Casual Vegan Japanese restaurant serving nice range of dishes - In particular, the Chapche and Mushroom/Tofu croquettes were great. Good value too and friendly staff. Worth a visit midweek if you don’t fancy cooking. If you’re looking for more of a dining experience from a atmosphere/interior perspective, there are more fancy, expensive options in the area, but the food hits the spot!

A place to die for. I’ve been vegan for 6 years and I’ve never had such a tasteful meal. I’m very glad to have chosen this place for my birthday meal. Now I’ll come back every time I visit London. Amazing food, amazing service (cutest waitresses ever!) and amazing interior design. We loved it! Thank you and thank you!

It's a small vegan spot near King's Cross. Surprisingly, on a Tuesday, it was quite busy! It was a bit cramped as the couple next to us took up a bit of room, but otherwise, the tables were spaced out just enough. Service wise they were very respectful and quick with taking our order and bringing out food. Food wise I was a bit disappointed. All the dishes were pretty good, but a friend highly recommended this spot for the food. It wasn't bad, but I have had better vegan/vegetarian options elsewhere. Aside from that, the two tofu dishes we got were nice.

An AMAZING vegan meal!!! Inventive and most of all delicious!! There was a warm and cozy atmosphere, and the staff was incredibly kind and patient with our every request. I can't recommend this sweet and authentic place enough! Bonus tip - order the mochi. Trust me. Thank you Itadaki Zen for showing us a wonderful time 😁

Vegan Japanese? Definitely something worth trying! A big selection of interesting dishes. We particularly liked the meatballs, the gyoza, and the sushi. However, we found the portions quite small for the price. Also, the fact that the dishes are supposed to be shared between two people but most dishes have 5 pieces was a bit strange - especially when each piece is different, like the sushi for example. But the place is cute and the overall experience was nice 😊

Itadaki Zen is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in London. It is very affordable and the food there is really good. The service was also exceptional <3 I would definitely recommend the matcha cheesecake and also the plum wine. // edit: their miso ramen and aubergine are amazing 10/10 recommend you try these.

Food is flavourful, portion sizes are smaller as described in the menu (tapas portions). Therefore, order a few dishes to make it a decent meal. Will go back to try their ramen!

First time back here for a while - I remembered it was good but it exceeded my expectations! Fantastically well-balanced flavours, I especially liked the aubergine and vegan Meatballs. First time trying plum wine as well, which was very drinkable. Staff were very attentive and service was quick despite it being quite busy. Not the cheapest place (£50 for two with a drink) but if you'd like a something a bit special, this is a great choice!

Went here two weeks ago for a meal with a friend. Very good casual-style Japanese food in an authentic and cosy setting. We got the spicy ramen and were not disappointed. Definitely recommend if you're in the area or if you're vegetarian or vegan.

Being vegan, organic and tasty is one thing, but being all these things and have a great variety of items is another. There's nothing wrong with Itadaki Zen, but also nothing too special. Everything on the menu looks good enough to eat, but none of the dishes was popping out or seeming particularly interesting or delicious. It's not exceptionally expensive, but not cheap either, as essentially you're just eating vegetables with rice/noodles. Very light dishes that definitely won't make you feel stuffed. Gluten free and nut free options available.

Went there for dinner. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was nice. However, the food itself wasn’t really unique in any way. It wasn’t bad, it was good, but that’s it nothing more. The idea of the place is really nice but I hope they improve their food. It felt like stuff I could have easily done at home, and the prices were too much for the quantity and size. I ordered a sesame pudding and expected it would be the size of my palm at least, but it was so tiny like it was a sample. I would be interested to go back only if they improve their food quality and taste.

Coming with friends during weekdays evening with reservations, it’s suggested to be on time due to only 90mins per slot. The food quality is above average And there are different tapas available to choose. The restaurant environment was quite Japanese style that is good. As there is another booking after our slot, I am sorry but I did feel rushed to leave.

What a little delight we happened upon today, just 10 minutes walk from King's Cross en route to Clerkenwell. We had the lunch director specials, which comprised of a main and a side. My ramen broth was amazing and my daughter's rice and Japanese curry was spiced perfectly. I also had a cup of traditional tea, so warming.

Great vegan Japanese food. They didn't have any sushi available on the day we went, but they had apple ty other options. Chose the gyoza, tofu steak, scramble tofu, noodles and sesame putin for dessert. Drinks were asahi beer and sake. All very tasty! Make sure you reserve in advance as the place is busy!

A cosy little place with authentic Japanese food and everything was just just amazing! The yuzu mochi ice cream was the best! Vegan place but you won’t miss the meat for sure! The staff is very polite and friendly. And as I am finishing I recall the miso aubergine- dengaku! Another recommendation.

What an amazing place! Really delicious vegan food! Having been to Japan only a couple of months ago, this really reminded me of small and cosy restaurants there. It's a perfect place for a dinner date. Service was very friendly and efficient. Food is also well priced. Can't wait to be back again!!

Could potentially be one of the best Japanese restaurants in London in terms of value for money, let alone the best vegan restaurants (I’m not even vegan!) Every dish was full of flavour and cooked with passion, I’ve already recommended to several friends and family and I look forward to going back. The aubergine was incredible and some of the best kimchi I’ve tried!

The BEST japanese restaurant, and it’s all vegan! A small space with a cozy and calming atmosphere and the most delicious food. Everything we tried was really nice, but the dessert was the best of the best! Do not leave without trying the mochi ice cream, it is heavenly. Bring your non-vegan friends with you, they won’t regret it.

Prices have gone up, quality of food has gone down and service is not what it used to be. Add 10% to any expected bill as a service charge is now compulsory. Not the restaurant we all fell in love with.

Amazing authentic Japanese vegan food! A lot of options for small dishes to share and try. Prices are good for the area, and the food is amazing. The Miso Glazed Aubergine is a must!

Great food and friendly staff. The food comes in tapas so it was great to try different things and sharing them with everyone. My favourite ones were the sushi, the gyoza and the passion fruit mochi. I would definitely recommend to anyone, even the meat eaters from our great loved it!!

Had a great time with my friend! I ordered omakase course and my friend ordered the bento box and it truly didn’t disappoint! Had many different dishes and I especially enjoyed the tempura and ramen. I have also ordered a cold sake and came in a iced jar and iced small cup which was adorable and my friend seemed to enjoy her plum wine as she had a second and also ordered yuzu wine which she enjoyed as well. I had a sip and it was fruity and sweet and sooooo tasty! If I come again I would really want to try the yuzu gin tonic! The service was great and friendly. Would come again and recommend!!

Whoa. Vegan Japanese cuisine made right. The only problem we had was choosing what not to eat, because everything looks (and is) so damn delicious. These guys really know their stuff and the food is a shining example of this fact. This is a vegan must-visit in London.

Decent food with amazing service and nice atmosphere! The food was decent value considering the price point but not incredible. We ordered the karage, Agadashi aubergine and the miso aubergine for starters which were all good and I’d recommend. I ordered the ramen for mains which was slightly underwhelming as it just came with some noodles, carrots and little else. The service here is great and the staff were really warm, welcoming and happy to help. The restaurant has a nice ambience but is a little small and the tables are close enough together to hear the conversations of the people next to you. It can also get busy so I’d recommend booking in advance. The entire menu is vegan.

Not sure what to say but this is an amazing restaurant, I can see why it comes up on the list of best vegan restaurants in London. First about the location. Itadakizen is very easy to reach and it was easy to get there even without getting public transport from St Pancreas International. It is a small restaurant and fills up pretty fast, so I advise you to book a table. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The ambience is chill and cozy. The food... that's the best I've had in a restaurant for a long long time. Everything is vegan and they also have gluten free options. There are a lot of tapas type dishes so it is nice to share and try different dishes. We had the miso glazed egg plant...which was my favourite...perfect. Most restaurants make eggplants extremely oily and soggy, but this was perfect. The texture was moist and just right, the taste was amazing too 🤩😍🤩. We also loved the cucumber kimchi, and the sweet potato noodles. My hubby also tried some dishes that had gluten. He loved the tempura and the spring rolls. The spring rolls dough was very thin and looked very light and crunchy. The plum wine is also worth trying, sweet and refreshing. I did forget to take photos before as everything was so tasty, but the pic is matcha purrin, very light and refreshing. A perfect finishing touch for a meal. I strongly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return.

  • 4/5 Charlotte O. 8 months ago on Google • 69 reviews
The spring rolls are absolutely to die for. A must have. Possibly the best pastry I've had. The gyozas were a little plain for my taste, but the dipping sauce was nice. I had the chilli creamy ramen and it nice. The broth lacked a bit of depth for me. The noodle texture was great and I loved the mixed veg on top. I would go back! I liked this all vegan place. I went for the lunch menu, I'd like to go back for the dinner menu. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is lovely.

I had a delicious dinner with a friend at Itadakizen. It has been a while since I visited and the food has got even better. I love the array of tofu dishes and the fact dietary allergens (e.g gluten) can be catered for. Highly recommend the cucumber kimchi, aubergine and spicy ramen. The vegan yuzu mochi was delightful too and I thought it was all good value too for high quality food, great service and a nice ambience.

  • 4/5 H T. 3 months ago on Google • 16 reviews New
A nice find in terms of vegetarian food. The creamy spicy ramen I had came with flavorful vegetarian broth, nice chewy noodles. The broth exceeded my expectation (never tried vegetarian non-instant ramen before). I guess one area for improvement could be the toppings, which felt cold compared to hot broth and small in quantity + variety. Price was not too expensive, around 14 GBP after service charge, visit in Dec 2023. Service was okay.

  • 4/5 Ashley E. 6 months ago on Google • 16 reviews
Nicely decorated restaurant that’s small and cosy, limited tables so it doesn’t feel crowded. You definitely need to book ahead if dining at the weekend. Dishes were well presented and full of flavour. Highly recommend the miso aubergine and creamy Tonkotsu. Plates are small so you need to order around 5-7 for two people to share. Slightly on the pricier side, but typical for London. Dessert menu could be slightly more extensive as currently only mochi balls available (hence the 4 stars) Staff were friendly and attentive. The sour plum and yuzu drinks were good! Would recommend and return.

We came to Itadaki Zen to celebrate a birthday :) My birthday friend is vegan so we decided to of course come to an all vegan place and Itadaki was the best choice we ever made. The food was absolutely amazing, as well as the place. One of my friends and I are not vegan and we absolutely loved the food :D so did my vegan friend :D I definitely recommend it :) Small , stress free restaurant with amazing food! What else can you ask for ?

Food is great, nice, cozy atmosphere, lovely staff. Maybe a bit expensive for the amounts you get. Also they no longer have the sushi plate from some of the pictures in here—was really looking forward to trying that.

  • 4/5 Michael T. 1 year ago on Google
Super colourful vegan dishes in a tightly packed restaurant. The croquettes and oyster mushrooms are must picks, while the pickles and tempura sushi were also quite nice. The soup dumplings were quite bland unfortunately, and the drink selection is very limited for a tapas-style restaurant.

  • 5/5 Oak 1 year ago on Google
Wow! What an amazing little place. Great choice of vegan japanse food, the spicy ramen was the best ive had since going vegan. The homeade kimchi is something else having had to acoud kimchi for such a long time. If youre missing good Japanese food since going vegan this is the place for you.

  • 5/5 Cor C. 1 year ago on Google
Always a winner. I’ve come to this vegan Japanse place for over 7 years and it just never disappoints. It’s tiny inside but packs so much flavor in the dishes. One better than the next and don’t forget to order the desserts because they’re just delicious. We had all the time tofu starters, the eggplant (so good and tasty) the spicy and the regular ramen and the cheesecake and the mochi. Already planning my next evening at Itadaki, what a little gem!

back better than ever. You choose the 5 course menu or bento box when you book (either a 6pm or 8pm). We had the 5 course - and in a different location this food was so good I'd suspect it would have wait lists and hype to get in. Here there is nt that. just superbly good food, well thought out veggie flavours, tastes and textures. (And I'm not hyping here - its up there with some great places I was fortunate enough to visit in Japan). So, great food, unglamorous location (but easy to get to being near Kings Cross) and top marks for doing it own thing well. The dining room is plain, but spotlessly clean, and for the covid-concerned tables are well spaced.

  • 5/5 Ken S. 10 months ago on Google
It's a small restaurant but excellent food and service. I am not a vegan but went there with vegetarian friends. Plum wine aka (red) is sweet and taste like what I expected. I really enjoyed the dumplings, vegan ramen and the mushroom tempura. For me the miso soup, spring rolls and the green spring rolls are good but not excellent, slightly above average maybe. The edamame was great with wine and Asahi beer! All reasonably priced and good service, friendly when answering our questions about portion size. p.s. they don't do the sushi anymore!

  • 2/5 Lynn D. 3 years ago on Google
Had to order a set menu in advance ( dishes were not written) , when we received the food to the table the waiter didn’t mention any of the dishes and what we are going to eat ... food was OK but nothing special and quite pricey for what we ate...

This place makes amazing sushi, tempura, ramen, and other plant-based delights. The dessert is fab as well, with sesame, matcha, fresh fruit, etc. You can practically taste the energy and intention that the chef put into every bite.

  • 4/5 Samantha H. 11 months ago on Google
Lovely little place serving vegan / vegetarian Japanese food. We enjoyed it here. Only gave it 4 stars as the portions are small and it’s fairly pricey. I think if you go for the ramen options it’s better value.

  • 4/5 Mrs S. 11 months ago on Google
Really enjoyed the food! Seating is limited. We were forced to sit in a corner, even though we came early. Other spaces were available but they were reserved for others who came much later. We did book in advance as well, so not sure why they gave priority to other customers. Otherwise, great vegan food.

  • 4/5 Cindy W. 10 months ago on Google
Nice vegan Japanese restaurant in Kings Cross. Food is nice but small portions (mains). I liked the flavour of the curry and aubergine but found the ramen a little salty. The mains are reasonably priced but the starters are on the pricer side. Service is good, friendly staff. Found the restaurant a bit hot/stuffy and loud but still a nice atmosphere.

  • 2/5 Concon m. 3 years ago on Google
Came here for the Bento box 25£. The food was nice but was extremely overpriced. Also the restaurant was very grimey and unclean. I had a quick look in the kitchen and wished I hadn't. I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

  • 5/5 John B. 1 year ago on Google
The most filling and delicious Japanese food I've ever eaten. Such a small place that I'm surprised it's not packed every day! The tofu steak was marinated in a tasty sesame sauce and the spicy creamy ramen packed some heat without being too overwhelming for me. At £15 for a main and starter it's hard to beat.

  • 5/5 Laura S. 10 months ago on Google
Some of the best ramen I’ve ever had, inclusive of tonkatsu ramen made with real pork. I’ve been vegan for just over a year now and having lived in Seoul previously, I really missed a hot steaming bowl of tonkatsu ramen and this place well and truly delivered!! No wonder it was so packed when I went (Tues evening). Can’t wait to come back here next time I’m in London.

Our night here was gorgeous! I came here with a friend this evening. It was a very understated and modest restaurant. We weren't expecting the food and service to be so fantastic but it really was! Due to covid we had to preorder what kind of meal we were having so we went for the more expensive option and it did not disappoint. Sushi, ramen, tempura, and cheesecake made us so happy! Thank you! 🥰

We really enjoyed our dinner here, loved the many small dishes especially the croquette! Really lovely flavours! The yuzu gin was delicious! It also felt very safe and secure in terms of COVID (tables a good distances apart and lots of space etc.). Looking forward to returning!

Great food, cozy vibes, Itadakizen is a paradise for those who want to try Japanese food but with a vegetarian/vegan filter. Their spring rolls were amazing, tempura was crisp, mapo tofu was soft and juicy, tonkatsu ramen was yummy, and the passion fruit mochi was the perfect ending to a sumptuous meal.

(Translated by Google) I didn't find it so special now that you have to take the route; it is also a little bit expensive. You can now eat comparable foods at all the sushi chains in London that also have vegan options. But it was nice and the dessert was really great.

Small cute restaurant with a cafe vibe to it. The service was almost non existent. We had a booking and when we arrived, it took ages for someone to take us to our seats. Then took a long time to get someone's attention to take our order. Also took ages to get soneones attention to ask for the bill. The food itself was quite bland and small for the price.

A lot of choices for tapas but they're kinda similar to one another (lots of fried stuff). We ordered 6 differents, 2 were good and the others very average. I got very disappointed with the vegan gyoza, tastless. The service could be better, we were sitting at the far table in the back close to the food collection point and the whole evening the waitress was standing less than 1/2 meter away from our table. Very intrusive even thought she had no choice to stand there. Maybe they should even remove that table.

Great vegan food. Their omakase course was amazing. My favorit was tempura, and dessert !! I'm gonna try their take away for sure.
