I really discovered this place thanks to All trails. There's a great part of the trail where you walk about 2/3 of a mile and it leads you over a bridge and to a waterfall that leads to Loch Raven reservoir. I love hiking here with the family and it is a great place for young nature explorers to find hidden treasures. Tons of beautiful sights and a place to really connect with nature. There are different trails for all walking abilities but overall it's pretty flat and well cleared. There tend to be a lot of families with dogs so it is a moderately trafficked area but well worth finding your spot and going back over and over to find something new each time.

I love this trail, it’s the perfect place to facilitate nature therapy practices. Great overlook onto the reservoir that is so peaceful and soothing.

This trail leads from the end of Pot Spring Road to Loch Raven Reservoir. A nice stream runs near the initial path, eventually with small waterfalls. Once the trail hits the reservoir, there are several nice places to relax on the banks. In this area is the old, dilapidated Merryman family cemetery with some graves from the 1800's. Also, in this area is what some locals call the Satan Cellar. A small, old foundation/ cellar has strange symbols painted inside, with candles, a teddy bear, and miscellaneous debris. During the day, I recommend this area, as is ideal for hiking, fishing, or just chilling. During the summer, the flora is lush and varied. At night, there are strange animal calls from the woods and isolated splashes out in the water. The four pics were taken at night, 6/29/21, 0245 hours, with Pixel night vision. That is not the sun, but the moon shining on the water. Overall, a pretty cool area of Loch Raven Reservoir.

EZ hike towards and around Loch Raven. Sometimes, you get lucky to watch the migratory birds and eagles.

very cute network of trails. parking is an issue—only a limited amount of street parking. but if you get there early, you shouldn’t have a problem. ☺️

I love taking my family on this trail. It's wide and easy to walk. The scenery is beautiful and a great way to spend an hour or full day. Please pick up your trash. This trail is pretty clean but we can do better.

Nice trail. Loops around the water. Don’t use AllTrails if you can help it.

Lots of trails around and plenty of nooks and crannies to find your own quiet space. Some trails are overgrown and parking is weird at Merryman's. It shares that you can't park near the trailhead where the no parking signs are, but a little further down. Weekend wasn't too busy.

Had a great time on the bit we did today, lots of nicely shaded areas and saw plenty of plants and a little wildlife. There were many side trails that we look forward to exploring next time.

Always a nice hike! Not too difficult and usually about an hour hike round trip. I wish they didn't put down such large gravel (rocks) because they are ankle twisters but I suppose they're necessary to prevent erosion. I just go slow through those sections.

This is a great little preserve. Trails are unmarked or very poorly marked so leave bread crumbs.
