Due to illness we could not join the guided tour booked. We went there before the tour started. We didn't get our money back. Instead we got vouchers, valid for 1 year. But Maastricht Underground didn't offer guided tours over the last 6-9 months. Now the vouchers are ending. However, Maastricht Underground is simply not willing to extend the voucher dates, stating their conditions. They give you vouchers, but don't give you the possibility to use the vouchers. Corona or not, this is not reasonable and not fair and therefore this rating. Be aware of these practices before you book with them. Kind regards, four unsatisfied customers.

Be there on time! We had very knowledgeable and funny Ernest as our tour guide. He covered interesting historical, archaeological, geological bits about the "cave" (according to Ernest, caves are formed naturally, and this massive underground thingy is more of a quarry). Most of the paintings were black & white and I found a Mickey Mouse somewhere along our way. Highly recommend this unique experience to someone who wants to know some niche/oblique bits about Maastricht. Remember to bring extra layers in the summer bc it is only 11℃ down there. Also child friendly.

A must have experience I would say if you are in Maastricht. I also haven’t any plan for it, but suddenly I find this guided tour into the caves which I found very fascinating. Luckily I got the reservation for a English language guided tour( takes place approximately once in every hour). Go to the meeting point want wait for your turn(they only allows in particularly your time slot, not before that). Finally it was great experience. It took almost 1 hr for the complete tour, but it really worth. So many informations about ancient history, infrastructure, human life everything. Guide was very polite and informative. He answered every question of everyone. Highly recommended. But if you have claustrophobia, please avoid it.

We came to Maastricht just for this tour. Our English guide Ernest was phenomenal. He clearly loves his work and took great care in showing us a collection of interesting focal points that I would never have expected to see. His passion for the subject matter and all the little details makes all the difference between a good tour and a great one.

Very nice experience. Our tour guide Eernest was very friendly. One of the main reasons we enjoyed the tour because of all the cool and funny stories explained by him. Much recommended. Try to carry warm clothing because it is pretty cold inside.

Loved these tours. The underground tunnels tour with George was fascinating, George was very knowledgeable and entertaining, clearly very passionated about his beautiful city and it's history. We also did a fort tour with Ton he was also brilliant and interesting, able to answer all of our questions, he kept a great pace through the tour too, not too much standing around, loved it, would definitely go back and would highly recommend.

Awesome cave! I’d recommend to take the last tour of the day, it is very likely that the guide will take you to the vault. The vault is where many paintings were hidden during WWII from the nazis. The whole experience last about 1h, along the way you will see many paintings made by artists with charcoal. Really incredible.

Outstanding tour. The English speaking guide was well informed, casual, and made the tour interesting for all.

The tour was great! Our tour guide, Thom, was amazing! Great insight, good story telling, and at just over an hour it was a great length to bring the kids (9yr olds). Would definitely recommend.

My wife and I did one of the tours of the tunnels. The price was a bit steep for a 1 hour tour, but I think one could say it was worth it. Our guide peppered his tour with anecdotes and dry humour, which is what clinched it for us. He had us smiling and giggling all throughout. I would not do other tours of these tunnels (different set), but you could definitely do it once.

Pros: connected to the fort trip, excellent guide providing lots of information, quite long walk, a very new experience for our family, many rooms, nice drawings, wc available before departure, Cons: -

Beautiful place to have a walk and lot of wall paintings with charcoal. But the guide was like in a hurry so it went a little to fast for a place who has over 200 km of caves

It was a-maxing and mind blowing! We went in there with low expectations and discovered this very cool historical piece. Will def go again to explore other parts of this tunnel! Also, we had an amazing tour guide; her passion for the tunnels is infectious haha… well done!

A must visit place when you are in Maastricht! Exploring the caves under Maastricht was an eye opening experience. It was my first time to go into caves and I am glad that this was my first. Looking at the map of the caves in the beginning of the tour immediately made me realized how much of history is stored in this caves. Amazing preservation of the caves. When you go there there will a ticketing place where you can buy your ticket for the tour into the caves. The tours are in several different languages, I remember there were German, English, and other languages. After buying a ticket you will just have to wait for your scheduled tour and gather in the meeting point. Then the tour starts and the tour guide brings you to one of the entrances of the caves and start your tour. You will definitely have a great time while listening to the history of these caves. The experience is just indescribably amazing.

really impressive although or maybe also because everything down here is manmade. limestone is the real deal or at least it was back in the days. this quarry isn't used anymore for more than 150 years, but since then tours are held down here. very interesting wall paintings preserve the past.

Awesome place! I liked their tours, they are very interesting! You can buy a ticket on their website, it’s only 10 euro but it definitely worth!

Very educative, the tour in the cave was fabulous, & the tour guide was super nice. Loved the experience & how he narrated the history of it. Do not forget to carry your jacket when visiting, nomatter what time of day or year, its always 11 degrees celcius in the cave.

Johanna was our tour guide and she was awesome! This tour was fantastic and so interesting! It was much more than I ever expected and we enjoyed it thoroughly. It was busier than we expected so we bought tickets for later in the afternoon and waited by enjoying a walk around the area and having lunch at the restaurant that's on site. It was a great afternoon experience.

A must thing to do in Maastricht. The fort and cave tour can be booked together online or at the sight (depends on the availability). These are man-made/natural caves for the limestone. There are few entrances of the caves but can only be visited with a tour and guide. The caves are about 2.5x1km area and about 200km but only a very small portion can be visited. You can visit them from this entrance or there is one more entrance to south. The caves are spread underground all over the area to the cement factory. The tour is about 1hr and it is advised to take warm clothes because it gets real cold inside about 10degC in summer too. Plenty of car parking is available and also Arriva bike parking.

Must visit place.. Timelapse to centuries back.. very interesting to walk through the place where the block breakers, farmers, the WW pilots, Jewish ppl walked.. impressive to see the iron racks still intact which preserved the Night watch painting during world war.. there are short and long tour(both Dutch and English). Getting into slot of your preferred language could cause some waiting time which could be utilized in visiting the fort..

Great little tour. Small groups of 10-15 in each tour. Very short and full of history. Tour guide was informative and provided a lot of comic relief. Accommodated all the needs of the group. The unground limestone tunnels are definitely worth the small fee for entry. The fort on top has beautiful views and free mini exhibit.

Very interesting and unusual experience. The guide Marli was really patient with everyone and made sure everyone understood what she would say. I believe while visiting Maastricht this is a must do thing, because you as well get to take a deeper look at Maastricht’s history. I really enjoyed it:)

It was a very interesting experience! The tour was very nice, not too long and not too short. Our guide, Ed, was super helpful, fun and answered all our questions. I'll definitely recommend it.

Tom was our tour guide for this tour. A younger tour guide who injected a bit of playful humour into the tour which we appreciated. Also that may be just the ticket for you if you've got some in your party who need some loosening up about going into the dark depths of the underground. Tom was knowledgeable and gave us a sense that he really enjoys his job. The experience of the underground was amazing and one of our highlights of visiting Maastricht! The scale of the underground labyrinth is mind blowing.
