I was looking forward to staying here but I’ve got to be honest, it was a complete let down. Too many issues and I couldn’t wait to leave. I checked in and asked for my suitcases to be brought up for me by the porter. I kid you not, this took 40 minutes and three phone calls to the reception. The rooms were okay, but not great cleaning. I stayed there for a week so it wasn’t a one off thing. I came back to my ‘cleaned room’ on more than two occasions to find the toilet still had the chemical/cleaning product in it and it hasn’t been flushed. My used tea cup was left at my bedside on more than one occasion. I checked in on a Monday, and I noticed there was no iron or ironing board in the room, for a supposed 4 star hotel this was shocking to me! I called the reception to request 5 different times and I was told someone would bring it up for me. Long story short, I had to wear my outfit like that for my meeting. This was my first day mind you, and NO, it doesn’t get better. The service was very poor, the staff didn’t look bothered or maybe they were overwhelmed; I don’t know. Another thing I found shocking was the poor language barrier. I know Angola is a Portuguese speaking country, but tor a 4 star hotel the customer facing staff should at least be able to communicate properly in English? This was not the case at Hotel Tropico. The front desk was always crowded with people complaining. The food was okay, but they had opening time for the restaurant. And if you wanted to eat outside of those opening times you had to use the other restaurants. I came back one day feeling unwell and Josh wanted a quick meal so I could go to bed by 7pm. I was told the restaurant wasn’t open and that I had to go to the pool side. I wasn’t keen, but I had to eat so I went. 1.5 hours later I left because my pizza order still hasn’t arrived, and I ended up going to the buffet. I never noticed a door man, and if there was, he was not doing his job properly. I could go on and on. It was NOT a good experience, and no I would NOT recommend.

Rooms a clean but oppressive, TV has very limited English channels. There is no info pack in your room - for everything I needed to call reception! Room had a kettle and cup but no coffee, tea, sugar or a spoon! No iron allowed to be used in the room so could not press clothes without laundry service - laundry itself was very good but expensive. Unable to leave credit on account so had to use my credit card rather than put on the bill. Took we 4 days to get a room refund when leaving earlier than planned. I have no idea how banking works but had to be done on same machine as initial payment and this had to have enough credit? I have no idea how this would be managed if an early departure was unforeseen. Breakfast was as ok and a reasonably varied choice. Again though- no tea set up so had to ask for hot water every day, no sugar or teaspoons laid out so had to ask for every day. Just needed to consider the needs of the customer. Never ate food in the restaurant- always seemed empty at night and was very expensive. Room service food generally arrived on time and was reasonable choice and standard - though again I had to pay for each meal on delivery for 11 days! Outside bar area quite welcoming - split in to a couple of areas. Staff were attentive and food served here was quite varied and came quickly. Swimming pool little used in the week but although the pool is triangular so doesn’t suit laps - I used at the weekend at was a nice spot to be. Gym is excellent- has a very well equipped inside area and an outside area for CrossFit type training. Only issue is the millions of flying ant type bugs after 6:30pm! To summarise, I don’t really enjoy the Tropico and prefer other nearby hotels. Certain aspects are quite good but they need to consider the needs of guests much more in their set ups (room info and payment/ refund options) which really impacts the overall experience.

From the security (doorman), front desk to kitchen staff, they services and friendliness is outstanding. The room was great, neat and clean. My heartfelt gratitude goes to the front desk staff and chefs for their impeccable service and meals.

Nice hotel so far. I am in quarantine for 7 days here. Different section of the hotel. The food is acceptable due the circumstances and the stuff is very polite and friendly. When the 7 days pass I will transfer to the section that is actual the Hotel. Until then everything is good.

I was quite impressed with the quality of the place. High standards. The food was mostly good as well. Rooms clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and quick on requests.

Great location. Nice staff. Cleaned rooms. Seafood is delicious. Meat food is not, I don't recommend. All the rooms don't have iron and tables to iron clothes. Every time you need to drink tea you have to ask for boiled water. They don't have conditions for the guest to drink tea/coffee every single time the guest needs. IT WAS COLD WHEN I WAS THERE. TEA/COFFEE WAS NEEDED ALL THE TIME. All in all, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

The hotel is located relatively central, nicely decorated, warm atmosphere, good quality. Have amenities but the pool is small. Rooms are nice and clean, but no kettle, no tee nor coffee at disposal. Sometimes some floors and rooms are really smelling bad like sewage water. Service slow and not really attentive but at least personnel is polite. Restaurant leaves a lot of room for improvement and expensive. Buffet dinner 40000 kz, food not fresh, chewy meats even fresh from the grill, soggy salads and fruits, only basic cheese if any. Asked several times for black pepper during my stays, they just don't have and do nothing to change. Menu refers to use of parmesan chese in some of dishes, but any time asking they never had. Cheap olive oil, vinegar, ketchup mayo served in single serve plastic pouches like at Mcdonald's... true have some in bottles but you need to ask for it. Dessert chioce poor and not good. Really disappoiting restaurant for a 4 star hotel. No wonder that is never busy. Breakfast is ok but boring, during the past 18 month since I am coming here, is loosing on choice and quality. Advice, if you can eat somewhere else.

Tropico has a wonderful location, with the main ministries and corporations nearby as well as being at walking distance to marginal , Luanda waterfront. The rooms are very good with good mattresses and very clean. But the best in Tropico is the team , always very helpful and everyone greets you with a smile.

Rooms are ex quarantine rooms that still smell of stale tobacco/ nicotine. A serious refurbishment is required in this hotel. Definitely not worth the money they charge for a room. Staff are friendly enough and do their best but the rooms let the hotel down unfortunately.

I stayed in your hotel for 1st time 2-6 of November 2022. Enjoyed the stay very much. Good points- Your staff very nice and helpful. Especially at dining room, pool bar and front desk. Comfortable beds and room. Clean and specious. Negative point- Food is very expensive and very poor quality or diversity Overall good experience

One of recommended quarantine and transit hotel by my Company. I was 2 times quarantined in this hotel in different months. Especially during my one night overnight to catch flight, the service was excellent plus front desk helping me to print out my required travel document. Just 1 single annoying condition were the noisy construction work hammering the wall floors right under my room 0127 in morning made me using my ear plug about an hour until my check out time. I recommend the hotel to not putting people at the 1st floor especially if there is a construction work going on.

Was disappointed that a big hotel like this could not provide guests a small thing as a scale. We are international travelers we need to be able to weigh our luggage. Its a basic need.

Good 4 stars hotel in Luanda but should be accepting international means of payment like American Express credit cards. Also gym department is poorly managed and serviced. Except this dept, service is good either for room cleaning or food.

Good cuisine but please avoid pasta. Kind personnel at all level. My negative feedback is due to a sewage smell very often present in the hall and also in the rooms bathrooms. Presence of mosquitos at the 11th floor in a room during quarantine. Difficult to assess their way in air system or tap drainage.

I have stayed at different TD Hotels in Luanda. The staff is great, hotel is clean however there are one thing that they should improve and mimic their sister hotel Baia for improvement. The “always on” WiFi connection at Tropico is constantly cutting off during business calls/meetings and on all Apple devices. The IT department should look at how the WiFi is setup at Hotel Baia and do the same for Tropico. Having stayed at both multiple times I can say this is a problem only at Tropico and would think since they are owned by TD hotels they could fix the problem by simply setting WiFi up the same as Baia. For the money spent minimally an expectation is to have your device/s connected at all times and not cutting off 20-30 times a day.

I spent a week in Tropico Hotel for quarantine before boarding offshore it went very well, room are confortable, staff friendly and efficient, and good food WiFi is ok but a bit slow from time to time

The hotel is very expensive and the level of services offered are very basic and not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel in the middle of Luanda. For example I had a kettle and cup & saucer in my room but no tea or coffee supplied. I ordered room service and waited over 1hr 30 mins only for the wrong meal to be delivered to my room.

Please, include banana 🍌 in the fruits menu due to its importance (energetic and blood pressure and loads of other vitamins and nutrients for our metabolism balance)... Note: Need to emphasize my satisfaction on putting me on the sea view last time I requested...my appreciation on this regard. Thanks and keep up the good work.

It could have been better for me. I didn't like the fact that there is not ironing in the room, not a single tea/coffee packet in the room but there is coffee maker and mug! The hotel cleanliness is good and staff very friendly.

The hotel is beautiful, clean. Front desk service is excellent. Most staff speak good basic English, so communication is not problematic. Could do well to include kettles and coffee in rooms.

I had a great stay at the hotel Tropico. The rooms and restaurant were of a high quality and the service was fantastic. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. The meals were delicious. Of honourable mention is the gym and spa, they are world class facilities. I would highly recommend Hotel Tropico for anyone who is looking to stay in Luanda, whether for business or pleasure.

Very nice hotel, nicely decorated with a very fine and dedicated staff. The rooms and public spaces are very clean. The Portuguese management and their staff are doing a very good job there!

I am currently staying here (5/23 till 6/4) Hotel fine and clean and luxurious. BUT: Only one person at the reception (so long lines to check-in). The hotel charged me for a full day because of early arrival (8am).500 USD. The billing policy at the 2 restaurants is totally erratic: sometimes they don't want cash (Kz). sometimes they charge it to my room (except my beer!!! to be paid in cash) another time they requested credit card. I have never experience this in a hotel of this category. Instant coffee never replenished. I wonder if they are going to ask me to pay upfront for my laundry. No small items for sale in the hotel (books, magazines, newspaper, shaving lather etc..) WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? Very unpleasant to be refused common means of payment at restaurant/bar. No manager?

Not the cheapest place in town, worth the money. Considering local connections the Internet was not bad. Food is good and the staff goes the extra mile to provide services as required.

Felt watched and untrusted the entire time we were here. Everytime we had breakfast, meal or drinks we were chased for payment. Not relaxing at all and a lack of understanding of the English language. Housekeeping just walk straight into your room without knocking. Toiletries appeared watered down and not replaced, neither were the refreshments. Had to hunt down staff to get service. Was not relaxing at all.

The hotel is nice and clean. Located on a steep hill. The lifts are incredibly slow and waste a lot of time plus very tiny and always busy. The house keeping don’t pay attention to details. For example the complementary tea and coffee never has any black tea or milk with it (which isn’t a big deal by looks of it but keeping in mind in Angola visa or master cards never work and even the nearest supermarket is some walk away. It does become a big deal).

I have never experienced bad hotel like this before. Since our first night, the key card of the room is not ready. Staff are not helpful and not hospitable. They are not willing to help when there is a matter and not want to communicate in English at all. In many times, they do not know what to do but asking guess to repeat the matter with other staff without passing information. And it takes ages for them to respond or give a feedback which really waste my time. I wish I had never gone to this hotel again.
