My family loves to find a good family run business and this place was a gem. Great bbq, hush puppies and a moist lemon cake for dessert. Wish i had more stomach to try more!

Like eating at Grandma's if your grandma is the best cook in the world! Great BBQ, fried chicken, hushpuppies, slaw and the bbq sauce is a mix of eastern and western style. Sweet with a little kick and vinegar based. Definitely will be back!

Great pulled pork, wonderful coleslaw & hush puppies. She is not serving inside, take out only. We used the tailgate. Beautiful day. The owner is very sweet & accomodating.

1st time and last. This place does not live up to the hype for me. I got the standard combination bbq and chicken plate with lemonade. I ordered by phone so I didn't know the prices. When she said $19 and some change I literally said "for a combination plate?" she looked back at the register, repeated my order and said yes. I could have threw up standing there. Who in all creation charges that much? Then on top of that it was not even good. Chicken was dry and had no seasoning and the bbq tasted like smoke and was just ok. If chicken/bbq is what you are craving, save your pennies and go to Smithfield.

Some of the best hush puppies I’ve ever had! BBQ and flounder were tasty and fresh, service was prompt. Only about ten minutes off of 95 and well worth the detour! The family who runs this place was so kind and hospitable to us—they gave us some beautiful watermelon and bell peppers to take with us. Will stop here again!

Wow this is a country gem. I felt like I was in a speak easy. The food will surprise you. the service is top notch . Order the fried chicken. This is a new Yorker who is very picky. The coleslaw is better than home made.

It was fabulous. The hush puppies and honey butter were to die for. Highly recommend!!! We stumbled upon it when we were in town for the tractor pull. One of the operators was so friendly and told us all about the history of the place. Old tobacco barn with the lots of family love.

Something special! The food, the space and service are great. The bbq is King but the other options are also note worthy. Pic here is a fried catfish with all the “fixing’s.”

Great food and rustic farm atmosphere. Hand chopped barbecue is excellent along with it's home made sauce. Catfish and seafood were delicious.

Wonderful gem. Can’t believe our good luck to find such good food and nice people. Stop, people….stop. You will not be disappointed. And it’s like a farm museum to boot.

This was a fun stop to eat just off of 74. The building has a lot of things to look at. The manager Wanda was very friendly. The chicken, fried catfish, and hush puppies were amazing.

First time here and it was amazing! The antiques displayed, the service, great food and cozy southern comfort made my experience one to remember! A unique spot that is a MUST HAVE if your from the area or from across the country like we were. Food was honestly underpriced for what it was. Great job Roy’s! 10/10

This is the real deal. Delicious Carolina style BBQ and great fried chicken. Probably everything is great but I only tried the bbq and chicken. The service was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere has to be seen to be appreciated. Country kitsch ?? at its finest. I could have spent hours exploring the decorations. Highly recommended.

This was our first time here. We were passing through and read great reviews on this place. Such a cute little family restaurant! You get the backwoods country feel all throughout. Service was amazing! If you're looking for speedy food, probably not the place for you. It took a little while to get our food which was expected with it being a tiny family restaurant. We of course didn't mind the wait! The food was delicious and hot! The staff were so nice and very observant. We will definitely stop back by when we travel through the area again! Oh, and get extra hush puppies! I am NOT a hush puppy fan but those hush puppies were so good! Especially with the honey butter 😋

This was my family's first time ordering from your establishment. Everything was great. Our daughter loved the onion flavor of your hushpuppies. My husband and daughter got your shrimp and chicken plate. They said your chicken is moist and delicious. They said your shrimp is better than Village Inn's! Coming from them, that's a very high complement. Your BBQ is out of sight too. The only issue is that you didn't cut your coleslaw up enough. This almost lost you a star. However, everything else was so good they decided to let you keep that star. Thank you we will be trying more things from your menu, as you are very reasonably priced as well.

Had BBQ Pork plate. Most amazing BBQ I've had in a long time. Moist, flavorful and the homemade sauce... OMG!!! Fabulous. Great service and nice people!! My son said the best hush puppies he ever had!!! I'm inclined to agree!! Great slaw too. Yummy lunch break during a long drive South! I hope I get back. Food is just too good.

A charming, multi-generational, family-run restaurant operating from their converted tobacco barn. Chicken is fried to order and perfectly done. Hush puppies are great, and served with honey butter. Served 3 piece chicken with two sides and a large basket of hush puppies and a drink for $12 total, surprisingly inexpensive on a Friday night. Service was friendly, and enjoyed hearing the family’s history. Looking forward to returning. Thank you!

Excellent service & food. Locally owned and operated for many years by the same family. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices. Like many small businesses, they may be understaffed -- but again, very friendly and helpful.

The food, service, and atmosphere was awesome. Good country dining is a quaint cabin minutes from 74. So glad we ate here on our way to the beach. It will become an annual tradition.

Ok so the good: The food was tasty. And cheap. I got the double cheeseburger and chili-cheese fries. The ambience and feel of the place was super unique, tons of decorations and fixtures, it seemed clean and well-decorated. The server was really polite. The bad: We waited almost 15 minutes before someone even asked what we wanted to drink, then about 45 minutes after we ordered for our food. In defense, the hostess did apologize about there being someone new in the kitchen. When it was finally brought out, my order was incorrect. However it was fixed within 5 minutes. In summary, the restaurant is a unique and tasty place to visit, however it felt like it was everyone’s first day working there.

Hidden gem. Excellent home-cooking. We found it while traveling and will definitely come back if we are in the area.
