We booked 2 rooms in this hotel for us and our friends. In both rooms towels were missing so we had to ask them at reception. The receptionist was not very friendly. The worst part is the condition of the room - it was incredibly dirty, dust was everywhere. We also found used coffee capsule in coffee machine. The only advantage of this hotel is its location.

By far the worst experience in a hotel ever and the first review I write in my life. I booked this hotel for 16 nights, but moved out after 7, when a man tried to enter my room with a key card (general key?) at 2:45am, assuming that I was sleeping. The guy knocked at my door rather quietly about 5 times with a 30 seconds interval without saying anything. I didn't answer the knocking because I assumed, if there is any mix up of rooms going on, the person would call anything like 'hello' or 'housekeeping'. Then I heard the sound of the lock opening with a key card. In that moment I shouted out which prevented the person from entering my room. A male voice told me something like 'you called the reception'... which I didn't. I assume that housekeeping would never enter a room without consent. The manager in charge didn't react surprised or apologetic when I told him the next morning. Getting back my prepaid and unused 9 other nights was not really smooth but working out at the end. The manager in charge reacted quite offended. I consider this place as very unsafe. Overall, the cleaning was very poor: No towels at arrival Cleaning was done sometimes not at all (one time I left with the cleaning sign on the door and it was turned to the do not disturb side when I returned), sometimes only the bed was done but no new towels, no new toilet paper, no coffee. When I complained at reception I was told they’ll add it on a list of other guests complains. One day it was cleaned but the door had been left open with a small gap which I discovered when I returned. Some of the staff members are very friendly but rather clueless and unable to respond to requests properly. Not a place to recommend!

Bastion Hotel Maastricht. Probably the worst hotel compared to price I ever stayed at. 390 Euro for one night, the night of a big christmas concert. Just because they can! Today the same room is 69 Euro. Dirty room, bathroom with mould in the ceiling and strong smell of it, dirt in all corners in the intire hotel.... Long que to check in and only one person in reception, even longer que to checkout an still only one person in reception. Checkout necessary even if all payment was already done at check in. How effective is that?! Yes, I knew the price when I booked, but I also expected something more than this. Very disappointed. Will never return. Robert Pihl

I mean how would you rate a hotel room without towels, bottle of water, bathroom mat, empty bar and a broken fridge?

Room big enough, bathroom absolutely fine, had super comfortable big bed in double room, room a bit noisy, but service super friendly and helpful. Very good for a short trip to Maastricht.

My stay at this hotel was fantastic. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the hotel was conveniently located in the center. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Highly recommended!

We did stay for one night, the room was not ok. The bed was really comfortable, but there was some hair on the sheets. The fridge made really loud noises, which was annoing. The furniture was very used and needs a refresh. The location of the hotel is very near to the city center, which was really nice. The staff was really nice and polite as well.

We chose it for the location but it's in a bad condition. At booking liked as we could get a little bed for our 3year old kid without extra charges but when we arrived there was just a travel kid in which she almost didn't fit and sleep poorly. We found the woman there very nice. The biggest disappointment comes now after they've charged us the rooms two times. They argue that during the check-in we registered with a different name than through booking. This is ridiculous considering we're four adults and of course if they require our id passes we don't call all the same. So fix it as soon as possible, this is your problem!

The location is excellent, only a 10-minute walk from the central station and a short stroll from the main shopping areas. The room is spacious and tidy. When my room's door battery died, the staff quickly replaced it with a new one, providing friendly service. I highly recommend this place!

Very expensive for a low cost style hotel ! 235€ per night (only 1 fortunately) which is really overpriced for this level.
We checked in a room that was not made, the other one had no climatisation and impossible to open a window. The TV has only national cable channels in dutch, which is totally logic for an hotel full of tourists from all around the world… everyone speaks dutch, we all know that. It would not cost much to the hotel to provide satellite TV or Web TV. At that price you expect a minimum.. The breakfast costs 17€… you have a basic cheap buffet with overcooked eggs and industrial products. The best moment is when the waitress comes between the tables with a garbage trolley to clean up the table next to you… awful. NEVER AGAIN !

The fact you can not open the window and there is no ventilator in the bathroom is very claustrofobic....result...more use of airco system ...more expensive !!!

Overall we had a good experience. More coffee pods would be a good idea, at least one for each day.

Great location and the room itself was fine, however the WiFi never worked which made it impossible to do any work here. The staff seemed to be familiar with this issue and could only apologize.

Hotel overall is ok however the ciggarete smell is very strong. The overall cleaniness could be better and the hotel seems to be a bit run down. Morning breakfast is a buffet style and the selection is ok. Hotel location is pretty good, about 5 min walk to reach pubs, and eateries.

Clean basic rooms. Should invest in new pillows as the were just full of broken balls of filing. Did request new ones but they weren't much better. Staff were amazing, very polite and friendly. Perfect location for the square.

I booked from the hotel's website and the booking went smoothly. Check-in also went smoothly. With helpful staff, I would say the service was great. The location was great, there are nice restaurants and cafes nearby (less than 5 minutes walk). A bus stop is also very close. Most importantly, it is very close to the city center as well as many city attractions. Drawback is the size of the room. I booked a room for a family. The photo shows quite big room. In reality it is quite small. If the hotel was a 3-stars, I can understand it. But this is a 4-stars. This leads me to give 3 stars to rate my stay.

Hotel is dirty. Internet is poor. Staff are accommodating. Good location. Bed comforter was way too short. No coffee packages in room.

Great experience. Close to centre and venue. We walked everywhere. The king sized bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I can remember. It was very quiet and I slept so well. The lobby had a nice ambience. Staff were friendly. hotel was very clean.

Disorganised at Breakfast. Ordered fried egg which they fry to order and bring to the table. 15 minutes later a waiter spots then numbered cup indicating waiting for an order. He says he'll sort it. 10 minutes later he walks past again. He was amazed we still hadn't had the eggs. He came back 5 minutes later with the eggs. Coffee cups were all gone. Someone arrives with clean cups on a trolley. He takes the top row of 3 one by one and places them on the tray. Then the middle row then the bottom row. Why not simply put them on the trolley on a tray and replace the empty tray with the full one? Coffee machine broken as well. Good Hotel which needs better working practices.

Location is perfect! Your close enough to the center for a quick walk but just far enough to stay out of the crowd. Rooms where okay, especially for those who are not really spending much more time in the room then just sleeping and fleshing up. Parking options where also great.

Very pricy in 'Andre Rieu ' season. Great location and friendly staff but breakfast buffet was very ordinary, one lift was out of order, our room power failed and @£600 for two nights it was not good value

Better take rooms looking inside or backwards. Street is rather noisy. Pay attention to price matrix which does vary a lot on concerts of André Rieu. Staff is very friendly, but in the end is this the key point?

It's 4 stars hotel in the center of Maastricht. Easy to walk to stores area. The room is nice, even they borrowed us a baby box for our baby. Nearby busstop, Spar supermarket, Albert Heijn, restaurants, cafes. Room prices are reasonable. They have lift, big restaurant, even billiard table.

For a 4 star hotel i booked a room for 2+2 kids but no kids beds were provided, just to 2 single beds. Bathroom was not superclean. Parking was 15eu but just for the night for the next day we needed to move the car to another outdoor parking.

This hotel is claimed to be a 4 star hotels but definitely it does not worth even one star. The hotel is old and uncomfortable. The breakfast is very poor and does not worth the €15 you will be charged for. Just grab anything from nearest and don't fall in this breakfast trap! Bottom line....highlly not recommended

Very dirty, both room and common areas. Just one of the two lifts working and the second day both were out of service. Missing bulbs in the room. The two stars are because the staff is friendly and the location is good.

I give this place a 2.5 Good location and the staff was helpful. No body wash, only shampoo. The bathroom smelled like sewage and the toilet was stained. There was no fitted sheet on the bed (the elastic one that goes on first) The key cards didn’t work so a staff member needed to escort you to your room. But… friendly staff. The cot we received for our 18 month old was also broken. Good thing we were only there for one night.
