The significant place from where the mighty Nile River originate it's longest journey. It originate from Lake Victoria. You can reach here by a boat trip from either kingfisher resort or sailing club. The journey is also very beautiful. But of recent the water level has reached so high that we can't go down to click photos as of earlier days. There is monument for Mahatma Gandhi also at the bank of the river.

The White Nile leaves Lake Victoria at Ripon Falls near Jinja, Uganda, as the "Victoria Nile" and while the exact source is disputed, the local boatmen will take you to a point in the lake where you can see what looks like water bubbling up from the bottom of the lake, which is considered as the waters from the Nile's source pushing itself upwards to the surface - this is considered as the point where Lake Victoria ends and the Nile, as a river, starts.

Such an amazing view of the source of the Nile River. The location firsts gives you a breathtaking view of the valley from the Jinja region before the 114 stair descent to the boat ride, which takes you the springs which are believed to be the source. Sadly, much of the landed portions where one could stand beside the springs have been submerged. So you are forced to stay on the boat for much of the experience. A well trained tour guide will give you a sense of what has happened over the past years since John Hanning Speke noted the source. Boat ride cost about 100,000 Ugandan shillings for a three person ride. However, note that the climb back up to the departure point after the boat ride is a daunting task. So make you have good heart health.

One of the unique must visit places in the world. Located in the pearl of Afirca. The Nile is a major north-flowing river in northeastern Africa. The longest river in Africa is about 6,650 km, it has historically been considered the longest river in the world. The Nile has two major tributaries – the White Nile and the Blue Nile. The White Nile is considered to be the headwaters and primary stream of the Nile itself. The Blue Nile, however, is the source of most of the water, containing 80% of the water and silt. The White Nile is longer and rises in the Great Lakes region of central Africa, with the most distant source still undetermined but located in either Rwanda or Burundi. It flows north through Tanzania, Lake Victoria, Uganda and South Sudan. The Nile leaves Lake Victoria at Ripon Falls near Jinja, Uganda, as the Victoria Nile. It flows north for some 130 kilometers to Lake Kyoga. The last part of the approximately 200 kilometers river section starts from the western shores of the lake and flows at first to the west until just south of Masindi Port.

The birthplace of the mighty Nile river (or one of them anyway…), here the water spills out of Lake Victoria on its journey to the Mediterranean flowing fast from the get-go. It's estimated no more than 5% of water here will end up in Egypt. There's a landmark identifying the source and a few restaurants and bars, which can make for a nice place for a sunset beer. Exploring the source by boat (per person USh50,000) is another popular option.

The Iconic place in the world, it's the one of the edge of Lake Victoria, where the River Nile starts it's very long journey up to the Egipt. It was really wonderful moment I spent here. There Guide is free but you need to pay for boat ride to reach at the starting point of the river.

It's most beautiful place I've ever seen. Victoria lake meets with source of White nile. This is the best creation of almighty Allah who's most merciful, powerful. Alhamdulillah for this gift. But it's very painful that entry charge was 10 USD and the boat trip was 300,000 ugx. It's very expensive.

Impressive tour on the boat. Our guide gave us a good idea of the heritage of the place. Knowing that some of the ashes of the late Mahatma Gandhi have been spread out at the source. Whew, amazing. If you want to go for bird watching. Don't miss that opportunity.

A must visit place. The entrance is 10$ for foreigners outside of Africa. Parking is 5,000 shilling. To reach the source of Nile, you need to rent a boat. The cheapest way to get there is to rent an old and narrow boat for 100,000 shilling. They will offer a more powerful boat option which can take you to more places starting at 650,000 shilling. We picked the more expensive option and didn't regret it. We got to see various birds and even saw monkeys. The guide did a good job explaining everything about the place. Overall we were happy with the tour. On our way to the car, we saw monkeya and fed them bananas. They also accept USD in case you go there without shilling.

Source of Nile is a must go if you are in Jinja. We enjoyed the boat ride on the longest river in the world. It was calm, centering and I was able to see a lot of the birds and even a baby monitor lizard. A once in a lifetime experience 🤎🤎🤎 We had an amazing guide, Brian Kayongo (+256 701 496 791) who just gave us great context on the River Nile and was just general good vibes.

Don't leave Jinja City without visiting this area. On one side is the relatively calm Lake Victoria. On the other side, the world's longest River starts it's journey to Sudan and Egypt. The sun rays hitting the water offers a scenic view. I just loved the place!

Amazing experience which has to be done. The guide on the boat was fantastic with lot of knowledge of his subject and was helpful during the tour. However you need to be careful or you could be completely ripped off. Initial price they stated was about 160 usa dollars. Thanfully I was with some shrewd guys from Uganda who got the price down to 50 usa dollars but in a slower boat, but was well worth it. Highly recommend

The source of the Nile is located in in Jinja district. The first European explorer by the name of Speke discovered   Source of the Nile, as the second longest river in the world and internationally unique attraction. It is an “international” river as its drainage basin covers eleven countries, namely, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo-Kinshasa, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Sudan, Sudan and Egypt.  In particular, the Nile is the primary water source of Egypt and Sudan. The Nile has two major tributaries, the White Nile and Blue Nile. The White Nile is considered to be the headwaters and primary stream of the Nile itself. The Blue Nile, however, is the source of most of the water and silt. The White Nile is longer and rises in the Great Lakes region of central Africa, with the most distant source still undetermined but located in either Rwanda or Burundi. It flows north through Tanzania, Lake Victoria, Uganda and South Sudan.

You want to know the start point of the longest river in the world. This is the point to stand at and see the ripples of water start as it heads north towards Egypt with the destination being the Mediterranean Sea.

Watching the point from which Lake Victoria breaks away from the River Nile is simply breathe taking. The water levels were so high they washed away the water restaurants but other than that, you will need to see it yourself, no images can do it justice.
