The emergency room was empty when I came in coughing blood and having increasing difficulty breathing. It took them 49 minutes to see me; there wasn't even anyone at the emergency reception window for the first 9 minutes after I came in, calling for help. And when she finally did show up, she acted annoyed as if my medical emergency was somehow an inconvenience to her. Even after I was put on a bed, I was left unattended and with no machine observation. I'd already gone hypoxemic before it occurred to anyone to monitor my O2. If I hadn't managed to get my own breathing somewhat under control, I could easily have passed out and drown in my own vomit and no one would've even noticed. I've never seen an emergency room with so little sense of urgency, and it's disgraceful. I have a hard enough time convincing myself to see a doctor even when I really do need help; I am never coming back here again for anything less than being inches from death, and maybe not even then.

Get a second opinion outside the VA. If you're a real woman go somewhere else. Horrible inhumane treatment If I could give minus points I would I just left the ER where I overheard the doctor and nurses say "I hope she walks out" then laughed at me. No help horrible treatment horrible care

Horrible experience each and every time I come here to take care of my dad important business. Can believe the services they give everyone is very rude and unprofessional something needs to be done about this ASAP I hope the CEO of this VA Hospital see this review and take action. Veterans do not deserve this type of service

Just try to call in to the Cleveland VA. Excessively long hold times only to be transferred to different people and get hung up on. And they call my phone with automated messages to call them back. They ship the incorrect medications and sometimes just don’t fill prescriptions at all. They misdiagnosed my foot problems, missed a c diff diagnosis and they are often less than truthful. The VA has caused me more problems than I had before I sought help from them. Extremely aggravating!

Need even a basic appointment? You need to call off work, cease all your plans you have for the day because need to dedicate the entire day to the VA just to schedule something. They redirect calls to either dead lines or answering machines with no call backs.Don’t bother calling to schedule anything. You have drive there and make any scheduling you need there due to the inadequate and incompetence of the front desk help . Their lunch breaks seem to start at 10am and don’t come back until around 2pm. So that leaves you with just a few hours for any sort of assistance if any.Thank you for your service

My experience thus far, hasn't been too bad but certainly not perfect. Contact with medical staff across a few departments has been a positive one, but contact with some of the other staff (assistants, etc.) has been less than desirable. The attitude that comes from some employees (including a few at the information desk) will make you wonder why they even have jobs working with the public. As far as actually getting the time of day (in the medical sense), my experience has been a better than what I was receiving on the 'civilian' side. At least these people answer the phone and are willing to take on new patients (*unlike the multiple Dr. offices around me that are listed with my insurance company). Since I've been going here, I've had several things done at different levels of 'severity' and my only real complaint is in regards to scheduling surgery. It's 2023; we should be able to start the ball rolling online instead of trying to play phone tag with schedulers. Personally, it just seems like that would make things a little less of a hassle. I'm also not thrilled with the 2 hour, round trip drive, but it is what it is.

Busy, a little hard to navigate. People were super helpful. There is a lovely little patch of grass to relieve your service dogs. Place is really nice and clean.

My husband whom is in his last sage of his illness had a procedure done. Was transported home… I’m his POA never received proper discharge from the hospital. He doesn’t talk. Dr. and I talked about I coming in the next morning to discuss his care once arriving home. It never happened!!! I was on my way up to visiting hours and got a call that my husband was home. A hour away and I was never notified of such! It was a EMOTIONAL WRECK… for him and I. So when did come home he was laying in urine … shaking with tears streaming done his face. They drop him off w/ just paper. The person who let him in the house had no knowledge of taking care of him. HEARTBROKEN 🥲🥲🥲

I visited the hospital yesterday for an appointment. The lady who ran my vitals rolled her eyes when she began speaking initially. Secondly, the receptionist at women's health. Handed me paperwork to fill out. I politely handed it back after filled out. She left it sitting there. Then 5-7 minutes later. She jumped up from her desk and left. If I did something wrong she should have communicated with me. Just sad

In person they are great. Absolutely terrible over the phone. Had a message left from Monique with the EKG department to call them back to get my heart monitor put on here at home. She gave me the wrong extension, so here I am over 2 hours later after being on hold multiple times and transferred to different places with NOBODY answering their phones and now they are closing. Called over 30x between the extension she gave me, the transfers and different departments and never got this accomplished. I hope someone reads these. She needs dealt with. Oh and in her message she left, she repeated the wrong extension 3x. Horrible

Exceptional care and kindness from everyone at this hospital. From someone giving us directions to the procedure location. Doctor I have been seeing for years or just the Nurse treating you like a human.

I’m unable to take over the counter pain meds and prescribed pain killers due to kidney and liver disease. I have multiple health issues…18 surgeries since 2008 largely due to the burn pits in Iraq 03-04 and Camp Geiger Water Contamination. I rely on my chiropractor care and Accupuncture for pain relief quite heavily and it’s been a nightmare getting adequate renewals of my treatment. I refused to be treated by a particular chiropractor due to unethical charges of my son and bare minimum treatment at the Upper Sandusky location. So they refused to renew my Accupuncture to the lady I was seeing the last two years as punishment. Here’s the review for the clinic I refused treatment from: Dr Betty Lok Was a patient here a couple years ago. Paid out of pocket till I was sent by the VA to Dr Black. Transferred to their second clinic in Bucyrus. Had wonderful treatment and no issues getting my VA renewed and my autistic son treated (that I paid out of pocket for). The reason why I transferred my son to Dr Black was because my son was man handled for an adjustment on his neck from jumping off the couch and landing on his head. I don’t know why the harsh treatment to my son…(Dr Lok appeared to be in pain and under large amounts of stress) but it was a nightmare for 2 years letting another doctor touch my child. It was a huge factor on requesting going to Dr Black. Dr Black gave wonderful care. It was obvious there were management and money issues at the main office in Upper. That’s when the overcharging for services started. Before Dr Black left the practice we were forced to pay for another physical for my son despite already having one 4 months prior to that in Bucyrus. “New patient fees” really?????? On top of that $370 more of services when I was supposed to spend $42 for an adjustment with Dr Black before he left the practice. My son’s appointment was with Dr Black and no one else but was being forced to do another physical basically against my consent. Now because I refused chiropractic treatment from the VA at this office and requested to be sent to another doctor…the VA in Mansfield refused to renew my acupuncture through another provider that I was seeing the last year or too. WOW…maybe if jet fuel wasn’t so expensive for someone’s (the manager’s) hobbies maybe we wouldn’t be getting overcharged for services. I know I’m not the only one with the complaints. A patient in front of me checking out to pay was quoted $106 by the doctor but her “manager” said $216. The patient was livid for being forced to pay double then what the doctor told her when she was checking out. I personally don’t feel Dr Lok is the issue…it’s the “manager” with no credentials of being a doctor who charged us $75 to run my son’s temperature, height, and weight and ask a few general health questions. People in Columbus and bigger cities don’t even overcharge like this place. I lived in Hawaii and when I paid for chiropractic services out of pocket it wasn’t even this expensive. Massachusetts VA gave unlimited chiropractic and Accupuncture services. Ohio sucks at caring for their veterans and families.

The best hospital I have EVER received care at. I have been inpatient, regular care, and ER treated here and every time has been phenomenal. The staff are the definition of compassionate and competent.

Worst experience from the podiatry department. Had the best and caring physician until I was told by another physician he was not there anymore, they were my new physician. Today I have to have my toe removed because of the care I did not receive for almost a year. Found original physician and he will remove my toe. If he would have been attending to my care in the beginning this will not have been a problem. Now I have to live with this issue. Thanks for finding my doctor and friend.

The VA is a disgrace to each and every veteran who served this country. 90% of people at their front desks in every department and the ones who answer the phones (if you ever get through) are unprofessional and lazy. Every.single.time.

I really think people should treat the patients, you know us veterans, like they would expect to be treated when it comes to their Healthcare. I've had to call and do my own follow up because if you wait, they won't call you. I've been on hold for over an hour at times only to be hung up on. I've had more negative experiences at Wade Park than positive ones. You really need to be your own advocate when it comes to the VA and this hospital in particular. I hope more veterans speak up and hopefully things will change.

Have had symptoms of tetanus for a week. Left a message for the doctor 4 days ago. Another symptom arose and I called back today to find out she never got that message. All of these facilities deal with VETERAN AFFAIRS but aren't on the same page.....why? Said I'd receive a call back about an rushed appointment for my symptoms and never got one.....why? Now have to go and sit in the ER and tell my story again to 3 more people to get assistance for something that started last week.....WHY?!?!?

The staff and personnel surrounding the VA medical system allow veteran to retire with grace and dignity. As a child I heard horrendous stories about the level of care that I may receive from the VA. To my surprise all of the stories may have spoken to wartime practices and inefficient care; todays medical system is nothing like the times of our forefathers. When we are at our lowest point it is the people who reach out with love, care and empathy that leave a lasting impression. The security provided by this medical system mixed with the personal touch is everything that America Needs in their level of care for its citizens.

I was a nurse in the private sector. Spent 4 yrs in the air force back in the 1980s. Was in a bad situation with my health. The care I was received was compassionate, respectful and effective. Pretty much gave me my hope and life back. Thank you Veterans Affairs for the great care!

Disrespectful. Website says 24 hpur access but director is issuing personal policy to prevent walkins and services that dont require appoinments like the px or requesting documents like fpia requests, no cant use the dav there either. The public is supposed to have access to walkin the facility in public property anyways so long as they arent receiving care or go into restricted areas anyways. The correct policy says we only need the va id to enter but they arent and refuse to. Since the councel rescinded vha directive 1078, i may decide to do a constitutional audit documenting my experience.

Checked in at the Emergency Department around 4am. I was having chest pains and short of breath. The receptionist was very curtious and friendly. Saw a doctor within 10 minutes. After admission to the hospital, everyone was kind and understanding. Care was equal to or better than UH Ahuja Medical Center. The hospital food is definitely way better at the VA than Ahuja. The VA Wade Park is 5 star.

If you are African American Female Veteran Do not go there!! You will only encounter humiliation, rejection, depression while they conspire with each other NOT to treat you. Frfr. The providers think we all are featured on the First 48.

Primary care front desk personnel do not care about your schedule preferences. They will set you at a date and time and won’t care to check for other available dates. They’ll simply tell you to take it or go away.

I had surgery and the crew was very polite, courteous and helped through the day. Got me a ride to another clinic, got me a ride back, got me a room. Asked all the time, whats your name, birth date, last four always making sure I'm the right guy. Surgery went well and I lived thru the whole ordeal.

Not sure which floor is worse 4A or cares tower 6. Psych floor staff on 6 are puppets of the doctors. No direction from management. Very unsafe. 4A never answers phones if they even work. They never answer call lights. Always understaffed and rude. Go elsewhere. Bad hospital

Yikes. 3 hours in waiting room, was told some people wait 6-8 hours before being seen. Quite rediculous.. There has been at least 10+ patients leaving, said waiting for a bed? They have taken people in that came in after us, that didn't look anymore of an emergency than we were here for.. Your 3.8 reflects the services that my husband received.. Hopefully he can get into the clinic and get better treatment.

We should make a more robust community outreach program. One that can allow more flexibility for different communication types and personalities. VSO's dont do outreach.

People are friendly and helpful. In my experience appointment wait time to see Doctors are reasonable plus they have TV'S in all waiting rooms, or make sure to bring something to do. Hospital is clean & so are the restrooms. Restrooms have electronic doors, one problem is not all restrooms doors are able to fit Wheelchairs and Rollators. I recommend Cleveland VA Hospital for all my care &you should to.

On hold for 45 min then you get dropped and have to call back and hold for another 40 min. Then you get dropped again just to find out they are closed on your third call. Called back in July still waiting to see a heart doctor.

After 17 years they still have not improved. You call and either get hung up on by the automated system or you can never reach a live person. I have to complain to my husband's PCP and then she has to pull strings to get us in touch with someone. I have no faith in the VA which is why are in medical bill debt due to the VA not caring for him as they should. America wants universal healthcare, well this is what it will be like. Months of waiting to see a specialist, doctors not fully listening to what you say to them. Providers brushing you off when you do come to them with proven diagnoses. The most frustrating fight of our lives has been with the VA.
