This is a pretty statue - but what’s really impressive is the piazza it’s located on. The whole square murmured with locals enjoying an aperitivo in any of the multiple outdoor seated restaurants. Another must visit in Como! Although I wish there was a bit more information on what the statue is actually about.

A nice statue do not come here just for the statue but if you are in square then it is worth a look. There is lots of restaurants in the area where you can soak in the views.

Alessandro Giuseppe Antonio Anastasio Volta (18 February 1745 – 5 March 1827) was an esteemed Italian physicist and chemist. His pioneering work in electricity and power led to his recognition as the inventor of the electric battery. In honor of Volta's contributions, the magnificent marble statue of Como was unveiled in 1838. Created by Pompeo Marchesi, a renowned sculptor of the era, the statue stands tall as a testament to Volta's legacy. The imposing base, crafted by Francesco Durelli, supports the statue and bears a simple yet heartfelt dedication: "A Volta – La Patria" (To Volta – The Homeland).

This beautiful statue stands in the center of a very quaint piazza just around the corner from the duomo in Como. It is a great historical stop one your way to see the cathedral or take a ride on the funiculare to Brunate.
