Until last year, I had a trek bike. Had move; needed money; sold bike and other items. Now that I know that 7 minutes away there's a Trek Bike location, I will be visiting this place soon! I need another bike so I can drop 155 lbs quickly

For years I have been going to American Cycle and Fitness in GP for parts and service and they always exceed expectations. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I always prefer brick and mortar stores to online shopping because the expertise and product advise from the people in store assures you always get what you need the 1st time and they are living proof of that.

My salesperson Marlon was patient, knowledgeable and kind. I was buying a bike for my mother for her birthday and he made her feel comfortable and helped her choose a bike that fit her style and riding experience. Thank you Trek

I can't say enough wonderful things about this store and the people that work there! I went into the store right before closing for a gift for my boyfriend, and not only did Steve greet me with such a warm and positive welcome, but he carefully listened to what I was looking for and took the time to go through the options...never trying to oversell me, but hearing my budget and needs and found the perfect bike. THEN, after finding out I was pregnant, offered to help me get it into my house/attic...talk about excellent customer service!!! Marlon is an excellent salesman… His passion for cycling is obvious and took me for multiple rides to choose between three bikes. I seriously spent more time choosing a bike than I did choosing a car, and he was very patient. I ended up choosing two e-bikes for my daughter and I the rest of the staff are incredibly courteous and helpful as well. We love our new bikes, thank you!

Every time I step foot in American Cycle and Fitness (Grosse Pointe) my expectations are exceeded. Whether I am in a pinch and need quick repairs/service on my bike, or am there for a scheduled bike fitting, management and staff do a superb job of meeting my needs and then some. If you need ANYTHING bike related, go here - you will not be disappointed. Shout out to Stephen, Chaz, Adam - and all the rest of the extremely knowledgeable and courteous staff.

I’ve been a customer of this store on and off for about 7 years, much more regularly in the past year. Last year I purchased a used Trek road bike and needed a fitting. Everyone I talked to said go see Steve. I’m so glad I did! Steve was able to adjust some of my parts and use some the shop had laying around to get my bike fit perfect. Recently I hired the shop to tune up an older cross country bike. The end result is simply stunning. Thank you all for the top notch service!

These guys are great. I forgot my running stroller at home and I had a ten mile training run to fit in on my vacation to the area. Steve was super helpful. They don’t typically rent strollers but he offered me one of their floor models. Super helpful and great products. I would recommend this shop to anyone that wants spectacular service. I have never been treated so well in a bike shop. The front desk staff was welcoming, Steve was fantastic for the fitting and the adjustments made to my bike were game-changing. I have a 10-year-old Stevens TT bike and I was treated as if I had purchased a 10K Trek bike the day before. Customer service is above and beyond my expectations. As always, the Grosse Pointe store staff were five-star American Cycle and Fitness representatives and now Trek. Steve and Michelle are a fantastic team. When Michelle moved to the Grosse Pointe Store from Macomb, I moved all of my business to Grosse Pointe, including my police agency's account. I would still be waiting for the four police patrol bikes we ordered if it weren't for Steve and Michelle. They practically built a package for us, and we got the bikes last July. Since I have been working with Grosse Pointe, all my friends and family have gone there because they love the family feeling they get when they enter the shop. These guys are absolute pros! They are well equipped with knowledge and without a doubt have the best bikes around. However, while friendly, when I told them my budget was around 1K the tone of the conversation shifted and it became clear that I was no longer valued as a customer to the level that I was when they were attempting to get me to spend 3-5K. Even so, they were professional and have a great sales floor.

I have been there a few times before, always with Grade A service. I happened to have an issue with my bike today, so I called for advice / setup a service. They (Steve) were more than happy to troubleshoot the issue with me on the phone to hopefully solve the problem... really excellent service, I highly recommend!

If you’ve been all around Metro Detroit looking for the right bike shop, look no further. Michelle H was so friendly, knowledgeable and super helpful. The customer service and overall experience is top notch at this location. After going to several other bike shops (even another American Cycle location), we decided to make the drive down to Grosse Pointe in hopes that we could get some answers to a few questions we had. From the time we walked in, to the staff opening the doors for us as we walked out, it was a great experience! I felt confident with my first, new Trek bike purchase, after talking with Michelle. This place is great! I did a bike fit with Steve and the whole process was amazing! He's super professional, amazingly knowledgeable, and you can just tell he wants the best for you and your bike. If you get thirsty, they have bottled water. If you're sweaty they have towels for you. Beer? They have that covered too! Everything was first class customer service. Steve Merz was my sales representatives, and I want to pass along to you that I had an excellent experience working with him. He was very courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and patient. I mention patient because I visited the store several times to decide what bike would work best for me. Baydoun and I discussed numerous bike options and I rode several bikes, and he was patient and helpful throughout the entire process. Again, I enjoyed my experience at Gross Pointe Woods store. I called around to get information and Steve is the only one that took the time to look to see if the bike I wanted was available. So I drive an hour to see him and he could not have been nicer. I rarely write reviews, but for this new bike fit and purchase (with multiple accessories,) I felt its the least I could do to give credit to this outstanding business. By far the best purchase experience I have EVER had. I have been shopping for a bike for a few weeks now and have been in several bike stores within that timeframe in the metro detroit area. Not one of the other stores came anywhere close to this experience, buying a new bike was turning out to be a nightmare, until I walked in the door at this store. “Staff is extremely knowledgeable and professional” is an understatement. Steve knows exactly how to talk to you and explain in detail all of your options and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. From the minute I walked in the door to the minute I left my girlfriend and I kept looking at each other and whispering “this place is unbelievable”. My drive to this store is approximately 45 minutes and if I ever need to purchase “anything” bike related or have any service done, I will happily make the trip. Coming from someone who went to multiple stores to get this purchase done, please do yourself a favor and go here first, you will save a lot of time and headache. Thank You Steve. I just needed to come in to get air put in my tires. Michelle was super friendly and fast. She even helped me pick out a couple things I needed for my ride due to the windy weather. Overall great experience and I will be back :)

This shop SERVES the community! I brought my son’s mongoose in with a safety concern regarding the brake…. I was greeted with, it’ll be a few minutes if you have time…. Would you like a beer?!! Once they put the bike up to see if they could get us road worthy, he found that the bike was in ill repair. He went to the back and grabbed this beautiful Trek, wouldn’t take anything for it, tweaked it, washed it, did a full inspection and wouldn’t take a penny for it!!!! I owe them this review and any future business I can provide because they are sooo niceee. They have a killer inventory of serious bikes, and the service!!!! They made me a little misty eyed. I’ve been here several times and referred friends (one who bought a road bike after being fit) Steve and his staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, and provide quick service. All work I’ve had done on my bikes has been flawless. Can’t recommend them enough!!!

My family and I have been utilizing this bike store for well- over two decades. However, the customer service today was top-notch, as Steve selfishly took the time to help out at a moments notice with a stranded bike and trailer. Keep up the strong work and thanks again! Addendum: Another great experience at this store. Marlan helped put our Thule Apex bike rack together and installed it. He was so wonderful with my son, allowing him to help. Had some hiccups at pickup but the staff worked hard to resolve the issues make it right. I really love my Electra Cruiser!! The hibiscus color is really pretty and I can’t wait to get the basket!

All team members at the store are friendly, helpful, and professional, and I didn’t get a sense of standoffishness like many bike stores. The shop is clean, well organized, and Steve was especially helpful in ordering parts for a carbon wheel replacement. I wish this could have been the extent of my experience here, but I needed to write out this review. The reason I’m rating 3 stars instead of 5 is the subpar mechanical work I received, and the extra money and effort I had to go through to fix their poor work. I had wanted my steerer tube to be trimmed, which ended up getting overtrimmed. I had even given them all the proper spacers, which werent even used! I picked up the bike with the tube cut, no spacers, and Steve assured me that the bike fit remained the same. Really? The tube had spacers before it was cut, how can fit be the same without them? As I suspected, the bike just felt completely wrong on my next ride, and sure enough I could measure and verify that my steerer tube was way overtrimmed. Luckily enough there was barely enough tube remaining for me to replace my spacers back where they needed to be, but I still needed to purchase new handlebars to fully fix that problem. Not only was the steerer tube overtrimmed, another mechanic informed me that the brake cables weren’t replaced properly in the headtube, and the brake hoses weren’t properly bled. Both brake levers were mushy and full of air when I rebled my own brakes. Everyone was pleasant and I have no complaints about how I was treated at the shop. My complaint centers on the fact that I had to spend hundreds more on additional servicing and replacement parts to fix the slapshod work that this shop did for me. I refuse to bring my bikes back for them to work on.

What can I say but wow. I’ve been buying bikes for over 30 years. This was by far the best experience I’ve ever had buying a bike. Steve over at the store took so much time to make sure the bike fit me perfectly. I’ve never had someone take an hour to make sure the bike was set up exactly for my size. Customer for life keep up the great work guys

Trek Bicycle of Grosse Pointe is a fantastic bike shop. The repair is top notch and so are the people. You can trust your bike to be tuned up properly and fixed properly. Steve is a super helpful, knowledgable and kind employee. They have an awesome selection of bikes to choose from as well!

0/2 for getting my trek bike fixed here. Great staff, but unfortunately was not able to get my bike fixed properly on two occasions. They aren’t the best at diagnosis and repairs.

Made me feel very unwelcome. I had an appointment, but they acted like I was just a walkup and that my request was really putting them out. I had a mask, but was not allowed in even in 90 degree heat with only 1 other customer in the place. They are conveniently located and do good work, but two stars is all I can give considering the lack of customer service and making me feel so unwanted as a customer.

I had my bike in for service and Steve recommended a couple of improvements that would improve performance and comfort and he was spot on.

On an early morning road ride I noticed a "wobble" in my pedal. Not good. I knew I had stripped the pedal from the crank arm and that it was probably completely ruined. It was. I searched the internet to see how fast I could get a new crankset and for as little money as I could... Everything was at least a week away. I took the crankset to ACF and spoke with Dane and Adam who told me to go grab the bike and that they had something to get me going again. I ran home and grabbed it and Adam had a new bottom bracket and crankset installed in about 15 minutes. Amazing. The price was also great for what I purchased and I probably could not have ordered anything online in that category of parts for cheaper. And I got my week of riding back which is priceless! These guys are a legit shop and they've won my bike business from here on out. Thanks guys!

Bought a super bright 1100 lumen light last week for my electric scooter. It’s awesome! My scooter fell over and the clip that held the light to the Handel bar broke. I came in today fully expecting to purchase another clip and was given a replacement for free. It was not necessary for them to give me a replacement clip, but I didn’t even have to ask. Customer service goes a long way these days. Definitely will be coming back again to buy more accessories for my scooter. Thank you

I did not purchase my wifes Biria bike from American Cycle. During this pandemic it was hard to find this specific model at any local bike shop. I bought on line and American Cycle cycle Grosse Pointe assembled it for my wife. The assembly was very timely and fair priced for assembly. Before we left American Cycle Grosse Pointe, the mechanic performed a fit test for my wife and reviewed all the functions of the Biria bike. Staff was very customer friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend American Cycle Grosse Pointe for all you cycle needs.

I came to ACF because I was looking for a Trek & it was close to my work. I was very grateful for the great customer service and time taken to help me. I am a total novice as I haven't ridden a bike in 24 years but Steve took the time to make sure I understood what I needed to know and that I was comfortable once I had my bike and left the store and was on my own. It was a great experience and I am very happy with my new bike.

Short Review - Professional fitting by Steve Merz was an outstanding experience. He is remarkably knowledgeable and patient, and, an asset to our area. Long review: I had been experiencing wrist and foot pain while riding my current bicycle. Per doctor's orders, I have my road bike set up in the basement on a trainer. My bike had been professionally fitted about 3 years ago, however, based on my pain, it was time to be re-fitted. My brother and sister-in-law had excellent experiences with Steve and suggested I use his services too. I'm thrilled I did. Steve asked me to come with my bicycle and all of the gear I wear when riding. Our appointment lasted 2 hours. Perhaps you were fitted for a bicycle by standing an inch or so over the bar, or, sit on the bike and see if you have a slight bend in the knee while in position. If so, this process will blow your mind! Steve asked me my goals and then asked me to begin cycling on the apparatus pictured below. This device allows Steve to adjust every element of a bicycle: seat height, pitch, saddle choice, handlebar height, pitch, and style, pedal type and the distance between the bicycle and pedal. Laser measurements, video imaging, and energy output were all placed onto a computer to measure and judge how to adjust each element for an optimum outcome. Steve patiently worked through each variable to come up with a better fitting bicycle that would allow me to exercise comfortably. We agreed to change my saddle, seat post, handlebars and post, as well as pedals. My experience may be extreme, but, I wound up with a great fitting bicycle. I no longer have wrist nor foot pain. He then adjusted my bicycle to match the measurements taken from his apparatus. I had gone through a fitting process about 3 years earlier. That process was like using an abacus compared to an advanced computer. I can't imagine ever buying a bicycle without going through Steve and his meticulous process. This was an expensive process. However, I decided whether or not to accept the recommendations for different equipment (& the costs associated with it). I wound up with a great fitting exercise bicycle which cost a lot less than a Peloton (and fit better). Ultimately, the best recommendation to give is, knowing what I know, would I do this again. The answer is absolutely yes. I have been riding my bicycle for 6 weeks prior to writing this review, and, I am just as happy with my outcome today as I was when first picking my bicycle up. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, if you haven't picked up on it yet, Steve Merz did a tremendous job for me. I can't recommend him highly enough. He is remarkably talented in this world. Better still, he pleasant to work with and endlessly patient in experimenting. He is an asset that American Cycle & Fitness should be proud of working with. I hope he stays here for many, many years to come.
