Exhibits, photos, restaurant, beer, educational cultural/historical videos, coffee, scenic views, gardens, toilets, giant juniper trees! What else do you want?

It's important to know where you come from to know where to go...

Beautiful layout but I felt it was too pricey at €5 entrance fee for the displays it was offering. It had 4 rooms projecting about a total of eight 4-5 minutes films of still photos with narrations. The narration is available in Malagasy, French and English and you can click for your language of choice. But the person doing the English narration had such a strong accent that it was difficult to follow. I expected to see more photographs on display but very sparse. They have a beautiful garden and I hear their cafe is great but I didn’t get an opportunity to go there.

Nice museum but but too small for everything that they could conceivably show. Definitely, wish that it was larger so that they would be able to more of their permanent collection. Their video presentations on the first floor were good and the upstairs rotating show was good. There are pictures of the interior to post as pictures are not allowed.

Great little museum retelling the history and introduction of Photography in Madagascar. The museum has a small collection of photos and 4 booths with video projections explaining the history of photography in English, French or Malagasy. There is also a small café adjacent to the museum and the location, gives you a great view of Antananarivo. Hopefully the collection gets expanded as people submit more pictures and more of them are restored. Definitely a place to visit if you're visiting the capital and the rest of the country as you will see how all these places looked like in the past and learn a bit of Madagascar's history in the process.

Small but interesting museum with many videos explaining both the history of Malagasy photography and the temporary exhibition. On the top floor, the exhibition in well designed. I would have liked to have also a permanent space with old photos of Antananarivo and other main cities. Great view of Antananarivo from the top floor.

They have six short documentaries about Madagascar and its cultural heritage, made up of historic photographs in 3 languages. In addition, there's also a number of photographs on display on the walls with explanations. A small souvenir shop (beautiful postcards!), a temporary photo exposition in the garden (environment conservation) and a lovely garden restaurant. Great views from the hilltop. Overall worth a visit.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful discovery with this museum of photography of Madagascar, a soothing setting with its beautiful park offering a magnificent view of part of the capital! An original museum where the photographs of the Malagasy history are transcribed in the form of very interesting little explanatory films! A last room with a theme set in photo enlargement and explanations. We were fortunate to have a little more information discussing with the director of the museum and learned that the original photographs are basically in the form of negative on glass and requires a lot of research work, cleaning and scanning! Too bad this part of the background work is not yet put forward in this very young museum! We also learned that films and exhibits change every 4 or 6 months to present multiple topics in the history and culture of the country. After the visit we ate at the museum cafe, warm welcome, very good and not very expensive.

A spectacular photography museum. Still no Magalasi perspective is presented, specially on the documentaries displayed. I recommend visiting this place for more understanding the colony period and mentality.

The museum itself is really interesting, although quite small. Budget maybe an hour for the whole thing. It is also situated on top of a hill with a beautiful view of the city. Definitely recommend if you want to learn about the history of Madagascar through photos taken by Malagasy photographers. The museum is available in French, Malagasy, and English.

Highly recommend visiting after the queen's palace. A couple short movies make use of old photographs to provide interesting documentaries about different subjects about the country (history, religion, medecine, transportation...) Upstairs, a themed photo exhibit is presented. At the time of writing, the subject was the traditional Malagasy "Lamba" cloth.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful discovery of the history of Madagascar in photo. Well-thought-out museography and a warm welcome. Congratulation ! Just a small flat for the uneven quality of the comments. The collections are rotating ... and I will return with pleasure. (Original) Une belle découverte de l'histoire de Madagascar en photo. You can watch quite a number of videos of photography in Mada. It would be nice to see more archival pictures or photographic equipment in the Museum

Nice photo museum to appreciate Madagascar’s history. The photo exhibition are not quite exhaustive, but gives a good overview.

The museum is not the greatest thing to see in Antananarivo but the restaurant next to it makes it get the high mark because I had a great meal there. The photo museum is nice and it's a good little distraction in your day but the restaurant makes it complete.
