Amazing place to go and spend some time. The volunteers are all incredible, they really know their stuff and are really friendly and genuinely love their roles. We spent a good 3.5 hours here and still didn't get to see everything (or even visit the Naafi which we are gutted about, looked like good cake and tea! next time!) We spoke to several people while we were out and about in Blackpool for the remainder of our hols and most had never heard of this place. It's a hidden gem but one that is an absolute must! Even if you're not the biggest plane fan (I'm not), it's still incredible to walk around, see the planes up close, hear about how they were used, see the size of the bullets and shells and all the memorabilia). Absolutely well worth the Β£7 entrance fee. 10/10 - will def go again!

Not open again until the season starts, but wanted to post some from our last trip, hidden gem! What a fabulous place! So unknown by holidaymakers but fully recommend, fascinating history for locals and day trippers alike - get booked in advance if you can

An exhilarating experience and ideal to visit come rain or shine! We already have a massive amount of respect for the people that fought for us in the world wars - but this exhibition REALLY brought it home to us! This venue should be on every school trip and every travellers itinerary! It was both informative and moving. Hats off to the volunteers who run the show. *Returned at 6pm for the spitfire simulator !!! A HIDDEN GEM! What an experience an ideal present for that hard to buy for relation. A full size working (but grounded) spitfire with functioning controls.... you fly over the lake district. The gentleman who runs this is fantastic. I even got a call up letter! I will be back!

Such a wonderful experience to share a few hours with a team of volunteers who are quite obviously passionate about their museum and it's history. They tell real life stories of our heroic pilots along with the Polish squadrons who were based at the same operational base flying night time fighter sorties out of Blackpool. Fascinating and interesting made all the more marvellous by the enthusiastic team of people here.

A hidden gem! Couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming today, accommodating my father and his wheel chair by making sure we had access round the front of the hangar. The volunteers were very happy to talk, and as knowledgable as they were passionate. Some nice period displays to give you a richer sense of WW2 air warfare. We’ll worth a detour.

Enlightening and emotional visit to Hanger 42 yesterday. I booked it as a trip for my husband who likes anything to do with aircraft. This is absolutely packed with all sorts of interesting memories and local stories of bravery. We initially started to listed to the audio tour which is very informative but we realised we were missing out on talking to the volunteers that have so many interesting facts and knowledge. I would really recommend Hanger 42. We probably spent 3 hours here in total. Thank you to all the people we spoke to. It was a very special visit for me given the current situation.

Great visit, replicas of the Spitfire and the Hurricane plane and other vehicles. Lots of interesting wallboards telling stories of the planes and also of the wars and the impact on Blackpool and the surrounding areas. One staff member telling lots offascinating stories of the aerial battle fought in the war and of how pilots were really under trained for their missions in WW2. I thoroughly recommend a visit. Go to the NAAFI for a cuppa, the ladies there are lovely any full of knowledge πŸ™‚

An excellent privately run museum. Showcasing the history of the RAF base that was situated here during WW2. With replica fighters as well as working RAF vehicles from the time. Some staff dressed in uniforms of the time. All staff knowledgeable, friendly & approachable. Simulator also in use.

I had a very enjoyable experience yesterday (January 2023) I really didn't know what to expect, as it was a birthday present from my partner, and I was worried that I had not had a scrap of experience. I didn't need to worry. Andy, who is very passionate about the experience, went through the flight plan and the controls and put me at ease by taking over the controls if necessary. The flight was an hour long, followed by a brew biscuit and a debrief. I was also shown the combat mission and asked if I wanted to have a go. Age (I'm oldish πŸ™‚) and experience doesn't matter. Allow 2 to 2hr hours, and dress warmly if going in the winter months. It was excellent value for money, and I highly recommend this experience to fulfil a lifetime dream or just to experience flying. it does both. I have also been to the museum before, which is also a worthwhile visit. I could have spent 4 or 5 hours here listening to all the knowledgeable staff of volunteers. This reopens in April

Very interesting exhibition, mainly about Squires Gate Aerodrome during WW2. Excellent photographic displays with clear captions and also original and replica exhibits. Very knowledgeable volunteer staff eager to make sure you understand the presentations. Small souvenir shop with representative second hand bookstall available at very reasonable prices. Well worth the entrance fee.

What an absolutely experience, bought as a gift for my husband who loved it. Andrew Harper made the evening thoroughly enjoyable with his enthusiasm and knowledge, an extremely pleasurable few hours. I cannot recommend this simulation highley enough, even for someone like me who isn't really into vintage planes. We both came away grinning Cheshire cats and buzzing by the sheer enjoyment of the trip. Thank you Andrew for really making this such a wonderful event.

Lovely museum in some huts , a bit hidden, behind a aircraft hangar but good sign posted. Unfortunately I readπŸ‘€ the date to visite the museum as in just once a month on Saturday not to good.πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ There I was, coming all the way from Holland travelling over 850 milesπŸ›£ and bringing an 80 years young friend from Knutsford with me. Knocked on the door and a old lady kindly greeting us and said that the museum was closed and not accessible to day. As I saw a few people moving around behind the windows I remarked that to the lady. Also explained the reason why I came over to visit the museum. But the lady didn't let us in πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈand refused several times as in telling me I didn't read the website properly.πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ So we went to Blackpool very disappointed but never mind. So for the enthousiast WWII visitor readπŸ‘€ the website before you come. For me this was once in a life time vistit to be able as an invalide retired coming up this way. So going back I will visit the Spitfire museum near Folkestone Kent.

Great day out with plenty of exhibits to see, and it gives a real sense of what it must of been like to be stationed on a RAF base during the WW2 quite atmospheric. The staff are friendly, attentive and full of knowledge, each time I visit they have something new, either another exhibit or photograhs showing the history about the aircraft/vehicles on display . Wifi available with supporting audio description helps bring the visit alive even more book a ticket and enjoy.

Fantastic place for anyone interested in WW2 and the RAF. Located in a hanger on B-pool airport, run by volunteers who all have passion and knowledge of Spitfires, Hurricane's and all things of that period. You can sit in a Spitfire and have a picture taken for Β£5 and purchase smack and drinks in the cafe plus buy souvenirs in the reception.
