I read a lot of negative reviews before staying here, and I disagree with them. This is a beautiful island resort. The coffee at the bar is fantastic, and the outdoor amenities are abundant. I love that we can get hot dogs and burgers while on the beach or at the pool. The buffet is good and available most of the day. Most of the staff we’ve encountered have been helpful and friendly. I brought our own pillows and toiletries and am glad I did, but the room is very comfortable and perfect as our home base. We rented a car for not very much and are able to explore the island freely using the resort as home base.

Our overall experience was just okay. The beach and the ocean were the best part of the trip. The buffet was decent, but we weren't happy about the VIP section in the restaurant. For the price you pay for an All inclusive hotel, everyone is VIP. One evening, we reserved dinner at the Italian restaurant. Our server decided to leave without letting us know. We were left waiting for our dessert only to find out that the server never put in the order. The supervisor tried to make good for our servers inadequacy, but unfortunately, it fell short. The music selection was okay. We would have preferred a better mix of some slow and some fast instead of all fast. We would have enjoyed some slower dancing as a couple, but everything seemed to cater to the younger people. The drinks were pretty good, but again, if you wanted a specialty drink like Bailey's Irish Cream or Drambuie, you have to be VIP. We weren't even able to buy it! This is a rule that needs to change.

It was okay could have been better overall. The staff wasn't all that friendly and picked and choose whom they wanted to greet show around the hotel/ tour guide etc. The staff was a bit rude as well. My favorite part was the beach and the outside decorum which was very beautiful. The food was average. The one restaurant I went to was very nice and the food was better than what was served at the buffet. The water sports was okay but felt like I had to literally do EVERYTHING on my own. I'm on vacation and should not have to beg for assistance especially if I paid my hard earned money to relax and enjoy myself. No wash clothes glad I packed my own. Bahamas just feels slightly underdeveloped but has a lot of potential I might return but not to this particular hotel. Might have bugs in the hotel bed because I had so many bites on my skin. I know they have mosquitoes and whatnot but these bites were plenty and VERY VERY itchy. Would have gave 3 stars but 2 is the best I can give.

Resort and location are beautiful. The gardens are lush and tropical. The resort is located right on the ocean front, the beach is very well taken care of. The water is breathtaking. But watch in the water, there was a Barracuda that would make its rounds while we were there, and sea urchins were nestled near the rocks. In early mornings they use a tractor to sweep the sand back flat, so it is easier for the guests to walk on. There are locals who try to sell you stuff on the beach most of the days, so be ready for that. This hotel is a popular destination for the cruise ship excursions, every other day it would get very busy, so the earlier you can check in the better. In our experience all of the workers were very nice, everyone we said hello too always said hello back. In the mornings at the pool they have yoga and water aerobics. The food was always great, only thing I could recommend is they really need to update the rooms, they were always kept very clean by staff, but were very plain. In the bathrooms near the trim you could really see the wear and age of the hotel. I think a nice picture on the wall/colored bedspreads, would have really made the room pop. There were complementary water bottles in all the rooms and there was a safe also. I found it aggravating that the hotel water tank on our end of the resort didn't always work well. I took cold showers most days. I would still totally go back in a heartbeat and enjoyed every minute of this resort. One thing I did not like, is there were a ton of women topless suntanning etc. I am not a prude by any means, but there were children and families at this resort as well, it’s not an adult only resort. I myself would be upset if my children seen a random woman topless, and we were trying to enjoy a family vacation. Again my two cents. Also Go check out the excursion building on the resort. We did 3 different excursions and loved it. Pirates beach tour, swimming with sea turtles & pigs and snorkeling at rainbow reef. You won’t be disappointed. I hope to be able to come back here one day.

I won a free vacation to this place, and with every bad experience, I thought, "well, what did I expect? It was a free stay!" But this "vacation" was like a death by a thousand cuts. Every single step was SO MUCH HARDER than it needed to be. We stayed in an adjoining room (not by request) with neighbors who were not noisy, but the lack of insulation between the two rooms was so bad that we could hear every single word they spoke. We heard them laugh, cry, snore, and wake up at the crack of dawn every morning. Our bathroom was moldy and had cockroaches. The "room service" doesn't specify when it starts and it ends at 5, so if we wanted some WATER in our room, we had to make a 5 minute trek back to the lobby for one glass at a time. The only "free" amenity is the coffee and in-room coffee machine, but the hotel ran out of coffee after our first night! Nothing in this place makes sense--more signage EVERYWHERE would be helpful. The guest services desk isn't marked. The excursion table isn't manned. We didn't find out we were supposed to visit the Diving Center for excursions until the third day (and by then there was nothing left.) We couldn't find our room at first either because the signs for the buildings aren't easily visible. All week, we overheard people having the same troubles-- they couldn't find the bathrooms, or where to collect towels, or where they were allowed to sit on the beach (there are VIP sections that are off limits, but they're also not clearly marked.) The activities team was wonderful, but every other staff member we spoke to was rude and unaccommodating. The hotel boasts 5 restaurants but doesn't tell you that each week of your stay only gets you ONE reservation, and good luck actually finding any availability. The rest of your stay, you eat at the buffet. The included drinks seem like a perk until you realize the whole resort only has 2 bars, so you have to wait in line for 10-15 minutes for every drink. My stay at this hotel might have been free, but you couldn't pay me to stay again.

I guess best way to describe this resort is a nice affordable getaway. If you are looking for 5 star or expect 5 star while only paying for 3 star, you will be disappointed. If you want 5 star and decide to cheap out, manage your expectations for this resort. The people are fantastic, the location is ideal as you are about 10 minutes from the airport, and just minutes away from excursions, shopping and dining. The buffet has a nice selection of regular fare and local cuisine, but would not be considered 5 star. The resort is clean, fun, and the entertainment and bar drinks are plentiful and not watered down. Our room was nice, but dated, and the safe was out of order, but a call to the front desk took care of it the next day. Checking into the resort was chaotic, as almost our entire plane was headed here and the resort was and likely will be, ironing out the kinks to get everyone checked in as quickly as possible for some time. We were able to enjoy the resort while our rooms were getting prepared, and they stored our luggage until the rooms were ready. The beach is fantastic, but the recent hurricanes have washed away some of the sandy bottom of the beach, so wear water shoes to make the swimming more comfortable and safer for your feet. There are some rocks in the water as well, but nothing of any real concern from my perspective. Overall, I was satisfied with my experience here, and I would return for nice economical getaway, but would not return for a high cost vacation.

Firstly, the Viva Wyndham All-inclusive Resort in Freeport Bahamas is full of wonderful people staffing the grounds! Everyone has treated my wife and I so well, and have given us exceptional service. Were have been pleasantly surprised with the grounds and upkeep of the resort, the beautiful beaches, and the inviting team. The food here has been great and the drink selections are also very good. At first encounter some things felt "sales-y", but after we politely declined the vacation club, and the sales ladies on the beach with her trinkets there were no awkward feelings like at some resorts we've stayed at in past times. I would definitely recommend this place again, and would look forward to visiting their other locations (mostly in Dominican, one is Mexico, and another opening in Jamaica this yr). Try your stay here and I believe you will thoroughly enjoy it too!

Worst hotel experience I have ever had in my entire life. Wish I could vote 0 stars. Our hotel room didn’t have air conditioning, they wouldn’t give us extra towels, they offered laundry services but the washing machine was inoperable. We tried to book scuba diving and they cancelled due to weather, but allowed the group on the following day to go with the exact same weather (both nights had overnight storms). We were not informed about having to make reservations for any of the restaurants, so we didn’t get to do that. We upgraded our room to their membership, and they still wouldn’t let us kayak, borrow scuba masks. The ONLY thing I wanted to do was swim with the pigs. They booked our excursion and told us they would have a professional photographer and now nobody will let us purchase the pictures. The bathrooms were outdated. Our water wouldn’t even stay hot while we showered. Margaritaville will not sell the photos to us with the pigs. They gave us the phone numbers for the Viva resort place and they don’t work, and I’ve called 10 people trying to buy these photos. The food at the buffet was gross and they only offered American cuisine anyway. After spending $6,000 to come to another country and experience new food, different culture, scuba diving, kayaking in the ocean, and photos with piglets NOT GETTING ANY OF IT - I would say this is the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had. Do NOT book here. Just don’t.

Despite claims, this is not a 5 star hotel. First, the staff is super kind, polite, and helpful. Second, the pool, beach, and grounds are beautiful. However, the rooms are dated and bathrooms really need a good cleaning and update. The issues we had were with check in and food. We booked a 2 day excursion off our cruise ship. The travel agent never told us we would not be able to check into our room until after 3pm. While the staff was happy to hold our luggage, we were not able to change to be able to use the beach or pool, and we had to drag our bags with our passports and other items until we had a room. This was a complete waste of our 1st of 2 days. The resort also has a policy that you need to have a room number to be able to book reservations for any of the specialty restaurants or Spa. Reservations close at 3pm, so on the day you arrive you cannot book to do anything because they do not check you in until 3 or later. On to the food, when we arrived it was 10:30 and we were at the tail end of the breakfast buffet. Very little was left, and what was there was picked over and cold. The lunch buffet was not very good either. I was served grilled beef that was nothing more that grilled gristle. All the food on the buffet for every meal is only warm, once you get to your table it is cold. Because we could not make a dinner reservation the first night, we had to eat dinner at the buffet. They had a good variety, but again the food was not hot and it is cafeteria food - certainly not 5 star quality. Our 2nd night we were able to get a reservation at VIVA Cafe. I will say we had a much better meal. In short,, we paid for two nights, and because of the checkin policy, we were unable to enjoy our 1st of 2 days. There is no excuse of a check in policy that prohibits paying guests from using the amenities that were sold to them as part of the package. Really, disappointed and will not recommend.

Best things about this place: 1. The beach is the most beautiful, perfect beach. Lounge chairs are comfortable with more than enough shade from palm trees. 2. Very accommodating drink and pool-side services! 3. The entertainment staff was unexpectedly talented (acrobatics & dancing) and very kind! The worst things, and reasons why I will not come back: 1. The rooms are very mediocre. Extremely thin comforter and pillows. No hot water, bugs galore, oh and no phone in our room to express these concerns. The walls are so thin we could hear our neighbor’s conversations. 2. When we DID express these concerns at the front desk, it literally took two days for them to be addressed. 3. Every single bike had a flat tire or the steering wheel was broken. And literally no one cared that they were dangerous to ride, and they do not provide helmets even though the law requires them. I want to support this place so badly! I know the Bahamas is hurting because of recent hurricanes, but I will not be able to support such poor management.

The beach here is beautiful. However the rooms are nasty! Dried vomit was on the bed skirt and it wasn’t a small amount. The AC was so loud! Someone opened our door without knocking. Oh and the people who try to sell you the “vacation club” soon as you tell them no they pout like a 3 year old. The room they took us a tour of had a giant roach in the room. The jacuzzi was making weird noises. The food is not that great either. One night out of the whole stay did we have good food and it was the jerk chicken. They don’t cover the food so you have a bunch of files landing on everything! The only thing going for this place is the beach and the drinks.

Visited Club Fortuna for my wife's birthday waited almost am hour just to check in. Was given a room and found it had no towels or soap. Called the front desk and no one answered. When leaving the room found that the door didn't lock. Was given a different room which also had no bath towels or hand soap. Wanted to do the fine dining which I was told before booking that was available and was told after checking in that only guests staying 3 days or more had access to fine dining. Buffet food was unimpressive. Evening entertainment was good. Bartenders were friendly and accommodating. Overall was not impressed with the experience. If you stay there definitely make sure that your room door locks when you close it. I was able to just push the door open without even using the door handle.

I loved pretty much all of my experience at the Viva Wyndham Fortuna! My one complaint was the room. It was grimey, the bedding was dirty, and there was a paper-thin door connecting our room to the adjoining room. We heard EVERY word of their EVERY conversation. Everything else was wonderful though! The staff were so welcoming and kind, there was a huge variety of delicious food, endless free drinks and cappuccinos, and wonderful activities. We particularly loved the trapeze. The beach is spectacular, and we spent most of our time lounging there. If you aren’t planning on spending much time in your room, I’d highly recommend for an inexpensive all-inclusive experience.

It's was cool for first-time experience. The views here are beautiful. More for a relaxing vacay. If you want entertainment and excitement, this is not the place. You'd have to leave by taxi to get that, and that ride will cost a pretty penny per person. There's not much to do on the resort. Yes, they have the included excursions, but they are not off property, and you see the same ocean view you see on property. You can pay for off property excursions. The pool area closes too early(in my opinion). The rooms are clean but are a bit mediocre and not very well lit except for by window. Which is fine by day. Forget about having access to snacks in the middle of the night as advertised cause you won't. Other than that, staff and food are top-notch.

I requested for the room nearest to the beach and we had room 2101. It was a walk to the bar and restaurant but I loved our room since it was very quiet and oceanfront. Stayed here for 9 nights! I must say All-inclusive food and drinks was definitely so worth it for our family! They had 3 restaurants that you can book for free depending on how many nights you stay side from the buffet restaurant that was included. The beach had a lot of seaweeds and a bit rocky but if you walk a bit to the right they have a perfect white sand and beach in front of some private properties. The island is not modern but all we cared about is the Caribbean beach and it did not disappoint. The price of the whole stay was worth it! I recommend this place when you visit Grand Bahama. Tip: If you want to reserve the a cabana or any good spot either the pool or beach, you have to wake up earlier to reserve it. That’s what most of the guests did.

If you’re looking for luxury, maybe look elsewhere. The hotel was very old. The beds were uncomfortable. The food was awful. Overall, the resort was boring. The bartenders were very nice. Pedro and Freddy provided a great experience. Also, the hotel neglected to give the Bahamian experience. It felt more Spanish / American than Bahamian. In the lobby, I expected to hear Caribbean music but there was none.

Gorgeous location. It's unbelievably beautiful! Food is good with lots of choices, fresh and abundant. There's always some activity going on but if you want quiet I recommend the beach and the shade of a palm tree. The rooms are fine. They could use an update but I'm not moving in, just staying a few days. Room was clean and comfortable, which is the most important, with a small Fridge and safe, nice big shower. Overall we had a wonderful time, very much worth the price. We'll be going back. Just a beautiful, comfortable perfect vacation.

After reading all of the poor reviews on this place as far as the food goes, I was TERRIFIED of going. To my surprise, it was an awesome stay!! The grounds are breathtaking and you can tell a LOT of time, care, and money has gone into the landscaping. Our room was OK. My only complaint was that the bed was pretty hard- after 3 nights my shoulders were sore from sleeping on my side and the doors were not sealed. There was about an inch gap between our room and the room next door and our bed was extremely squeaky so I felt really really really bad for the people next door having to listen to our bed squeak at night while we were doing night time activities… other than that, it was great. The beach was beautiful- there are several highly annoying men that harass and holler at you by the shoreline to buy conch shells and weed. They cannot come up past the shoreline though. But if you do not come down to them, they scream at you for 30 min. Not even kidding, I put in headphones and closed my eyes and pretended not to hear him and he straight hollered at me for 32 minutes straight. After that we only went to the pool and the hot tub. The food was awesome!!!! There were a lot of bad reviews on the food so I was worried but for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, there were soooo many choices. For breakfast there were really good breakfast potatoes every day and a lady making fresh made to order omelets and dinner had a huge selection of all sorts of foods ranging from salads and fruits to fried rice, meats, etc. We made reservations for the gourmet Viva restaurant as well for one night and that was top tier! Overall I was extremely pleased with our stay.

The friendly staff is the only reason it's 2 stars and not 1. The rooms are very old and dated, rusty hardware in the bathroom. You have a 50/50 chance of bathrooms towels being replaced even when tipping. Pool towel situation is even worse, towels available for maybe an hour a day. The buffet is very average, pasta was consistently the best option. 3 restaurants you can make reservations at, but with a 6 night stay you can only do that twice. Was offered a special meal, $30 for steak or lobster, $35 for both. There was nothing special about it. Served in the buffet room, waited an hour, out of 10 people, maybe a total of 1 steak was consumed and lobster tail had to be cut with a knife. No servers for drinks at the pool or beach. 2 bartenders at the main bar and 1 at the beach bar which I think is open from 12 to 6. So much is wrong with this place but I'm tired of typing. If you're 18 to 30 and just want a cheap party, this place is perfect for you. And please, I'm not looking for a response from the owner, especially one that's copied and pasted.

The hotel is still recovering from the hurricane 🌀 1.5 years ago. It is up and running but there is some construction going on. The location would be hard to beat. Beautiful beach, warm water and a nice pool. It is a all-inclusive and on a 10 scale of food (10 being high) the buffet rates between a 4.5 and 5. Not real good to have to eat here 3x a day. There is no dress code for the 3 specialty restaurants. We dressed up for the oriental restaurant. Very pretty setting but the guy next to us was wearing a dirty tank top, swimsuit and flip flops...not what we expected. Great location...needs management to step up their game

We stayed here for 4 days in mid May and had never done a resort before so had little to compare our experience to and typically have lower than average travel standards, but this is what we thought: Food: Very good, lots of healthy options and good food specifically the chicken legs were excellent. However, if you do not enjoy vegetables and rice or have kids that don’t eat those items, the options may be lacking at the cafeteria/buffet area but they also have burgers and hot dogs with fries everyday. Drinks: the bar was excellent, they had lots of options and it was all included with a very kind bar staff that was available everywhere on the property. Common areas: the beach and community areas were very nice as well, oftentimes when full there weren’t places to sit by the pool because people would save spots for extended periods of time without being there, but always space by the ocean and the beach was very nice. Rooms: The biggest downside to the resort was the room: the beds were definitely bending inwards and we (under the age of 30) woke up sore most mornings. Additionally, TVs weren’t great and signal was bad as well as not having hot water for two days. *it is notable that renovations are occurring so it is likely our room had not been renovated yet. Other: they have lots of fun excursions, the beaches are federally owned so you can walk anywhere along them, the water sports were fun and included, and every night there’s a show that was surprisingly good and full of talent from what you would expect to be put on by resort staff. The people here are nice and want you to have a good time.

I Spend an amazing Week with my wife in this resort. Amazing long beach that you can relax under a palm tree. They do have a buffet bar by the beach as well for drinks and small snacks The pool area is great as well. They also have area for spots such as volleyball, basketball and soccer area. Lots of activity to do. The food is high quality, rooms are perfect for your beach stays. Nothing to complain. We just have an amazing time. We will definitely go back !!!

This hotel is average, mostly everything is self-serve. Food and drinks are average, the beach is very nice. We did receive the best service from ALEJANDRA at customer service, very attentive and helped through our stay. She was very polite and tried to make our stay pleasant.

So, I'm staying here now and will more than likely change hotels mid trip. The food isn't good, the events start late, the rooms have bugs, nasty showers and the curtains are filthy. The refrigerator and safe all have rust. The best thing going is the staff, they've been so wonderful and pleasant. I will not come back to this hotel. The pool was also ao filthy this morning for water aerobics and the hot tub will make you sick from the look of it. This place needs so much help. I am a single mother of 2 and really needed this break. So today I decided to buy into the vacation club, definitely not for this location. I was moved to a VIP room where the TV doesn't work and the blinds are broken so in using a rubberband to keep them closed. Good thing is, if I don't like the next one I visit, I'm canceling. I would've taken photos of the 1st room we stayed in but it grossed me out to look at the curtains and floors to take the picture.

Oh man where do I begin. I apologize for the missed punctuations in advance because of how pissed I am. I have never once wanted a vacation to end as much as I did here. I am a frequent traveler and I don’t know how I missed this First upon arriving to the resort we were checked in and given our room key no other information about the resort were given I had to go over guest services to find out the different restaurants closing times and so on and so fourth. We were given a room that was way in the back of the resort I had to return to the front desk to request a closer room as I was with a child. I was given a new room and once I entered the room it smelled like mildew or dirty mom water the room looked like it was just thrown together I legit felt like I was at a motel 6…we had hot water only 1 night the bathroom would not flush I simply just wanted to cry I thought of so many ways to cancel my reservation and go elsewhere. The buffet was the only edible food however sometimes it was cold. The workers looked like they were miserable and did not want to be there not one smile on there face. Poolside and beach were ok however there is a Bee infestation there i really couldn’t believe it. You couldn’t even enjoy your drink in peace, There were dirty play and cups left everywhere it was truly disgusting!!! Please read these reviews prior to booking. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! If you have to spend a little extra then do so so you can enjoy your stay.

We had a rocky start. Our first room was not satisfactory but once we made the hotel aware of the deficiencies, we were immediately moved to a lovely room that we were very happy with. The guest services people were also very accommodating with all of our other requests. The shining stars of this resort are the restaurant staff, under the direction of Chef Danielle. We are vegan, he and the rest of the kitchen staff made sure we had everything we needed for our dietary requirements. They truly made our stay delicious.

Amazing experience! Spent 4 days at the resort. Staff is amazing and the food and drinks made the experience even better!! Beautiful beach, extremely relaxing! We went during the off season so wasn't really crowded which made for a even better experience!

We had a wonderful time. This was a lovely place very welcoming and was very friendly, offering great service, and everyone was super nice. The rooms were a bit outdated, but that didn't bother us that much. The place was laid back, romantic and great service made over what was lacking. The all-inclusive was great. I highly recommend it. The food was delicious. The resort had a day pact with fun activities, and every night, they put on an amazing show with talents from all over the world like Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, UK, and US. The beach was gorgeous, clean, and calm water. We'll go there again.

For 3.5 stars, the hotel has everything. The food was good, room was OK ( clean bedding, hot water, fridge, clean towels every day...). The hot tub was a plus, especially when was 20 C and windy in the evening. Great vacation. We will return, for sure.

I can see the hotel has 5 starts on its website. Way too overrated. We had an average experience there. The worst factors of our visits were food and some staff's altitude. We don't expect people dancing and signing for us, but friendly - even formal - approach is something that may make one's day. I felt sometimes there as I should say sorry for visiting the hotel. The food was average and boring. Hard to say more about it. We went there in early November, but water in the pools was cold, I preferred during the stay to get into the ocean. The rooms were clean, our sea-view one offered a spectacular experience. The beach is well maintained, the palm trees make boosted impression. In overall, I won't get back there and can't recommend the hotel, however, for the ones that want to experience Bahamas without spending a fortune and may flat expectations a bit, that may be a good option.

I went here on birthday trip with my husband. Although the rooms are a little dated the experience was amazing. We had all inclusive and every meal and drink was delicious. It was easy to book excursions when we arrived, place reservations for specialized meals, go shopping on site if you forgot clothing items or need a souvenir, and even have our covid test done to return to the states. From my room balcony I watched people try out the trapeze, kayak and sail. Everyday there was something going on and every night there were activities like a show, dancing, pool or karaoke. Everyone was so helpful in making this trip special and exciting. We even walked down to the sandbar for fresh conch. Remember to tip the staff because they work so hard to keep everyone happy. We will go back with our children because it is child friendly.

This resort was beautiful! Pretty beaches and beautiful pool area. After seeing all the bad reviews I was nervous, but after completing our trip I’m so happy we didn’t get turned away! The specialty restaurants were all amazing, and the Buffett was alright! Rooms were good, the floors got dirty throughout the week, but other than that everything was good! We even got a little personal pool off our room!
