😐 I think I was expecting a better experience having read the reviews. Maybe the larger rooms are good. The property is undoubtedly full of character but the small double room was tiny, the walls very thin to the next room (I could hear their conversations easily) and the bathroom needs some attention... I think I was expecting a better experience having read the reviews. Maybe the larger rooms are good. The property is undoubtedly full of character but the small double room was tiny, the walls very thin to the next room (I could hear their conversations easily) and the bathroom needs some attention. The breakfast however was first rate that's why I've given 3 stars.

When we arrived we thought the house looked lovely, there's a shop and pool. We were greeted by a friendly woman and shown to our room which had a four poster bed, the lady seemed pleased about that!? Anyway, initially the room looked nice but when my partner went to use the loo it had been used and not flushed! The room was very cold even though the small radiator was on and an extra electric one was plugged into an extension lead. There was another heater there so I plugged it into the only spare plug socket but the heater didn't work. I unplugged it and decided to charge my phone there instead so we could use it for satnav when we went out for dinner. I used the shower later and the shower head wouldn't hold its own weight! So had to have it in an upright position which was awkward but usable, unfortunately the temperature was boiling, too hot for skin and I couldn't change it because there was so much limescale on it. My partner managed to sort that out for me. I noticed one of the complementary shampoos had already been half used! By now we were beginning to feel dissatisfied. As we got ready I noticed there was someone else's used tissue under the bed. This is too much. I took my phone off charge and used it to get us to our destination which would've been impossible to do without it because the countryside is pitch dark and we are not familiar with the area. On the way back my battery ran out!? It hadn't charged at all? I realised then that it wasn't the heater that was broken it was the socket!! We had another phone in the car that went onto battery saving mode which just got us back just before it ran out. By this time we were not happy at all so when I saw the host as I went in I told her about the tissue etc. She didn't even offer to remove the tissue!!?? We went to the room which by now was so cold we slept in our coats! This is not an exaggeration at all. When you rent a room you really do expect it to be like you are the only people to have been there. Any reminder of others use and their rubbish should never be on your mind and to not even have a way of heating the room is terrible! So disappointed with this place, would not recommend to anyone. We may have been unlucky but an unclean room is unacceptable every time. To mention it and it not to be sorted is unforgivable. Breakfast was served by a nice chap who was attentive and friendly. The food was exactly what it was advertised as, bacon, sausage mushrooms , egg and half a tomato, no more no less. No sign of the woman I'd told about the tissue!? We noticed when leaving the room that the broken socket was actually burnt out!! I would be very suprised if the place was compliant with electrical standards as there were extension leads everywhere , even outside! I would like to add photos but can't see how to do it?

A very querky country house offering B&B alongside meeting rooms and a yoga retreat. The room we had was in desperate need of modernisation.

Really lovely place. Staff were very nice, room wasn't the biggest but it had a comfortable bed, ensuite, tv, Internet, tea and coffee and breakfast was delicious, what more do you need? Will definitely stay again if I'm back in that part of Norfolk.

Such a lovely location, the staff are always welcoming and helpful. I love that the hotel is part of the National Trust.... and a listed building with so much character and charm. I have visited in the warmer months which is perfect, however when I return in the colder months I will be dressing very warmly in doors, as it is colder and drafty compared to a modern built hotel.. I must say that the Christmas tree with the open staircase is stunningly beautiful... Pay attention to features... I have stayed in a room with internal wooden shutters!!! and used them. I will be visiting again!!! πŸ€—

Mangreen Country House: Wedding venue, Day Event or B&B, its great. Visited this house a few years ago before the pandemic when itcwas all dressed for Christmas. Today an overnight B&B with a tasty breakfast! Pleased to say it is as intriguing as ever. A place with atmosphere, friendly staff and exquisite decor if you like old with design and style. It has an amazing history, and run as a charity. Above everything else the staff are fabulous. Nothing is too much trouble. They are enthusiastic and friendly. The grounds of this old house are tranquil, it even has a swimming pool. Great place to have a break or get married in. Make up your own mind if you want something a bit unusual

Where do I start!? One of the best kept secrets in Norfolk. A reasonable rate for a five stra experience. The staff were attentive, sweet and funny, they couldn't do enough for us. The room was spotless. There were vegan options available for us, even though we were a pair of disorganised Muppets they took wonderful care of us. We had the chance to use they pool and the grounds were charming.

Mixture of old and new, the grounds need up keeping looks untidy. Room was lovely, the hotel needs repairing in places. Breakfast was lovely off the beaten track need to drive somewhere for lunch and dinner. Overall had a good rest.

I and a couple of friends stayed for a night at Mangreen when we were visiting the Royal Norfolk Show. What a delightful stay we had. The Manager, Catriona, was so welcoming and so helpful. The rooms were charming and spacious. The breakfast was perfectly cooked with local produce. The Queen Anne house is most attractive and with beautiful grounds and it has indoor swimming pool too. A superb B & B.

Beautiful old building dated 1700s, tastefully and appropriately decorated. Rooms served their purpose and our bed was extremely comfortable. Had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was spot on πŸ‘πŸ». Had a lovely walk around the grounds and found a honesty shop. The biscuits were delicious Even purchased some doggie treats which my dog can't get enough of πŸ˜‚. Finally the staff were super friendly and polite. All In all we had a wonderful experience and would definitely book here again. Thankyou

Arrived here for a single night stay and already extremely impressed. The appearance of the building is exquisite it dates back to around 1700 and it really looks the part. We booked a deluxe room and while it isn’t the biggest hotel room I’ve stayed in it is certainly one of the nicest, original period features such as wooden beams and fireplaces make it feel very homely. The bed is very comfortable and a nice thick duvet on top. I would certainly recommend this place to stay if you are in the Norwich area !

A beautiful Jacobean country house in a quiet and very peaceful location but in easy reach of Norwich. The grounds are extensive with various well being centres and a rather random farm shop. The first impression was somewhat spoiled by rather modern metal and plastic garden furniture and tatty garden borders. I was greeted by a very pleasant lady who checked me in, took my breakfast order and then carried my case up to the room. The room was large and bright with dual aspect windows. A four poster bed, sofa, chairs and table completed the room. Not enough plugs to charge phones and laptop. Reasonable free wifi. There was a bright shower room which was clean but had a bit of a whiff from the shower drain. No on-site restaurant so was pointed in the direction of the nearest places to eat. Deliveries can be ordered in. The bed was comfortable and clean and the house was quiet. A lovely hot shower in the morning. Breakfast was disappointing. Watery scrambled eggs almost white in colour so not free range. Rubbery sausage and over trimmed bacon.Boiled mushrooms. It tasted like quality had been sacrificed for price. In summary: Beautiful house in need of some tlc Lovely staff Great location for visiting Norwich and surrounding areas but not great for business users. Would I stay again.: No

A beautiful old house managed exceptionally well. The staff are so very friendly and make your stay joyful. Ok - the place may be a little rustic for some but for us it was a wonderful place to stay. Many thanks.

Wonderful place. Helpful, friendly staff. Comfotable & clean - and a great choice for breakfast. Lovely & quiet out in the countryside - but only a short drive into the centre of Norwich or back on to the main road out to the coast. Would recommend and will certainly go back if visiting the area again.

Absolutely fantastic!! We only stayed one night and wish we could have been there more. Nothing was too much for the hosts, so kind, caring and thoughtful. Really wonderful time. Definitely recommend it and will return!!

Lovely old house in a great location for visiting Norwich and the coast, yet rural. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good and beds comfortable. Dogs made to feel very welcome. Recommended and we will stay again when next in the area.
