This is not a typical hostel... There is no kitchen, no laundry service and everything is overpriced. I think, if anything, it should be renamed "Stayokay Hotel". 9€ for breakfast?! Those are hotel prices! You even have to pay 50 cents to play table football! I was here in the peak of summer for 10 nights where it was very hot outside. Be prepared for a sweaty night without air-conditioning and not even being able to fully open the windows. They even kick you out if you eat food in the common room - you have to eat outside! I know this review is harsh but having been in many hostels before this one is by far one of the worst ones...

Infrastructure is good and enough. Staff at reception is friendly and the location is good. But do not dare to eat in the restaurant or someone may yell at you. That was very unprofessional. Also i feel to less a holiday atmosphere. Maybe the staff has to much work

The location is perfect for walking through Maastricht as a tourist. All facilities are as advertised and I have no complaints whatsoever. It's still a hostel, but this is about as good as the experience can get.

Brilliant all round. So impressed. Will be back. Great for MECC, great bar area. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Ten minutes from centre. Twenty minutes from main train station. All staff very friendly. Breakfast consists of fresh rolls, boiled eggs, cold meats, fresh fruit, cereal tea, coffee, juice. Sadly no pastries though (just me, I love pastry in the morning). Overall.....stay there it's amazing all round

I am not rating the hotel rooms but the conference facilities on the ground floor. This is a hotel mainly for young people, and the conference facilities are equally affordable. Might not be the standard you would expect for corporate events. But great for researchers, start ups or anyone else who cannot spend a lot of money on group activities.

The Maastricht Stayokay Hostel is good for staying one night or two. It's quite well located (15 minutes walk to the city center). The staff is welcoming. Rooms are clean, I was in a room of 4 beds (2 bunk beds), with a separate toilet and shower in the room. Perfect for traveling solo. The breakfast wasn't that good though (nothing out of the ordinary really). A downside is no personnal food or drink allowed in the hostel.

Rooms clean, toilets clean. No mould, no cold. It was actually quite warm during the night. Got the bedding and linens :) Location is great. People at the reception were very nice and kind. I only stayed one night solo, but everything was okay.

Really great location for Maastricht and very helpful staff. The room was as expected and met basic needs. Was dark and comfortable for sleeping. No USB ports. More variety at breakfast to include pastries would have been nice for us. Nice lounge area

Location is perfect and very close by the city center. Breakfast and room was good. Only thing missing maybe is a water boiler in the room. That’s it.

basically everything was perfect it was clean, a relaxed atmosphere, you could check in very late and get into the hostel in the middle of the night and the personal was nice, but it also was quite price, on the other hand it was the cheapest I could find in maastricht

A lovely hostel and a really nice location with a bar overlooking the river. Friendly staff as well. My only complaint is that it's expensive for a hostel.

  • 5/5 Roman T. 7 months ago on Google
The place was very modern, located near the city centre in a walkable distance from the main station.

I would say that's the worst experience of staying in hotel/hostel/airbnb in my life. The lady in the front desk shouted at me to pay for the toliet when I was in hurry to the toliet. Only when I proved that I am the guest, she let me go. Very impolite and non-humanitarian. Don't mentioned the room condition and other no eating allowed in the hostel policy. So disappointed, won't come again...

Great place to stay. Near the centre, on the water, next to parking. Friendly people. Very good price - comfort.

The room was according to expectations, the public spaces were very nice: big terras (it was 15+ degrees so we even enjoyed the Maas view in December!), nice bar/restaurant and TV area for the kids. Besides that the location is excellent for visiting the city centre.

Enjoyed a one night stay here. Friendly staff at check in and the rooms were clean and well priced. 10 minute walk to the city makes for a great location.

Clean and well located, very close to the city centre and with a very nice terraced bar that looks on the river. The one night stay was pleasant.

Friendly and helpful staff, good location, modern and clean, nice views on the river, games for kids (both electronic and traditional). Breakfast and dinner could be improved, did not try lunch. Public transport nearby, but a bit tricky to find. Good value for money.

I really don’t understand why my partner university would recommend me a hostel where you can’t arrive at midnight, especially for foreigners. I don’t recommend this hostel for exchange students and foreigners who have an inflexible arrival date.

Clean, spacious rooms. The stuff was very polite and helpful. I book with a promotion and got a free breakfast. WiFi is not working everywhere the best. There is a lot of space to sit and study or work. The new interior is great, very modern, a good change.

Stayokay Maastricht delivered above expectations! It is a great venue at the river actually

Wise selection of amenities, printing is available on request. Buffet is decent but not on par with a normal hotel breakfast

Had a great time in stayokay Maastricht, lovely staff, willing to help you find awesome places to hang out at or to take a walk.

Food was amazing, international kitchen with very friendly and helpful staff. But keep in mind that this is a Hostel, not a Hotel which means that you need to make your own bed, there is no housekeeping except for vacuuming each day, but the rooms are cleaned very thoroughly between guests.

Food was okayish. Sweet and warm staff. Nice rooms

Staff are super friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere is also nice and luxurious. Our 2 person “comfort” room wasn’t very cosy & was noisy because it was only a few meters from a busy road. Take note that towels and such are not included, that would have been nice for a comfort room.

  • 5/5 caspar s. 2 years ago on Google
Affordable, no extra stuff included but if you just want a place to sleep so you can explore the city it's great, friendly staff. Ask for a room with a view of the water, the river is nice.

Staying at this hotel was a very enjoyable experience! While it isn't very luxurious, it was effecient at providing all the necessities needed for a stay. 5 stars from me!

We were a group of 14 senior ladies visiting for a concert. Everything was perfect for our stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious and spotless clean. The location of the hotel is fab.right on the river within 10 minute walk of Maastricht centre. Would definitely stay again. ***** just be aware there is no lift.

Conveniently located a short walk from both the train station and the city centre. I was there in the winter and it got quite cold, but the place was always clean and staff was welcoming. You can rent bikes but it is quite pricy. Food is hit or miss. In general, I recommend eating elsewhere if you have a chance.

I have stayed there once. Ordered food for the room, didn't know it was allowed. I was then told to go outside in the cold and eat it there since I didn't order from the restaurant in the hotel. I think they have a super tight budget. So other than that, well whatever.

Food was fine, but the attiitude of some waiters was like they were dead inside. I hope they are okay. Others felt like they were a bit lost and didn't know exactly what to do.

Room needs better ventilation , air conditioning is not enough it needs fresh air ,to avoid permanent odors

Stayed here many times. Rooms are clean, staff are excellent and a short walk to the centre.

Pros: cute, clean rooms, air conditioning because it was hot outside (maybe a bit too much AC on my side of the building), pretty good location both with regards to the city centre and parking, lovely river view, generally friendly staff. Cons: some misunderstanding regarding dinner (there is a voucher system and the guy serving dinner was new, if dinner is actually only what I got, it’s not worth the price), there were kids staying with parents, I think in private rooms, some people may not like that. They did run a bit in the corridor and were loudish, the doors towards the corridor aren’t well insulated against noise. It wasn’t that much of a “youth hostel”, more like an “everybody hostel” plus bar. I didn’t see a kitchen like is typical in hostels. All in all, different from other hostels I’ve tried around Europe, but I would stay again, even though it’s a tad pricey for not having a kitchen and for the small common areas (bar excluded), I’d skip getting dinner there. If you’re looking for a backpacker’s youth hostel focused on community, though, it’s probably not the right place for you.
