A quiet little island. Beautiful and serene with the old world rustic charm still existing in this place. A great place to explore for both nature lovers as well as those interested in history. The boat tour on back waters to see mangrove vegetation, crabs and birds ( with bird man Uday of Charao) is a must. A little treck on a small hillock with cashew trees on bothe sides of the path will have you reach the lost seminary of Saint Gerome. A visit to the old church and Devaki Krishna(there are only 2 temples in India that are devoted to Krishna- son and Devaki- mother, mostly you have Radha Krishna temples) temple add to the overall experience. I was very surprised to know about how Charao got it's name from Churamani. If you go there, suggest that you also make this discovery of Goa's ancient prevalent Hindu culture before the invasion of Portuguese 🙂

A spacious and natural environment with Salim Ali bird sanctuary. The season however is from November to February for watching the migratory birds, otherwise it's just a nature's walk. The island is open and with limited tourist spots. Compared to Divar island, this will be slightly less attractive. Good for drives and boating. Best tourist spots as per my preference:- 1. Christ the king(vantage point) 2. Chapel of Saint Jerome 3. Salim Ali 4. Temples and churches

⛔⛔....BORING....⛔⛔ Under no circumstances can this be described as an "island" - it's a "peninsular"....😟😟 Surrounded on two sides by the Mapusa (west) and Mandovi (east) rivers. It is fully connected to the mainland along its Northern boundary...🌍 There is access, by Ferry, from Ribander & Pomburpa - but strangely not one to connect with the adjacent Divar Island......🤔🤔 It's worth spending a couple of hours on a day of exploring this part of GOA - why not to say you done it - but it really is BORING...!!!! There are some beautiful Portuguese villas owned by the "upwardly mobile" working in Panjim.... 😇 .....and a dearth of Restaurants/Bars but I did find a cracking place that was worth the whole trip.... ....ROCK-SHELL (see separate review)....✔💕✔ ...then move on and quickly.

Beautiful Island . It’s beauty lies in it’s simple nature and no busy noisy lifestyle. Evenings are good for refreshing walks on the pattos .

Winters are best over here, for birding and boat rides. The place is famous for it's mangroves. Cool and calm place to relax. Keep this place clean ...

Wonderful place reacheble by ferry. The ferry ride is also the cheapest on this planet. The island has a wonderful green cover & traditional houses. I think outsiders cant purchase property here to preserve the heritage value.
