This place has gone right down the pan. Some of the staff are incredibly rude, toilets and showers smell like human waste, a number of classes are cancelled with no warning, members find out when they arrive and when you post feedback on their Fb page it gets removed. They’re happy to charge if you are unable to attend a class but they don’t do the same when they give you no notice. Some of us have lives to juggle around our gym time. Really disappointing.

Was a lovely centre has now been completely ruined by everyone active. Lane swimming timetable has been completely decimated, sessions cancelled left right and centre with no notification and a new low of a session cancelled while we were in the pool today. If you have an option, go somewhere else.

Unfortunately the gym is full of young lads in groups of 3 or 4, who spend a long time on each piece of equipment, meaning that it’s rare for you to get on the equipment you actually want to use. It’s such a shame! Especially when they charge £40 a month! Simply gym is probably a better option, and it’s a lot cheaper.

This gym is absolutely awful, over run by young kids who have no courtesy for other members , staff are non existent. Have complained to new owners and been fobbed off. Have just been in there and it is ridiculous, 8 young lads on one of the two racks for over an hour pushing each other and messing about. Sick of it and will only be a matter of time before there’s an accident or someone loses there rag. Would advise potential new members to avoid.

Unfortunately, since the owner changed, the gym has not improved, and has gotten worse. Most of the gym staff spend most of their time standing around doing very little. The equipment is mostly old and in need of replacing or refurbishing. Equipment breaks regularly and stays broken for far too long. WiFi coverage is rubbish and completely unsecured, both being unexceptable. Existing annual members are unfairly being punished as they refuse to give them free classes where other members now get that benefit. Very poor overall.

The only leisure centre that doesn't have natural light. Most depressing experience I have had. AVOID

First impressions count. On the look out to sign up to a new gym and decided to visit this leisure centre as it is conveniently located near home. Walked in and spoke to a lady called Jill at the front desk. I walked in smiled and said good morning (as you do) but was greeted with a blank stare and no response. I then proceeded to ask how she was doing and if she was ok. Her response was “yh”. I straight away felt unwelcome for whatever reason. Initially I was interested in the “day pass” allowing you to use the gym for 1 day as advertised on the website. As fitness is an important investment for me and I would not want to sign up to a gym membership and regretting it down the line. However I was first told that this is not possible and one could only “see” the gym before joining a monthly membership. To which see said most people don’t come at 6am in the morning to try the gym and she wouldn’t be able to show me around anyway as she would need to have another member of staff with her. Upon Jill showing me a list of membership prices and responding to my questions. She eventually asked if I wanted to see the gym. Where she asked another member of staff to show me the gym. This gentleman was OK. Seemed to be apart of the swim staff so he asked another lady working in the gym section to show me around who probably gave me the best experience as she came across as more polite and enthusiastic. Based on my experience/first impression with the staff I would not sign up with this gym. Also being a weightlifting enthusiast, wouldn’t recommend this leisure centre. As the range of weight lifting equipment in comparison to other places is sparse. If you are in to swimming and classes then this maybe for you. However for a little more and slightly further out like Bedford or MK (Fitness First, DL) you can get a much better customer experience and access to a higher quality gym/leisure centre in every department. A no brainier for me. If you can compromise on quality of facilities and staff for convenience than this may be for you.

Used to love taking the kids over for a swim on a Friday after school. However since the leisure centre has been taken over you can no longer just turn up. Apparently it's all closed off for swimming lessons. So much for a public swimming pool. If its closed for swimming lessons only how can it be a public swimming pool . Seems like they might be putting money making before the general public. But that's just life there days I suppose

My daughter has enjoyed swimming lessons here from the age of 6 months. Do register your kids early as there’s a waiting list. Good pool, and well heated. Changing facilities are good but sometimes needs cleaning more often. The new company who has taken over the sports centre has made booking the next stage sessions a nightmare! Surely there should be a system that you can book the same swimming instructor and have some continuity in the key stage process?! Please sort out your app and process otherwise you will lose clients. 5 stars for the current swimming instructor who’s has a wealth of experience, knowledge and has given my daughter the confidence to swim. I am taking time to edit this review with a 1 star!! The swimming facilities and a particular swimming instructor (not the one previously mentioned who has left), has completely gone downhill. There is an issue with safeguarding. I have complained to the sports centre and the council. I will be making alternative arrangements for swimming lessons for my child.

Where do I start, so many problems with this place from rude staff to hygiene issues, dirty Changing room, dirty pool facilities and staff looking unprofessional and not being well presented. For the price I would expect Better. The only reason this place has members is down to there being no competition locally if there was this place would suffer big time then they might make some improvements. Staff talk behind your back, I over heard the reception saying rude words about customers that they thought they had on hold but they forgot to do this so every word was heard. Very rude membership team, I actually don't see the point in there job, maybe they should spend more time using the gym themselves maybe this would make them happier. If I could give this 0 Star in would. Won't be back, you have lost my business to MK JD Gym, they even have a sauna.

Unfortunately a lot of people just walk into the changing area and in the swimming pool with outdoor shoes, bringing their dirt inside where adults and children are walking barefoot. Is a good place and the staff is very friendly but enforcing shoes cover or removing the shoes would be great. In France all swimming pools have a small poodle in the pool entrance with product to clean the feet and avoid people walking in with shoes

Would give it 0 if I could. Where do I start? This gym is worse than any gym I have been to, in comparison to gyms in 2 of the UK's supposed worst towns - Luton and Birmingham. Dirty often. Clumps of mess under machines like the stairmasters. Showers and men's changing room smells and is often dirty. Hot water doesn't come out the showers and there's no sign up to say so. I've had a brain injury so these sort of things really really make me angry. JUST LEAVE A Sign. I take my contact lenses out, to have a shower and am virutally blind once I do. Naked and jump in the shower to find not an ounce of hot water coming out. Just the basics of having working suitable hand-wash dispensers seems an issue in this gym. Theres either no soap in the dispenser or the dispenser in completely broken/not there. People go and take dumps and don't even wash there hands then go train and touch up the equipment. Is it that hard. Go and buy some from tesco if it is and just leave it next to the sink! The staff that sit in that little office outside the training hall above the staircase are a bunch of see you next Tuesdays. Pretend to busy on the phone when you go in there. Go and do some work and clean the gym. Ampthill is cryinggg out for a new premium gym. Wake up. The only gym for all these villages is flitwick leisure centre which is a shambles. Piccadilly circus with loads of kids everywhere hogging the equipment/ on the phones and chatting away. So much land. Should be majorly refurbed and extended. Ampthill needs a new premium gym. It's an affluent Borough but really needs to open up and expand just like Solihull in the west Midlands

Below average gym. Clearly cant afford any form of music subscription so play Absolute radio instead (amongst others). Always painfully ironic when you hear ads for competitor gym groups whilst working out…

EA are sucking the fun out of swimming with their approach, fueled by excessive fear of an accident. Children learn through play and at this centre fun is not allowed. The organisation of swimming and delivery is driven by their own agenda and not for the growth of swimming as a sport. My children have lost their enthusiasm for swimming here.

I hate this gym and only use it because there are no alternatives nearby. Gym is old and tired, with constant maintenance issues. Toilets reek. Changing room is badly laid out. Free weights area old and too small. Full of school kids milling around from 3:30pm. Don’t say you haven’t been warned.

Poor Hygiene Levels. Overall the leisure centre is fine for general gym/swim use etc… The hygiene and cleanliness levels are however terrible: As of my visit 11/09/23 the gym floor had no wipes/tissue/anti-bacterial spray/hand sanitiser etc to clean or wipe down equipment. Likewise, the floor area and equipment is very dirty/soiled. I surely can’t be the only person who wants to clean/wipe down equipment before and after use?

Congested swimming lanes since EA took over. Mandatory booking for swimming for members doesn’t work. Lots of issues since the new management took over and no signs of them taking any notice of customer feedback.

My comment focuses on aqua ed swimming lessons. The manager is rude, dismissive and unwilling to listen. The swimming classes are very overcrowded, 8 children per lesson and most of the children's pool time is spent at the side waiting for their turn to swim. I would not recommend aqua ed for swim lessons.

Cancelled my membership months ago and since EA took over my direct debit has been re taken again (without my permission) have spent the last 2 weeks ringing the centre and emailing EA with no response Emailed the MD directly today- so far no reply Can’t make any contact with the centre to sort out a issue they have made and as a result I am £40 short!

Bit out of the way. If my daughter hadn't shown me the way I would have thought it was a building site to be honest. Nice and clean inside. Man in coffee shop didnt seem very happy !! Maybe had a bad day!!

New to area so trying out gyms - tried this on a day pass. The gym at this leisure centre feels like a leisure centre. It’s not comparable with cheap gyms like Pure/Anytime/The Gym - I think they’re better as gyms, but not any round Flitwick. The weights equipment is mismatched and quite old. The dumbbells go up to 56kg which is wild considering there is no bench press or any other barbell pressing equipment. There are two squat racks and two smith machines, but as no bench press I think these will be difficult to use in peak times. Tonnes of cardio and weights machines but the free weights area lacks. Will be joining another gym.

Great swimming pool with good showers and changing area. Lockers require a pound coin which is reusable.

Whispering Willow Stream offers a calming escape along the babbling brook. The well-marked trail is great for a leisurely stroll, and the gentle sounds of flowing water provide a soothing backdrop. It's an ideal spot for unwinding and connecting with nature.

Great! Very reasonable price with number of activities to choose from. However, I have only used swimming their pool and I must say it is well worth the money.

Good value and excellent online booking system. If you plan to use regularly buy the general membership package which gives discounts on public bookings. Friendly staff and nice facilities.

Reception staff are lovely and more then happy to help with any queries they can. Pool is clean but the temperature can really vary from visit to visit. Theres a good variety of changing facilities and lockers available and they are generally clean and tidy.

I don't go here anymore as the receptionists have poor customer service skills and the booking of a swim seems so unnecessarily complicated. I will not participate in track and trace. I will go elsewhere where I can pay with cash and am greeted with a smile.

I booked the 3G pitch out for my son's 13th bday party. They had a great time and I was happy with the price for 2hours rental. Defo recommend, defo would do again Good size for 5 a side.

Love this place, The instructors are really helpful in the gym. The swimming pool isn't normally too busy considering its popularity. Classes cover a huge range of activities, thoroughly impressed.

Not used much of the services there as I only take swim schools in on a coach. The centre as a whole looks modern and accessible for all people. They also serve Costa Coffee 🙂

  • 3/5 michelle a. 1 year ago on Google
It’s great centre with a great pool. I use it for swimming, reason i have only given 3 stars is because it’s missing a sauna/steam room and jacuzzi which is main reason I drive further to another leisure centre and dont purchase a membership here

  • 5/5 Louise R. 1 year ago on Google
Always love coming here, the reception staff are friendly and helpful, the centre is always sparkling clean, the changing rooms are always been sprayed down and the pool is immaculate. The best to come!
