I just love that place. They serve delicious food. The restaurant is a nice place to do some work and doing some coding. They actually got a working wifi.

Sakamanga is a place with a good vibe. It has many rooms with a large price range to accommodate everyone. It has been renovated with taste and though there are maybe a bit too much hanging the wall for a private residence, here it works because it looks like a mini-museum. The location is very central. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is a tasteful buffet and the restaurant has a large menu and it is considered a good restaurant by residents so it is also animated. Maybe the only regret, but it is outside of the hotel’s control, is the air pollution in Antananarivo and so if you are having difficulties with breathing (asthma or other), maybe it’s best to look for hotels in a parc near the airport. I enjoyed my time at Sakamanga.

The true value in this property lies in its thoughtful and personal curation of Malagasy artifacts depicting life, from the owner's perspective. My room was basic: clean, well-lit, and with a separate seating/work area, although on the entry hallway which got very noisy at times. Other welcomed additions were the shaded pool and garden areas, which both served food & drinks. If you're looking for luxury, this will disappoint. If you're looking for authenticity and connectedness, you can't go wrong here.

Cool building, it's several old buildings combined, so there are corridors and passageways inside and outside between them, all joined up with gardens and seating areas. It's full of old artifacts, enough to fill a museum the guidebook said...no kidding. Cute pool and snack bar, amazing buffet breakfast, peacocks in gardens, secured parking across street...once you get through Tana traffic...

Centrally located with a really good restaurant - make sure you book even if staying as gets busy. Rooms are clean and well kitted with everything you need. If you can, book the suite with outside terrace - it's definitely worth the little extra you pay. Nice bar and pool area for relaxing away from the hustle and bustle outside. Lots of nice artifacts give the property character. All in all a very good stay for a few nights.

Nice place near the center of Antananarivo. Parking is a bit of a challenge as they only have a small parking lot across the busy street from the hotel. The topography of the area also makes driving and parking tricky as the road is very steep. Rooms are well appointed and reasonably priced. One issue was the bathroom fan in our room was very loud and as it was wired to the light switch it was always on when you were using the bathroom. We mentioned it to the reception upon check-out and they took down a note (presumably to have it looked at). Breakfast buffet for 35.000Ar is decent with a good variety of choices including cereals, juices, yogurt, fruit, tea/coffee, toast, crepes, croissants, butter, jams, rice soup (vary amin'anana), bacon, sausages, eggs made to order, and a selection of sliced meats and cheeses. Service was also very good.

Sakamanga is a great hotel with character and atmosphere in the heart of Antananarivo. Plenty of f&b options at the pool bar and restaurant and consistently reliable service from all staff. Only disadvantage is that the rooms can be a little bit cramped with mosquito/cockroach issues.

It is a city inside of the town. Peacefull, quiet, full of creativity and of bright colors. The staff is friendly and helpfull. You won't be dissapointed if you decided to stay here. Just check the room before entering...because they are completely different from each other.

Amazing magnificent one of a kind place Great food, great location, amazing rooms! You enter the door not expecting the paradise that follows I think it is a pity if you visit Tana, not to stay at this place It also has a great bakery, other restaurants and anakely market in walking distance The hotel breakfast is one of the best we has Great variety, perfect quality and normal prices Also there are antiques and displays in all corridors giving you the chance to explore.. The water was hot, mini fridge was ok and there is nothing to complain about I highly recommend it and if we ever visit Tana again, it is the place I wish to stay!

Very clean, attention to detail, decorated with beautiful ethnic or even historical pieces, comfortable rooms with nice bathrooms. Good breakfast buffet and excellent restaurant above reception. The house fois gras terrine was excellent, as were the scampi ravioli. (Original) Albergo di atmosfera in una città che di atmosfera non ne ha molta. Excellent room and service, but I wish I had known Saka Express was closed for renovations, because many popular items on the menu were unavailable (no French fries, no kids burger, no pizza, no sandwiches) . Also, I was disappointed that we couldn't have dinner next to the pool and had to eat in the upstairs restaurant.

The hotel is cool to look at but definitely a big mosquito problem but so does the whole country. The room is equipped with a mosquito net and a plug in that is supposed to repel mosquitoes. The breakfast here is very good though! So even if it is a little expensive, it's definitely worth it.

Good place, decent rooms, slightly off the main tourist area of Tana. Communication with staff not always easy, but they're very friendly and helpful. Breakfast like 100 feet up the street; dining room food is quite good (includes zebu tartare). Hotel is odd, a combination of old buildings, easy to lose your way even on compact grounds. Fascinating displays of Malagasy culture and history on many hallway walls. Pool seems inoperative, but nice place for lunch.

We've stayed here for two nights at te beginning and end of our journey trough Madagascar. The location was perfect: in the middle of the city and with a private parking spot. The rooms and the food were very nice. Only the communication at the reception wasn't smooth: they didn't speak English very well and were multiple times too busy to help us.

Third time staying here and great as always. The staff are very accommodating and service is excellent as usual. The hotel has awesome art and history throughout and the rooms are comfortable. I have stayed at many other hotels and saka manga is by far the most reliable and comfortable to stay in. I'll be back the next time I'm in Antanarivo for sure.

We needed to travel back to Tana for medical treatment and a local guide brought us to Sakamanga and it was just perfect. For Madagascar it isn't the cheapest place but compared with European prices it's very reasonable. The staff are very friendly and the entrance always has someone outside (it feels very safe). The corridors are like a museum. The restaurant is really very good (try the duck confit) and breakfast is a huge spread. I've already recommended the place to numerous friends. Saka express is also good for something quick to eat (just down the hill).

What a lovely hotel, behind an unimpressive exterior. Lots of artefacts decorating the place. Excellent food in the restaurant. Be prepared for mosquitoes though. Staff friendly and helpful. Bed very comfy, decent shower. Electricity a little unreliable, but likely nothing to do with the hotel. Girlfriend *hated* the parrot though! To be fair, it's a bit annoying when it's biting your shoe, and it is a little aggressive.

(Translated by Google) I only tested the restaurant, well, one of the restaurants should I say, the one by the pool, à la carte. The establishment has another one, it seems, at the buffet ?? And then overlooking the street, fast food. The decor is sumptuous, the place is clean and you eat with confidence; the menu is varied and rich, the dishes copiously served. It's chic without taking the lead and the prices are affordable. I even saw on the map "Leffe", it was enough for me to go back several times.

Overall a nice and interesting hotel with cosy garden to get away from the buzzing of the streets. Avoid room No 9 (soft room) which is right next to the reception and even though they have made considerable effort not reduce noise, it is not a nice room, has no view and has smell of humidity coming from the bathroom. You can also feel the vibrations of cars going by in the street. It is not the cheapest room in the hotel so I am wondering how worse the lower cost ones can be. If we were going to spend more nights than one, I would have upgraded as the rest of the hotel seems really nice. I would also recommend that you opt for the buffet breakfast as it is really worth it even though it has the same burnt coffee as elsewhere in the country. Recommendation to management: since the electricity turns off several times during the night, please turn off the feature where the TV turns on automatically every time the electricity comes back. It woke us up 5 times during the night until we eventually removed completely the card from the socket.

Nice little boutique hotel in central Tana. The newly renovated rooms are a cool contrast to the older retro-style ones. The whole hotel is decorated with interesting memorabilia from the 70s and beyond. The restaurants serve local and international dishes and are a great choice for any meal. The staff are friendly and attentive at all times. Highly recommend this spot!
