I’m
absolutely
heartbroken
while
writing
this.
We
took
our
cat
in
yesterday
for
a
routine
dental
cleaning
that
Northside
had
been
pushing
us
to
schedule
for
months.
Before
the
appointment,
our
cat
was
his
usual
energetic,
happy
self.
As
of
now
he
is
in
critical
condition
at
the
UW
vet
hospital,
with
the
vets
telling
us
he
could
die
any
moment.
I
voiced
my
concerns
to
the
vet
at
Northside
before
the
cleaning,
but
she
assured
me
they
had
a
special
protocol
used
for
older
cats
with
arrhythmias
undergoing
anesthesia,
and
that
he
would
be
fine.
I
waited
all
morning
for
a
call
to
let
me
know
I
could
come
pick
him
up.
It
finally
came,
in
the
form
of
a
mealy-mouthed
message
informing
us
that
our
cat
was
breathing
more
quickly
than
normal
and
that
we
should
come
pick
him
up
and
take
him
to
the
UW
vet
hospital.
We
arrive
to
find
him
struggling
to
breathe,
salivating,
and
a
respiratory
rate
well
over
100
bpm.
We
come
to
find
out
the
procedure
had
been
completed
hours
ago
and
they
didn’t
call
us
immediately
to
tell
us
something
was
wrong,
but
just
sat
monitoring
him
instead
of
allowing
us
to
pick
him
up
and
take
him
to
UW
to
get
the
oxygen
treatment
he
desperately
needed.
I
can’t
tell
you
how
difficult
the
ride
to
UW
was.
Holding
on
your
cat
in
your
arms
as
it
struggles
to
breathe
while
panicking,
wheezing
and
salivating.
It
was
a
devastating
experience
that
I
wouldn’t
wish
on
anyone.
Please,
please
avoid
this
place
if
you
want
the
best
care
for
your
pets.
It’s
clear
to
me
now
that
they
place
profits
over
the
well-being
of
animals.
