A very big gallery with great artwork (if you're a fan of it). You need at least a couple of hours to see all of it. The ticket is 500 rubbles for adults. But I'd recommend the Shimov gallery. Much more impressive.

It has day off on Monday. They close at 21 but it has a lot of arts in there so if you want to look around all you should visit early for looking all of them. If you visit Moscow then you have to visit here. It will take almost 4-5 hours to look around normally. You should check it. The entrance price 400 ruble as i remember with this price can enjoy the art? There is no reason to not visit here.

Bigger and richer than I expected. Chronicle of famous Russian paintings, I spent time in the first halls and then I noticed there are more stunning masterpieces in the latest halls. There are souvenirs shops and cafe that i didn't check them. You need around 3 hours at least, it's better to ask for audio guide or guide. I found info about some famous paintings on Google, but for sure having guide makes this visit more apprehensible.

(Translated by Google) Tretyakov State Gallery (also called Tretyakovskaya) (Russian: Государственная Третьяковская галерея) - The art museum founded by merchant Pavel Tretyakov in Moscow in 1856. It is home to some of the most important fine art collections in the world. Pavel Tretyakov began collecting works for his own collection from the mid-1850s. These works were opened to the public in 1893 under the name of Pavel and Sergey Tretyakov - Moscow City Gallery. The exhibited collection included 1276 paintings, 471 drawings and 10 sculptures by Russian artists. On June 3, 1918, the gallery was declared the Property of the Russian Federative Soviet Republic by the Revolutionary government and took its present name. II of the Soviet Union. With its entry into World War II, the Tretyakov State Gallery, as well as other Soviet museums, was prepared for a possible evacuation. In the middle of the summer of 1941, a train train of 17 wagons transported the museum's works from Moscow to Novosibirsk. The museum reopened in its former place on May 14, 1945, less than a week after the Soviet Union entered Berlin. The museum, which was merged with the State Painting Gallery in 1985, was closed to visitors between 1986 and 1995 due to renovations.

The State Tretyakov Gallery Visited on 8/10/2019 In front of The State Tretyakov Gallery stands the statue of Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov, a Moscow merchant who acquired the works by Russian artists of his day. His collection of about 2000 works was later presented to the city of Moscow as a gift. The Tretyakov family acquired this house where The State Tretyakov Gallery is standing. As Tretyakov's collection grew, more and more extensions were added to the original house. The State Tretyakov Gallery is now an art gallery, houses an exposition of Russian art of the 12th - early 20th century. It occupies 62 rooms on two floors. The collection contains more than 130,000 exhibits. Although I am not an artist or art enthusiast, I cannot deny that I am very impressed by the paintings, some are gigantic in size, depicting portraits of prominent figures of Russian culture.

Obviously it was raining and cold when we were waiting in line to get in (we visited Russia in fall). There were a lot of tourists and guide groups inside as it is a famous place. Basically, if you know something about paintings, art, or History - you will find at least one paining you are familiar with. Take a guided group obviously so you know what's where and learn something new and interesting. Some paintings are as old as from 1100's all the way till now modern time.

There are some points which must precisely be considered. 1) It is a MUST to go there in the morning, unless you cannot cover all its parts. 2) You definitely need to have an English map to figure out how the gallery has been organized. 3) Do not miss any part. If you are in short of time or sth else, plan to come again. The gallery is really a dynamic ocean of art.

I wasn't well introduced to Russian artists really, so this is a wonderful surprise. Russian artists didn't only draw for formalities but a lot more that appeals to normal uneducated public. The amazing works on fairy tales, nationalism, nature, humor, etc was a great surprise. I loved it and would certainly go there again. Several times if I can. NOTE. Google Maps tells you it closes at 6pm. Right, but last ticket sold to enter is by 5pm then they block entry and wait till 6pm to have all audience inside to leave. I tried to do something about it, but Google Maps is just not geared to handle this.

This is the "must visit" gallery when in Moscow. It had been closed for many years for renovation. There are so many masterpieces of so many artists exhibited so can spend a whole day (or even more) inside. From time to time there are "special exhibitions", e.g. Arkhip Kuindzhi some 2 years ago, which are always worth a visit.

What an amazing memorable place when i went in i wasn't sure of the amount of beautiful Art present at this gallery my original plan was to spend couple of hours only but i ended up being mesmerized and deeply lost in the beautiful paintings and lost track of time. Below you can see some of my favorite paintings at the gallery. I would highly recommending this place if you are Art lover like me.

(Translated by Google) The Tretyakov Gallery is a truly Moscow place, an infinitely deep store of beauty, which generously, thoughtfully and unobtrusively shares its treasures with the outside world. Why Moscow? - Because it is warm, homelike, like Polenov's "Moscow Courtyard". I want to come here again and again. Keeping the past, the Tretyakov Gallery is directed to the future. It is a pity that the construction of a new building has been hanging for so many years, the gloomy and rough silhouette of which spoils the picture of the alley and the embankment. I can't even believe that someday something worthwhile will come out of this monster. While its appearance is certainly not Moscow.

(Translated by Google) Those who consider themselves a cultured person should visit the Tretyakov Gallery. The gallery has 60 rooms, there is a buffet with an expensive snack. In the first 7 halls there is no way to sit down, if you look carefully, you need to gain strength and patience. Starting from hall 8, there are places for a little rest. You won't even be able to look closely at the main exposition in a day. There is an audio guide, as well as tour guides.

The State Tretyakov Gallery  is an art gallery in Moscow, Russia, the foremost depository of Russian fine art in the world. The gallery's history starts in 1856 when the Moscow merchant Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov acquired works by Russian artists of his day with the aim of creating a collection, which might later grow into a museum of national art. In 1892, Tretyakov presented his already famous collection of approximately 2,000 works (1,362 paintings, 526 drawings, and 9 sculptures) to the Russian nation. The façade of the gallery building was designed by the painter Viktor Vasnetsov in a peculiar Russian fairy-tale style. It was built in 1902–04 to the south from the Moscow Kremlin. During the 20th century, the gallery expanded to several neighboring buildings, including the 17th-century church of St. Nicholas in Tolmachi. The collection contains more than 130,000 exhibits, ranging from Theotokos of Vladimir and Andrei Rublev's Trinity to the monumental Composition VII by Wassily Kandinsky and the Black Square by Kazimir Malevich. In 1977 the Gallery kept a significant part of the George Costakis collection. In May 2012, the Tretyakov Art Gallery played host to the prestigious FIDE World Chess Championship between Viswanathan Anand and Boris Gelfand as the organizers felt the event would promote both chess and art at the same time.

This gallery is an unique place which must be protected and preserved as better as possible.. I’m still so astound - the painting collection makes me think how great can actually be the humans;)) don’t laugh 😂 but only the concern .. would the Russia be able to maintain the needed care to that priceless place properly and.. take the responsibility... I wish the best to its future:()

Emotions blew me away, although I have always been extremely calm about art galleries. An important point to look at at a time, if you are not a "cracker" and not a marathon runner, do not count. Overpowering is extremely difficult and pointless. The staff is happy. All are extremely correct, they will prompt, tell, show. Prices. For the entrance expected. For the rest it is already less comfortable. But these are prices for additional services that are not at all mandatory.

They do not accept foreigners certicates. PcR test with qr codes are only good for 48 hrs. You may get them at local clincs for about $40. Clinics are incredibly fast with the results. Pay for expedited results. Hotels will charge you $80-150. Most public places require QR code. Good luck
