Beautiful castle, we were able to visit only tower, it was nice view from the top of the tower. Unfortunately, we were not able to buy combined ticket for some reason and also all the information on the stands in tower was only in Polish.

Museum Night was a big flop, said it was running from 18:00-24:00, however when I arrived at 23:01, the security guard slammed the door right in my face and said the last entry was at 23:00 leaving a large group of enthusiastic museum goers to be turned around and left in the cold. No where was it written that last entry was at 23:00. Very disappointed and will not be returning or recommending this castle to anyone I know.

A great place to visit in Lublin, with a lot to tell. The only negative is that the posters are in Polish which makes it difficult to tell the story to the world, they could put them in English as well. Admission is free, you pay only to enter to the tower. The place is well maintained and was rebuilt with help of the European Union.

Amazing Chapel decorated with frescoes from floor to ceiling. Brilliant exhibitions. No crowds, no queues. Terrifying stories about what happened in prison Tower.

A nice castle with an interesting museum to visit. The chapel with its frescos was the most impressive, in my opinion. The museum has both temporary and permanent exhibitions. There are lots of paintings, icons, furniture and coins. There is a place to leave your jackets and bags (if needed). There also elevators, so it will be handy for people with special needs. The tower has lots of steps, so take that into consideration when visiting. The top of the tower provides pretty good view of the city. The only thing missing is a cafe in the castle yard for summer time :)

The staff is appalling. I never seen in my life it so bad. I bought a ticket at cashier. She said directions how to proceed further, but I was distracted by putting away my ticket and card. But she said it in good English. I said "could you repeat please". And you won't gonna believe it, but she said "I don't speak English". I understand when people don't speak, but she clearly gave me directions once but refused to repeat. Next the guard did only a bit better, blocking me entrance and explaining that coats and backpacks not allowed. Didn't like his tone or attitude either. However, after being made angry I might be biased towards guard. P.S. I'm European and English is not my language

There’s a lot to see and do around the castle, which houses a surprisingly dense set of historical artworks and artifacts about the city of Lublin. The area leading toward it is of course scenic, as are the views from it. The interior is well kept but humble compared to the exterior, though with its age that’s to be expected. Be sure to check out daily and seasonal cultural events happening there, some can be quite a trip.

This an old prison from the times of the Russian empire. Marvellous old chapel inside, covered with unique Orthodox frescs. Excellent historical museum and brilliant local primitivist art axibition.

I always try to visit this museum when I am in Lublin. It is not very big but has some gems to admire. The Holy Trinity Chapel dating back to the 13th century with Byzantine frescoes is a must-see.

Enjoyed visiting seasonal exhibition of Tamara Lempicka work, highly recommend. Also, quite remarkable view from the castle's tower over the city.

Castle on a hill with a view over Old Town, that can be seen better from the tower inside. There is also an exhibition inside if you've interested. Whole place was renovated not so long ago so everything is still good looking. Can't miss it since the biggest parking for the old Town is at its base.

The castle was rebuilt in XIX century and lost it's medieval spirit when you look at it from the outside, from the courtyard you can still see central tower of XII century and some Gothic and Renaissance style buildings of main palace. There's a museum and inside the tower, and some temporary exhibitions in the courtyard.

  • 5/5 Grzegorz B. 1 year ago on Google
Great place to visit with great history. It is confusing when purchasing a ticket as there are 3 different types of tickets one for tower, one for a Holy Trinity Chapel and one for Museum Exhibition. I recommend to buy all of them with audio guide.

Closed for renovations at the time of my visit, even the Donjon which was included in the Lublin pass ( a complete rip-off, by the way) was closed. Looks pretty, of course, unlike most of the city, so much lost potential in Lublin, it's so sad

The castle burned, was destroyed and rebuild after the war. It is ok, and You can relieve some of polish history inside. But I would recommend rather staying in the old city centre and enjoying the local cuisine, drinking some nice beers and enjoying the view. Castle is nice to look at, but not so exciting inside. The exception may be some venue, which increases the pleastness of the experience.

If it was not for my traveling companions, I'd have left a lot sooner. The castle museum was extremely interesting but the staff left a bitterness to the overall experience. We were told to go one way and then rushed passed places we did not have access to. The experience was laughable and not very positive.

  • 5/5 Tomasz J. 9 months ago on Google
It is kind of special indeed ... . Why? The building survived a challenging Polish history, even partly almost intact (the castle tower) and (b) a town and a castle hosted super important events from Polish nad European history perspective - Union of Lublin which in general inaugurated one of the most powerful union states in Europe's XVI century history. Must see , but please do read about Lublin a bit beforehand to grasp a historical context 😉

Would be all great but we were very disappointed. Most of the exhibitions are in Polish. That's not very welcoming for tourists. So if you don't know Polish or don't have anyone speaking in Polish and willing to translate everything then for me was a waste of money. When I go to a muzeum I want to learn something not only to look at pretty things.

  • 1/5 Ezjod 10 months ago on Google
Don't waste your time! This place shouldn't be called a "national" museum and the exhibition is just a waste of time. The only thing worth visiting are medieval frescoes in the tower. To visit the castle you need 4 different tickets and if you want to visit it all it costs 70 PLN! The price for this 5-th class art and trinkets collection costs as much as entrance to the Louvre!!! And then due to this idiotic organization every 50 meters you have to show the ticket to the staff. Never in my life have I seen in Poland or abroad such a scum and lack of imagination and proper managment.

Extremely helpful service and beautiful buildings. If you are a visitor, this place is a must-see. The tour is very extensive, and the view of Lublin city from the tower is the best you can get. Fully recommend

To be honest, there’s nothing spectacular or special with castle since there is no such a place left called castle. Only 1-2 pieces of a castle. Still may worth to have a look. No need to go up to tower or museum, believe me.

  • 5/5 Berna S. 1 year ago on Google
Unforgettable experience for art lovers. Kobieta w podrozy - beautiful exhibition about Tamara Łempicka and art deco. Beautifully presented along with many other artists of that period. Zamek offers exhibitions about Lublin artists in communism and their work, famous Polish painters such as Witkacy, Malczewski, Kossak and Matejko. Worth to see many other exhibits about religious artifacts and Polish folklore, Lublin's architecture, design and many many more. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly.

I have visited a Tampara Lempicka exhibition. I loved the possibility to see her works, I liked the choice of paintings, but the presentation was lacking as it was crowded - the pieces were often too close to each other to fully enjoy time. I wish a larger space was provided for this exhibition, as it was definitely worth more attention.

Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to manage to visit the museum side where you'll need to have a ticket for, but I manage to get in the atrium inside that is for free. it's not really big but I believe is full of story. Close to the entrance of this atrium there is a really cool vintage car a BMW, most likely German, it was really a beautiful car and I believe one of the most powerful one back in the days. By the way, from the outside it's a really nice castle. 😊

(Translated by Google) The brick castle was erected in the first half of the 14th century by Casimir the Great on the site of an earlier wooden castle. In the halls of the castle, the act of the Union of Lublin from 1569 was discussed. These times, however, are remembered only by two castle buildings: the 13th century residential and defense tower and the 14th century Holy Trinity Chapel with magnificent Ruthenian-Byzantine frescoes founded by Władysław Łokietek. The present neo-Gothic building was erected in the nineteenth century as a prison, used by the Russian and Austrian partitioning authorities, German occupiers and the authorities of the Polish People's Republic until 1954. The castle houses the Lublin Museum, unfortunately currently under renovation, hence only 4 stars. (Original) Murowany zamek został wzniesiony w pierwszej połowie XIV wieku przez Kazimierza Wielkiego, w miejscu wcześniejszego, drewnianego zamku. W salach zamkowych obradowano nad aktem Unii Lubelskiej z 1569 r.

Chapel was closed. No reason was given. Woman at the counter rudely pointed at a list of opening hours, uttered the words "CHAPEL CLOSE", which I didn't understand, since I was well within the opening hours (I visited at around 1PM on a Tuesday). No English was spoken. Other people seemed to receive tickets just fine. Disappointment.

(Translated by Google) It is rather a prison built in the 19th century than a castle, but okay, let Lublin have its own castle, quoting the wiki "In the years 1824–1826, on the initiative of Stanisław Staszic and according to the design of S. Stompf, a new building in the English Gothic Revival style was erected on the hill. intended for the prison of the Congress Kingdom. The castle served as a prison for 128 years. " What is currently available is the stories of prisoners in the tower, plus a chapel for fans of sightseeing a la "we include every sacred building in the city". The inner square is empty, undeveloped, nothing catches the eye.
