Excellent gift shop, historical tour, and small distillery. We signed up for the free complimentary tour on their website. We had low expectations given it was a free tour, but were blown away by how good it was. The and interactive historical displays were top notch. There were free cocktail tasting stations with knowledgeable employees that explained the origins of what you were tasting. Highly recommend taking this tour.

Free tour with tastes of 3 cocktails! We showed up without a reservation and had no problem doing a tour right away - this might be different on certain days or times of year. The tour is self guided so you set your own pace. It's a beautiful museum setup with several interactive displays. Gift shop has lots of items with many affordable options.

I don't even know where to start! If you're a tourist in New Orleans, make sure you do this. This was on our optional to-do list, but in retrospect, it would have been such a miss if we did not end up doing it. The best part of it all was that the tour is free! So indulge yourself in tasting some nice sazerac, good rum, and some yummy bourbon cream! Also, take down notes on their recommended cocktail recipes while you're here. The fermentation tanks were also cool to look at, and I learnt a lot about the art of alcohol. The house doesn't have a bar though, but it's only 4 blocks away! It is definitely a highlight of my NOLA trip.

Great museum. 3 stories with sampling of cocktails on the second floor. Great history of New Orleans and the whisky industry. Very nice store at the 1st level. Best of all, currently it’s free.

My husband and I LOVED this experience. Between the guides on each floor showing us how each drink was made traditionally and the interactive displays... we had a ball. The drink samples definitely were an excellent touch. I would recommend this experience to everyone that I know.

Amazing experience. I can't stress this enough. This is now a must do attraction in the city. Great interactive experiences with projection mapping. Plus, you get a few cocktails as you do the tour.

Taking a walk through the city we found this gem in New Orleans. The fact that they offer complimentary tours is insane, especially since they conclude some good alcohol tasting. Great staff, and a great place to learn about New Orleans history.

Can't believe the tour is free and easily available. It was absolutely fantastic with a wealth of information. The interactive bits were too good. 3 different drink samples included as well. Worth the trip! Reserve online. We got same day reservations.

How many places on Yelp have a perfect 5 star rating? I don’t know the answer to that question, but I do know it’s not a large number. However , this spot makes that list. There is a reason for the five star rating! I am so glad that someone that we ran into while visiting the city told us about this spot. It is located in the heart of everything New Orleans has to offer on Magazine street. It is hard to miss this place give that it’s located on a corner and has a ton of signage on the building. When we arrived we scanned a QR code at the entrance and obtained tickets for a FREE ( yes FREE) tour that was starting in 15 minutes. After purchasing an allocated time you do have to sign in at the register. The staff provides you with a bracelet that is scanned during the tour for complimentary ( yes, another feeble) cocktails. The inside of this place is beautiful. There is a wall of alcohol as a focal point with a beautiful staircase. The tour is conducted on 3 floors. You start at the top and make your way down. There are plenty of opportunities to engage during your self guided tour. Ultimately you end o up on the bottom floor where you can tour the distillery. Your final landing place is the gift shop. They have something for everyone. I opted to go with airplane size bottles since I was only doing a carry on luggage heading back home. Overall I have nothing negative to say about this experience. It’s a great use of time and would highly recommend. It if you are in the city.

This is a pretty incredible place. Highly recommended as a top stop in New Orleans. Especially if you're a drinker, a review of the history and creation of different alcohols cocktails Etc is really fascinating. Make a reservation and show up the tour is free. You get to taste several cocktails after understanding their history. Turns out Sazerac owns half the alcohol companies in the industry and really enjoys talking about what they do. Great visit, thanks!

The Sazerac House was a unique and fun museum. We signed up for the free self-guided tour. I was very impressed with the interactive exhibits. One featured a digital bar and bartenders where you could explore drinks of eras as they created the digital drink of your choosing. The friendly and knowledgeable staff who provided us with samples added depth to the experience.

This place is absolutely a cocktail time capsule! Tour guides were completely educated in their crafted & comfortable in their skin! Make sure you sign up online (fasted way to get a tour) & it’s completely free! Check the amazing gift shop for some really cool finds!

This was such a great place to visit! The museum part itself was worth coming, but tasting the bitters, rum, gin, etc. was the main event. It is FREE to go here, but you need to make a reservation online. The staff are so friendly. Sally is so energetic and hilarious. Cookie is so funny. Gregg with three Gs is awesome. 10/10 would recommend.

Great FREE tastings and historical tour spot. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised at the incredible cocktails, service, and fun facts we learned along the way. Definitely recommend this experience. Book in advance, the last tour of the day ends at 4:15, and you might not get to do it if you wait until the last minute.

After visiting New Orleans many times I'm glad I finally dedicated some time to visit Sazerac House! Definitely one of the best museum experiences I've ever had. The space itself is gorgeous, mixing historical and modern aspects. While it's free to visit/tour you can also upgrade to a private tasting. Granted, those seem to sell out in advance whereas I was able to snag a reservation for a self-guided tour online while on the way over. You get a wristband at check-in which is used to track your three cocktail tastings (about 1oz). You can spend as little or as much time here as you want but I feel an hour is enough time to dedicate to the self-guided tour. This is an excellent thing to do in the summer as their air conditioning is on point!! Once the tour is complete spend some time buying bottles and accessories for friends and family in the lobby gift shop. You don't need a reservation or visit the lobby area. A New Orleans do not miss just off the French Quarter!

This is a must do while in NOLA if you are 21+ older. Not only do you learn about the history of the iconic drink, there a some fun interactive moments as well. Take you time during this experience to enjoy the details that was out into this museum. I liked that they offered a touchscreen experience on every level. My advice is to have a gentle yet firm touch with the screens.

Highly recommend taking the free tour (book timed tickets in advance). Love the interactive elements and of course, the free tasters! It won’t take 90 minutes like the website suggested. 30-45 min max

Very cool experience. The tour of the distillery is cool, but the bits of history of New Orleans and other topics was awesome. This was a great experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting New Orleans.

This is straight up the best museum I’ve ever been to. AND IT’S FREE!! You need to go here. Every exhibit about the Sazerac legacy, from its origins to today, was so well presented and so cool to learn about. Even the tastings were extra interesting because they showed and explained how things are made.

Beautiful museum with first class exhibits! Visited with my husband and parents. We all loved the interactive exhibits, cocktail tastings, and learning more about the unique cocktail culture and history of New Orleans. All staff members were excellent!! Had some great conversations. We couldn't believe it was FREE! (Thanks, Mr. Goldring!) Perfect way to spend a couple hours near the Quarter. If you love history, cocktails, or New Orleans, go here!!! 🥃⚜️

Took the free tour and really enjoyed the history and the samples! Really cool interactive features, videos, and a great gift shop! They even sell the airplane size bottles! Definitely recommended! Do make a reservation though - we noticed some walk ins were not able to take the tour. Maybe because it was full at the time.

Stumbled upon this gem while walking around. I love whiskey, so I found the history and process extremely interesting. It's a self guided tour, so you can take as much time as you'd like on 3 different floors, and there are samples of various drinks and bitters as well. All the staff is very knowledgeable and were also all very friendly.

The sazerac house is an exploration in the history of the namesake, followed by the bitters and rum that all became famous due to New Orleans! This is a great self-guided tour that has samples throughout each floor. If you're an enthusiast who likes to learn a little bit more about the history, this is a great place to go that has wonderful staff who are very knowledgeable. The gift shop offers prices at a fair rate, but does not always have all of its offerings available as some are limited. There are no tastings other than what's on the tour. It is still a worthwhile visit, and the tour is free!

After looking around for a distillery tour we came across The Sazerac House so today my wife and I went on a tour to the Sazerac House in downtown New Orleans. The company is well know around the world for it whiskey, bourbon, liqueur and other name brand items. My wife and I learn about how alcohol make and learn how to make mix drinks. It's self guided tour you learn the history of the Sazerac House and family still continue making type of spirits and also family own.

Absolute MUST when in NOLA! The tour is free with 3 different tastings along the way. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly! The house itself is really cool, and the history of the New Orleans cocktail is fun and interesting to learn about. Will be back to do again!

A awesome slice of history. We did a self guided tour. It was free with a few cocktail tastings. We walked in and signed in and we were on our merry way. I would recommend signing up for the tour if the city has large events. The gift shop didn't disappoint. I bought a keychain and t shirt. The bottles offered weren't amazing. I didn't really expect to find any hidden gems. Although they are all sold at cost. If you live in a area where some of these bottles are allocated it may be a treat for you.

We are a fashion photography company that was able to use the sazerac house for our shoot. The staff was very friendly and didn't mind as long as we're respectful to the other guests. We will definitely come back to enjoy the exhibits. This is a great activity for anyone visiting our city.

This was a pretty cool free experience. I booked online. Not sure if you could walk in. It was interesting learning about liquor. You do get a few free sample tasting... some are better than others but take them all for a better experience 😊☺️😉 The drink making station was pretty cool as well... just wish there was an actual drink attached, LOL.

Fun place to visit in New Orleans if you want something free and educational. You can learn about the history of alcohol in New Orleans and they also provide small samples of cocktails throughout the museum. There are also some fun interactive activities. This was a good way to spend an hour or two on a rainy day.

The people who work here are the sweetest and kindest I’ve experienced in NOLA! The tour is self guided and a great time for whiskey and bourbon enthusiasts. They had a sip and savor event the night I went so I spent several hours there and also god a bottle laser engraved for me daughter down the road. 10/10 come check this out

This was an excellent experience for FREE! The Sazerac is the signature drink of New Orleans & it is absolutely STRONG, ha! In a good way. It's a self paced tour with the history explained in the beginning from staff. I would recommend booking an appt for tour times but not required, makes it easier for both parties. This tour comes with free samples of drinks! Why wouldn't you tour this free drinking, history experience 🥃

  • 5/5 Kim R. 10 months ago on Google
If you like to learn, this is a great experience. Very hands on and interactive, learn the history of alcohol in the US and New Orleans. Also great info on the making of whiskey. And there are free drink samples along the tour. Great way to spend an hour inside and learn something new.

Enjoyed this place very much, especially for the price of admission - FREE. We were able to sample various different drinks all of which were delicious. The tour while self guided, was very informative and the staff was superb. Highly recommend that you pay them a visit as well.

Me being a bartender I found this place MY UTOPIA. From beginning to end this was one of my favorite parts of visiting New Orleans. Clean, beautiful, educational and the sample stations was absolutely delightful. This is a must for everyone who appreciates the industry.

The Sazerac House is a wonderful combination of museum, distillery and restored building. The employees are great and very helpful. Fran especially showed historic details I may have otherwise missed. The building is stunning and a great example of repurposing an old structure. The tour is informative with samples, displays and movies on cocktails and their history in New Orleans. Definitely worth seeing and a memorable time.

Great history of the development of the distilling industry in New Orleans for hundreds of years. The samples were very limited and small but interesting. They talk about the history of rum and other distillations without any reference to the use of slaves. It's nice to learn so much, but some relevant information is left out.

  • 5/5 Donn H. 2 years ago on Google
Great tour. Interesting and tasted several samples. Definitely go. Bring your friends.

  • 5/5 Olivia Q. 1 year ago on Google
We loved our experience at the Sazerac House! We found them through the New Orleans website under free things to do, and we were not disappointed. All of the bartenders throughout the tour were friendly and super knowledgable about the history and products they were working with. The tour was interactive and we enjoyed it being self guided, which let us really explore what we wanted and focus on the exhibits we found most interesting. We of course ended up stopping by the distillery/gift shop at the end and picking up some of their sour mix, which was one of the best premixed mixers we've tried, and it stretched out across many more cocktails than we thought it would. Make a point to stop here if you enjoy prohibition/speak easy history, or just enjoy learning about cocktails and liquors :)

The Sazerac House is a must visit in New Orleans. It is an elegant and upscale tour of the distillery. Educational and the tasting of course if fun. Everything is done very well with great attention to detail and the employees are extremely hospitable, knowledgeable and fun! The gift shop is worth a visit itself. Highly recommend experiencing this while in New Orleans - especially for Bourbon lovers!!

Had an amazing experience at the Sazerac House! Easily made a reservation for a complimentary tour, and happened to visit during the museums three year anniversary! The staff were very nice and informative, and the self guided tour was very interactive and high tech. The spirits tastings were delicious and I loved the free recipe cards!

  • 5/5 Monali P. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely loved everything about Sazerac House! The self guided tour and tasting are free and so much fun. The staff is knowledgeable and the items sold there are reasonably priced. My favorite features are the virtual bartenders...what a cool concept! If you're into fine liqueurs and whiskey, this is for you!

  • 5/5 Empressive C. 2 years ago on Google
Visited here yesterday with friends. Learned a lot about the history of this whiskey. The museum was beautiful and staff were helpful and professional. One of a few free experiences that provided us with shots of whiskey on each floor. They offer digital glimpses that tell stories of how the Sazerac came to be. A lovely gift shop if your mate is a whiskey lover.

  • 5/5 Carolyn L. 2 years ago on Google
Wow! The coolest alcohol tour around! We learned so much and cannot wait to stock our bar with Sazerac brands so we can make all the cocktails we sampled. The staff was so helpful, inviting, generous and knowledgeable! So much cool history and the technology was so impressive! We had an absolute blast and will make it a must-do every time in NOLA! Cheers! 🥃

  • 5/5 Samantha E. 2 years ago on Google
We took the free tour, it was great! Learned a lot about history of cocktails in New Orleans, and got 3 samples! Really a fun activity if you are interested in spirits.

  • 4/5 Mackenzie B. 2 years ago on Google
Overall fun! The tour takes you through information about how sazerac started and evolved over the years. Very interesting. A lot of reading. I prefer to have your guides tell you all about it. The samples are good but very small. I think a better flow of this museum would be to have a taste of sazerac at the beginning to give a guide as to what to look for with tastes and everything. It would be nice to have a bar at the end to sample more as well.
