By
the
end
of
the
1960s,
there
were
dozens
of
coffee
shops,
bars
and
lounges
in
central
Wellington.
But
with
the
advent
of
television
in
the
early
1960s
coffee
houses
were
on
the
decline.
At
the
same
time,
liquor
laws
were
relaxed
following
a
licensing
referendum
in
1967,
with
hotels
able
to
remain
open
until
10
pm
and
serve
food.
Restaurants
became
more
sophisticated
and
appealing
to
the
new,
more
affluent
and
well-travelled
generation
of
the
1970s.
The
Library
has
taken
inspiration
from
these
heady
days
with
their

What
a
lovely
concept!
The
one
and
only
chocolate
fondue
on
the
WOAP
menu
this
year!
A
plateful
of
treats
for
you
to
dip
into
that
chocolate
goodness!
YUM!
Especially
with
the
fresh
fruit
🍌
🍍,
the
chargrilled
banana
and
the
biscotti,
they
were
best
to
go
with
the
chocolate
fondue!
The
staff
are
currently
working
very
hard
to
figure
out
how
to
keep
that
fondue
warm/hot
and
to
have
a
bigger
flame
🔥!
You
guys
are
doing
really
well
so
keep
up
the
good
work!
Absolutely
love
the
concept
and
thank
you
for
having
this
special
WOAP
dish
this
year!
One
of
the
top
3
dishes
that
caught
my
eyes!
