I really enjoyed my 4 nights here. The hotel is a little dated compared to what the photos seem to show, but it was still very nice and clean. The bathroom amenities were good and complimentary beverages in the fridge were a nice touch too. The room has a small walk-in closet, and I found the tourist information on the TV very helpful although there seemed to be some formatting issues. The location is close to the Old Town and metro stations and just far enough so it’s not loud at night. Morning views of the river are stunning, especially during breakfast I no the top floor. One thing to note is that the hotel is a cube and so some rooms may not have a river view. The concierge are attentive and knowledgeable about nearby attractions. The man whom I presume is the hotel manager is very serious and can appear a bit cold but all the other employees are very warm. Overall, I think the hotel deserves its 5-star title just do be aware.

Toured France for 20 days. Stayed in 10 hotels in that time. This one was by far the best! The staff was attentive without being overbearing. They all have good to great English so communications was not a problem Location made seeing the sights of Lyon easy. Breakfast was also in the top three of the trip. Overall, I would highly recommend this as THE place to stay when in Lyon. Cannot wait to return to explode the area further.

Pretty nice. The room was good but the breakfast was such a wonderful experience! The breakfast is on the top floor of the hotel with very big glass windows allowing people to enjoy the beautiful view of the city. Just as a bonus the staff were wonderful and very helpful! I really do recommend this hotel if you visit Lyon. Completely worth five stars!

The location is simply unbeatable. Situated right on the banks of the Rhône River, it offers breathtaking views of both the river and the city's historic architecture. I found myself frequently gazing out the window, mesmerized by Lyon's beauty. The service was impeccable. The staff's warm welcome made me feel like a valued guest from the outset. They were attentive, courteous, and always ready to assist with any request or question. Dining at the hotel's restaurant was a culinary delight. The lunch was not only delicious but also offered a wide variety of options to suit different tastes. Dining while overlooking the river added an extra layer of charm to the experience. The hotel's central location made it convenient to explore Lyon's attractions, from the Old Town to the vibrant culinary scene. Many of the city's iconic sites were within walking distance, making it an ideal base for exploring.

Let's start with the positive, location and staff were excellent. The bar on the top floor has a great view. However this is definitely not a 5* hotel, extremely dated, worn and tired, except the lobby. I would rate the hotel at a 3* level.

Good location and good staff. The hotel is becoming a bit dated, things don't work quite so well, electrical sockets in the room are few. Hairdryer broken, reported and not fixed. The breakfast needs a revamp, expensive but not such a good experience. Parking very tight but achievable.

This Sofitel is in a major need of an upgrade. The rooms and furniture are tired and hotel management is non existent. Biggest problem was the air conditioning which didn’t work in the Suite and even after complaining the hotel staff only offered a fan. I would have expected moving us to a new room, or fixing the problem but alas nothing was offered or done. Even when checking out no apology or inquiry into the quality of the stay. This property could be so much better but poor hotel management that has failed to properly invest in maintenance has made this hotel a future pass.

The hotel is nice, well located, loved the GF lounge, room is comfortable and clean. On the negative side there were 3 big disappointments: - I paid extra to get a river view and requested in my preference to have a river view. Sadly the selection was misleading and we could not see the river at all due to the trees blocking the river view. - I asked on arrival that the stay deposit be made by cash not by credit card. Usually all hotels are OK with this, Sofitel insisted on credit card only. This is supposedly an above average hotel, money deposits should not be something you are willing to argue about with your clients. When we pay hundreds of dollars for each night, we won't run away with your orange jus bottle... - I had an unfortunate experience with my flight where my bag didn't arrive. The airline company told me they will send it to my address later but didn't specify when. I asked at the reception if my baggage arrives after my checkout time if they can kindly keep it for few hours until my brother comes to pick it up, they told me they can't due to hotel policy. This is very disappointing on top of a lost bag, they would not help you even reclaim your bag and because bag delivery is done by a third party god knows when rejected what the delivering company will do to my bag. The Sofitel attitude was inconsiderate to my circumstances and therefore on my future trips I will choose other hotels for sure.

The best Sofitel I have made , and I made some the past years from Morocco to Poland. In terms of quality of services from the reception , the concierge, the room cleaning to the room service , the all team has reached the highest level of professionalism. Far above hotels brands that are positioning themself as a Palace. So just thank you to the all team . Be sure I will always stop in your place if I have the opportunity to come back in the beautiful city of Lyon

We booked through ACCOR website, requested them for room decoration, with some cake as it was our anniversary but to my surprise the only decoration we got were 4 balloons & 2 small chocolates thats it! Also, the room was available by 4pm..I dont know whats happening with the check in time of the hotels , 4pm! its already my half a day js wasted. Room was average, congested, location is pretty good. Overall, I think there are better hotels available. All the best team. I hope you will give importance to the requirements if somebody is really thinking to celebrate their important occasion with your brand.

The garage smelled really bad, but not as bad as the hallways going to your room. They smelled like a very strong chemical smell trying to cover up a very strong cigarette smell. We literally had to hold our breath to get into our room. But the room, was, remarkable for one thing: sleeping. It was dated and worn, but ok clean. It was perfectly clean, some mold in the shower and dated! However, it was silent. Not quiet but silent and dark. With the blackout shades, it was pitch black. I've rarely slept this good in a hotel.

We are loyal customers of Sofitel in many places around the world. The Sofitel Bellecour of Lyon was, in general terms, a good experience. Beautiful views from the restaurant at 8th floor. Medium service. Wonderful location. The concierge was the best. The housekeeping service was poor, the cleaning ladies didn't understand a word of English. But we enjoy our stay. Thank you.

Great location in the city centre, walking distance from Place Bellecour. Very nice reception area with beautiful floral display. The receptionists are courteous, polite, informative & helpful. The rooms are adequate with tea & coffee amenities. Huge flat screen tv and very large bathroom. A plus is you can open the windows and rely only on air conditioning!

Stayed for a night arrived late and left early hence feedback is just based on room and check in. Latter was great, service was very nice and friendly. We got a room upgrade from a classic room to a superior room which was nice but based on the room we got, the classic room must be tiny. Like some people mentioned before it’s absolutely outdated. Definitely in dire need of a renovation. Also our AC smelled really weird (like the smell of a hover that needs emptying) and versions surfaces in the room were quite dusty. If I’m not mistaken the bed also didn’t have the typical Sofitel mattress topper. The Mini Bar was included (nice) but overall I wasn’t blown away by the hotel especially given it’s rated as a 5*

From the moment we arrived the team at the Sofitel were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed dining at the 3 domes, having a drink at the Light Bar and at Bar Melhor and breakfast each morning with stunning views. Well located need Place Bellecour it’s easy walking to many attractions of Lyon.

The stay in the hotel was great from a personnel experience perspective. The staff were extremely professional and very helpful. The hotel's location was amazing as well. I was in room 401, and the floor had a strange odour to it. The rooms are very old and in need of a redesign. There are no sockets close to the bed (unless one unplugs a lamp or the phone). In today's electronic device focused world such sockets are a must (and, ideally, fast-charge USB ports). The bathroom's fixtures also require updating; the faucet in the sink was loose and always pushed to one side. All-in-all, the experience was fine. The bed, as with all Sofitel properties, was fantastic and always results in a great night's sleep. The location was great and the staff members were incredible. The property is in need of renovation though, to modernise the hotel - this property is old without the quaint charm of old properties.

Stayed 2 nights on a football trip. Room good size with comfortable beds and excellent large bathroom. Free soft drink mini bar. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Didn't explore the hotel but what we saw was well maintained. Good central location by the river.

This hotel should be standards of Sofitel applied all over the world. Excellent hotel, very friendly staff (special thanks to Valentin the butler who took special care of us, I have to highlight that it is the first time a butler take such a good care of us in a Sofitel). Rooms are very nice, fully equipped and very comfortable. The location of the hotel is good, the view on the river side is a real plus. Breakfast is excellent. We had a drink at the hotel's bar on the rooftop, the staff was amazing, very kind and helpful. Drinks, cocktails and cheese/ham plates were amazing. We then had dinner at the brasserie of the hotel on the rooftop as well (called The 8) and the food was super great (beef burger, beef fillet, special mention to the dessert trolley). Keep up the good job, hopefully one day all other in the world Sofitel will use your hotel as a reference of standards.

Very near place Bellecour. Convenient location in downtown Lyon. The hotel is very nice, clean and staff is friendly. We asked to consierge to help make reservations for dinner because my French is non existent. He also gave great recommendations. Will definitely go back

I've only been here a few hours, and my initial response was wow as I entered the lobby. The staff was very pleasant. My primary language is English, and I was greeted in English. I wish I knew more French. (I should have paid more attention in high school in Trinidad 🇹🇹 ) Lobby is well designed and felt very fancy and rich, bags were looked after, and reception was great. The room is small, but I have come to expect the small spaces in Europe. The bathroom, although we'll think of very tight. Had to sit sideways to use it, or knees would hit the tub. If you are a tall person, you would have major issues. The tub is a little high of the ground and getting in could be challenging and getting out even more challenging. Suspect the plumbing is under the tub and why the tub is elevated, slipping getting out could be an issue. The furnishing are upgraded as expected. Very fancy. Faucets are spectacular and very nice. Granite countertop. The colour scheme is very warm and friendly. The view: we have a corner suit, and the view over looking the river and the east side is spectacular. I'll give that a 10 for sure. Room service: My wife tried calling room service, but nobody answered. People are busy sometimes, so I will let that slide. I have no issue with that, but my wife did, lol. Over in the few hours I'm doing fine. BTW, while writing this, my wife complained about the height of the tub. I'm just saying. I will continue my review as I spend more time here. I have been to Paris a few times and am my first time here in Lyon and already think Lyon seems nicer and friendlier. Photo of the view from my room and elevator lobby on my floor. I'm back home now, and after spending 3 days there, I give a solid 8/10. The staff and service are a definite 10. They were great to talk to and very friendly. On my last day, one of the staff had a medical emergency. I hope everything is OK. I highly recommend this hotel and check out the restaurant on the 8th floor.

Great location near bars, restaurants, shopping and the Rhone River. The room AND bathroom were both spacious and clean, and the blackout curtains helped us sleep soundly after a long day of travel. Very nice hotel and friendly staff. The daytime downstairs bartender was also very attentive.

All the complaints about the dated decor may be true but that the hotel lacks in decor, it makes up with outstanding service and hospitality from all the staff members. Great experience from Sofitel, great location, great parking, great spacious room.

I was in the hotel during my business trip to Lyon, it was so nice to stay in such hotel, the reception was so nice and friendly, the room was big and Comfortable with all the required facilities, the hotel location is so nice, only 10 minutes walking from the city center where you find the old area with the Historical places and also the new modern shopping area . Thanks to the hotel Management.

Despite that the extrior and the interior is a bit dated, the hotel management did a good job to keep the services at top level. The bedding, the toiletries, the staff, the breakfast, parking... everything is great. The bar at the top has this red interior of the 70s-80s but it is getting cool again. The view is exceptional, the drinks and fingerfood was really good. The live music was the icing on the cake.

Arrived at the hotel this afternoon and upon check-in we were informed that our room was not ready (at 4.30pm!) and that we could wait at the bar until it was ready, about 10-15mins. There was no apology and no offer of a complimentary drink. My husband went back to the reception 30mins later and was told that room still wasn’t ready. Finally, after waiting for an hour, we went back to reception and the room was ready. We would’ve appreciated if the receptionist would have informed us! There was still no apology. Very disappointing considering we have booked to stay here for 5 nights!

We were disappointed. The room was dirty, I saw at least 3 spiders during my stay. Windows were full of dust that we couldn’t enjoy our „river view“ category. There‘s no children‘s menu in the restaurant. Otherwise we liked the lunch, food was great.

Really recommend this hotel. Perfect location in Lyon, Valet parking (€30/night). Lovely lobby and entrance, meeting 5 star expectations. Very friendly, capable and professional staff too! Location was as good as we could expect. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, with clean and comfortable rooms. Our only constructive criticism would be that the rooms feel a little tired (4 star standard) but it is obvious that Sofitel plan to address this, based on the incredible refurbished lobby. Furthermore, complimentary minibar (water, soft drinks and nuts) more than made-up for this. I will stay here again on our next trip to Lyon.

Our large room looking over the Rhône river was very comfortable, and room service was very attentive. Dinner at 3 Domes was quite nice, bery good value, but would like to see more choices on the 3 course menu. Wonderful view of the city from the top floor. The steak was very good but everybody offers a steak. In Lyon there is much more to offer. Our Sommelier Nicolas was excellent. He explained the Rhône wines and after dinner gave us a taste of the Côte Rôtie and a Châteauneuf-du-Pape which was a great experience. It is details like this which make for a memorable dining experience.
