My choice of the daily-menu (starter, main, dessert) was just awful, still hungry after dinner.

I went here twice and all I can say is that the menu (15euros) is really filling (a bit too much for me and my friends, all of us struggled through the main course). The food is ok (my favourite is the chocolate puffs dessert), but my advice is to stay out from being adventurous and trying food that you normally don't dare to eat (e.g. cow's stomach), and save the experience for expensive restaurants (as they would be more sophisticated in the taste of food). It is good to ask for the waiter's suggestions (some of them speak English and are very nice!). Be prepared to have a huge meal as the portion of each course is relatively large! The onion soup is very heavy with a giant splash of cheese on top, served with bread. It filled me up quickly, hence I was in shock when I saw how big the lamb knuckle was for the main course. It is strong in taste so if you are not a big fan of lamb you should try something else. The Praline cake served with vanilla ice cream is delicious so I really recommend this if you want to try local delicacies. The cervelle de canut is a mixture of cheese, shallots, herbs and vinegar, so its pretty nice with bread. But the entrée is richly stuffed with two more different things. The cow stomach (tribe) with tomato sauce was fine for me as I have had cow's stomach before, but my Canadian friends nearly puked at the sight of it (they didn't like the smell either). I had to change plates and finish her's. The andouiette is a large pork sausage packed with a mixture of intestines, served with mustard sauce and potatoes. It is quite interesting and the taste is fine too but not attractive enough for me to try it again haha. I ended up with chocolate puffs with loads of cream and chocolate sauce, so its heavenly as I have quite a sweet tooth :) The service of this restaurant depends on the servers you get, but I have a generally positive impression of the waiters and waitresses. A good choice to try local lyonnais cuisines for a reasonable price!

We had a wonderful dinner here. Very reasonable price and the food was great. Portions are big, and we were full by the end of the night. I recommend you try it out. It was very busy when we came here and only had to wait a few minutes but probably worth booking a table.

What an amazing meal and great value! The quenelle was nothing like expected. The brioche fish dumpling was amazingly light and paired nicely with the lobster sauce which was decadent without being heavy. (I could munch bread dripping with that sauce all day.) I can only wish that a lobster bisque could taste like that, perfectly balanced without excess salt and cream. Generally speaking, the flavors were all very well balanced and tasty without any of the bloat that you might anticipate from a meal that could potentially be heavy. This applies to the desserts as well.

We ate here drawn in by the price and expecting either (relatively) low quantity or low quality (or both) but truthfully I had a wonderful meal! We took the menu, which for 15.9€ includes an entree, the main dish and dessert, all of which were copious! Water was included too - we had a basket of bread with several pieces which I believe was as well, and it was quite good, especially for dipping in the delicious sauces. I had the oeuf meurette, which was delicious and included a fair amount of crunchy croutons and bacon. I loved the wine sauce so much that I dipped more bread in to get every last drop! For main dish, I had the bavette (flank steak) with shallot sauce. Truthfully, the meat was a bit overdone for my taste and it could have a better texture overall, but with the flavorful sauce I enjoyed it well. The side of gratin dauphinois outshined it in my opinion - it's hard to get potatoes wrong but it was particularly good, so I was happy that the serving was generous! For dessert, I had the tarte tatin. Its warmth and sweetness had a nice contrast with the vanilla ice cream, both of which were also quite copious and delicious on their own. I am used to restaurant vanilla ice cream being rather bland so I was pleasantly surprised by its taste. The apples were soft but not soggy - the crust could have been better though, especially since they give you only a spoon to cut it and it was a bit hard. The service was attentive, with the waitress realising on her own that our entrees were taking too long and going in to get them almost right away. We were seated outside since the weather was alright when we got there, but the moment it started raining they rolled out the cover so we were barely affected by the sudden shower. All the staff was overall pleasant and helpful. The inside looked beautiful, but definitely cramped. I can see that they make up for the price by serving more meals, which is truthfully only fair. Overall it took us over 1 hour to eat, with somewhat long waiting times in between but nothing out of the ordinary. Be aware of the timing though - we went in at 12:30 and there were plenty of tables available, but within 15 minutes at most they were filled and queues formed right away. I didn't keep track but the waiting time wasn't exactly short, and this kept up until we left. Positive sides: - Tasty food - Unbeatable price - Wonderful location - Nice and attentive staff - English translation included in the menu! - This much should be a given, but clean tableware, changed between dishes. Toilet was decent too. Negative sides: - Cramped inside, not much space - Service could be faster - Some outside tables were not covered by the canopy - The tables outside were simple red plastic tables with no charm, and they were tilted. - We were given coca cola glasses for our water, which also lacks a bit of charm Dish presentation was rather simple, if that bothers you, but personally I found it quite alright (even if the photos look a bit gloomy - rainy day!). Overall, I recommend it 100%! You can probably get somewhat better food by paying considerably more, but I had a genuinely delicious and filling meal for a price you probably won't see in any other bouchon.

I was shopping and stopped by for the "Bouchon Lyonnaise." Being there alone with big shopping bags and a few elderly French couples kept looking at me. After I received my food, the couples smiled seeing that I was trying their food. They even raised their wine glasses and nodded. It was a very sweet and friendly gesture. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the decor. The food was nice, but the people in the restaurant made it feel like home. I'd say try it and you decide.

Reluctant unpleasant French service that does not respect customers. We came with friends to sit and have drinks, they told us that "if you haven't ordered food, you shouldn't be here." If it possible I would give 0 out of 5 stars.

For appetizer: Salade lyonnaise was very basic and mediocre, too salty for my taste with a bit too much bacon. Gratinée à l’oignon soup was quite good, very cheesy taste. Ouef meurette was way too salty to eat by itself. Assiette du canut was a bit sour Main dishes Saucisson Brioché sauce was salty , the bread was nice but overall it doesn’t surprise me much. The portion was a bit much for me and the girls Deserts We chose crème brûlée and it was nice. Can’t go wrong with that I guessed it worth a try for Lyon’s local food. But not good enough for me to try a second time. And it made my stomach funny after a few hours

Not too bad. Super popular as they have 2 different 3 course meal price ranges. It was packed and stays packed pretty much all day. The ham and cheese omelette was delicious. The onion soup and the poached egg in wine sauce were great. The crème brûlée was tasty as well. Of the two steaks we ordered one came over cooked and the other didn’t come with exactly was the menu said.

I read the reviews and I had high expectations, but the food was not good. I went for the beef with dauphinois potatoes, and the knife failed to pierce through the meat. Potatoes had no taste, I tried adding a little salt and pepper, but not much has changed. My partner tried the duck leg with dauphinois potatoes and the duck was not much better than my steak. Very disappointed. Also, there was no nappy changing facility, another minus.

Atmosphere typical of what you’d expect from a bouchon in Lyon. Down to earth, hustle and bustle surrounded by people in waiting or just walking past. Wonderful place to dine, eat and people watch if you’re lucky to have seats outside on a cool night. Menu price for three course os EUR15.90 when we were there. Great value. Although if you don’t order from the menu, you end up being charged single price for main and a dessert which worked out more than the menu itself. So go with the menu even when you prefer a two course meal instead of three! Food is good portion and of course Quenelle is a must and yes it’s authentically Lyonnaise (I think!) ps No menu for kids.

Walked in wanting a coffee at first, but decided to settle for dinner since it was getting dark. Food was good portion and rather tasty, a little salty for me though. Lyonnaise salad was something new for us; my hubby enjoyed it while I’d prefer more greens. We enjoyed the lamb knuckle and duck leg from the mains though. Staff were pleasant and accommodated by speaking English to us😊

Very nice place and delicious food. The strongest point of this restaurant were the staff. Everything was perfect and very good rapport price quality. Hope to be back

We were super content with our experience here. As a group of 4, we all had the "Le Gourmand Lyonnais" deal which is 16,90 Euro per person and includes an entree, a main course and a dessert. The service was fast and we didn't wait much between the courses. As entrees, we tried onion soup and salad with goat cheese which we really enjoyed. For the main courses, we tried the flank steak, sausage with potatoes and pike fish in lobster sauce, all of them were delicious but we believe entrees and desserts were better than the main courses. Desserts, which come in very big portions, were really delicious. We tried tarte tatin, profiterols and chocolate mousse and especially the profiterols were amazing. We also asked for tap water which was for free. All in all, it's a great deal and we highly recommend this place.

We visited this place during peak lunch time and it was so crowded. However I was very excited to try my very first lyonnaise bouchon and this place completely matched my expectations. The three course meal was packed with some really good French onion soup, Fish with lobster sauce(Oh yeah! This was something so unique) and to end it all with some authentic crème brûlée!! All in all it was a great experience at this place with budget friendly lunch options. I’m surely gonna visit this place again when I come to Lyon!!

Really lovely meal, was pleasantly surprised to get a 3 course meal for €16. Food was amazing, especially the French onion soup. The place has a warm and homely feel and was packed with local French people when we went. Our server was so lovely, she made us feel very welcome and spoke English as we didn’t understand French and gave us great recommendations. This is the best place to get the local French food experience! Am definitely coming back here when I’m next in Lyon.

Despite the waiting queue to have a table inside but this place deserve the waiting. For 16 euros I got a starter Goat Cheese Salad , main dish Steak with pepper sauce and gratin, a sweet Tarte au praline. Extremely delicious all of them!

A nice lyonnaise bouchon in the middle of the touristic centre of the city, so it can get quite busy and noisy. Do not expect the best experience of your life but excellent value for money and good food with really quick service. Their three-course menu is a great option to get a taste of the traditional cuisine and it costs less than 20 euros. I especially like their red wine and the dessert.

Good price for a 3 course meal at 16euro/pp. Servers were not English fluent but service was attentive. Tripe sasuage was an interesting dish though not to our liking but onion soup and desserts were good. The other dish of hot sausage was good. Very filling meals. Combo included gratuity already, and restaurant was a bit cold even though indoor.

Very packed and noisy at lunchtime with tables closed to each other but i guess it's a typical Lyonnaise bouchon. Food quantity for the lunch menu was extremely good considering the reasonable price but abit too heavy. (Lots of cheese in the onion gratin, lots of whipped cream for the profiteroles) but overall we were happy and satisfied.

Went there for dinner today. Known as one of these restaurants "bouchon de Lyon" where Lyon traditional fare is served. The food was really good, price low too, so good for us tourists to know we r not being fleeced! I had "oeuf meurette" starter, and "quenelles de brochet" fr mains, and tarte praliné fr dessert 🍨 with strawberry sauce and a scoop of ice cream. Think the menu was only 16 euros for all that! The food was really really good👌. Know many tourists go to well known places only, so here's my advice if u r in Lyon, there's much to see, and many eateries, but this is a gem we found, recommended by the sweet old shop lady who sold traditional sugared sweets from Lyon, shop on the same road😉. According to her best eatery around the St. Jean Road while others r much more fancy, with fancy prices too! Good luck.

Went there for a Sunday lunch and the place was buzzing. Only had to wait a minute (there were two of us) even though the restaurant was full and they found us a table. Service was a bit slow but was made up for by the people watching. Very reasonable set menu, which is quite extensive, the food was good and the wine wasn't too expensive. They do try and push the (overpriced) coffee but other than that it is a great experience right in the middle of le vieux Lyon. Recommended.

👍 Nice experience in this new restaurant. Gentle staff, there is a nice feeling. I recommend the salads which are super tasty and creative. Could not experience the fresh juice as the restaurant seems to have some teething problems but I will come back in a few weeks to try more.
