I took my adolescent son to the ER at UW Madison Children's Hospital for extreme neuropathic pain and self harm injuries due to the pain. He stayed for 2 days, he received zero psychiatric help and no help for pain management. My child is stuck in a trauma, pain, anxiety loop and this Hospital did nothing, but choose to further traumatize him. In fact he said, "Mom, I've lost hope." No parent wants to hear this. We left with no help for our child at all. The self harm injury was done the week prior after spending hours up there for his pain, too. This is inhumane. As a family, we are outraged.

We had our first visit today and were blown away by the children's hospital. When we went to the free valet parking we were offered a wagon. Every single person was so kind to us. The doctor was great with my kids, and took the time to explain things in a way we understood. He has given my son so much hope. Definitely the best experience with a children's hospital, and we've been to 4 others. After our appointment the kids actually wanted to stay because there is so much to see. We loved all the themed hallways, children's artwork, and especially the car couch.

As much as is sucks to have your kid admitted to the hospital, AFCH is the BEST most comprehensive health care for children on the planet. Granted, we don’t have like anything to compare it to, but don’t know how it could be beat. Entire staff is phenomenal. Accommodations are exceptional. Utmost attention to safety and cleanliness. Child Life and focus on comfort absolutely outstanding. And kiddo loves the food and ipad ordering. Shout out to Epic for best of EHR and MyChart Bedside. It’s nice to know that the third trip to the hospital in 6months and my daughter looks forward to her food service! She’ll actually wake up early every morning just to get her order in :) Now THAT’s a great start to an otherwise trying and uncertain day. THANK YOU AFCH ❤️

I was very impressed with my daughters doctor visit. We had to drive two hours to get there, so I was hoping they would give us good attention. They spent a nice long visit with us and we felt taken care of. Great place!

The doctor had poor bedside manor. She was rude told us she saw patients who were on time for the scheduled time slot, so made us wait. Due to being 10-15 minutes late because of construction and UW-Madison college kids moving in. She revised our LO’s tongue tie and also said “Mom go sit down I don’t need two patients”. On the other hand the speech pathologists were great, very attentive and loved our LO!

American Family Children’s Hospital is such a wonderful hospital. All the nurses that have helped us along my sons medical journey since 2020 have been so caring and helpful. Dr Hsu and Dr Ahmed are extremely knowledgeable and have always taken the time to explain things to us until we understood. Our son has extremely talented doctors and we have always felt good about our decision to bring our son here.

Because AFCH is so innovative they are able to provide great care in the hospital, and are adept at coordinating great care once you leave as well. The providers work well together and communicate across specialties for better continuity of care. They not only care about patients individual needs they expect and plan for your own unique needs. This is sadly not they case in other hospitals. We miss you AFCH!

We were there for 25 days. They made it as pleasant as they could all things considered. The staff treated my son like a human being and with respect. They went above and beyond in the nephrology unit.

I love this place! The hospital is amazing and so are the Drs, Nurse practitioners. They go above and beyond to make sure the issues are addressed and you are comfortable with the diagnosis and understand. I couldn’t have asked for a better place for my son!

We go here a lot as my child had a soft cleft palate at birth. We see the cleft palate team yearly now. We used to see Dr. Marcy in GI and we loved her so much, but we graduated from there. Dr. Garland did my daughter's soft cleft palate surgery when she was a year old, and it looks PHENOMENAL and healed so well! Nastassja is so sweet and kind every time we see her. She's so personable and thoughtful. We look forward to our visit with her and Dr. Garland each year! Exceptional care and exceptional staff at AFCH Madison - THANK YOU!

Everyone I encountered at the hospital was very friendly and helpful. I visited the speech and ENT department and was pleased with my experience. The staff was very kind, thorough, and attentive. The valet service and wagon offered to help transport my son in his car seat through the large building was also very appreciated!

We are so blessed to have AFCH so close to home. I feel like my kids are so loved and cared for by their care teams. It's a team effort! I would HIGHLY recommend Darci in pediatric pulmonary to anyone who needed those services!

Nobody likes going to the hospital, and we unfortunately have had many medical visits this year at several hospitals in different healthcare systems. Every visit to American Family Children's Hospital has exceeded our expectations. From scheduling, to being friendly, attention to detail, ensuring our questions have been answered, taking time to properly diagnose and explain, to billing, and responding to questions. Again I do not like taking my kids to the hospital, but every experience here has been far better than the other hospitals I have had to visit. This is my first choice of a hospital, even though it is a 2 hour drive and I have a "hospital" 10 minutes from my house.

We see pediatric rheumatologist Dr Co. He is always kind and thorough with examination. With his help my daughter has been in remission for 2 years and we are now weaning off medication for juvenile arthritis. We especially appreciate the check-in gal Melissa. She is always so nice and happy and smiley. She really makes our day! All the providers my daughter has seen at American Family Children’s Hospital have been kind and thorough and helpful. It would be nice though if they were educated in dietary and herbal / natural solutions or to complement the conventional treatments. Otherwise they are great here.

It's been 8 years and as I'm writing a story I want to go back and say thank-you. My son at the time was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome. Only at this hospital 8 doctors gathered together to reach out to Ohio to diagnose my son. My son was paralyzed and I was a helpless Dad that had to give my prayers to GOD. This hospital helped my son get back to health with 2 shots to his spinal cord. Mind you I'm military and had no family or support near other than my coworkers. The staff gave us the support back after going to others hospitals in the area. Any longer without helping my son I possibly could have lost him. Today... he is not as fast, not as big, can't take a flu or cocid vaccine, but is being a kid. Thankyou Sergeant First Class Cedrick Harding (Army) this photo was days I set next to him after he started to walk again and had to rest

We came here on Friday July 1st as my 15 year old son had become extremely anemic and had very low blood volune to see the pediatric GI team. They got on things right away starting with labs, fluids, vitamins, and blood transfusion. Had hos Endoscopy and Colonoscopy on Sunday the 3rd. Today he goes for MRI to view the areas of the intestines the scopes could not reach. So it's no food again until after the MRI. But we have had nothing less than excellent care from all the staff. Tanisha from Chikd Life here at the hospital is so amazing. We would love to take her home with us and make her a part of our family. Jessica from housekeeping is such a sweet lady and genuinely cares about her job and the patients and families. The nursing staff on the 5th floor are extremely kind and professional while keeping a great sense of humor and make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. They understand all of our anxieties not just about being here, but about what we all have going on at home and a parents need to be in both places at the same time. So far they have listened with great compassion as I'm rambling about my need to be home doing all the stuff that needs doing for all my other family members, knowing I'm not leaving my son here alone. Which has been a great stress reliever and not the feeling of guilt as being only 1 person. Definitely a place I would not have anxiety about having to be at again if the need ever arose again.

In 1 word, horrible. No one checked on my 14 year old for hours after being involved in a MVA and there due to neck/back injuries. 2 doctors eventually walked in her trauma room and said “oh, I had no idea you were in here”. We finally got admitted to a room early morning. No additional scans, X-rays, nothing was done of her compression fracture in her back. The short blonde nurse practitioner told me that I needed a nap because I was frustrated that we were put on the back burner. She talked to me like I was a 2 year old and made my daughter cry. I work in the med/surg dept of my local hospital and would never make people feel the way they made us feel. My daughter was just another patient to them. Communication sucked. I could go on and on.

Dr. Adam Burr supervises my treatments for cancer. He is a very knowledgeable doctor who stays current with treatment options. He is always patient and kind. I feel comfortable asking questions and feel well informed regarding my program of care.
