I don't visit Chennai that often. A friend took me here for couples of drinks. Must say the view of the city is spectacular from here. They have designed it elegantly. Food was nice and service was 5 star level.

Ambience - ✅ Service - ✅ Price - ❌ Taste - ❌ A hype surrounds this place which brings in footfall. Portions were scarce and the taste doesn’t make up for it either. Being a Tandoori/Mughlai cuisine fan I definitely felt the Broccoli and Paneer starters could have been marinated/grilled better - they were missing that punch. Pasta/Pizza main courses were plain average. It was our team’s night out and visiting Above Sea Level kind of sobered it down. We paid a hefty purse of ₹25K but walked away with a satisfaction of let’s say 6 on 10.

One of the best ambience you will get in the roof top category. Since it's a rooftop I recommend visiting this place for dinner. This will be costly if you care about the budget. If you are looking for an experience then go for it. The service was good. On weekends reservations are recommended. Elegant and fine dining experience on the cards for anyone looking for a special celebration.

My friend proposed here - the staff could have tried more given the occasion but they were sweet. Vibes are immaculate and food is average

The best thing about this place is it's view, no doubt about it. 🍲 Food - limited menu, ordered biryani and tikka, both were decent (not amazing) 🧑‍🍳 Service - okayish! 🖼️ View - the thing which gets you here, worth it. If you plan to surprise your loved ones, get them here, it's pretty. ✌️Overall decent experience, nothing amazing that will make me visit it again P.S. if some one just coming for food then think twice, if view then don't hesitate! 🫠

Restaurant is located at terrace of the Raintree hotel. Ambience is excellent during evening and night. Live music and singing adds to the ambience. IPL matches are projected. Service staffs are friendly and providing good suggestions. Food quality is good but wouldn't rate great. Price is on higher side. Overall a good place to spent along with friends or family on a weekend night.

Wanted to go some place exotic for our 17th anniversary . Chose this place as it has a Northindian menu. Called and fixed a reservation. They accepted. But they never told us that we could reserve a table with a good view. If given the option I would have. Only if I knew. We reached on time and was shown a table. Not bad view but If they had told me I would have taken a table with better view. What's going to a roof top without a great view?. This restaurant has both Italian and Northindian limited menu. Not anything listed out of the menu is done here.. Small tables with a battery powered egg shaped LED lamp. The ambience is great and it's breezy. Also there are a lot of mosquitoes. So make sure to wear full sleeves and full pants. The music is loud but pleasant. We were given a menu. Also we can scan a QR for menu. There is also a separate alcoholic beverage menu. We ordered Paneer EKhas for the starter. It's a regular paneer tikka. Paneer was succulent, soft. It was mildly spiced and tasted lovely. The ginger chutney and mint chutney along with paneer tikka was so heavenly that we ordered it again. We ordered main course and it came after an hour. Really after 1 hr. I'm not joking. For main course we ordered Cheese & Butter naan and Bharwan paneer Makhanwala. The Naans were average. Not very soft or very fresh. The paneer gravy is the worst I have ever had in my years of life of loving Paneer Butter masala. Don't be fooled by the soft paneer starter. The paneer in the gravy was hard, chewy and stale and the gravy tasted so yucky that we didn't want to have any more of it. We didn't want to pack it and bring it either despite it costing Rs700 + tax. Those of you want to eat, order at your own peril. Or you may need to discard it after the first serving. Penne e verdure di stagione is a Penne white pasta. It was cheesy and subtly spiced and tasted good but over time when it became colder it started to lump together and became very chewy. Secondly no seasoning was offered for the pasta. We wanted to ask for seasoning but all the waiters were very busy. Already it was late and we didn't want them to delay things much. There was a surprise cake for us as we talk them that it was our anniversary. Cake too was too soaked in sugar syrup and didn't excite our taste buds. On the whole the bill was RS. 4078 which included a 6% service charge Pros : Hospitality and Ambience Cons : Food and Not letting us knew that we could book a table with view Will I return?. No. Never until they get the paneer gravy right.

Above sea level is a beautiful rooftop restaurant, where you get to enjoy a delicious meal with the natural breeze, perfect lighting, a view of Chennai and the city lights, soothing music and yes the stars and the moon shining down on you! I ordered dum biryani, unfortunately it turned out to be a complete dumless , blend and flavourless biryani. The staff said it's a premium restaurant but nothing is premium about this place. Food is quite ordinary, sitting area is ok nothing luxurious for the price they charge. Avoid this place. If you are looking for good food, for the price you pay, you will only get disappointment. Not recommended at all!!!

Food: Food is good not great but met our expectations. Few dishes were let down - Fish and chips was bad (it should be renamed as Fish Bajji). Lamb Chops, Pork Ribs were delight. Kebab were just perfect. Drinks are freaking expensive - they charge over 70% in name of tax extra. we ended up paying a huge amount. they should mention the percentage in menu i guess. the bill was really surprising. menu just had 6% on service charge not on GST and VAT. Ambience: Amazing view of the beautiful city. there were fireworks nearby was just amazing to watch. Happen to go with my friends family and was a great time. Service: It was great and fast in beginning but happen to be terribly slow when we ordered 2 and 3rd round. but no complaints, it gave us time to spend time with friends and family. Place was clean and tidy - no complaints. Reserve your table before you go and ask for best view.

The staff and ambience is great . Enjoy the place, but you might want to skip the food. . Tastes bad . I tried their starters and main course . 3 dishes failed in 5 items ordered. Chicken was raw. Paneer was tart .

We went here with a large group and had the best time. The service was excellent and so was the food! You get a 360 view of Chennai and its lovely. We went for dinner so had a night time view of the city. The menu is pretty cool, but they do interesting fusions, ie- spring rolls with brie cheese and amm papad (dried mango), which were delicious and I wish I can go back to Chennai just to have these again (I live in NYC)! We (9 of us) went to the restaurant for a team dinner. The place was more expensive than anticipated. Love the atmosphere, you can go there to enjoy the view and vibe. Food was good, but quantity was too low and service was quite slow. Apart from that, I enjoyed just being there, the live music was unexpected and very pleasant.

Had an amazing birthday dinner at this lovely rooftop restaurant! It scores on pure vibes and joy! ♥️ Loved every second of the ambience, the food was of excellent quality, and service was above par! ✨ Will definitely be visiting again. Perfect ambience , great food , excellent service by Mr Dhamo . Taste of all items that we ordered was really good and soothing as well as appealing to the palate . Mr Dhamo made our experience even better by his quality service and caring demeanour . Food, serving, presentation all was good overall i liked it.

The place has a beautiful view. The galoti kebabs were to die for. The drawback is that it's expensive. There were lot of mosquitos as it's on the rooftop.

The live music was the main draw card. The service is good. The food left a lot to be desired. For the price it is overrated. The naans were burnt and the planner tikka lacked salt. The views are decent.

The ambience was great, especially on a cool December evening. The music was just right. Not loud and not intrusive but very pleasant on the ears. The food was decent though a little overloaded on the spices. But the bartender needs some more training OR the recipes need to be fixed. We ordered a pitcher of “Sand in the Crack” and all 5 of us on the table couldn’t drink beyond a couple of sips :( it tasted simply like sparkling wine, with no hint of the vodka or the lime juice) We returned the drink and the manager finally agreed to take it off the check. Ordered another round of cocktails. 2 of the “basil smash”, each of them looked and tasted different, the “short trip to hell” was supposed to be in a copper mug but came in a martini glass, the cosmos … have had much better … we normally would have had 3 to 4 cocktails each but we stopped with the second. I didn’t mind the high pricing ( ~50% more expensive than a few other places we went to in Chennai) cause of the ambience but the cocktails failed to set the tone for the evening :( 3 stars for the food and 1 star for the cocktails. Not a place I would go back to.

The ambience was amazing. We had a very mixed experience. The food was a mix of some dishes being extremely good and some being ok. The Galouti kebab was to die for. However the service was horrible. The drinks took forever to come. We were a group of 6 people and the drinks came in batches. Waiting for it we lost interest to continue drinking. The other disappointing things was we ordered naan and gravy for the main course. The naan was served on the table and the for the next ten minutes the gravy hadn't been served. Then on request that the naan would get cold the took it back and got us a fresh set of naans with the gravy. For the price we paid and the stature of the hotel I was very disappointed with the services we received. Would i go back there? Yes for the ambience and the Galouti kebab alone. With no expectations whatsoever of any kind of service at all.

Went to dinner here. It's on rooftop of rain tree hotel. Natual air. Swimming side. Tasty food. Service excellent. While serving tell the item and after tasting it, some one comes and asks how the taste. Reasonable prices. Only option in menu for rotis found latcha parota. We took ajwain parota. But felt if rotis made of atta available instead of maida it will be very good. Otherwise excellent.

The place was elegant. The menu offered a great selection of dishes, with a strong emphasis on local and seasonal ingredients. I decided to try the grilled mahi-mahi and was not disappointed. The fish was cooked to perfection and the accompanying salad was fresh and flavorful. A good place to spent along with friends or family on a weekend night. Really amazing food

This is the one of the best hotel🌸 I have visited in Chennai. pleasure of staying at a Above sea level Restaurant hotel during my vacation, and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. The best thing about this place is it's view Chennai's Skyline view. Especially during dinner the vibrant city is colorfully live spectacular at night. Very romantic setting. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I visited this while I was attending an office conference at Chennai. After the conference, I went here with a few of my colleagues. My mind was completely blown to see the interior decoration of this place. It was so serene and calm, it took away my tiredness. And the food, I can bet they serve the best in the vicinity. Its a perfect place to calm yourself and also have healthy food.

We went there for Marc and Marcia who perform live every Wednesday and Friday. The quality of the food is great, lovely flavors however with respect to the portion size the cost is very high. Love the ambiance.

Best spot on top of the world with great views. We had the seafood festival dishes that were amazing. Executive chef was very helpful and created dishes that blew us away. He even made a fish curry from the head that was super delicious. Ulagu- our waiter was outstanding

Nice ambience, but not popularised much. Enjoy your evening under the cold sea breeze. Choice of food and side dish not all that great. Limited choice for dessert as well.

The Ambience was really great. Kebab had soulful taste. Grill half baby Chicken was not up to the Mark and the quantity was very less. Potato Saute Wedges and brocolli was good though. The highlight was Tomato Soup which was perfect to the core and I really enjoyed it. Thanks to Dhamodharan who served our table. He was polite and professional.

What a great find this was. Alfresco rooftop dining. There was a mix up with our reservation....our travel agent hadn’t made it...however, the restaurant, in spite of being incredibly busy, pulled out all the stops to fit us in. It was , in fact, a speciality fish evening and the selection of fish and shellfish on view was spectacular. We never saw a menu, the chef was on hand to discuss what we wanted and what he could do. The food was outstanding. Staff were a delight, helpful, friendly and attentive. We loved the atmosphere of the place.

Above Sea Level is the best roof top among any other roof top restaurants in Chennai. The ambience is really excellent, it is very very pleasant with very less noise of the city. The swimming pool view makes the dinning even more special. Food was great as well. I always prefer going to above sea level over and over again

The sea food festival was on and the starters were good, but the main course gravy had the fish scales in it . Though they replaced the gravy, but did not expect such a bad preparation from a reputed restaurant.

Place and ambience appears to be really good. Amazing place to dine at the roof-top along with nature and music. But the food served was a blunder.Soups were good. But the non-vegetarian main course dishes served over here sucks.

Terrace bar with a pool. Not crowded, very clean, nice decor, courteous bartender, high chairs, excellent terracetop view and pool. Excellent draught beer. Currently have happy hour 11am to 7pm on beer and some alcohol.

It's a great place on the rooftop and by the pool. The views are amazing and the drinks aren't too expensive. It is never too noisy and a great place to relax and talk with friends....

I’ve visited this hoter couple of times a year back , but its the first time at above sea level with my friend, I have to mention this could be one of my favorite & go to place now, I enjoyed the food with nice breez & beautiful ambience, and service was just impeccable. Perfect place to dine if you wish to have romantic dinner. We will comeback soon & highly recommend this place. Nice views, good food. various options. Service is a bit slow, so, you may want to hasten the order, unless you want to be immersed in the views for long :)

Not better

Perfect ambience to set a great mood for a dinner date. The guitarist played a special song. Great views of the city. They also made a nice table decoration with cake for the birthday surprise. Overall had a great experience.
