So I went to this bakery I've always gotten my cakes there but after this I will NEVER go again!!! They completely ruin this. I ordered this cake on June 28th and I picked it up on the day of the birthday party I ordered half sheet chocolate cake buttercream frosting strawberry filling filling and strawberry on top of the cake with pixie dust And it came out all wrong marble cake, whipped cream, no strawberry toppings, no pixie dust....everything was wrong and to pay $129.86...absolutely ridiculous NEVER TRUST THIS PLACE it's not the same anymore VERY DISAPPOINTING!!

I went to there location for n 106st placed a order for a cake for a baby shower, I just wanted a round cake simple no decorations, I ask for a lemon yellow cake. I was charged a additional $10 for the butterscotch frosting to be pink total of $47, went to pick up the order the cake was not evenly frosted, I dead going to leave the cake but I chose to take it. Once we had the party and we cut the cake OMG worst cake extremely dry had no taste and the frosting was About 2 inches thick will NEVER order or go there again.

Honeslty the best cake ever! Moist, fresh and decorating was perfect ! This is my fourth time ordering a cake and I am always beyond satisfied! In addition to frequently going for cookies and pastries which are also always fresh! Kudos to them on a job always well done! Definitely recommend! Five stars isn’t enough, don’t believe me? Try it for yourself

The cake was beautiful, but the wording was wrong , and when I took it back up there it took them 30minutes to fix it plus my name was smeared off at that point. First time coming to this location please do better by listening, and paying attention Update : The cake tasted like dye couldn’t even eat it a waste of my money

My first time here and I promise to return. I purchased chocolate chip cookies that I don’t eat. I’m a diabetic and they were amazing. I purchased my mothers 80th birthday cake,Atomic. Absolutely delicious their food isn’t sugary but flavorful and light. Everyone at the celebration Loved it. I’ll be a returning recommending customer ❤️❤️

I've been ordering cakes from Cal City Bakery for almost 8 years this is why I'm comfortable enough saying the past 2.5 years they have went completely down hill...I thought it was just me but family, friends and neighbors who've ordered from there recently have all had the same complaints starting with submitting request for specialty cakes and receiving something totally different, with no compassion for the upset patron or a reasonable resolution to rectify the situation. Secondly the quality of their cakes have gone down the drain as well, the inside matters as much as the outside and the past few cakes I've had from cal City Bakery tasted dry old or rushed like they are pushing old cakes vs tossing them in the trash. If you don't believe me, they have went viral on social media for their lack or quality cakes and customer service. Folks lie but all those people can't be wrong. I haven't been back and I won' t be but I do thank you for the good years, . Mabey have the store undergo a refreshers course on quality control, or customer service ya know, anyhoo stay blessed!

I went in their for the first time and the young girls that work there have a very rude and nonchalant attitude! For me to come and spend $60plus dollars or better I should definitely have great service! My family has bought dozens of donuts, cakes and pastries from this place! The owner should know that his staff is running away long time customers! But the desserts are awesome though!

I've always supported this place since state line. Beautiful job on my wedding cake. Recently ordered a half sheet for a very special event and the picture I sent was placed on the cake horribly. It was very disheartening to me. Tried again and this time it was their customer service. I'm not sure people know how to be polite or if phone etiquette is not taught.....but any person who contacts your business is a potential client they should all be treated with respect. If you have a person who doesn't know what to order or has questions don't be rude. Even still if someone gets to the point thank them. What I witnessed at my time of visit was neither or those. The cakes might be delicious but why do people have to encounter such an unpleasant approach to get them?

*This is for the (new) location on 4019 East 106th St. Chicago, IL- on the South-East Side* Nice, welcoming, friendly service. I bought 2 regular coffees, a half dozen donuts (not shown) & 2 slices of Strawberry cheesecake. Coffee & Donuts were fresh and delicious (didn't get a chance for a picture) lol we later ate the cheesecake at home and it was just as yummy. I'm glad they take credit cards as well as cash, would only wish they had a larger variety (like at the other locations) and that they would have carryout boxes. Would recommend.

Should of read the reviews but I was desperate for a cake for my son. Every other bakery their cake person was on vacation or whatever other excuse. The cake was not what I expected. I paid $60 I expected a little more. I did order an edible image but it was never mentioned it would be a small image in the middle. My taughts was it was going to be the whole cake. The borders look rush and I don't know how to describe it. To me it was not worth my money. But I guess like they say pay cheap you get what you get. Lesson learned. The girls look like they don't know what their doing. Their nice but they need help. I'm disappointed

Excellent bakery. Old school favorites you would expect. Great cakes made fresh too. By far the best paczki in the area. Really nice custom cakes made to order. Friendly staff and really nice owners. Give them a try if you haven't already done so, you won't be disappointed.

I ordered a custom birthday cake from here with a 3-day notice. For a last-minute order, the cake I got was perfect. Not only did the design look better than the reference photos I provided, the cake itself was delicious. I had a vanilla cake with Oreo filling. The staff was very helpful and paid attention to every detail. I would definitely recommend this bakery for custom cake orders!

I’ve ordered cakes from here before and never had a problem until this last time, I ordered a full sheet cake for a kids party which was suppose to have no filling plain vanilla cake when we cut into it, it was filled with strawberries the kids were disappointed and didn’t eat it (some were allergic). Reached out to the bakery everyday for a week and couldn’t get a hold of the manager and never received a call from her after leaving numerous messages with her employees. When I finally got a hold of her she knew about the situation just didn’t bother to reach out, and offered a $15 credit or a small 8 inch round cake, when I paid $48 for the cake that wasn’t correctly done. I suggested to have another cake remade the way I ordered it and the manager said no. This place has poor customer service and will never recommend it to anyone again!

I would give 0 stars and I’m only in here because it’s my birthday and I don’t have a cake.I ordered 3 cakes from here before over the phone and always paid for my cake the same day as pick up. I order a cake for my birthday on July 16 12noon but called them on July 10th and placed my order. It’s my birthday today and I went to pick my cake up 12 today and I was informed my cake wasn’t made. The lady lied and said I should’ve came and put a deposit down. These people are unprofessional and I would recommend them.

I was going here for years and moved 1000 miles away drove back and bought the suppposedly buttered cookies that tasted more like lemon. I bought 2 boxes and had to throw them away. I brought some back for others and they agreed definitively not how they used to be and no kolachkys. I guess I won’t be going back there. It’s a shame. Miss the old one. Actually I miss Stephan’s bakery. However last year when I came to your bakery which I believe cal city bakery bought Stephan’s and you move to Burnham ave last year it was good tasted butter in the cookies not this year. Very unprofessional how they handled the whole situation and poor customer service that I can’t even get refund a on specialty cake they messed up on. As you can see it’s not chocolate. This place just lost a good paying customer.

I was told to email a picture of what we wanted the cake to look, and what we wanted on the cake. I went to pick the cake up, and it didn’t look anything like the picture I initially sent. All I received were excuses as to why the cake was different but didn’t discount it or give any reasonable ways to rectify the blatant mistake. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone that wants a job done right for their special occasion. Pictures below.

All I have to say Alex the worker is amazing, he truly deserves the world with how nice he is. He is so hardworking and dedicated to what he is doing. I have major respect for him. Keep up the good work Alex!!

First time I went and ordered their bomb cake for my eldest birthday. I called not even a month later and placed an order for my youngest child's birthday who was turning 1. I went to pick up and they had nit made my cake. The owner came out and said I was supoosed to have paid so far in advance but thwybdidnt tell me that when I placed the order. And I paid at the time of pickup wheb I orderd eldest son's cake 3 weeks prior to that. The owner said well I dont who did that and went on to say they has nee employees as an excuse as to why they didnt tell me about the pay policy. Never apologized. Didnt try to resolve the issue and the owner was very rude about it. I even asked well knowing you have new employees and seeing that an order still hadnt been paid why couldn't you all at least called as a courtesy to the your customer. His response well you supposed to pay in advance. I replied well if I wasn't told that how am I supposed to know. He response was well thats our policy once again. Never been back and I purchase many cakes a year.

What I asked for vs. what I got smh…they messed my baby cake up so bad, she cried in the car…once I showed the lady at the front, she understood and tried to fix it….thank you
