Pagotan
is
an
area
in
Madiun
Regency
which
once
held
various
interesting
histories
and
stories
in
its
history.
One
of
the
historical
stories
is
in
the
sugar
factory.
The
sugar
factory
is
called
PG
Pagotan.
According
to
the
historical
story,
PG
Pagotan
was
founded
in
1884
by
NV
COOY
COOSTERN
VAN
VOORH
and
had
the
characteristics
of
a
simple
building
at
that
time.
In
1905,
the
PG
Pagotan
building
made
improvements
to
its
construction
and
perfected
the
installation.
If
you
look
at
its
history,
PG
Pagotan
has
gone
through
a
very
long
period,
starting
from
the
Dutch
colonial
period,
Japanese
colonialism,
and
then
currently
being
taken
over
by
BUMN.
During
the
Japanese
colonial
period,
this
sugar
factory
was
used
as
a
cement
factory
whose
raw
materials
were
in
the
Slahung
area,
Ponorogo.
If
you
look
closely
at
the
building
behind
the
sugar
factory,
there
is
an
old
building
that
used
to
be
Pagotan
Station.
Pagotan
station
was
built
so
that
the
transportation
of
sugar
cane
and
sugar
would
run
smoothly.
However,
unfortunately,
in
1984
this
station
was
no
longer
active
because
it
was
unable
to
compete
with
other
vehicles
such
as
public
transportation
and
private
vehicles.
