Absolute gem of a national park. Please go visit now and support them as the park is under threat from loggers! The ticket office is well organized, they'll hook you up with a guide with whom you can organize your hikes.

An amazing experience in the deep forest of Madagascar. Ranomafana is open for tourists to enjoy and the guides are making it a great experience to show the Madagascarean nature off. Lemurs are out and about - we saw the golden bamboo, the sifaka and many others, on a nice sunny day! The best time is to make it to the park by 7 am when the lemurs are out for breakfast. The guides cost extra but you can't go in the park without. And you shouldn't! The guides are knowledgeable, fun and together with the spotters make it for a very nice visit! It is a little steep and a rough terrain but it is so worth it!

Lots of lemurs, sifakas, geckos and chameleons to see. The guides and spotters were good and located the wildlife quickly. We did the longest trek that took us through the primary area and the waterfalls. All in all a very good experience.

To watch the birds start at 6 or 5 in the morning. For the lemurs, you can start at 8 so you will spot them just after their breakfast. These lemurs are moving quit fast so you have to pick up the pace if you want to spot them. 2 hours can be enough but if you like to see the waterfall you can take an 8 hour hike.

Great to see the bamboo lemurs and 5 other species of lemur! Guide Emile Rajeriarison is a legend, he is supremely knowledgeable and connected with the forest (the park was created in 1986 after he and scientists found the golden bamboo lemur, he is in photos on the office wall from 86, multiple species named after him that he discovered...book him if you can!). But Madagascar Parks urgently need to set protection rules similar to countries like Costa Rica etc, not let anyone walk off trail, damaging the bush, chasing animals, touching flora and fauna, limit daily visitors, etc

Loved it. Guides were great, not too much of a hard sell at the gate. The walking path in from the road is well established, though my guide took me off the main path in search of lemurs, which we immediately found. Guides spoke multiple languages. This was just a quick stop for me while driving through on a work trip, but it was well worth the hour I spent.

Highly recommend. What a fantastic 2 days of hiking we did. Wish we could have stayed longer. The wildlife experiences are incredible. With a great guide and good spotters you see so much. We came within 15 feet of golden bamboo lemurs and got fantastic photos. Love it!

Great park to visit for lemurs and birds. Stayed at Granit Hotel. Good basic food and accommodation and reasonably priced. Make sure you agree on costs with the guide beforehand. I asked for someone who knew birds and charged me 720K ariaries for three days. Said he was a specialist guide. Basic guiding and knew the birds but no idea about photography or birds habits. Night walk was disappointing as it’s along the main road which is dangerous and people all talking loudly so not surprising you don’t see much. Walked the trail on the northern side but not much seen.

(Translated by Google) This is the dry season. It is the winter of the island. The temperature difference between day and night is even greater. However, the types of lemurs seen in the rain forest are much more than the last four. The Japanese guards are as easy to find as the people. The night view of the chameleons and frogs is also very good. Great, Satan's leaf tail guards the palace no matter how many times you look at it!

(Translated by Google) A truly majestic park. It offers three different routes. We have chosen the medium one which lasts about 6 hours. Quite tiring but worthy. We have seen many lemurs and many unique animals. The guides are professional and motivated. (Original) Parco davvero maestoso. Offre tre differenti percorsi. Noi abbiamo scelto quello medio che dura circa 6 ore. Abbastanza faticoso ma meritevole. Abbiamo visto molti lemuri e tanti animali unici. Le guide sono professionali e motivate.

Overpriced many times. Basically you gonna get a forest walk and you will see lemours on the trees. Trees are very high so you will not see much. This was the most expensive and unattractive place on Madagascar on this trip.

  • 2/5 Victoria B. 4 years ago on Google
Way overpriced for Madagascar, making entry for 2 people cost $40 (with mandatory guide). This is almost a monthly salary. However, they don't give you receipt for the guide. There was a 1.5-2 hour walk with couple here, couple there lemurs on the top of the trees. Guide smelled like hangover. Minimum information was given after my questions.

Located in the southeastern region of Madagascar near the village of Ranomafana, the Ranomafana National Park is one of the nation’s most popular parks. The eastern section of the park is the most scenic, with numerous streams splashing through densely forested hills. The park is home to the endangered golden bamboo lemur, an animal whose diet includes bamboo shoots that contain doses of cyanide that would be lethal to other animals, yet the charming golden lemur feeds on the bamboo with no ill effects.

We were at 19.9.19, took the medium tour with William. Amazing Park, cool shade by the trees, saw a few Lamurs on trees and some special plants, frogs and the magical Giraffe weevil. The english could be better so we could better understand.

A must see while in Madagascar lemurs everywhere!

  • 5/5 Michael Scott N. 3 years ago on Google
Fantastic!! Amazing, definitely a must do while visiting Madagascar! Keep in mind that, as of Sept 2018, you pay for most EVERYTHING with local currency. IF you can find a ATM / CASH MACHINE it doesn't give much, maybe 400000 to 700,000. So you gotta load up a bit to pay for guides, tickets, drivers, hotels -though some do take VISA. We hiked 2 separate days, seeing 5 types of Lemurs, several Geckos, lizards, snakes, spiders, many birds, waterfalls, and tons of incredible fauna. So worth it!! You may get 2 guides, one a guide and one a spotter, the price for 1 guide is set, just make sure you negotiate any extra with the spotter. They are really sweet and helpful so not to much to worry, but do all negotiating in advance. It's so amazing here, come and ENJOY!!!

(Translated by Google) It happened that it was raining today. The Hanumafana National Park was muddy and difficult to walk. I did n’t see many lemurs. There were 2 large bamboo lemurs, 7-8 bamboo monkeys, and 4 brown lemurs. There are many locusts (water striders), and one of them landed on my head for a meal. Remember to wear raincoats, trousers and cloth shoes in the rainy season to walk and prevent locusts.

The park is amazing. Great nature paired with hils and most importantly tons of exotic animals is just great. On top of that there are many Hotels in all price classes close to the park. The infrastructure is also very good for madagascan standards. But sadly some of the tracks where closed due to safty concerns (2019). I recommend the long hikes because you will be almost alone most of the time

(Translated by Google) The park allows you to enter the jungle on routes from 3 hours. During the tour we could see 5 species of lemurs. The guides were very attentive and were looking for animals to show us. They also explained a lot about the park and the animals and plants we saw, although sometimes they didn't express themselves very well in English. The road is relatively simple although some areas are very steep. (Original) El parque permite adentrarse en la selva en recorridos desde 3 horas.
