The 5 stars is for the town as a whole, really loved it. It was by coincidence that we saw it from the road and decided to visit. Really worth it. Will definitely go back.

Castillo de Comares it selves deserve 5 stars, no doubt. It is a lovely little fortress-whire-city with its own charm. Pay attention to the details, down to even the pavement. Up keep is also above other white cities and I have been there three times and never experienced a crowd. This might be because of the twisted and slow road to get there that also made me remove the fifth star. The 30'some kilometers from Malaga takes an hour to drive and back seat passengers should not be motion sickness prone (for the driver it is fun though 😀)

Beautiful little white mountain village. A couole od small bars and a restaurant in the main square.. great to sit and peoplewatch. Very steep streets so not reccomended for hard of walking or elderly.. worth the climb though for views.

Comares Castle are the remains of the ancient fortress of probable Arab origin in the Axarquía region. It is located in the highest part of the village next to the municipal cemetery and with fantastic views of the Vélez river valley, trails of the "Raisin Route", and the Mediterranean Coast. Few traces remain of the original fortress but parts of the great wall that surrounded the castle of have been reconstructed.
