It’s always been a good breakfast diner. Nothing fancy just simple and good. I had the skirt steak and eggs, wheat toast and coffee. They do know how to grill a steak rare and the meat is not a tough old leathery cow.

I always order the most simplest meal a 2 egg breakfast hash browns well done bacon well done and white toast.... The last three times I've gone to get my breakfast my hash browns are literally still raw.... I would not recommend going to this restaurant it's overpriced low-quality food.. Nice if you're drunk and need something to eat late night but I would definitely recommend trying to find an alternative before spending any money at this establishment... Even when I tip for a takeout order although my name is remembered they just can't get my order correct Update went back to the restaurant this time to sit in. Ordered the same breakfast. Two eggs over hard white toast, bacon and hash browns. Well done once again. I got served the raw bacon and hash browns that don't even look like they were on the grill for longer than a minute... I will not try to give them any business ever again. I try to go here because it's within a walking distance of my house but I'll never go here again after tipping for months and getting no acknowledgment from the same waitresses that I give tips to and for the cooking staff to literally brush off and mark my request for well done hash browns and bacon because I know they don't know how to cook. There is upsetting... The new owners should actually revamp this place. Get rid of all the cooks start from scratch with the actual respectful, polite staff...

I was there to pickup an order for my mother and the brownies at the counter caught my eye. First, they are circular so that was one thing. Then the cashier told me they are baked fresh daily from scratch. Let me tell you something, these are the BEST brownies I’ve had from a restaurant or bakery ever! They are moist and chewy! I’m in love 😍

Horrible experience. I have frequented this establishment for forty years. I will never bother again. I ordered a very easy meal, steak and eggs. First the waitress was very strange. She would walk up to the table and not speak. So, I engaged her and she stood there and just looked around. Then my meal came by the manager. The steak was well done and was ordered medium rare. The eggs were ordered over medium and came cooked only on top as if once flipped they were taken off the grill 2 seconds later because the whites were not cooked underneath. I had to beg for the toast. That took two tries. No one seemed to care. So I left. The cashier just put her hand out for payment. Does no one know how to speak anymore? I had a bad experience 3 years ago but I thought I would give it a try again. Nailed that coffin shut. Folks, don't expect anything like the Wheel of the past, it no longer exists.

Homey feel. Traditional diner style decor and food. The staff make you feel welcome and take very good care of their customers. A great stop for a big meal!

The food was amazing and cooked nearly to perfection! My server was Brianna and she was just so attentive to everything that was going on around and she was making sure that me and some of my friends were good with everything that we’ve had! Atmosphere was good and gave a very old timey vibe!

I will never eat from the wheel again the way they serve their food could make someone sick I am a food safety manager and the way that I see it I would never serve food like this to my customers….. One the food is cold I order bacon from there less then 20 mins ago and my bacon is raw it’s a food safety hazard and because it’s pork it’s in the temperature danger zone I hope that no one gets sick and have to go to the hospital because of that I wouldn’t even give it to my dog because it could make her sick… The Wheel you all need to do better

Our waitress was great, I think her name Leslie, young Hispanic dark brown hair, petite young lady, best server ever!!! Had jokes, good mood and did not wait that long for our food😍 we had a great time!! Definitely will go back!!! The hot rolls we're great!!!

Affordable food, large amounts. I got a turtle cheesecake slice and it was little thin compared to all the other cheese cake. I wish they had something for little ones to color when waiting. They have forgot my kids order that I had please 10 minutes before placing my own. I guess to make up for the situation they added extra tenders, or at least that's what it looked like. Fast and friendly and good food.

Loved the waffle. The best I've ever had in the Midwest. Another honorable mention. Try the German pancake. Absolutely delicious!!

Great Breakfast! We stopped here driving through states and looking for a good breakfast. There are so many options, there is something to please everyone. The portions are generous and I love that you can get a side of pancakes, waffle or french toast as a subsitiute for toast with the breakfast plates. Service was excelent, and our food was served quick. I will definately be stopping here again!

Food is great as always BUT this visit the bread was so hard I couldn't cut it with a knife. We were told the warmer temp was to high and they compensated us with another bowl of soup with Fresh bread 🍞 😋

We flew in from Las Vegas, stayed in Chicago and drove to Indiana to eat breakfast as part of our 3 day in 3 states tour. Met Sara, our waitress. She's so pleasant.

Nothing fantastic. I ordered a skillet and got an omelet. The server rang in an omelet so no fault of the kitchen. Had to ask for coffee refills. Not going to hurry to go back.

Since changing ownership the wheel has gotten better all around. The wait staff is nice now and they were just some straight meanies before. Also the new food menu is very well versed, you are going to find something you want to eat for sure. The food is better now as well. The old manager was a grumpy jerk and he didn't care that the waitress were so rude. So glad the wheel has changed for the better.

We had a large group today 17 + for New years eve breakfast/lunch . It was a last minute gathering for the family. Our hostess was not only attentive but very courteous considering the volume of customers dining. Our server did a fantastic job with everyone's orders. With a group that large, everyone received their food as ordered. Everyone was pleased. Can't wait to dine here again.

We walked into the restaurant the hostess greeted us, she was very pleasant, there were two people in front of us so, of course she sat them first and then she sat us, She told us to enjoy your meal and walked away. About 10 minutes later our waitress came up to the table and told us she would be right with us. Once she got to us we gave her our order, you could tell she was very nervous, so I knew it was probably her first or second day maybe third. She was a very young Mexican girl. She didn't smile she did not greet us she just walked up to the table and asked if we were ready to order. She took our order, about 5 minutes later she brought us our soups and salads. She brought the wrong dressing on my salad which happens and I was okay with that once she brought me the correct one. And then our meals came and my friend had a ham and cheese croissant and I had a Mexican dish with a large burrito on it and chips. I do apologize, I wish I would have taken a picture, because I usually do. I assure you, our food was delicious. The waitress came and asked if our food was okay and we asked her to bring us boxes, she brought us boxes and bags. She gave us her check and walked away and came back a few minutes later offering us dessert with our food. You get ice cream or Jello or pudding with your order. If you're ever in Hammond and hungry I definitely suggest stopping by here, you get a lot of food for your money! And if you just happen to get a new waitress just remember everybody has to start somewhere and they are very nervous and give them a break don't be rude to them even if they don't smile or greet you, because they don't know how to walk up to a table correctly yet. Give them at least a month go back ask for that waitress and see how much she has improved and you will see the difference. My advice to the young waitress if she is still there, is take one table at a time and always smile and check on your table more than once and greet them when you walk up to the table with that smile. And if you're not busy and you have tables start up a conversation with them get to know them that's how you build your clientele. I've been in this line of work before I know how hectic it could be especially at lunch time at a very busy restaurant. Will I return to this restaurant, most definitely! So take a chance if you've never been there you will not be dissatisfied, unless you're in a bad mood when you go in or you're an unhappy person. And we all know there's always someone like that everyday in the restaurant business!

I took my husband today for his birthday and he absolutely loved it. I appreciated the professional personable service. I wish The Wheel much success, because we were treated like family and not customers. The food came fast, and tasted good, all I can say is go and experience it for yourself.

Food looked very flavorful. But looks were deceiving. I got the Italian pork chops with potatoes. Service was great and fast. The only other issue was waiting to pay. We could have dined and dashed because no one wanted to come over to the cash register. Almost everyone looked our way and continued to do their tasks. By the time we flagged a person down there was a line of people waiting to pay. The lady who did take our money thought we were waiting for a seat even though she was the one that sat us down at our table. Restroom was impressively clean as was the rest of the place. I've been told breakfast is 100 times better. If ever that direction I will stop in to try it. Menu was like what country would you like to try, they had a little bit of everything. Those kind of menus I usually stick to items that you can't screw up, like Italian beefs, French dip subs, etc.

Old School, (vinyl booths, fresh baked goods on display, daily specials, etc.) in that feel good, almost nostalgic way, a diner that is just that, a diner with all the classics and a little more to offer - the food! Famous for their lemon orzo soup, which earned it's place in this soup lovin' Ladies dreams. Would stop in just to pick some up! The kind of place I remember visiting with my family and miss. Excellent service, clean environment and an open faced pork chop sandwich, seasoned and fried to perfection, which I would order again, and did I mention that soup! 💯

I went 2 days b/c of the food. If I could do 1/2 STARS. Service was solid. Food was awesome.(Skillets were The best) The floors were nasty, when people exit (they need to be cleaning & disinfectanting). On both days there were a lot of flies.

Great family restaurant. Generous portions. You would never think to order the Salisbury steak. It's the best I've ever had! Don't let your childhood memories of Swanson, Hungry Man or school lunches deter you from ordering it 😋

My son, husband and myself came here for a nice dinner. We had all the beginning service just fine, however the follow through service was terrible! Our server told me my sirloin would come with onions mushrooms and peppers just like the chopped sirloin, long story short it didn't my steak was cold by the time they brought out my toppings for my steak, upon trying to eat it cold it was so bland I just couldn't. My husband asked for a medium rare steak greek style it came out plain and we asked for them to make it Greek so they put it back on made it Greek but it was well done. Our server never asked us if we would like refills this was just terrible service. I was going to apply here too since I just moved to Hammond and I've been serving for years but after this I think not. On a positive note the lemon rice soup is great.
