It's a Mini zoo and kids will enjoy this place a lot. It has aviary inside . There is children area inside where they can play inside freely. Enough parking space. We can spend about 2 hour to complete visiting the entire park. Childrens will enjoy to max elders can rest under tree shades. But must carry drinking water and some food.

Snake park very next to the Guindy National park and you must visit. Different kind of snakes which you would love to see and enjoy. Though the park is small but you will have enough to see. Must visit place. Sharing some amazing photographs for you…Enjoy!!

It's good for 1-2 hrs of entertainment, especially for kids. But I felt like there should be more diverse varieties of snakes. Only yellow reticular python was exotic to see, rest all felt like the snakes we see in common neighbourhood across Indian sub continent. They should bring in more varieties like rattling snake, Black mamba, desert snakes etc. Instead there are only Indian snakes and 13-14 varieties at max. For a park that's named after snakes, more needs to be done. Walk through section is nice,we can interact with few harmless reptiles like iguanas and 2-3 turtles.

Best place for your children to show various types of snakes and reptiles. Nowadays they are taking lot of initiatives to improve the snake park better and lots of small places created to show the iguvana, tortoise inside the cages . Few game event are happening inside the park to make audience engaged.

The Chennai Snake Park, nestled within the Guindy National Park, is a fascinating haven dedicated to the conservation and study of reptiles, particularly snakes. Established with a conservation-minded approach, the park serves as an educational resource and a habitat for various snake species indigenous to India. Visitors to the park encounter an impressive diversity of snakes, including cobras, vipers, pythons, and more. The facility emphasizes creating awareness about the critical role these creatures play in maintaining ecological balance. Snake demonstrations and educational programs provide valuable insights into snake behavior, venomous species, and the importance of snake conservation. Beyond snakes, the park also shelters other reptiles like crocodiles, turtles, and lizards. The park's serene surroundings contribute to an enriching experience, allowing visitors to appreciate wildlife in a natural setting. With its focus on research, conservation, and public education, the Chennai Snake Park stands as a vital institution in promoting the coexistence of humans and reptiles. It serves as a reminder of the importance of biodiversity and the need to protect these often misunderstood and threatened creatures.

Inside you can enjoy the close encounter with animals, etc. They have Snakes, Turtles, and crocodiles too. Ahh bunch of them are there 🐊🐢 🐍. The One Thing I would like to say ( You won't Get disappointed to visit there ).

Very good learning and entertainment for kids. The are atleast 30 varieties of snake poisonous and non poisonous. Iguana was another attraction in the park where you enter the cage and see. The entry fee is very minimal it’s 20rs for adults and 10rs for phone camera. Overall you could spend an hour in the park and get some eatables outside. The crocodile was also there and saw some huge one. The baby green iguana was also there to look. Just try once with your children they will like it. Iguana cage entry is separate 10rs

A good place for relaxation , fun and adventure. If you come to this place ask the auto driver to accept RS100/- only. Do visit both the Snake and Children's Park. Just beware of the snakes as they have found a way to escape the cage and are roaming in the park with their newly found freedom . We found one just above a wall running a marathon with us ! You can enjoy the egg toast in the canteen. Enjoy.

Good place to see varieties of crocodiles and snakes. But car parking is far from the actual location. One worst thing is they will charge Rs.20 for your mobile phone as well in addition to the usual entrance fees. Good place for your kids. They will enjoy.

Crocodiles are looking healthy.. inly few varieties of crocodiles and varieties of snakes available.. kids may enjoy more here. Description about the species is good.

Ticket 50/-. Chidren love this place. Required time is 30min. It's Located on the former home of the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust, the park is home to a wide range of snakes such as adders, pythons, vipers, cobras and other reptiles. The park gained statutory recognition as a medium zoo from the Central Zoo Authority in 1995.[2]

Would request people to arrive early to reduce the rush.. I made it to the place at 9:30 AM on a Sunday morning and the place was quite empty. The entrance fee for adults is 40rs and if you like Snakes, you will love the snake park. There are various different varieties of Venomous and No Venomous ones ranging from Spectacled Cobra,Vipes,Kraits and Rock Python.. My favourite was the yellow Albino python. There is a museum as well and there are specimens preserved in medical solutions.. There is a crocodile section as well having Saltwater crocodile, Gharial, Indian crocodile etc. Worth a visit, and I enjoyed my time completely..

I love this Snake Park since my childhood. I visited this place many times in 90's with my parents and friends. Now, after 20-25 years, this time I had taken my kids and family to cheerish my old memories. Thanks to the Trust and Association for their well maintainence. Nice picnic point where you spend easily 4-5hrs, best time would be from noon to 6PM. You can find 2 Kids open play area and food court. Entry Ticket cost and vehicle parking fare is cheap.

Our childrens are enjoyed and they came to know about various reptiles/🐍. The highlight is, inside the park they have live walk to an iguana cage, where you feed them green leaves. Rs. 10 entry fee and they provide green leaves as part of ticket. Our kids truly enjoyed this activity. Love it.

Good variety of snakes. Well maintained. Kind of staid as there is no life in the atmosphere. Some interactive facility, somebody explaining something, some announcement..... nothing at all. You just pay, walk in, wander and exit.

A great place to see and learn about snakes, crocodiles, lizards and amphibians. Lots of love exhibits and you're able to get really up close and personal. No different charge for foreigners (makes a change) 100rs for adults plus there is a small charge (30rs) for using a mobile phone. A really fun and inexpensive way for spending time. The Snake Park is next door to the Children's Park but run by a different organisation that looks after its animals. Snakes are serious stuff here with a million snake bites and maybe 20,000 deaths a year. On a weekday morning there were lots of school groups. The exhibits are mostly well designed so you can see the animals clearly. My favourite is the chameleon at the end of the trail, which was catching insects.

Chennai snake park has an intriguing experience. For those interested in the study of snakes it is a wonderful place. Though creepy and scary at times, it is a place worth the visit. Well maintained and scientific explanations to learn about snakes. The snake park is located near Guindy right next to the IIT Madras. It houses a large number of snakes such as Vipers, Cobras, Rock pythons, etc. It should be noted that the Madras Crcodile bank on ECR road is equally good with loads of crocodile species and some snakes too. Combine both of them for a truly fascinating reptile experience.

Are you looking for a mini forest like ambience within city? Do you want to see snakes, crocodiles, tortoise, lizards, snake specimens, within city? Do you want to spend good time with kids? If you answer yes to any one or for all of these then this is a must visit place. Small park and it is very well maintained. Shop is available only in the entrance and it's better to carry water and snacks with you. Reptile park inside snake park is something a good experience. Even more birds can be added inside. Snake park has venomous and non venomous snakes. Overall if you have visited guindy park and still you wanted to see more snakes and crocodiles then it's a good choice. Otherwise it's a replica. Altogether 30mins is sufficient.

It's a great experience for me. Personally I enjoyed the time I spent in the national snake park. They showcased many varieties of snake and other reptiles. But I couldn't see the chameleon as its cage was empty. If you're planning for a family outing with children, you can prefer this place. Nearby there is a children's park. But ensure it's open for visitors. Because, due to some reasons they are temporarily closed for visitors. There are alot of public transport available for this location. Have fun!!

The park exhibits venomous and harmless snakes and pythons, Indian lizards, crocodiles, tortoises, turtles native to India and foreign reptiles such as Green Iguana, Slider Turtle, Siamese Spitting Cobra, Sumatran Spitting Cobra, Nile Crocodile and Siamese Crocodile. This was a must visit place as a child for me. Visiting with my kid was a trip down the memory lane. We went around 3:30pm. The reptiles were probably just coming out of their slumber because we got to see the albino python yawn (the biggest yawn I have ever seen), snakes having their afternoon feed etc. The enclosures are well kept and have information placed at center. The costumer center is also very informative. The highlight however for us was the walk in iguana enclosures. They definitely look scary but We were all glad we did it. A special memory to behold #Chennai Snake Park# #chennai tour #places to visit in Chennai

A good place to know about snakes and other reptiles like crocodiles, lizards, turtles, etc. A half day can be spend easily. Heard that they were showing demo of venom removal and some else earlier. But it seems that they had stopped this now. Animals can be seen pretty close.

Snake park is really good. There are varieties of snacks to surf through. If visit by mid day, may get chance to see snake feeding. Crocodile varieties are good too. Inside snake part they have dedicated garden walk cost 10rs. Totally worth! You could experience freely roaming iguana and star turtle. You could touch them without harming. My kid loved it! Caution: if you are touching or letting your kid touch iguana, don't piss it off. It can and has hit with its tail when feel threatened.

I was not well when i went there but the crocodiles made me feel energetic 🤣🤣🤣 yes yes they were lazy but seeing them move a bit made me feel ‘If he will see me’ 😂 Variety of snakes were good, i liked the crocodiles and chameleon so much. For the first i saw the chameleon changing colour from green to brown. About the way of reaching there, we went on an auto because it was easily available but cab is also a good option. There was also a zoo by the side of this snake park, i didnt wandered the whole zoo as i already said i was not well 😅

Chennai Snake park is a part of Guindy National park. Currently National park is under renovation. So only snake park is accessible. An hour tour of snakes where we do find variety of snakes but most of them were alive but in a lifeless form. A short tour with your kids would be fine. But not recommended for people who enjoy watching wildlife. Guindy or Little mount would be the nearest accessible metro stations to snake park

    1) Location: Next to IIT Madras and located on main road, hardly 30-40 mins from the middle of the city or from all the tourist / important places. 2) Attractions: Great collection of snakes and reptiles. In addition to over thirty Indian snakes, this specialty zoo is home to domestic and exotic crocodiles, turtles and tortoises. A library and museum are also on site. There is one sketch artist, who makes good sketches of visitors in 5 mins, good time-pass. 3) Food: Almost none, although there is a small sarkari run counter which sells essentials like water, ice creams, cold drinks etc, but since it's in the city, you can find many options outside the park nearby. 4) Entry Fees: Minimal, 20 rupees for adults, 10 rupees for children. Extra 20 rupees for mobile phone with camera. 5) Overall: Ok types, maybe one time visit.

I visited Guindy Snake park last month. It was nice. There are various types of snakes ,both venomous and non-venomous, crocodile, alligators, tortoise, turtle , etc., They will be inside the glass chambers and so there won't be any chance of them coming out, so you can happily take your children and visit it once without any fear. There is a parking space for the vehicles to park near the snake park, but there would be a minimum charge for it. I happened to visit on weekend and that too in the evening, so there is some good amount of crowd and it took us some 10-15 minutes for getting the entry tickets. You are supposed to take tickets for taking pictures with mobile or camera etc.,

I was expecting a bit more but the park is smaller than I thought. No shows and snakes are limited tho they have a collection of preserved exhibition. The crocs were active tho and I like that they showed the babies of some of the species. Good for a 15-20 mins visit but don't expect anything exciting.

I stumbled upon the Gunidy Snack Park by accident, as the adjacent Children's Park was closed for renovation. Surprisingly, it exceeded our expectations. The entry fees were reasonable, with kids at 10 rs, adults at 20 rs, and an additional 20 rs for carrying cameras or mobiles, while a separate camera incurred a 40 rs charge. Inside, a variety of snacks, crocodiles, and turtles awaited. The park provided a satisfying experience for both kids and adults. Although some reptiles seemed motionless, leaving visitors questioning their authenticity, it added an intriguing touch. Turtles residing in a small pond were a delight for kids, despite the water needing cleaning. The park offered small games, making it an enjoyable outing. However, the absence of restrooms is a drawback. The visit typically takes 1-2 hours, providing a quick yet entertaining experience. For reptile enthusiasts and those seeking educational value for kids, this place is a budget-friendly option. As the Children's Park undergoes renovation, there's potential for the Snack Park to enhance its appeal by incorporating more reptiles and improving cleanliness. If these improvements are made, it could become a more engaging and educational destination for everyone. Overall, Gunidy Snack Park is a cost-effective and enjoyable option for a brief outing.

Kid friendly and resourceful park about snakes. It is in Guindy national park, adjacent to children's park. Have good collection of indian snake species . You need an hour to stroll through all exhibits. Kids will love it.

Chennai has a unique park for snakes and crocodile. There is a history of how reptile enthusiasts have contributed to this place and kudos to Govt of TN for maintaining it neatly and giving access to public.

Space is a major constraint here. Nonetheless the walk through Iguana enclosure is a must visit. A hands on feeding experience with the iguana is highly recommended. Sad reality here is the lack of space and kinda feel keeping mighty crocs in small enclosures is nothing less of cruelty to those majestic animals.

The Snake park is located inside the City of Chennai. Recommend to visit the place atleast before 4.30pm during natural lighting, post that visibility of the snakes won't be clear (few areas lights aren't available). Apart from Snakes, they have a new guest 'Iguana' (A reptile) and the visitors can see very close.

I visited this location with my family. We really enjoyed a lot. This place has many species of snakes and with many varieties also. We got to see many snakes which we could not see in other location. Very attractive place within reach form Chennai city. If you have few hours of time in hand then you should visit this park, I am sure you will enjoy the place. It is a kind of small forest, so you will enjoy a Safari kind of travel. I at least enjoyed that place very much.

Same old good place for better time pass in Chennai for a family outing. I would not call well maintained but definitely maintained. The bad odour in open places should be considered natural however few places it stinks. The fat or meat served for crocodiles cause a lot of attention to flies and bad odour. The snake show that shows us to extract venom will be thrilling to see. Overall a good place to visit with family.

Pretty cool tbh! The repties were quite "lazy" though so you don't get to see a lot of movement as they're usually in hibernation. Besides that, it's quite fun filled with various snakes, crocs, turtles & tortoises. Some of the equipments are busted but that doesn't ruin the experience. The down side is the food available at the entrance. If I were you, I'd avoid it. Unless you wanna end up with a tummy ache. Lol. Anyway TL:DR Great place, Great Experience.

The snake park is very well maintained. Lot of reptiles are grown here. A must visit for family esp. kids. Few games like throwing ring on cones, dart 🎯 etc., with gifts not only brought fun to kids but also educate them with information about snakes. Biological specimens of lot of reptiles are also preserved. Definitely it's a informative refreshment for young minds. Souvenir shop at the exit has brought much more excitement with small toys and tattoos. Facilities like drinking water, toilets are available within the campus which provided much required relief in the hot summer.

Children's park has been closed for the last 4 months, hence we had to visit the snake park. Nothing much to see. Just snakes and crocodiles. It will take just 20 mins inside the park. But the waiting time in the queue is 30 mins. Entrance fee for adults is ₹20, kids from ages 5 above is ₹10. They collect ₹20 for camera mobiles, which is atrocious. All of us use camera mobiles and most of the people don't give the correct numbers in the ticket office. What's the point behind this? This place is not worthy.
