Hiking area Campground Camping cabin Mountain hut

👍👍 Stayed for 2 nights here. The cabins we stayed in were extremely cozy and relaxing. The 6 man cabin was a little bit of a tight squeeze, but it was still very comfortable with 6 men. The cabin was warm, clean, and neat. The owner was very kind and accommodating, gave some great options for thing... People often mention area, owner, clean, space, kitchen, recommend,

Lovely, relaxing site with touring pitches for canpervans/tents, huts and yurts. Thoughtfully arranged to be sociable with all pitches encircling a central area comprising large fire bowl and amenities (the showers are a particular highlight). Great area for exercising dogs and the camp kitchen/ family area is very well appointed. No shop and no eating places within walking distance so be prepared to bring food or drive out to a local eatery (lots of suggestions provided). Would definitely visit again as we had a very enjoyable stay and owner is very friendly and helpful.

Stayed for 2 nights here. The cabins we stayed in were extremely cozy and relaxing. The 6 man cabin was a little bit of a tight squeeze, but it was still very comfortable with 6 men. The cabin was warm, clean, and neat. The owner was very kind and accommodating, gave some great options for things to do in the area and local businesses for food and travel. The view was excellent with mountain walks behind, surrounded by wooded areas and greenery, with a great view of the ocean and the nearby town of Dungarvan. I absolutely recommend this place for a weekend getaway to disconnect from everything and relax for a bit.

A wonderful place to stay! This is a very quiet campsite, far enough from the hustle and bustle to be peaceful, but close enough to Dungarvan and the coast to be well located. I stayed here for 2 nights, mid-June. I tent camped the first night, but as it started to storm I moved to a Belle tent the second night. The owners were very kind and couldn't have been more helpful. The field for tents is roomy, the owner told me they only allow 3 or so tents at a time, which means loads of space for everyone. The Belle tent was a real treat, especially as it was storming outside. It's very sturdy, nothing moved or flapped around in the wind. The toilets and showers were clean and spacious. They're located in a small, central building. It contains 2 rooms with a toilet and shower each. There's also an old stone barn which has been converted to a shared social space with a small kitchen. I would definitely recommend this campsite and hope to return soon!

Absolutely beautiful setting. The whole layout is beautiful and the amenities are brilliant, very clean and there's a really cute converted barn that is a communal kitchen and chill out area. We were in one of the Belle tents and it was stunning-very cozy and you've a decent bit of space around you. Can't recommend highly enough.

The Getaway is an amazing camping spot. The facilities, location and service couldn't have been better. The host was very accommodating and went above and beyond to make our trip as good as possible as we visited during Storm Betty. Can't recommend it enough and will definitely be back.

We stayed at The Getaway as we were looking for a good location for Tunefest, (the annual traditional Irish music festival in Dungarvan). The campsite was perfect for this, within only ten minutes drive away, it is the perfect place to return to after the hustle and bustle of the town. It is a beautiful, tranquil and relaxed space in a stunning rural area. The facilities at the campsite itself are excellent and spotlessly clean. There are lovely little hidden gems if you take a walk around, including a viewing point where you can take in the sea and a field along the way with two adorable friendly goats to say hello to. The campers' kitchen, 'The Nook' is like stepping back in time to a traditional Irish cottage. An immaculately clean facility to wash dishes etc. but also a perfect place to relax with friends. Plenty of seating, board games and so on and a really useful information booklet put together by the owner, Hilary. Hilary herself, had all the time in the world for us, gave us all the local information we needed and went above and beyond the call of duty to welcome and help us with any queries we had. The Getaway is a hidden treasure not to be missed and is an ideal base for exploring beautiful Waterford. We will definitely be back. Thanks so much Hilary.

Wonderful camp site. Great raindance showers free of charge. Small kitchen and sofas in a barn house to use for everyone. Love in every detail. Very friendly and helpful owner. Dogs welcome.

Exceptionally well designed campsite that gives each camper space yet still manages to encourage a sense of community. The charming (and generously appointed) ‘Nook’ offers a place to cook, eat, compare notes with other campers and warm up. Free wifi and fab showers to boot. Hillary is a fantastic host - acting as a bit of a fixer when people arrive as we did with a van in need of repair. Cannot recommend ‘The getaway’ highly enough. Its remote setting is peaceful but just a 10min drive into Dungarvan.

The perfect place for a quiet weekend away. Stayed in a cabin which was super comfortable with soft beds and pillows. The bathroom was clean and modern, and the kitchenette had everything we needed. The spot also had a secret garden which was the ideal place to relax to the calming sound of the spring that ran next to it. The location was ideal, with great views and clean air, and walk up the mountain right next to it but not too far away from Dungarvan town. The owner was amazing and gave us a warm welcome and took the time to tell us about the local sights, restaurants, etc. Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back

We stayed in our campervan & loved this place. The newly built showers are hot, rustic and pristine. A huge bonus is the lovely renovated barn. It has a quirky quaint feel. There are couches where you can chill out. The cooking area & kitchen were a very nice bonus. There was a stove which would be lovely in winter. For a nominal fee they supply a big bag of wood for you to burn & enjoy. We will be back!

Absolutely brilliant place, lovely and quiet, with all the services. Hilary goes out of her way to welcome you and has gone above and beyond to supply an indoor area - 'the nook' with kettle, microwave, etc and information about the area and lots more (even heating for the winter)

An absolute gem. Most other campgrounds in Ireland have you packed in like sardines. The owner of the Getaway has made a huge effort to make each site spacious and by setting aside the large shed as a communal space, it feels like such a gracious and community oriented space. Showers had real hot water and pleasant quantity coming from large shower heads. This is the standard by which all campsites should judged.
