Tsingy de Bemahara National Park is unique in the world and located in the southwest of Madagascar. This trip is a true exploration of nature and an expedition in nature. Plan a week to cross the Tsingy and go down the river. You have to rent an all-terrain vehicle to get there. Official paid tourist guides are at your disposal. A guided tour is highly recommended if you really want to explore the Tsingy.

This is so much more than just another day trip in the forest. We arrived at the parking area in our 4x4s and were strapped into climbing harnesses and started our journey into the forest and them the limestone pinnacles that make Tsingy famous. The loop we took was about 4 to 5 hours round trip with stops for photos and marvelling at the place we had encountered. Thinking we had accomplished the hardest bit on the way in, we still found ourselves in a obstacle course of small caves and tunnels, ladders, and footholds, along with plenty of rock scrambling and scaling to reach the end of the hike. The hike is intense, but so worth the scratches and bruises. Good walking/hiking shoes and gloves recommended for climbing over sharp rocks.

Often ranked #1 national park in Madagascar, I was a bit disappointed. It takes a day to get there and a day to go back and if you do the "grand Tsingy" trail like I did, you'll spend roughly 1 hour in the Tsingy, which consists mostly of waiting in line while others take selfies. I don't think the park is worth the trip. It's also considerably more expensive than other parks. I found the Tsingys at Ankarana special reserve to be a much nicer experience.

It’s worth the long journey ! Not easy (and cheap) to get there but it’s beautiful place. Like any NP in Madagascar you’ve have to have a guide (which was new to me, guide + entrance + taxes =275k ar or 70usd for 2, most expensive NP i’ve ever been in the world, i’m fairly doubtful about the effect of this policy on tourism on the long run), so pick the right one 😉 We did the “big tsingy”, it’s still fairly short and easy, even if sometimes it looks more like climbing than hiking but nothing hard. Sold as a 3-4h hike, without breaks it’s doable in 1h or so for anyone in shape. Lemur spotting and breathtaking panoramas, despite the price i wish we stayed one more day.

Situated on the western coast of Madagascar, Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park is known for its breathtaking limestone formations. Read on to see what makes this park a must-see on your next trip to the country. Ever heard of Tsingy De Bemaraha in Madagascar? If you love nature, you will definitely appreciate this park’s natural beauty. While the country is known for lemurs, birding, baobab trees, and jungles, Tsingy De Bemaraha provides tourists with a little different experience. The sheer diversity of its landscape, marked by sweeping canyons and gorges and grand waterfalls will give even the most seasoned traveler goosebumps. It’s that beautiful. Home to the most mind-blowing and unique geological formation in the world, the Tsingy are marked by gigantic limestone stones with jagged peaks. But that’s only the start.

A must if you go to Madagascar! I enjoyed everything single step of it which more than just another tour. This is an adventure. The history of the Tsingy, the road, the hike, the nature around is all worth the effort to make it there ! I even had the chance to meet Lemurs. The site is absolutely beautiful and full of powerful energy. It feels great to be in the caves when it's really hot. I went on trip with the amazing human being Gibert Ramorasata (fb) and I would definitely recommend him to anyone. I loved it, DO NOT MISS IT.

It’s a wonder! The trek is awesome. We went in the month of November so the trek was not crowded. The view from the top is awesome. Our guide mentioned that Tsingy De Bemaraha meant tip toeing bare feet on pointy edges. Their ancestors used to do so. The limestone formations are a delight to watch and definitely worth the long drive we had to take to actually reach here. I also tried to climb the Tarzan rope.

Nice place. Seeing the Stone carved by nature and many species of animal. But better take Carter Aeroplane from Andre Rasampa Morondava Airport to Adema Airport ,close to Tsingy. Don't use car. Needs 10-12 hours through Bumpy roads. By Carter Aeroplane, you can easily go back to Morondava. No need to stay in Bekopaca since there is no proper Accomodations. The best hotel in Bekopaca has no Air Conditioner.

I did the Great and the Small Tsingy hikes. Worth the long trip from Morondava. The official guides from the park are excellent and if you need an English speaking guide, Edila (or simply EL) is your woman. Fluent in English, super nice and very knowledgeable. She made the trip really fun for us.

Site naturel exceptionel.

It's a park with karst formations identical to Shilin Stone Forest in China so if you've seen Shilin don't waste your time. All others ... you're looking at straining 4×4 ride from Morondava onwards but it's totally worth it. The place is Godly! Antananarivo to Morondava is paved road. You MUST hire a driver who will pick you up at Antananarivo airport and will organize everything for you. You'll see Avenue Of Baobabs on the way there. Driver will ask for 20% in advance but don't worry, he will NOT screw you over. I'm talking about any driver that you find online who does this. They care about reputation and are very honest people. Morondava to here is the entire day drive on bumpy dirt road almost all the way. You cannot do this one on your own. Once you're here they'll take you to a 4h moderately easy hike through the stone formations. (didn't see children) Highly recommended if you're looking at what to do and see in Madagascar.

Just go!!

An amazing park and an amazing experience, but come prepared. Hiking boots, long pants, and lots of water. It is an intense hike with lots of steep ups and downs. You’ll wear a harness so know what you’re getting into. It’ll easily take 5 hours and you need a guide. But you do get to see lemurs and birds and great views. Enjoy!

Visiting Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park in Madagascar was like stepping into another world. The park is filled with towering limestone peaks that look like a stone forest. Walking through the sharp, jagged rocks and crossing the high bridges was both thrilling and a bit scary. I saw unique wildlife like lemurs and colorful birds that I'd never seen before. The landscape feels ancient and untouched, like a hidden gem of nature. Exploring Tsingy de Bemaraha was an unforgettable adventure, making me appreciate the raw beauty of our planet.

Grande Tsingy: Most rustic park we visited, but the most protected - likely because of the spiritual significance. Not accessible to people with 'size or mobility' restrictions (narrow caves, low passageways, narrow stairs). Worth the 3 day trek to get there, and you're sure to meet interesting travelers on the way.

EASY hike through the Big Tsingy, even in sandals. Metal cables to hook on to, ladders, viewing platforms, and 21 meter suspensión bridge are expertly fixed by the French. Multiple trails to take in / out and varied. There are no claustrophobic "caves" A few easily managed tight sis like Petra, Jordan (in Indiana Jones). Only 5,000 steps. I only overheard one lady from L.A. in her 30's say the next day she was a little sore, which I find hard to believe. She must be a couch potato in Hollywood! There are 2 kinds of wild lemurs in the surrounding forest - the red-breasted brown lemurs that walk on all 4 AND the black faced white lemur that walks on 2 feet. They're wild, so they are mostly up in the trees, sometimes in groups of 3 looking down at you or running from branch to branch. There are also yellow breasted something or other birds feeding on insects in flight and LOTS of little brown birds. More BROWN BIRDS! Maybe birders know the difference and care. Some look all day for days just to find some of the endemic species they flew a long way to see.

The limestone rocks known as the tsingy were formed by a deposit of fossils and seashells under the sea 200 million years ago when thick layers of calcite at the bottom of the lagoon formed a thick limestone bed. They have been shaped by rain water for the past 5 million years. In the 18th century, the Tsingy were the home of the Vazimba, the first inhabitants of Madagascar, who lived in caves surrounding limestone formations. Today, they are a place of worship and ceremony - tromba and tomb, for the local population. In 1990, the Tsingy were designated as a World Heritage site. In 1997, they were established as a national park.

Tsingy so dang cool. there are some heights involved so do know that but it is very safe. its not a place that I guess would be for everyone but if its for you its really cool. the park does offer other things to do also.. some caving, nothing extreme but still cool. We went in one and turned out our headlamps and just sat there for a few minutes it was so peaceful and yet freaky. Getting to Tsingy is a bit of a trip so be ready for that. Our tour guide was very helpful and helped to make our time great.

Wonderful national park in Madagascar full of fascinating wildlife (we saw many lemur!), gorgeous and unique rock formations (the rope bridge over the spike gorge is unforgettable!), and all manner of cool flora. Staff were friendly and helpful. Accommodations were okay... not terribly comfortable but we really just spent the nights there. Getting there was a trip... prepare for rough roads and possibly menacing encounters, though most people were friendly enough. Avenue of the Baobabs is very cool. Morondava is depressing, and Antananarivo even more. It is disturbing to see the contrast between beautiful Tsingy and the rest of the Madagascar countryside, which has been decimated by the government and people.

Tsingy (translated as walking on tiptoes) is an amazing place of geological wonder that is a focal point in both Madagascan and African (as a continent) history. Our guide, Max, was very knowledgable and took us on a well-paced tour of the park, inclusive of looking in the forest for lemurs and other creatures and climbing Tsingy itself. Walking boots are a much as some of the terrain is a bit sharp, and you can only access the park via 4x4.

Tsingy itself is like stepping into another world, full of strange wonders and new sights. Tremendous biodiversity and abundance of animals, plants and incredible geological features. Getting there unfortunately meant dealing with the risk of bandits, crooked tour operators and drivers, musty rooms and other non-great conditions. That's all fine if you're looking for an adventure, which fits with traveling to Madagascar. What was harder to deal with was the abject poverty and the fact that while Tsingy is a necessary haven for wildlife, so much of the rest of the surrounding country has been razed and ravaged by poverty and corruption.

One of the masterpieces of great natural art work by creative Earth can be seen at Tsingy Bemaraha National Park. Tsingy de Bemaraha Strict Nature Reserve is a nature reserve located near the western coast of Madagascar in Melaky Region. The area has been declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990 due to its unique geography, associated preserved mangrove forests, and it's unique flora and fauna. Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park is spread over 666 square kilometres and is at the southern end of the protected area. The northern end of the protected area remains as a strict nature reserve (Réserve Naturelle Intégrale) encompasses an area of 853 square kilometres. Over the years, the limestone formation of this area has been carved by the Nature using groundwater to shape into a unique needle-shaped limestone formations, above the cliffs over the Manambolo River. This is karst topography. One cannot walk here bare foot. That is why the name Tsingy in local language. It is a feast the eyes. Visit this marvelous place to enjoy the beautiful creation of rare landscape by the Nature. Also visit lots of beautiful places and associated flora and fauna unique to beautiful Island country Madagascar. Good luck.

Tsingy de Bemaraha The Tsingy de Bemaraha Reserve lies in the southern region of Madagascar’s largest natural reserve, Tsingy de Bemaraha Strict Nature Reserve. The word “tsingy” refers to the pinnacles that dot the park’s limestone plateau. Located near the country’s west coast, the park features a broad expanse of mangrove forest. The park is home to seven lemur species, including the Deckens sifaka, a genus of lemur notable for its creamy white fur and black face.

Tsingy du Bemaraha is a huge nature reserve in Madagascar, which consists of limestone cliffs that go up to 40 meters into the sky. The reserve is located on the west coast of the island. It was created to protect karst landscapes and different types of lemurs. The area of the Tsingy de Bemaraha Nature Reserve is 1,500 km². For the most part, it consists of impenetrable labyrinths. These are ridges of limestone battlements, which the locals call "scurvy", which means "to walk on tiptoe".

The Tsingy de Bemaraha Nature Reserve is located in the Antsalova District, central west Madagascar. It was named an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990. A combination of geological and climatic factors has produced in Tsingy (literally: region in which you cannot walk barefoot) a phenomenon which is unique in the world: a veritable forest of limestone karst, complete with pine-needles. The northern part of the Tsingy is a strict nature reserve; tourists are not allowed in. The remaining 732 square km of bizarre rock formations, untouched green forests and indigenous fauna and flora – many of them as yet unrecorded – have to be seen to be believed. Zingy lies 300 km west of the capital Antananarivo, which is the closest airport; depending on road and weather conditions, the trip can take up to five days. Both car rental and an experienced guide are strongly recommended (public transport is virtually nonexistent) and even then, your trip to the Tsingy de Bemaraha is going to be the adventure of a lifetime!

The highlight of our 24 day trip to Madagascar. We learnt quickly that you earn your experiences on this island, and the Tsingy is the best example of this. Not to be missed. Make sure you do the full route that starts down a steep ladder, and channel your inner Indy.

Un must-see à Madagascar.
