I was not impressed so much with this place. 1- The place is in a basement of some building , all the walls are cements, so it is super loud in this place. I can barely hear my wife during the entire night. 2- The main menu selection is very limited, no seafood in the mean menu. The paper menu has some more selection. 3- The portions are very small. My sword Fish and vegetables were very small and I paid 36 for it, plus tips and tax. Def has to eat some of wife's food, almost finished the desert and lot of bread. 4- My wife's stake was very very good. Still came with some fries, over all just a lot of money for very little food. 5- the wait time is really unacceptable. We got there at 8:30, the only time they had tables open, and we started eating at 9:50! Only half the restaurant was full, so I am not sure the extremely long wait. 6- no private parking for this place, expect to park in the back and freeze on the way to the restaurant if it's winter 7- desert was great. For this kind of money, I would not recommend this place.

One of my favorite restaurants, however, a disappointment last night. Wanted the thick cut fries as an appetizer but server wouldn't take order without full order. By the time we got the fries (luke warm) we had our soup course and then a $3 charge for extra aoli sauce. When I pay $60 for an entree, I expect to not get charged for an extra condiment.

I took my husband here for his 45th birthday. We had not been here before and it looked romantic. We arrived I let the owner know again that it was a very special day. Hospitality was poor!!!! They were very rude to us!! We go to many fine dining restaurants and have never been treated rude! All we wanted was a table that was open so we could have enough space for our food. We like to try a lot of things. They sat us at a tiny spot and we stared at the open table next to us. Server forgot our drinks. I guess Andy’s wife or whoever she is got into a rude conversation with us so we left. She only cared about turning tables over certainly didn’t care about customers experience.

Once again we hit the trifecta at Downtown 140, Unbelievable food, service and experience! Their Oysters are always fresh along with the fish. Menus change frequently based on seasons and what looks best. Always a welcoming to know if it does not look perfect from the start you will not see it on your plate! Sincere Thanks to the entire staff!!

Sat at the bar. The server was so nice! This food was phenomenal. I really cannot express how delicious everything was. Pictures is hangar steak, mushroom ravioli and thick cut fries as app. We happened in here on accident and seriously the best dinner I have had in a decade.

A friend and I enjoyed some delicious holiday cocktails at Uptown 140 (the upstairs cocktail bar of Downtown 140) last week. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the bartender was terrific! It is definitely a place I'd come to again for a drink with my husband or a group of friends!

Yet another great experience at Downtown 140. We celebrated our 46th anniversary tonight. The warm Spanish olives shareable was fantastic. My wife’s mushroom ravioli & my lobster pasta were fantastic. Our server, Miguel, was the best - helpful, friendly, engaging. Thanks to all!

We sat at the chef's table. It's really a countertop at the edge of the kitchen. What a fabulous experience! Like having dinner and a show at the same time. Great friendly staff and delicious food.

Absolutely Perfect! My wife and I celebrated her birthday here and can’t say enough great things about Downtown 140. Our food was perfect, the staff is very professional, and the atmosphere is very inviting. My only regret is not dining here sooner.

Doesn't get much better for the perfect combination of vibes and tasty, unique dishes! Atmosphere is moody, dark -- perfect for a romantic date night.

Thank you, Andy and crew for so warmly welcoming me and showing me Uptown 140 when all the bar seats were taken downstairs! Treated so well by the staff upstairs (street level). Wine selection was great. Cheese board was perfect!

My thoughts on my experience at this restaurant are mixed. On the one hand, the food was very good. Apart from a cocktail my friend had that didn’t taste very good—we were fans of everything. On the other hand, the service and atmosphere was very poor. We felt instantly judged the moment we walked in by both the staff and the patrons. We don’t exactly fit the mold of the clientele, and our server was not very happy to wait on us—despite receiving over a 50 percent tip on the expensive bill. It’s a shame because we’d love to try other items on the menu but felt very edged out and uncomfortable the majority of our time there.

Absolutely fantastic! Try the Wild Mushroom Carbonara. Excellent wine list. Great owners and team. Cool digs below street level in historic building.

Came back here after a long hiatus. ALL the food was good, and we are picky. Ordered the following for 3 of us: Chicken fried lobster(11 out of 10) Meatball and pasta(8 out of 10) Scallops (8.5 out of 10) Also beef carpaccio, oysters for appetizers. Both great 2 sodas and a beer Total bill $210.00 not including tip. Our server was great. My only knock on this place is the seating and noise. VERY loud for an upscale restaurant. "Booth" seats are really close together. You have a servers @ss in your face much of your dinner while they are serving neighboring tables. Sit on the inside tables if this bothers you like it does me.

Spectacular in every sense of the word. My wife and I had the most wonderful Sunday evening dinner we’ve had in a very long time. The bartender, Elizabeth, was fantastic and made excellent cocktails. The French onion soup and deviled eggs were perfect. The soup being some of the best I’ve ever had. I had Gigi’s meatballs and spaghetti for my main entree, and my wife had the sea scallops. Both dishes were perfect. I loved every bite. The owner checked on us multiple times, and was very kind. Overall, the experience was delightful, and the food was absolutely divine. We will be returning with an appetite again very soon. A fantastic evening.

This classy basement bar restaurant has some of the most delicious food, in a great atmosphere, with a great staff. Highly recommend Gigi's meatball, which is a family recipe passed down from the owner's grandma!

I had an amazing experience while in town for work I got there close to closing time and they fit me in to eat after a long day of work and no place really open to go eat the Lobster bisque was amazing and full of flavor best part was the chunks of actual lobster meat The mahi-mahi was also outstanding perfect crust in the sauce with the little bit of sweet was a perfect fit and the bartender also knows what she’s doing I asked for a rum drink that was sweet and she hit it on the spot awesome place to go with amazing flavors and you have to try the desert The chocolate flourless torte was also amazing with the vanilla bean cream I’m not sure exactly what it was but it was great

1st time here. Which is always interesting. Arrived super hungry and ready for our 1st date night in a while. Got the pork belly app which was crispy, sweet porky goodness on a plate, and hit every note (top 10 best apps Ive ever had). Wife got the hanger and I the airline. Both cooked to perfection with excellent flavor profiles (chx was crispy & moist). Drinks were good as well. Only request is more non seafood app items. Well be back. Cheers!!!

In the area, I have 6 restaurants that are superb. All a little pricey, but for the total 'package' great values. Downtown 140 is in my list. It is a bit of a drive for me which is probably why I only recently discovered it. After my first visit, I have gone back two more times, and anxious to go again. I won't get bored with the same offerings because each time, I had the special for the evening. Hudson is a nice old town, upscale and a great place for a stroll before and or after dinner. The restaurant is not large, very well decorated in an traditional timeless style. The Andy, the owner has greeted us as we enter on each visit, dressed in casual attire as are most of the guests. The cocktails are awesome, very creative. The one visit i had short ribs, another i had the halibut. I write this review a month later, and I can still taste these entrees in my mind. I cannot exit this review without a shout out to Miguel our waiter. He remembered us from our previous visit, his great attentive, detailed, and pleasant service really topped off the experience.
