was good, but what is the point of putting relish and a pickle spear on the same hotdog? French fries are nothing special (not bad).

Anytime you’re near a Portillos stopping in for a bite to eat should be on your mind. The food is overall outstanding, best Italian beef I’ve had in all my travels. They’re Italian sausage, ranks in the top 5 for sure. Actually you won’t find anything on the menu that isn’t delicious. With a large dine in area that’s comfy and surrounded by old time memorabilia, music from the 50s and 60s playing to give you a relaxing feel.

My Italian beef sandwich was to die for! I had a side order of fries and got a slice of chocolate cake to go. This place is always busy so you know the food is great. My friend and I stopped before attending a concert the Coronado theatre. Found parking easy, got our orders quickly, was able to sit and visit before taking off to see our concert. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Very clean place and plenty of seats.

I’ve been dining at Portillo’s for ages. First in Downers Grove and for many years now in Rockford. Great Italian Beef, also as a combo with grilled Italian sausage. Char hamburgers or cheeseburgers with several fixings options. Onion rings and crinkle cut fries with optional cheddar cheese sauce. Many beverage choices including chocolate shakes or malts. Save room for chocolate cake. Cassie the manager and her entire staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend a visit and you’re likely to become a repeat customer. 👍👍👍👍👍 There are also chicken sandwiches and several salad options especially the chopped salad.

Great fun atmosphere, fast ordering, and features food. Inhad the spicy chicken sandwich with fries. My son had the bacon cheeseburger and a chocolate cake shake. They both tasted good with large portions and full strips of bacon. The decore was fun with lots of movie memorabilia. Would recommend.

Portillo’s is my favorite Italian beef in the world, I grew up on it. Now that I live in FL I make it point to get it whenever I can. Work put me thru Rockford and I asked the car service to run me thru the drive thru on the way to Ohare. Got myself a taste of home on the way back to FL. Love this place, always have always will.

Always enjoy getting my Portillos fix. The service can be a little slow at times but the food makes up for it. Jumbo Chicago hot dog, Maxwell St polish , and the chopped salad are my go to , along with Chocolate and seasonal lemon cake.

We ate in, it did take a while as they were pretty busy. The staff was very nice, but the food was excellent!!! Had 1 of my all time favorite family meals with my wife and young children. Love the 50s atmosphere, we were dancing and smiling the whole time.

Absolutely love Portillo's! I'm a regular at this restaurant and I can't get enough of their delicious food. From their mouthwatering hotdogs to their amazing Italian beef, everything is always top-notch. The atmosphere is fun and nostalgic, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Whether I'm dining in or taking out, it's always a great experience. A definite 5-star gem in my book!

Outstanding, this is the best Portillo's I have ever experienced! Runs like a well oiled machine. Dining at 530pm rush hour customer service was amazing, less wait then the Madison stores on a slow day! It was fun to listen to them sing-song order numbers. Double line for Drive thru and the speed order takers were working hars. All food was well portioned, hot fresh and best of all the order was correct! Highly recommend!

We typically go through the drive-thru here and always have a lot pleasant experience. The staff is helpful and the orders are accurate. My husband tells me they NEVER forget the straw! 😆 That’s important! The food is consistent and the chocolate cake is amazing!

Very glad they opened a Portillo's here in Rockford. They have excellent Italian beef sandwiches and hotdogs of all kinds. The fries don't usually get much attention, but in my opinion, I don't think you can find better french fries anywhere in town, especially when they are hot/fresh and well salted. Yes the line can appear very long at certain times when it's busy, but in reality it's almost never a problem because of how fast it moves. Places with apparently shorter lines can take much much longer because of how slow it moves. I think Portillo's is quick because they are well-staffed and skilled in keeping the line moving. It's always been high quality no matter how busy. I go there like once a week and will continue being a loyal customer. I recommend the Big beef instead of the standard Italian beef, because it's exactly the same except that it's 2x the size and only a couple dollars more. Also, the italian beef as it normally comes always has the perfect level of gravy as-is, making it easy to order.

I haven't actually ventured to try the foreal Chicago Style Dog, so for me I just had a plain hot dog and a salad. Was just sort of meh for me compared to all the excitement of Portillos. I haven't given up though, as soon as I get the chance to try it again and maybe try to actual Chicago Style dog, I'll try it 🙂

Cant believe how fast they got us through the longgg line. Food was tasty. A little more pricey than expected but was ok.

Nothing much to say except good food.

I shall start with the good. They always have a long line wrapped around so i was a little weary if I could get food during my lunch break.. and i absolutely did. They definitely get that line moving fast. Next.An awesome burger. Huge. Filled up the entire clamshell. Best onion rings I've ever had. Hands down. Really hit the spot. Now the bad. Had to try the famous chocolate cake shake. Which was good. But I had a significantly large piece of what I think is eggshell in it? Whatever it is its gross. Didn't expect to bite into something crispy in my shake. Not the best ending to my meal needless to say.

Great service for the drive through. Have not been back to the indoors. I know they made their rep on hot dogs but I can't get enough of the Italian beef

Myra was amazing handling an issue for us. My husband is a diabetic and always asks for an extra large water and most of the employees do not give him an extra large water. We even offer to pay for it. On this particular day we were treated so poorly and Myra over hear the conversation and she went above and beyond to fix the issue. What an excellent employee. I can't begin to tell you just how professional she handled everything. If this was my business, this is what kind of employee I would want to have. Myra well done and THANK YOU for being YOU!!!!!

Drive through busy so persons outside took my order. Didn't capture everything, corrected with delivery to.my car, but took 15 minutes to correct the missed item..asked for fresh fries due the wait. Not a problem. Offered a slice of cake for the delay, but didn't receive.

Disappointed. The chicken tenders were tough and had an after taste. Soup was great but they had no crackers. Another employee overheard the conversation and kindly brought croutons and a roll. Very sweet.

The first time we ordered from the catering department, which goes to a corporate number, my order was not ready and they could not locate it the day of my event. I was going to order for another event and decided to call the Rockford location directly. The girl that answered the phone took my order and name. We went to pick it up and they again could not find our order. Luckily the manager on duty was very nice and accommodating and put an order together. I would not recommend Portillos for phone in catering orders.

Delicious! We had burgers and salads. Both were excellent. Staff was friendly and reasonably quick service. We have always liked Portillo's and this location easily lives up to our expectations.

Besides a handful of the younger crew working the employees are super kind and helpful. The food is always amazing. The kiddos absolutely love the cheese fries

Best of the fast food burger joint with many other options. If you like chocolate cake and shakes definitely try the chocolate cake shake. Love getting their sausages in my mouth even if I can't for the whole thing all at once. Maybe one day tho

Couldn't believe how fast they got us through that long line! Order taker was super patient with us. Food was fresh and hot. Only had to take a star down for a little high priced. Definitely good food though.
