I don't' want to give the wrong impression with the 3 stars, the place is fine but I was there as a guest of the marina, not the hotel so my review will be in that context. I stayed on my boat in the marina for 4 months. I went back to the states for one month during Thanksgiving and Christmas. The marina infrastructure is very tired and in need of a major overhaul but is not that atypical from other marinas in the Bahamas. it is priced accordingly as well, it is probably the cheapest place you can find for a marina anywhere in the Bahamas. Although, I should say that if you want to pay just a little bit more the marina right next to it is much better in terms of facilities, resources for boat work, and security. Speaking of security I had an incident where a bunch of kids jumped on my boat while I was on it and I yelled at them to get off and I think almost gave them a heart attack as I don't think they knew I was there. So security is very lax. Also it's problematic to have anything worked on as there is simply not the talent or skill in the local resources to do the work. I requested a simply bottom cleaning and it took three weeks and they didn't finish. I also commissioned a local resource to do some stern work and he wasn't up to it and made a mess out of my stern. I paid way too much for the hours and he went over the quote twice and ended up being 120% over the quote. I had to fire him. Moral of the story is that if you need boat work you may want to stay at the adjacent marina instead. The resort was just fine and I had unlimited access to all of the amenities and the beach at no extra cost. It was really quite convenient. Basically, I lived at a resort for 475/month. Quite the deal. All of the staff are super friendly, even the person I had troubles with (not staff technically). The supermarket was a very easy walk away and they have periodic free shuttles to the grocery store as well. The beaches are well groomed and Port Lacaya is a short dingy ride away for nightlife and Karaoke. I heard from guests of the hotel that it is in need of a major overhaul in general. That's the reason for the stars, the whole property had that tired feel to it but, like I said, it is priced accordingly.

Crazy story about this place went about 2 weeks ago while there a local end up robbing me and my husband the police and security did great by getting our things back within like an hour. The robber had took everything including our room key he had dropped it when my husband was chasing him. We didn’t feel safe but before we could say anything the hotel had upgraded us to the timeshare side and supposedly had refunded our money back for the extra two days we had to stay because of the hurricane. NEVER got my money back or even a follow up call from the police as promised about the guy who had stolen our things. Thank GOD I was getting out the pool at the time the guy had stolen my bag or we would have never knew who it was. Given 2 stars because why lie about refunding me?

We received a"free" ( not free) vacation to come here it was stated that we would be staying at the resort but we are actually staying at the motel across the street called Flamingo Bay. When we arrived everyone was friendly at first. This was our first trip to Grand Bahama Island so we had no idea what to expect. What I have now learned is that everyone seems to be trying to hustle out here which is something I can respect to a degree. Not when it comes to subpar service and conditions. The room was mostly clean except the tub which looked like alot of ppl bathed in it so the dirt was just ingrained in the paint. The appliances were noticeably rusty and the furniture was old and in a state of disrepair. There is zero wifi service unless you cross the street and goto the pool or restaurant. Another thing the television is snowy. Like old school antenna snowy even in the Marlin where the vacation club members stay. We accepted all this and tried to have a good time anyway. There is nothing nearby and most of our money went to getting a taxi. If you want to visit Lucaya National Park and the beautiful beach across from it, you will pay 144.00 We only ate breakfast at the restaurant in the resort because I have never seen a basic breakfast botched so badly. Eggs over easy were very undercooked and we had to send it back, toast was burnt and we were given 2 slices of lunch meat instead of bacon but they then tried to charge us for a side of bacon stating it was the same thing. No ma'am this is dollar tree lunch meat I will not pay for that. Now the pancakes were delicious and so was the bacon when they had it. Soo I just ordered the pancakes every time after that. The menus in each restaurant said vat and gratuity not included, but it is. When you get your receipt its there. Last but not least we had several beers taken from our room. When the beer grew legs I had had it. Especially since we would have shared if they asked. We reported it but literally nothing was done. Needless to say things were a bit chilly after that. So much so that the cleaning lady flung my fiance's shirt at me without looking in my direction. There was no discussion or explanation at all. We were not told that there would be daily maid service where someone comes in your room when you are out. There was no option to opt out of this. Which I usually do for this very reason. There wasn't even a do not disturb sign available. It just left a bad taste in our mouth. I am not going to list every occasion we were told one thing and had something else done because there are too many. Just be upfront and mean what you say. The best thing about this place is Big Mama in the front. She did her best to help us have a good time. The pool and grotto were nice and most of the people were friendly at the resort. Alfi makes the best drinks in the grotto! He was very nice to us. Aside from the bad experiences and a need for some updating it was a nice trip. I will not be returning but if you are traveling here the accommodations are adequate enough to lay your head and spend some time in the sun.

The staff were great and the rooms were clean. We have to remember they are still in recovery from the category 5 hurricane and covid restrictions. The bathrooms and kitchenettes were outdated but that pales into comparison everything these people have been through. I loved my stay and I look forward to returning to Flamingo Bay Hotel. The surroundings are simply beautiful.

The service was phenomenal. Everybody was friendly and super helpful. It was very clean. The pool was relaxing. The bartenders,Alfie and Bucket were very friendly and kept the laughs coming. It's family friendly. The restaurant had great food and even better service. The ferry is located right out the back door of the hotel. We took the Sunset cruise while there and it did not disappoint. The only thing I could say negative about my experience was there is definitely some maintenance that needs to be done. Both ice machines did not work and the slide was closed the whole time we were there. Also there is not a beach bonfire as the site promises. We were looking forward to this the most! You get full access to the whole resort, but there isn't anything explaining the amenities at the Flamingo. We heard about different activities hosted by the resort after the fact by other guest. I believe the Flamingo management would have better reviews if they posted the activities at all of their sites instead of having to go to different front desks or relying on other guest to get information. Maybe have an information board in the lobby posting the activities along with what locations where it will be held. Also we found out about a grocery run that the taino offers to their guest by another couple. If these helpful amenities where posted at all sites the reviews would be much higher. It would be really helpful especially for first time guest of The Bahamas as ourselves. As far as the staff goes, you couldn't ask for a better experience. I gave the hotel a 4 for management errors. The staff deserves a 10! We enjoyed our trip, but found a lot of things out the day before we left.

Started out as a busts but eventually came out great experience. Big Moma was a wonderful and great help to our anniversary experience what supposed to been a resort vacation turned out to be a hotel stay. If anyone has booked there vacations through Merek Travels plz I repeat plz be advised that they are using you and not supporting the exact location of your stay. Flamingo Bay Hotel was not an bad experience actually kinda peaceful for the 4nights we stayed and the sunset cruise tour was lit I only blame the travel agency for the foul play they put in on the trip to get money out of ppl which we was supposed to stay at Taino Beach Resort and club vs where we stayed at the Flamingo Bay Hotel. So to the staff at the Flamingo Bay great Job for making us feel at home best as possible 🙌 we are very much appreciated

Nice place to tie up for a night or a week. Older rooms, but clean. You can see your boat and keep an eye on it from your room Great restaurant for breakfast across the street. Staff is very nice and helpful.

If you get one of those not so free vacation deals where you can choose between one of three resorts, don't choose this one. You don't actually get to stay at Taino Beach, you stay here instead. The resort is actually not a hotel, it's a time share. So the only way you get to stay there is if you buy one or rent from someone. Having said that, you're not required to do a presentation. You still get full access to the resort i.e. the beach, pool and little restaurant there, but you have to pay 8 bucks per person to get to the marketplace, and it's there you wanna eat dinner and access to an ATM. Choose the Lucayan instead, you can walk to the marketplace.

Big Mama is wonderful. Everyone likes her. Very clean, turn in towels, and get new towels whenever you need them. Water taxi right at your door.

This was the worst vacation ever the hotel is nasty phones in rooms don't work tv was broken lights didn't work ceiling fan didn't work microwave blew up no working ice machines house keeping just barges in rooms. 2 strange woman came into room one while I was on toilet and she just stood there and stared at me staff isn't helpful at all it was nasty nowhere to eat a cab to the only store is 35 bucks we left early and went to Nassau much nicer beaches tons of shopping and food in Nassau. There is nothing at flamingo bay. Or freeport. Save money and go to nassau

This is a terrible place. This was advertised as Taino Beach Resort Harborside. Was informed before coming that it was actually a separate hotel across the street that was part of the property and had access to the same amenities. Whatever I figured I’d get over it. These rooms are unsafe and disgusting. Front door barely locks, old outdated furniture. Bathroom need extreme TLC and there was tape all over the walls and some furniture? Like what purpose? No safes in the rooms. And no privacy do not disturb tags for the doors. So you are almost forced to take all important belongings with you or leave them in your unsafe room if you please. To use the ferry service that you must also buy tickets for (which only was running two days we were here for five) you must sign in with your name and room number….seems weird to know who isnt in their rooms for so many hours while your across at Port Lucaya. In replace of the ferry that i guess was down for maintenance they opted for a van which apparently you do not need to buy tickets for but the front desk did not mention that to me the two times i bought tickets for this van. The driver kindly told me. The staff here is incompetent it was one thing after another that just seemed to get worse as the week progressed. No one knew if the ferry was running or is the van was running or was at all concerned that the ferry was down -at all. The restaurant on the resort closes at 6 so you are forced to go to port if you need food later and they don’t even provide reliable transport there, or care. This whole stay was unsettling and i would advise anyone please do not come to Freeport Bahamas please please just go to Nassau.

Rooms were nice, the toilet was a little wobbly but overall good location and service was excellent. Big Mama in the front was very helpful with tips about the island, travel/taxi’s and things to do

Big Mama is amazing. All of the staff were courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean, nothing fancy but I went for the beach access not to hang out in a hotel room.

I was really happy with this hotel. The only problem is the ferry and the restaurant closed too early. We ended up renting a car so we can go do stuff after hours.

Rooms are a bit dated, and Wi-Fi not available inside my room. Had to go to the lobby or out in front of the building in order to use the wi-fi. Staff was friendly and accommodating, and TV had an unsurpassed number of channels to choose from. Kitchen was woefully lacking and flatware and other utensils. For room men for two there were three spoons one plate one glass one cup, coffee maker with no filters. Decent restaurant across the road available for all of the hotels and resorts in the area. Access to the beach was a good extra. Bed was large and comfortable. Unless you of the marina from the rooms on my side, and very too Micaiah was right outside of my door. Free parking. All In all, a decent budget pic we would not like to spend alone time there.

If all you want is a place to lay your head then this is ok but it isn't close to anything, there is only one place to eat (at the other resort across from it) and nothing to see, do or eat within walking distance. There is a water taxi that you can get just out back but there are days when it doesn't start service until 11am. The gift shop which looked like it would have a few snacks was never open and the front desk told us not to drink the water from the tap because it wasn't tested after the hurricane 5 years ago AND they didn't have bottled water anywhere in or near the hotel. 2 stars is being very generous.

there is nothing to do no restaurants or bar rooms need to improve everything close at 6pm after that just pizza delivery and avoid big mama at the entrance.

I was in room 201. Only 13 channels and internet access was spotty though I was told I would get any at all. Ice maker right next to 201 so that was nice. The room had a fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. Bed was very nice and pillows and A/C worked great. Could've used a heavy blanket. Easy walk to beautiful beach; ferry is right there to go to Port Lucaya every hour. Giant pool area also very close along with restaurant.Grocery store about a mile away..
