Best time to visit is from 9 am. Entry fees Rs.90 for adults Rs.50 for Children They have made arrangements for visitors very well. There are many shades to take a rest doing this summer. The whole Zoo is about 8 to 9 kilometres and it is better to pick a bicycle for rent. the bicycles are available at the cost of Rs.30 per hour. It will take around 4 hrs roughly to cover the whole park. Water bottles juices and refreshment are available in between. Is better to have lunch outside the zoo as you will not get a proper lunch inside. So plan accordingly the best time to visit is between 9am to 1pm. Battery car is also an option. but they are very faster and you won't get to see all animals in the zoo. Charges 100 for adults and 50 for children.

Need more boards and details about each animal and bird for kids to understand about each species. Can have better sign boards. Good to see lot of women employees driving battery car. Can have better food stalls. Children’s park needs revamp. Overall, good job. But can improve in organising things better.

We as a family visited the zoo during the Pongal holidays. The zoo was crowded and they didn't operate the battery car. They were charging 200 rupees for entry fee which is very high compared to previous years. The park interior could have been better and there should be amenities for old people to rest. Overall it's a good experience apart from a few issues like parking and battery car operations. I would strongly suggest you to visit during weekdays to avoid crowds and peacefully spend some time in the park.

Rent a cycle, is highly recommended. Don’t think about walking. You will be exhausted. Overall it is decent zoom with many wild animals. Peacocks everywhere which is beautiful see. Here and there deer are roaming is lovely to see. Don’t think about negative reviews. If you are in Chennai and have kids bring them to this place, they will enjoy lot and witness the animals. Toilet facilities to be improved, it is typical one you could see, irrespective of government this toilet facilities remains same not upto the mark. Entry ticket is 200rs per adult and 50rs for kids.

Maintained well. Very clean & good services. Rest rooms can be improved. They also have ticket booking through online, so you need not wait in the queue during holidays. ( Tuesday- Holiday). Lots of trash cans are placed but still people throw the trashes on the ground. Can make strict rules & fine them. Vehicle safari & cycle facilities are really cool. Main canteen has good food ( Decent one). It's better to take parcel from canteen and have it inside zoo otherwise it's crowded.

Good place to spend one day with kids, enjoy walking around 5km. Best time to enter the park before 10am, take the lunch with you & sufficient waters. Ticket for Adults will be Rs.200 per head. Kids between 5 to 12 years Rs.50 per head Kids less than 5 years old is free. For kids, take the snacks it needs during the walking to rest time. Loin & deer’s safari are available, but it’s too much crowded during the festival time. Loin safari charge is Rs.150 per head. You have to wait in waiting area until the bus finish the first ride.

The zoo is so much fun! There are animals from all over, like lions, monkeys, and elephants. I loved watching them play and eat. The zookeepers are nice and tell you cool facts about the animals. They even have a petting area where there are some friendly animals. It's a big place, so wear comfy shoes. There's a kids play area too. Make sure to bring snacks because you'll be walking a lot. I had a blast at the zoo – it's a great place for families and friends. Definitely a thumbs up for a fun day out!

Visited on public holiday.. went there before 10am to avoid crowd..car parking was available at ease..in case of full car parking, near by facilities are there also along with shuttle service. Entry ticket 200 for adults.we didn't carry any disposable plastic items and hence was allowed without any restrictions. Lion Safari - Ticket cost @ 150 per adult Waiting time approx 30 min Safari time approx 30 min Saw 4 lions ( two male n two female)..2 were kept inside cage and two were out..along the safari route we were able to see some deers also. Battery Operated Vehicle - Ticket cost @ 150 per adult Waiting time approx 1 hr Vehicle will stop at 5 major places and total journey time would be 45 min to 1 hr. We saw Bengal 🐯, White 🐯, 🐆, 🐻, 🐊, 🦒, Chimpanzee, iguana, reptiles and snakes. Most of the animals look dull ( may b due to not being freely roamable). We took lunch along with us and ate there itself..after lunch we went to children park inside zoo and our kid enjoyed the slides. We left after that. Overall good family time spent with natural place and children enjoyed.

A huge park with excellent infra facilities and great collection of animals. Park opening time is 9.00 am and ticketing process was quick. There is facility to rent cycle once inside the park. Will definitely recommend this as park is quite big and walking can definitely tire you out. Morning times are better as there is huge area to cover and can get exhausting once the sun kicks in. All the animal enclosure are properly marked for easy navigation. Star of zoo is definitely: White tiger 🐯

It was a nice place to enjoy the whole day. Seemed a little costly at the beginning, but towards the end I felt it was worth the money. We took cycles and could roam round the park at our own pace. We spent an ample amount of time at each animal stop. At the end we went for the lion and deer safari which was a very nice experience for all of us especially for the kids.

Tickets prices are very high. Entry ticket for adults is rs-200 and for children's rs-50. For battery vehicle inside the zoo costs Rs-150 for each and safari for specialvisit to lion and deer costs Rs-150 per person. Apart from this nothing improved. I visited on 28/1/2024. Easy to access from railway station and bus stop., autos are there for transport. Timing till 5Pm. Entrance falls was awesome for family photos. Food shops are available inside the zoo at many places. Ice creams and snacks also Available. Kids will definitely enjoy. Cycles also available for rent inside the zoo.

Excellent place for a day out with family or friends. Since it is a popular venue and a complete open area, it is better to visit as early as possible mainly to avoid the crowds and skip the noon heat. Few Highlights worth mentioning Battery car/electric bike/bicycle rentals are few options to roam this 7+ KM path. This is really a good option for people and decently maintained. Drinking water station, rest rooms, food stalls at certain intervals are really good. Some complained on non digital payment but most of the shop are accepting digital payment, this is really nice. The price you pay for parking, zoo entry and transport mode is very reasonable and zoo maintenance by Gov. and dept. is worth the mention. This only downside during the visit is, depends on the day and temperature, animals hide under the hood and miss our sights. Overall a decent 3 to 4 hours time spent at ease and worth the visit.

We arrive by 9:30 on a Saturday morning. The route from Chennai to Vandalur was straightforward and easy. We couldn't take the battery operated vehicles since all got booked by schools which had come there. Therefore we took the Lion and Deer Safari bus, the safari was just okay, the good part was that we were able to see the lions from very close. Then we took bicycles and explored the zoo at our own pace. Overall good experience. We were able to see White Tiger, Royal Bengal Tiger, Bengal Tiger and another type of Tiger.

Good place to visit for kids, lion safari was a great experience. But the waiting was boaring. You can use buggy, or you can hire a bicycle to visit the zoo. Didn't feel Aquarium was worth watching. Rest watching the wild animals will be liked by the kids. It will be better if they have some drinking water facility at frequent places. Overall, it's good for kids and even for photography.

Zoo...every kid gets enthused about it. Decently maintained park. One can spend half a day here and if done leisurely a full day. Cycle, battery car will make your trip easier. But if you are young and energetic take the cycle or by walk. The big cat enclosures are heavily barricaded, which makes it difficult to have a good look. Kids will enjoy but have lots of water.

One of best hangout spot for kids and family, Lion and deer safari is closed now for Corona. Suggest to bring some outside food without any plastic materials and take a electric cycle or vehicle and go for a ride. You will definitely enjoy your time with kids.

Visited on Sunday 25-Feb-24, first time visiting this zoo. It's good, they are not charging anything for Camera, DSLR etc. But the entry ticket is Rs 200/- per person & Inside Electric Vehicle & Safari will be charged additionally. Zoo maintenance is good, but food is too costly. But as we are going with family or friends definitely we need to spend money for food & drinks.

Arignar Anna Zoological Park, named after the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, is the largest and oldest zoo in India. Spread over 16 sq.km, it is home to many wild animals like tigers, lions, monkeys, elephants, birds, etc., Due to Covid situation, visitors are checked for temperature and advised to sanitise their hands, which is a good sign. Some attractions like children's park and jungle safari are closed owing to covid. As on Sep 2021 entry ticket cost is Rs. 90 for adults and Rs. 50 for kids aged between 5 to 12 years. Various facilities like restroom, RO purified drinking water and refreshment stalls are available at many places inside the park. This zoo is best experienced on foot, where you get a chance to explore the entire park at your own pace and watch the animals in captivity. There are battery operated vans and bicycles, electric bicycles available at an additional cost for those who wish to quickly move around the park. Zoo has good amount of green cover with plenty of trees everywhere that provides respite from heat to visitors. Ample parking space for cars and other vehicles are available for reasonable charges. Overall a must visit attractions in Chennai. 👍🏼

A well maintained zoo. Good facilities. The entry fee is 75rs for adults, with an extra 25rs for phone... So basically 100rs. The lion Safari costs an extra 100rs. Cycles are also available for rent. A wide variety of animals to see. The enclosures outside were well maintained. Some of the enclosures inside like the wild cat enclosures were very poorly maintained. You can't enter it because of the stench. The reptile house was good. The aquarium was also good though the names of the fish were missing. Food is not allowed inside. A hotel serves food for the visitors inside. The quality of the food is okay for the price. All in all a very spacious zoo, better to rent a cycle because it's easier to cover ground. If you plan to visit in the hot weather, bring plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

We will spend great time with family in zoological park watching animals. There is another benifit we can walk a lot or do cycling which is good to health and mind relaxing with watching animals and trees. It's a good place for kids to learn and watch all kind of animals and birds in one place. They will enjoy a lot. If we are lucky we will get good view of lions, tigers. There are canteens, snacks shops, drinking water facility, toilet facilities available. We are not allowed to take plastic covers inside.

This is the best place to see animals up close, authorities have prepared the best facility for that. It is a very busy place. Vehicles can be parked here for a fee. Adequate parking facility is provided here but if it is crowded it will be difficult to park the vehicle. There are a lot of ticket counters here, but there is a big queue in front of all of them, around fifty people were in front of all the counters. The entry fee is Rs 90. For mobile camera ticket should be taken here. Please have change on hand otherwise you will not get the ticket. There is no UPI facility here. Payment can be made using debit or credit card. As soon as you enter, you will see a man-made waterfall. There is a shop here to buy zoo products. After entering, you can buy tickets and take electric vehicles or bicycles. It is very convenient. Only those who like to walk can do it because there is a lot to walk. There are shops inside to buy water but it will be very crowded. Free drinking water is provided here. Adequate toilet facilities are also provided. But not so good in terms of cleanliness. Here you can find almost all kinds of common birds and animals. Adequate size cages are also provided here. Bad trends here, 1. There are no signs indicating the exact routes. It often goes astray. 2. Electric vehicles honking their horns cause inconvenience to people and animals. 3. Plastic waste can be found all over the road. Do not leave plastic waste on the road, it is harmful to humans, animals and environment. Only those who want to walk well should walk, otherwise it will be difficult to see the whole zoo

I have been to Many Zoological parks in India, and this was by far the biggest and the most beautiful one. The highlight of this Zoo, is the natural habitat for the animals. All animals are given very large enclosure to roam freely and also are provided with natural habitat like atmosphere. The reptile, birds and Aquarium are added bliss to the entire experience. I saw rhinos in this Zoo for the first time in India. That too there were two healthy rhinos which was great to see. The staff are very courteous and helpful and willing to provide help if needed. Overall a great experience.

We went there the very next day to Dewali. Since we went around 10.00 AM there was no much crowd . So within 10 minutes we got the entry ticket and was raised to Rs.200 per person. Now the zoo is maintained very well . Strict checking is implemented and no polythene bags and use and throws are not permitted to use inside the Zoo, and the environment is very neat and clean. No unpleasant experience. Animals and birds are very nice. I highly recommend this place for a great picnic.

Firstly parking space is big. As we reached early there was not much queue. Rates are increased little but reasonable as they have to maintain a big Zoo. Mandated that plastic covers are not allowed inside. The food inside the zoo is not good, pack in steel boxes. Cycles and BOV are available to take rides and watch the animals but I preferred walking. Overall it's good watch

Best place for your kids and families to explore wild life. We have been there many times but this time we want to go for the safari ride. But before ride the waiting period during weekend is about 1 to 2 hours so be prepped for it. You will be able to experience the lion very near and the riders are good.

Excellent place to learn about different living organisms. But one full day will be required. Half day won't be enough for full sight seeing. One of the best zoo's in India. Food is not allowed inside the park. The cost is also very minimum. Rs. 90 for adult, Rs. 50 for children above 5 years. Free for children less than 5 years. If you are planning to visit this zoo do not give a second thought.

If you are bringing your friends that's fine but if you don't wanted better take cycle costs 30/hr or u can take e-vehicle that costs 90/hr and many more options available (battery car, safari drive)

AAZP or fondly called as Vandalur zoo by locals is very popular tourist attraction in city and especially kids will be excited to see those animals and birds. It's really big zoo of 1400+ acres south asia biggest infact, so plan for spending atleast half day. Its located in Vandalur on Chennai - Trichy Highway and is well connected from different parts of city by MTC Bus, local trains and Tambaram is nearest transport hub. Even you could plan for group outing in mini buses shouldn't be problem as well, as there is ample parking space and cost is cheaper as well. Zoo entry fee is about rs90 for adults and 50 kids 25-camera. Check website AAZP.in for complete ticket details. Even though it has good green canopy it will be hot in summer days so plan to start early or in evenings and wear light, loose cotton clothings. Getting around the zoo has multiple options like bicycle 🚴‍♀️, e-bike rental, battery vehicle tours or classic way is to walk around. Bicycle rental are really enjoyable ones and very convenient. Cycle rent is like rs30/hour. It would be more than 7km to cover all places, people who can't walk can use vechile tours (rs100/person). But remember vehicle tours is group activity they will cover only prime attractions in the zoo and you need to hurry up and stick to thier timings. Also zoo has decent facilities for visitors starting from free luggage lockers at entrance, wheel chair for disabled, toilets, purified drinking water at multiple places. There are mini pantrys at places in between to refresh with snacks🍟, icecreams🍦 and there is ttdc hotel as well. There are all sort of animals like Lion, tigers, leopard, elephant, rhino, hippo, chimps, giraffe etc. And lots of birds and repitle exhibits as well. And there is separate Lion and Deer safari you need to pay rs100 extra but is really worth There few other things too childrens park, aquarium, souvienir shop and small musuem inside the zoo. There are map boards at trail like one I attached in photos at multiple places. And it is handy on deciding places to visit and not to miss anything 😃 At the end it's all time well spent escaping citys daily hustle and good place to have family time out or walk at nature trail 👍Hit like if you find my review usefull

A really good and well maintained zoo. Best to go after the rainy season and in the morning when it's cool and pleasant. Plenty of restrooms, restaurants, and places to relax at key spots. It's best enjoyed walking, though it gets tiring. Next best way is via Bicycles that are available for a price. Stroller is advised if you are going with kids aged 5 or less, since the walks are real long.

The bird enclosures that begin with peacock, continue till the sulphur-crested cockatoo. All these enclosures are highly reinforced to make sure that no predators can enter the cages and harm the birds. Ample space is provided for these birds to fly around and exercise their wings. While this set-up is attractive on the entry side, there is also an aquatic birds enclosure, raptors and free bird park located at the exit. These are very huge enclosures and attract a lot of visitors as it has a unique set-up and interest children. The aquatic enclosure gives the feel of watching these birds in their natural habitat. “Every bird is kept in a different enclosure and a visitor needs ample patience to make sure that s/he visits all the species. Every bird has a unique nature and behaviour and the zoo helps in knowing about their behaviour” The enclosures are made in such a way that they have close resemblance to their natural habitat as much as possible. The terrestrial birds are kept on the ground and do not have high-rise fence as they cannot fly. On the other hand, there are the raptors that are kept in separate cages.

It was a really good experience and the zoo opens by 9 in the morning (make sure you pick a cycle). It takes time to reach every enclosure despite the maps kept around every corner. You can get lost easily, but it's worth it. The ticket price for an adult is 200 INR and that's pretty expensive compared to other tourist attractions.

The Zoo is spread across vast land area with every enclosure having ample space. There is a huge parking lot. The fees are nominal and there are discounts for Government school students. There are a variety of animals like the ones in the emoji ( 🐅🦁🐘🐍🦆🦜🦬🐟🐠🦍🐆🐢🐬🦓🦌🦏🦒🦚🦃🐊) and all of them are looked after well. It is always monitored and people can see the animals live telecasted in their official website. They also allow adoptions. The zoo is maintained well and is a good picnic spot for kids and family to spend a day. I have been here after almost 7-8 years and I see a lot of upgrades like the 🚲, 🚐. The buggy is also very good for people who cannot walk much and would still like to get a good tour of the Zoo. But my preference was walk which will take almost 3-4 hours and then 🚲. There are a lot of rest areas and food spots too which includes good drinking water as well. It is good to avoid plastic bottles or plastic items. Overall, a great spot to spend a day in Chennai.

We visited the place on the weekend. As per our expectation it was crowded. It is recommended to go early and get tickets online to avoid the rush. It is spread over a vast area. It took us 4 hours to cover the entire place on our feet. Of course we took few breathers. The overall experience was good.

Kids: Best Place for them. Do take Cycle/E-bike as the zoo is very big, and you will easily get tired in Hot weather. Plan your visit accordingly if you are going to spend shorter time, cover all important animals first'...or if it's a whole day trip..then you are free to go your own. Great Place..Must Visit

.. I have been here, thrice 1. With some guests for a quick visit 2. For Google Lpcal Guides Meet-up. 3. For a 2 days' Photo Shoot. My opinion: Worth Seeing - but, Nandankanan Zoological Park stands the best, Mysore Zoo is the second. Lion Safari in Bangalore is good. This Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Chennai Over-All opinion: .. It's worth 4 Star, if developed properly. .. Read reviews before planning to visiit .. Visibility of animals & Birds are poor due to the NETS; very closely kntted nets.

Good place to spend around 3 hours... We took the zoo rounds vehicle, which is charged 100rs per adult, 50rs per child. It will cover the important visiting spots within one hour .... As the zoo covers a vast area, we found this option quite effective... It will be a chaos otherwise to visit this place with 2 kids.. then we walked for another one hour to see the other animals near the entrance... The cycle option is also good..neatly maintained space... Somewhat neat toilet facility.... Enough water facility ..

Well maintained zoo, if u really wanted to experience the zoo with u bowl of time ,I personally recommend to go for cycle option so that as per ur convenience the time is spend as your interest. We opted for buggy option where the driver was good with great knowledge of wildlife but I felt he was in bit rush. But to be honest great zoo with high maintenance. Lot of staff to maintain it.. Great value for money. Must go!!

A great place to spend some time away from the city, the govt is maintaining this place really well, you can choose to hire a cycle (normal or electric) and go around the zoo, it's very clean and staff are very kind and answer all your queries. So happy to see so many tigers now, there are new enclosures which give us access to see them from a very close range. Definitely a must visit if you haven't visited yet.

One of the coolest weekend getaway for people who are residing in Chennai. This zoo has a large coverage area because of which completing this whole zoo within 2-3 hours is bit tough, unless you take e- cycle available there. The entry fee is Rs.90 and mobile camera fee is Rs.25 so ideally for a person it is Rs.115. In case you are taking camera the prices starts from Rs.250 for DSLR. The inbuilt roads and maintenance are quite good. The animals are provided with large space to wander. You will find almost all the animals here ranging from lion, tiger, leopard, bear even giraffe, zebra. As the total circumference of this place is quite huge it's better to take the cycle available inside to cover up places. There are food stalls available around the zoo, but reaching one point to another might take sometime. It's recommended to carry a water bottle with you and if you come as family you can take some light snacks to dodge the hunger. There are deer, lion safari also available which again costs a different price, these can be checked in the entrance. It's a must visit travel destination if you want a weekend getaway.

One of the best zoos in India for all kinds of animal lovers. The zoo has all three: wildlife, birds and reptiles and a visit is worth your money and time that you spend. The area is huge and you should definitely take a electric vehicle (available for extra money) for sightseeing as the animal exhibits are far from each other. Your visit will definitely take an entire day buy if you have kids in your group, they will thoroughly enjoy. There are various snack bars on the way for refreshing yourselves.

Zoo timing is 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. I enjoyed a lot in zoo. I have done bicycling also. You can get water bottle in between ways. There are food restaurants inside the zoo for meal and snacks. Watched all animals and took photos and videos.

A nice chill out place near Chennai. We can see Most of the animals and birds. They maintain the place as green as possible. Elders can get electric vehicles to look around the zoo. Youngsters can rent a bicycle ?. You will get snacks and other refreshments at a reasonable price inside the zoo. During popular holidays crowd will be more , need proper planning . They allow home food inside the zoo. Car parking is near 1.5 km distance. Which means you need to take auto and come to zoo and vice versa . Overall good place for nature lovers .

Great Work by government. Reasonable price. Remember, 1. Children's park, 2. Aquarium, 3. Snake park are closed due to corona. If you are young gang, then go for bicycle trip. Else use battery car trip. Battery car trip is hardly 1 to 1.5 hours. They allow you to see and take photos and come back. If you delay then you won't get time to see Giraffe and Zebra which are at last. Do not miss Lion and Deer safari if you can afford. But parking is nonsense. Same way to exit and they can't open the door well. Worst maintenance on parking. They simply collect the money. No use of people working in parking.

Good place for spending time with fanily and friends. It's best if you go on winter seasons as you'd get exhausted during summer season. Cycles are also available for renting at affordable prices. Adult cycle rent is ₹35/- per hour. Electric cycle is ₹90/- per hour. Refundable deposit amount is 200. Tandem cycles are not available.

Great place to visit if you are animal lover. Bring in empty water bottle with you, RO water points are available inside the park. Best way to view the park is to take the electric vehicle which saves you a lot of time and cover the entire zoo.

One is the best Zoo in India. There are many things to say about this Zoo. 1. This Zoo has a huge range of animals in it. 2. The area is very huge, needs atleast an entire day to view all the animals, it's best to take a cycle, Elders and children can use the battery car service, others can walk if they want/can. 3. 90rs. per adult, 50rs per child and mandatory to buy tickets for mobile 25rs per mobile. 4. Outside food strictly are allowed only in stainless boxes and reusable plastics, but not in use and throw containers. 5. The Zoo has a restaurant inside. 6. There is also a milk and an icecream parlour inside. 7. Car parking available

    1. Tuesday Holiday. 2. Huge crowded in weekends. 3. It will take one day if you are exploring the zoo by walk. 4. Entrance fees also should be paid for kids having above five year. 5. Fee is applicable for Mobile camera also. Rs. 25 per Mobile having camera. 6. Battery vehicle and cycle is available inside to explore the Zoo. 7. Small restaurants are present inside the Zoo. Little expensive than outside restaurants. 8. Free drinking RO / Normal water available. 9. Free Toilets are present inside the Zoo. 10. For elders, better to choose vehicle rather walk to explore the Zoo. 11. Recommended to bring food from home and have it. Sometimes(Might be week days) food items are not allowed inside the Zoo. 12. When we visited the Zoo, Lions and Tiger's are not available. 13. We saw Peacock, Monkey, crocodile, Giraffe, Snakes, Panther, various Parrots, Elephants etc.. 14. There is no amazing or Marvellous animals(Lions, Tigers etc...) inside the Zoo.

The zoo is good and huge. I recommend you get an e-bike or the electric car tour as it is the easiest way to navigate the zoo during hot afternoon/evening times. There are a lot of animals here and it will take you 2-3 hours for exploring the entire place but it's worth it. The tigers lions elephants and so many snakes alligators birds. Everything is fascinating to see. If you are in Chennai and you have a day to spare you can definitely visit this place with family or friends.

The walk around the zoo will only be cheerful if you go along with good companions otherwise better take a bicycle cause half of the animal displays are empty. But peacocks and deer will be freely roaming around you.. Don't carry any food items in plastic bags. There are few shops inside the zoo that serve good snacks and drinks.

One of the zoological parks in India is the Arignar Anna Zoological Park, located in Vandalur. I was excited to see animals, birds, etc. We went with our family on the weekend. Parking is available for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. For two-wheelers, it's Rs. 15 per vehicle, and the entry ticket for adults is Rs. 90 per person. Inside, there is a beautiful waterfall located after the ticket checking counter. You can also find vehicles inside that you can drive. There is a toy shop and restaurants available. We spent more than two hours exploring on foot and saw several species, including animals, birds, reptiles, snakes, fishes, etc. Overall, the experience was both good and bad. Drawbacks: The park is quite large in area, so it's better to choose vehicles inside to see more animals. Inside, there are several empty spaces in cages where there are no animals, which can slow down your walk and limit the number of animals you see. Otherwise, it's a good experience with beautiful places and well-maintained facilities.

The fee is reasonable and animals are maintained well. The folks who take care of animals are very nice and love them. I loved the fact the zoo is very environment friendly. They make sure people don’t litter and the zoo is plastic free. The bad stuff - Some cleaning staff are very unhelpful and rude. Asking them questions ends up with them giving a snarky reply. - the battery operated vehicles were not operational so we ended up taking the lion safari. They pack about 30 people in a small dingy bus which is very uncomfortable. The buses themselves are nasty. - not too many eatery places and the ones that are open don’t have half the menu available. Overall poor experience! I wish some private firm would step in and modernize this beautiful zoo that has so much potential.

Place where kids enjoys and excited seeing animals in this zoo. Lion Safari, Deer Safari and zoo roundup battery operated vehicles are really great services. There could be little wait time for Safari, better to start early for the Safari then you can conveniently roam around the zoo. Better to get zoo roundup pass while you are buying entrance ticket. Exo friendly battery bikes (cycles) are really good services by administration. Be prepared for a long hours of walking, at the end kids play area (park) with many games are there. Worth spending family time here .

Maintenance is good, Ample parking place, I felt snakes are reduced when I compared to the one which I visited 8months back. Overall good place to visit. 'Battery Operated Vehicles' are not available if you are going after post lunch - This can be improved. I strongly recommend don't take rented bicycles, which cost 30/- per hour, not at all in good condition. Not even single bicycle is in good condition(Main problem we faced is bicycle seat is not fixed, brakes are not working, Pedals are too hard to push,Handles are not good). If you missed to do exercise then you can go for rented bicycle am not sure about the condition of a battery bicycle. - Strongly requested this must be improved.

Very Bad Maintenance. No Proper Parking arrangements. Was made to park near Cresent College gate and walk all the way back. No Proper guidance or route map to go around. There are many pay and use toilet but cleanliness is zero. No token, don't know who is earning out of this. Outside food not allowed to protect environment. People are trying to follow that, but are the Shop inside the park following that. So called Maintenance guys roam around the park on their bikes cursing the visitors to give way. Are they given special permission to ride their bikes on the walk path. And what happens to the environment pollution because of their air polluting bikes. Either they can be given electric vehicles or bicycles (healthy for them too) This is the second time i am visiting this park. Once during my childhood when there were no proper walk paths even then we enjoyed the calmness and serenity. But now, with all types of fundings nothing is enjoyable. Had taken my Kid wanted who wanted to see the butterfly park. Butterfly park area was filled with only one butterfly. Atleast there were some good number of butterflies near the otteri lake area. Even the name engraved of Ex-Chief Miniter who worked to revive the park is damaged and none to care about it. Would this have been the situation if she was alive. Government officials please wake up before it's too late.

The prices for tickets can be reduced a little. It's higher than what it should be. Customers need to pay for tickets, then vehicles , then for phones , then for bicycles. Come on , it becomes expensive, reduce it . They can add some adventure games to the park. Please bring more animals and birds please. Please bring 5D cinema for nature and wildlife short movies. Please change the restaurant contract, the food is not upto the mark and prices are extremely high. We paid 300 Rs for 1 plate noodles and chicken 65. Actually we got served half plate noodles and 4 pieces of chicken 65. I have shared picture too please see. PLEASE PANALISE PEOPLE FOR THROWING PLASTIC BOTTLES HERE AND THERE 🙏

The Caterpillar design of the park, which is a tube-like structure of 60-ft.-long and made of acrylic sheets, is said to be heat resistant. The location of the butterfly park inside the zoo campus is near Otteri, a water body that will help maintain the temperature suitable for the butterflies. The larval and adult host plants already are planted at this site, which is a landscaped habitat. The park will also have full-fledged nectar gardens, a walkway, breeding and rearing centres and rock gardens in due course. Now, here is another spot in Chennai, to take your guests during the holidays!

It used to be nice zoo with lot of animals..but now number of animals are less and also it does not look like forest only....not at all dense...looks very dry...and many animals are single...which makes it very difficult for them... Decent space for parking available for car and bike. Ticket rates are decent. They have facilities for battery car, bicycle and electric bicycle also which is good. The main problem is that they have don't have decent food court inside. 2 are available close to entrance and one small one in the middle which is defenetily not sufficient. This they should improve. Place is clean and maintained. Giving 4 stars as alot needs to improve and people teasing animals should be punished.

Its amazing place to spend time with family and kids. It has lot of wild animals which are maintained very well. The zoo is very well connected with bus and train from Chennai. The entry charges is also affordable. if we have kids and elderly people's then its best to rent a cycle or a battery car to visit all places because it's a very big zoo. For lion and deer safari they charge 100 rs per adult. It will give an amazing experience watching lion so closely.

It is one of the famous tourist spot in Chennai also it is the worst zoo. There is no much varieties of animals,Most of the zoo are common bird and animals like deer etc. the animals are thin and tired look like they are not feeding properly, small cages not properly cleaned,no good water source for drink and bath.We can’t see animals properly that’s the way they are constructed the grills.animals like zebra tiger giraffe rhino etc are babies also they don’t even have a pair. the animals and birds are suffering a lot.It may take 2-3 hours to complete the zoo in my opinion it’s waste of time and money they even charges for mobile camera.it is not worth. Ticket price Adults-90 Children -50 Camera-25 Lion and deer safari Adults-100 Children-60

Very good for Children and all ages of family members to enjoy as a picnic tour . It is like beautiful park with lots of animals. Particularly the tigers are very good and many others. From the entrance car parking and inside total Zoo is very nicely maintenance and higher cleanliness. There are nice walk through roadside payvements and trees. There are many electrical 20 members traveling vehicles which will show you most of the park and animals quickly and later you can see more and more through walk

It's the largest zoo in India. It consists of lions and deers safari and all kinds of animals, reptiles, birds and mammals. The best time to visit the place is in the winter season. One bad thing is that you will be charged for mobiles and cameras. The best thing is that you will get different types of bicycles and bikes on chargeable basis to roam the zoo. I really enjoyed it and took lots of photos.

It's one of the best zoological park that I've ever visited. It's really huge zoo and so are bicycles provided there are electrically driven and normal bicycle. The cost of electrically driven bicycle are ₹100/hour and ₹30/hour for normal bicycle (both genders varients are available), also there's wheel chair also available. Please, check my contributions to know more about the entry fees of the zoo . I have also added the map of the zoo in which you can find all the animal's which are in zoo.

Good for a day visit. Very long path. Recommend to rent cycle or e-cycle. Took around 3 hours using e-cycle. To visit rare and wild animals, may be we can stroll through the opposite route. Nice to see wild animals like Zebra, Giraffe, White Tiger, Hippo, Rhino, etc. Roads were clean and neat. RO water installed at regular interval.

Zoo is well maintained. We can see a wide range of birds, animals, reptiles, snakes and Fish. Very big zoo. It's nearly 8km long. We can rent a bicycle, that will be easy to cover the zoo. Inside the zoo, it has a Butterfly park. We can see different types of butterflies. It also has a small park for kids to play. It also has safari vehicle facility. There are many food courts. The best time to visit is in the morning. We can spend a whole day here. Entry ticket: Adult : 90 Children: 50

Nice place to visit for spending more than half day.Everyone can enjoy the atmosphere, area is neat and clean. Large area with average number of animals , so you need to walk some distance to reach each cage. Plastic and outside food items are restricted inside zoo.Tea and snacks shops are there at certain points.A well renovated restaurant is situated at the entry point. Parking facility is available with a fee of ₹40 for four hours and ₹10 for additional hours. Battery operated cars and lion safari buses are also available but they wont cover the entire area. There is an option for rent cycle also.

Great place to spend time with your family and you can find a wide variety of spices. There is a special house for reptiles and an aqua family. You stay inside the zoo as long as you want till evening 5:30pm. There are also a few food stalls inside the zoo and you can also carry your own food but plastic is not allowed inside the zoo. Don't miss to visit the chimpanzee ( chimp ) family.

White tiger, deer, vareity of snakes, bear, Panther, elephant, especially we saw atleast three variety of monkeys. We had electric cycle there for tickets and visit. Unforgettable moments in museum also. Had snacks and cold drinks. Lots of fun and informative for kids. But the butterfly garden is not maintained well.

Wonderful place for kids. We have walked the zoo instead of taking a battery car. It was good with walking around a pleasant green forest. There are plenty of points for purified drinking water and toilets. Foods or restaurant inside the zoo is not available. Only one area serves variety rice. Many shops are available which offers only samosa, bread omlette, french fries, pav bhaji kind of items. One restaurant is only available that too at the entrance only.

Mind-blowing! Very neatly maintained throughout. Lots and lots of animals to look around. I could get a very close view of royal Bengal tiger, leopard, wild dog, hyena, snakes, crocodiles. The birds section is just too amazing to describe in words! You should visit and experience it yourself. I went to New York Bronx zoo few years ago and I would say this is no less to that!

An attractive place for family recreation, specially with kids. Winter will be better season. For moving around the best option is hiring an electric bi-cycle, otherwise there is electric vehicle having capacity to accomodate 12 to 15 tourist. Park opens by 9AM and closes by 5PM, better have breakfast in outskirts. They have increased the entrance fee from 95 to 200rs per person (adult). For kids from age 5 to 12 they charge 50 rupees. It's free for kids below 5,. They have resumed Lion safari from 2nd Oct onwards, after 3 years ( due to COVID), they charge 110rupees per person (including kids from 5-12). Cycles are available for rent, 35rs per hour. ( in notice board, they have mentioned 30rs, but they will collect 35rs). They won't give cycles for kids below age 15. We have to ride doubles for kids in the back seat. There are lot of snacks counters available, but lunch or tiffen options are very less. They charge 150rs for parking, space is good, but it's open parking. Restrooms could have been maintained in a better way.

Good place to spend time with your family for the day. Tickets can be booked online. Keep food and snacks in biodegradable packets like paper bags. They check our bags before getting in. They won't allow cover/no biodegradable things. Bike and car parking are available without issue. Drinking water is also there. They have a small shop inside for snacks, while around. Tiger Safari, I missed due to the overcrowding. We have to pay separately, if interested please go as early as possible.

Arignar Anna Zoological Park also known as the Vandalur Zoo, is a zoological garden located in Vandalur, is in the southwestern part of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, about 31 kilometres from the Chennai Central and 15 kilometres from Chennai Airport. Established in 1855, it is the first public zoo in India. It is affiliated with the Central Zoo Authority of India. Spread over an area of 602 hectares, including a 92.45-hectare rescue and rehabilitation centre, the park is the largest zoological park in India. The zoo houses 2,553 species of flora and fauna across 1,265 acres. As of 2012 the park houses around 1,500 wild species, including 46 endangered species, in its 160 enclosures. As of 2010, there were about 47 species of mammals, 63 species of birds, 31 species of reptiles, 5 species of amphibians, 28 species of fishes, and 10 species of insects in the park. The park, with an objective to be a repository of the state's fauna, is credited with being the second wildlife sanctuary in Tamil Nadu after Mudumalai National Park.

It is a well maintained zoo with quite a good number of animals, reptiles and birds. You have battery buggies and bicycles you can rent if you can't cover the park by walking. You'll need a whole day if you wanted to cover this zoo at a leisurely pace. There is a scenic lake opened for viewers recently in the park closer to the entrance. It is pleasant in the evenings and never know there was a lake in the zoo in all these years. Ideal time to visit is Dec, Jan and Feb when the vegetation is green and the weather is pleasant.

After pandemic review: Have to wear mask and marks available for social distance. They have all the facilities like cycles, van etc. Buy a water bottle initially.. or else you would regret. Ticket price as per Jan 2021: ₹90 for adults and ₹25 for mobile phones. They are asking whether do we have mobile phones. In that case just tell them that you kept your mobile phones inside your vehicle and you are not carrying them, in order to avoid paying for this scam. They wont check at the enterance. You can complete every animal in 3 hours. Better to take a bicycle. Very clean and you are not allowed to carry outside food inside. Inside food is below average and prices are like gold's. Will be closed by 5.30 pm.

First time in our visit history to Vandaloor Zoo we got parking in the entrance parking itself even though we reached by 12 noon on a Saturday, crowd was too less to the normal rush. We were able to cover the whole zoo in 4 hours, one of the best vist so far, we went on the right season other visits were on hot and humid climate. First time tried the safari but was not that great as only one lioness was on free outside cage lying on road, others were on cage itself. My expectation on safari did not met. There were enough bi cycles for those who need it, I would suggest to rent one as otherwise you will have walk a lot to cover whole zoo, battery vehicle is another option but you will be clubbed with other visitors. If you plan to visit do it quickly before the hot Chennai is back

Well maintained park in this pandemic situation lots of automatic sanitizer and social distancing circle for each view point. Battery operated car and battery cycle available for comes around the zoo premises. Normal diesal bus available for Lion safari and Tiger safari. Normal bicycle is available with baby carrier. So easily we can cover the zoo as per our requirement. Online entry tickets available in the official website. Fare adult - 90 INR Child (0 - 5 ) - Free Child ( 6 - 18 ) - 50 INR Camera other than DLSR - 20 INR Animal and birds are so active. Specially hippopotamus and white tiger family. Worth to visit on some cool days if it's so sunny means really we will be so tired.

We'll maintained, clean too. I wish they allow the electric cart (car) only for the elderly, physically challenged or mother's with little babies.. I saw many youth take the electric car hence the waiting queue and time was long. The zoo needs to improve this aspect, making sure the electric car is used for those who are unable to walk or ride cycle around the zoo. We had a good time with family!

Very very less reptiles. Other zoos across the country has plenty reptile class even if they don't have enough other mammals/birds. Shocking thing is Vandulur does not even have a King cobra which can be seen in many other zoos. You can spot some Python variants, Rat snakes, Indian cobra, Russell's viper and green wine snakes. That's it !. Very disappointed with the scanty display. Other zoos have Green Anaconda, King Cobra, water snakes and Burmese python too.

Wonderful day in the zoo with my family. Check the weather if it is cloudy then your day is luck. Go early around 9AM to have a good view of birds and animals. First thing you must visit safari don't worry about the ticket cost it's worth it then once you comeback from safari best thing is take bicycle and enjoy the day. It might take 4 hours to enjoy everything. You will like it have good fun.

Excellent cleanliness. We can see plenty of passenger movement. Busy throughout the day and quite safe for elders and unaccompanied women. Chennai beach station has one of the greatest viewpoints in the city. The overbridge linking the platforms and outside road and it gives a splendid view of the city, especially to harbor view. Chennai harbor which is one of the biggest in the world. The harbor is unique in the fact that it is situated in the heart of the city. Well connected station, one can get trains to almost all part of the Chennai. The famous Burma bazaar is situated just outside of the station. Auto stand and bus stand is situated just outside of the station.

1)It was really good but during these covid times many things inside the park was closed like snake park, aquarium etc. 2) I would recommend you to take a bicycle after you enter the zoo because the zoo is very big and houses all the animals which you see in the discovery channel. 3) Houses all the animals and deer roams freely in the zoo 4) Very nice place if you are looking for some peaceful time within the city Cons: 1)No card or paytm is accepted inside the zoo for taking the bicycle so we had to go all by our foot and it was really tiring because zoo is very big to explore so we had to skip some of the animals. 2) Lion enclosure should be also made available to public without charging for the lion safari because no zoo in India does that i.e. charging extra for lion safari 3) charging for mobile phone is also not a good idea because again no zoo in India charges for the mobile phone

Biggest Wild Animals Zoo of South-India. You can witness White Tiger Family, Indian Lions, Bengal Tigers, Elephant etc. You can go for Lion Saffari & Deer Saffari inside the forest. You can enjoy Butterfly Garden, Aquarium, Snake Park, range of Birds, Monkeys etc. You can have a pleasant view of Ottari Lake. You can hire a Bicycle or hire an Electric Vehicle to visit all places especially for elderly people. It has Children Park for kids but it is closed amid COVID. Take your family and children to have a very nice 1 day picnic. Very good place to enjoy with your family and friends.

Nice place to hangout. Well maintained. Car parking is limited. Fees are ok. 90 rs for entrance, 100 each for zoo safari and lion and deer safari. Cycle available, or for maximum enjoyment you can walk around. In lion safari you can see lion very closely, safely in covered vehicles. In zoo safari they will take you in open type battery cars and have stops at many places, where you can get down and see animals for 5 mins. Food court, snacks counter , aavin counter etc available. Staff are mostly supportive.

Actually it was suddenly planned just visited Lion safari and take a electro transit van which is 15 or 8 seater. About Lion safari it was 100Rs which is worth sure you will enjoy a lot. About the electro transit its fully waste of money just 4 or 5 stops and we have to climb small hill where transit will not go and you have to wait for a long time to get a electro transit. We have to sit in a line where previously purchased are there. This happens a couple of weeks before. Some are closed due to corona.

Everyone should go at least once who all in chennai. Best place to go with family. Plan for 1st time travelers 1.go earlier. Best to go at 9 am morning 2.food is not allowed inside. Even you can bypass the check point I did not face any issues. 3.you can buy the food inside. The price and taste is good and reasonable. 4.get cycle or other vehicle who all not compatible for long walks. Because very long distance to go. Please don't throw any garbage inside, it's our responsibility.

Don't go by afternoon it's impossible to see them. It's really a big one so if you are elder take battery car so you may enjoy as well. If you are an adult can walk you can walk and explore this place. Ticket price is reasonable so go and enjoy.

As a reviewer, I am very much proud to write this review especially since the management of Zoo is best at all the standards. Right from the start point to the end, everything is perfect. I visited the place on Saturday, Zoo is full of rush no place to park the vehicle and parked the vehicle(Car) side of the wall(please go with minimum luggage/avoid keeping or carrying valuable things in the car) Pros:- >Lengthy Queue in the lion safari boarding counter, but staffs are efficient to manage it properly and mainly its fast-moving crowd. >Adequate Dustbins are placed. >Shelters and Park sofas are available at every 10-50mtrs. >Feeding rooms are available. >Cycling, Pram and electric vehicles. Cons:- >Restroom cleanliness is? >Cycle billing at least take 45min-1hr at the weekend.

Nowadays we can't see more animals roaming most of the time in sleep mode or rest mode. Inside so many places there to sit and visit also van and battery car service they providing to visit all over zoo. It will be done in one and half hour. It's an extremely huge zoological park. We reached there around 3pm and the animal zoo closes at 5pm. So we had no other option except to take the battery car. It is a really nice option when the time is less or you cannot walk long distances. The parking charges for a car are around 40/- and the ticket for entry of each person is 90/-. There is also the option of safari available for those who want to explore the forest to find some lions and elephants in close proximity. Plan accordingly as the safari in itself takes more than an hour.

  • 4/5 Deepak K. 3 years ago on Google
This is one of the best zoological parks in India. Before planning a visit, make sure atleast 4-5 hours are kept aside to completely enjoy the full zoo since this is really vast. There is an entrance fee of Rs. 90 per head for adult and 50 per head for childrens, Rs. 25 for camera mobiles/ipods. Car parking fee is Rs. 35 for 4 hrs if it exceeds 10Rs for per hour and ample space is available for parking. Once inside, there are different options to roam around. One is to walk around the zoo which should be done at a slow and relaxed pace, since you have to walk a lot. Other option is to hire a bicycle, which they have many and costs just Rs.10 per hour for starting range and which I consider the best option, if you don't have small kids. Other alternative is to take an open electric van, which costs Rs. 90 per head. It will take you around the zoo in one hour. If you want to travel inside alone with your family, you can book the full electric van for Rs.400. Now regarding the inmates, the zoo has a very good collection of animals and birds. A wide variety of monkeys and birds are there besides other animals. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the place. Make sure to carry sufficient drinking water with you. Some snack bars are there inside, but the menu is extremely limited or there may be nothing of your choice at all. Weekends are bit crowded and noisy, so a weekday is better to visit the zoo.

If you like animals , you will 100% love this place , i entered at 9:30a.m and left at 3:00p.m . All the animal enclosures are well maintained and spacious. Its not like other india zoo where animal are kept in small iron cage , you can see spotted deer and peacocks roaming freely . Water and benches are adequate , fee looks bit high 90/- for adult but its worth every rupee . Jungle safari (lion and deer safari is also nice) , lion cage is hardly visible on foot ,so if you want to see KING take safari . TIPS 1.Dont take electric vehical tour unless you have very less time , you can get a bicycle at rent in zoo instead. 2.Carry your food. (I didnt try any food from shop, so i cant recommend . 3. Download "VANDALUR ZOO" app , it will be surely helpful. 4.If you are at chennai get a train from "chennai egmore" to Tambaram , then take bus . 5. A free Cloakroom is also available.

Good big place :). If you have energy to walk walk walk then come by walk.. It would be better if we have proper zoo Map provided in.. and would be better if we have sign board or path direction painted inside.. because it's very tough without direction painted or map it is extremely tough to spend time.. and Rest room smell is coming outside side... really we can save time if we have proper direction materials else we have to check by walking many kilometers inside and you will be tired... best time to visit may be October to February we can enjoy very cool.. Battery car, van for lion safari and cycles are also available based charge they apply... I liked birds collections a lot but you have to see from distance :) If you have kids below 3 to 4 years it won't be that good to enjoy because you have to carry them because its bigggggg place... :) especially in summer season no..

Cycle safari is the best part. Get cycles for hourly rent and enjoy ride with your beloved ones. Even inside the park, food and water is available. For people who don't go well with cycles, electric vehicles and bus service also available. Animals all look healthy and thus the entire trip will be off happy mood.

  • 4/5 Nave 3 years ago on Google
Key things while you visit there. 1. Keep your cash in hand. Cards won’t work. 2. Don’t bring outside food 3. Don’t tease animals. 4. Don’t feed them. 5. Don’t litter. Food: 1.One restaurant is there at the entrance of the zoo, food was not bad, but not good as well. Low quantity. 2. In middle of the zoo there is small cafeteria that’s good. You can have something there and go out and eat rather than eating in restaurant inside the entrance. Cycle: There few selections in cycle: 1. Battery cycle: 90/hr : Deposit 500/ cycle 2. Adult dlx cycle: 30/h : Deposit 200/ cycle Ps: if you give 1000 for 4 cycle they won’t give 200 back instead they will keep all 1000 rs . But it will be back after the cycle charges. Apart from this: lion safari is there. A best place to hangout with kids for whole day.

What I love to see here is the White tiger and their cubs, which is so precious in our biodiversity. Conserving them is essential. In fact, the services and cleanliness is excellent inside the zoo. It's a fun place to go with friends or as a family, as it is a very large zoo they offer bicycle rentals (normal ,tandem and electric)which makes the experience much more easier. It would be wise to go early as the cycles get rented very fast, going in July to feb is recommended as it gets very hot in the summer season and the heat might get unbearable. Lion and deer safaris are offered and the food at the restaurant inside is pretty good

Especially we saw all the animals like tigers, white tigers, lion, elephant, hippopotamus, rhinoceros, giraffe, snakes, bison, ostrich, bear, fox, Hyena, deer, Squirrel monkey, crocodile, alligator, chimpanzee, various birds, and so on. Must visit place if you are near by this. You can spend more than 4hours in the zoo. You can take electric cycle, cycle, or electric car.

  • 5/5 Chandy K. 2 years ago on Google
Apart from the exit everything else was really nice. Well placed dustbins near food centers, parking facilities are very nice too they charge (4 wheeler) around ₹40 for 2 hours and ₹10 for subsequent hours. Bicycle facilities at affordable rates, clean roads and routes, well drawn maps that explain the location of different species and how to reach them. They facilities of Electric vehicles is also available with upto 5-10 people for elderly or PWD. I don't know the cost for this facility. Clean habitats for the animals and from the looks of it they were taken well care off and content in there :) Except this one zebra which looked kind of lonely :(

Located on main road. But car parking entrance is on the side road. Entrance ticket can be bought easily from various counter. We can walk or rent a cycle or travel in battery vehicle. All are chargeable. Food, snacks, drinks and rest room are available in some places. Zoo roads are clean and neat. May be feeding of animal on chargeable basis would attack kids. Some countries are practicing it. It generate more revenue to zoo.

It's a huge park.. lot of space and options for cycle and electric cycle are available.. maintenance is clean.. but I dunno if it's because of covid.. we can witness only 1 or 2 animals and they are even looking tired.. But if you plan as a family trip to walk and have fun.. this is a good place.. Food.. limited option only.. but we can bring our own food and share the food.. it's one picnic kind experience.

Best place to visit for all age groups. Clean and tidy. Maintenance is awesome. Toilets are everywhere which are clean and functional. The zoo has drinking water facility every 200m. Battery vehicle and bicycles are available for rent. We couldn't get battery vehicle as there were many people waiting already. We went on 30.12.21 that day both children's play area and lion safari were closed because of COVID protocol. They don't allow snacks in plastic covers or bags. There are many snack shop inside the zoo like tantea, sandwich etc, near the entrance there is a restaurant which serves both veg and non veg. U can see different kinds of birds, monkeys, white and Bengal tigers, lion, elephant, giraffe, wolf, bear, hyena, deer, fox, cheetah, crocodile, hippo, rhino, king cobra etc As of Dec, 2021 Adult - 95 Camera mobile - 25 Battery vehicle - 100 each

Very good experience for children and Family to spend educational day! We planned to start as early as Park opens to avoid crowd and to cover most of animal before peak sun on winter season. It worked well and I (Family) really enjoy being here after long years. Battery operated car really saves your energy and gives feeling covering most of animal in short span. However we realized, should have tried rental Cycle - sure will visit soon. Though we saw most of animals, interesting Safari experience was missing as maintenance work in progress. Food available inside also seen people bringing home food for their family.

  • 5/5 Angshuman C. 2 years ago on Google
Take information about Safari. Now it is closed. If u want to see zoo in battery car then u should book ticket within 3 pm. But if u book battery car then may miss some spots. Parking is good. They have charged ₹40/- for four wheeler parking. U mey book entry ticket online, but then too u will have to collect paper ticket from counter by showing your booking details. May take food as plenty of places are there to enjoy your home made food. Nice place to visit. Children will enjoy a lot.

Good place to enjoy with kids by viewing animals. Best time to visit zoo at 2pm. Book battery cycle or normal cycle and roam over there. If you want to book electric cab then you have to be before 10am or else you won't get cab. Its well maintained but still can be improved more.

Guys if you happen to visit Chennai and you are nature lover, it is really good place to visit. Take cycle with you if you wanna ride and explore alone. There is vehicle service if you like in group. Don't missed white tiger, lion, ostrich, emu, bathing elephants, royal Bengal tiger, rhinoceros, hippopotamus, white feather peacock etc. The place is well maintain. I wish they have Kangaroos. Bring water bottles with you, it will save you money. All the best

Vandalur, with its clean and pleasant atmosphere, offers a serene environment for visitors. The overall cleanliness of the area is commendable, reflecting the efforts put in by the management to maintain a tidy space. The well-maintained pathways and neatly trimmed greenery create a soothing ambiance for leisurely strolls. However, while the cleanliness aspect is praiseworthy, there is room for improvement in terms of the facilities provided. One area that requires attention is the availability of drinking water. It would be beneficial to have more water points strategically placed throughout the park, ensuring visitors can easily quench their thirst, especially during hot weather. Another aspect that could be enhanced is the provision of dustbins in all locations. Clear signs indicating the locations of litter bins would also be helpful, promoting responsible waste disposal among visitors and contributing to the park's cleanliness. Furthermore, it is disappointing to note that some enclosures are empty. Efforts to improve and expand the animal exhibits would undoubtedly attract more visitors and contribute to the park's appeal. In conclusion, Vandalur provides a clean and pleasant environment, making it an enjoyable destination for nature enthusiasts and families alike. However, it would greatly benefit from improved facilities, including better access to drinking water, the presence of dustbins in all areas, clear signs for litter disposal, and more extensive and engaging enclosures for the animals. Addressing these areas would elevate the overall experience at Vandalur, ensuring it remains a popular and well-regarded attraction.

It’s good place for family to spend half a day time on weekend. Kids like this place by seeing all the wild and domestic animals. Battery vehicle ride was good but felt the price is little high.

One of the best places in Chennai to spend some good time with your family. Kids will especially love this place. Have lots of animals and birds. Can see tigers very close by. Pretty vast place situated adjacent to a small mountain. Sight seeing by walk is the best option else one can also take cycle on rent.

One of the biggest Zoological Park in India. If you're are planning during summer, you will feel like you never visit again summer. Lots of animals are present that you cannot see anywhere. They also have hotel inside the Park premises. Worst part is Animal shelters are not maintained. Also Restroom area as well. One good part is you will get snacks counter inside park in multiple location.

Everything is good nice experience. We choose an electric bike to explore and there is no carrier for children in Electric bikes. Electric bikes are maintained well. The person in bike counter is so helpful and patient he explains and checked out the bike before giving it to us. He also mentioned that soon E bike is going to have a carrier in future. The paths are so clean. Canteen service is so bad they are not treating people well.

Nice place for kids to spend time.. Almost all animals are present. We have to walk for miles. If we take the battery car they won't stop all places. Kids can't see the animals or birds while they slow down on roads. But you can take cycles. Well maintained. Restrooms and refreshments are available at many places. You can spot free roaming deer.

One of the good zoo's in India. Online ticket booking is available. On weekends and holidays, we can see huge crowd here. Two & Four wheeler parking available. They have cycles, e-cycles, battery cars and walking as different modes to go around the zoo. Good variety of animals available here. During our visit time, they had more tigers. Quick Bites available for snacks and cool drinks at nominal price. The only drawback is the hotel. Horrible food experience. But are allowed to bring our home food inside. So better go with that or bring packed food from outside. Its a plastic free zone. So they will arrange paper packets to replace your plastic containers (biscuit packet wrappers, chips packets). Water bottles will be sold with 10₹ extra cost. When the water bottles are returned at front gate, they will reimburse that 10₹.

Good entertainment, natural wild animals are interested to see. Fantastic maintenance really appreciation to staff who all are involved in the Zoo park activities........especially RO water in entire park, toilet facilities and cleaning.......Only one thing stalls inside the park is tooo expensive and can't acceptable. For example one tea or coffee 29/- and 32/-.......for water coffee/tea without milk...... Government should take necessary action to reduce it......

A place where you can spend quality time together with your family. Don't expect too much on animals present in zoo. Most of the sections are under maintain ance. Only 1 animal present in various sections. The environment inside the zoo is good. Prefer to go walking as you can enjoy the most. Bicycles and electric vehicle also present.

Excellent entertainment for kids. Better to take battery vehicle if you are traveling with little kids or elders. But it is better to walk if you want to cover all places and patiently look at animals in their enclosures.

Kids can enjoy the experience of live animals. If you go with a mix of kids and elderly people and if you hate a long walk kindly prefer a batter car or e-bikes which is available in premises at an affordable cost. Entry price is 200 per adult and children below 5 years are entry fee.

Good place for nature and animal lovers.. Best place for kids who have curious on animals... Huge distance of walk so elder people must use battery vehicle in this park.. Or bicycle... Must enter this park before 1pm ... To see all animals... Parking is too far from park... But park management provides free vans from park to parking....
