This place has been consistently busy for the last 3 years I've been visiting. The food is very tasty and cleanliness is decent enough to make you want to go back again. The place is packed though, so expect strangers sitting with you on your table. Not the best place for a relaxed meal, so don't expect it. You want good food... just land up there. They don't have a dedicated parking space, but there is plenty of roadside parking available. They have a couple of security guards who will guide you while parking. You also may want to be prepared to wait outside for a table to get free. If summer... May god help you with the scorching heat outside. However go through the wait in the hot sun, and then go inside and have a cold buttermilk... absolutely refreshing and worth the wait. I have tasted their chicken biriyani and non veg meals on different occasions. They were both good and I would recommend both. The restaurant is quite small but seats a lot in that space. They have an AC seating area which compensates for this else you wouldn't be able to sit inside.

Had the mouth-watery Pichupotta Kozhi, Kari Dosa, Mutton Kola and many more. The food taste was hot and satisfying but the place was so compact and we waited for some time to dine in.

This might be the only famous household restaurant in Cbe which still stays true to their roots. I’ve had food here around 7 yrs back and it tastes almost the same even today. That’s something hard to maintain in a restaurant business. Naatukozhi fry was the stand out dish which had melt in your mouth chicken cooked with the meticulously blended masala. Other dishes like ghee parotta, biriyani were good but kola urundai, chinthamani dosa can be skipped. Have to mention their mutton and chicken gravies which will be served in mugs which go unnoticed as accompaniments though they’re star of the show. Service was nice but they serve everything pretty quick and expect people to leave soon as it’s a small place with crowd always outside. Ambience was average.

We recently visited one of Coimbatore's busiest non-veg restaurants, and I must say, the experience left an indelible mark on our taste buds. Located in the heart of the city, this bustling eatery not only lives up to its reputation as one of the busiest spots in town. The ambiance exudes a vibrant energy, with the constant hum of conversations and the enticing aroma of variety of dishes. Despite the apparent chaos, the staffs are masters of efficiency, ensuring prompt service without compromising the qualtiy The food is exceptional, boasting a rich variety of flavorful non-veg dishes that cater to diverse tastes of our own “Kongu Nattu recipes”. The prices may be on high side but it’s worth it. While the restaurant's popularity might mean a wait during peak hours, the overall experience makes it well worth the patience. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this spot is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in the diverse and delectable world of non-vegetarian cuisine.

Coimbatore will confuse you with the many dining options and restaurants. This restaurant must not be missed if you are a non-vegetarian. Authentic Kongunadu food and its excellent. Do make up your mind to wait for sometime as this restaurant will be busy during lunch time. They manage the crowd pretty well. Meals, Biriyani, Porotta are the most popular ones along with the delicious chicken, mutton, fish dishes. The quantity is also excellent.

Good non veg hotel i have tried mutton biriyani, non veg meals, chicken fry, nethili fish fry and mutton fry all are good some were excellent with regional flavor. little busy on peak hours always but Worth waiting. 24 July 2022 Today I had a bad experience with this hotel. The hotel is always crowded and a person with a pen will note a person and allotte table he always does favour for people with crowds and will avoid single and double person (4 times it happened) today while I was early no crowd and there is a place for me a server place me with other guy I went single only while sitting with leaf and waiting for meals and and sides the allotment guy came and ask me to change my seat because the other guy who had while I went finished eating, I always avoid these type of creepy people And this is not the first time My biggest disappointment is food to have a good lunch I travelled 12 km in car nearly 12 kms crossing all famous restaurants and hotels But the meals are average normally the chicken and mutton kulambu will taste good with the regional flovor and mutton varuval is not up to their standard missing the taste

Was recommended to this place because I wanted to try some fish dishes. We ordered two types of fish, egg n chicken too, plus some vegetables. On my first visit, I had briyani and fried fish, which was fabulous as well. Lovely place, good food, and a variety of choices. During peak hours, they had the manager organise us into first come, first service. Was warmly welcome and taken care of on both visits. Food and service consistency is simply remarkable. Highly recommended.

Our first stop in our coimbatore food journey. Authentic Kongunadu food. Tasty, spicy and yummy. The place is packed though, so you may have to wait for some time or share your table. We ordered chicken biryani, mutton chukka, pichipotta kozhi, mutton balls, non veg meals. Loved each dish. The mutton ball was crispy, hot and spicy. Non veg meals was served along with fish curry, chicken curry and mutton curry.. All were ok. The spinach item was the best i have tasted in my life. Mutton chukka and biryani was also really good. Was not impressed with the pichipotta kozhi.

Wonderful place to eat good food, been visiting them for past 10 years tasted almost all the items in their menu. This time we ordered Nalli fry, Egg kothu parotta, Chicken Kari dosa, pichu potta kozhi, mutton kola urundai and kalaki. All the items that we ordered was very tasty. Only drawback is the small dining space, over crowded during peak hours. Ambience is so constricted, can't eat peacefully during the peak hours. Hope they expand so that it's convenient for the customers.

A mess that is reasonably priced and which has a great tasty food. But always too crowded and u have to wait for too long in weekends. It's worth waiting to taste the food. But make sure to go there before u r feeling hungry, otherwise waiting period there will make u carving for food.

A crowded and famous spot in the race course for nonveg food. The hotel is a very normal one with an average ambience but people come here for its name and food. The place has a moving crowd and it's very crowded during weekend times. We went on a week day for dinner yet we hardly found a seat. The nonveg items are famous especially the parotta, pizhi pota kozhi, mutton side dishes, briyani we too ordered the few yet we found the items a little bit salty but the spice levels are perfect. Overall a good place to visit once.

Tasty and quality food. Biriyani is not overpowered with spices. It was subtle but tasty with the flavour of meat. One of the best places to go to for "Namma ooru" non veg food!

Such a great food we ever had at Coimbatore. Thi place is simple a heaven. All the things that we ordered were finger licking good to be exact. The mutton and nattu kolli kurma which they serve with porota is soo good. And you much try the mutton keema balls, prawns fry and ofcourse their biriyani. We were completely satisfied with all the food that we have ordered. A good meal at very affordable price. Yet to try many more delicious dishes from here. You might have to wait for a bit as their is rush in all time at the shop. But the wait is of worth I would say.

I was recommended to visit this restaurant by my brother during my trip to Coimbatore for lunch. I went along with my colleague, and when we arrived by cab, we were surprised to see a large crowd waiting in front of the hotel. We gave our names and patiently waited for our turn to be seated. After a 30-minute wait, our names were finally called, and we entered the restaurant. We ordered Biryani, Chicken Pallipalayam, Kola Urundai, and Fish. All the dishes were prepared in a delicious Kongu style, and almost every dish was outstanding. The Biryani and the Kola were absolute must-tries. As for the price, it was reasonable and definitely worth it for the quality of food and service we received.

Visited this place last week have gone to this place many times, a kind off hiked place to be honest because it's not worth the the hype which they give for this place, highly priced in certain things and they don't care when we ask for anything and they take their own time to give the requested things. I would say it as a decent place to have a good food. Authentic south indian spicy food on its own taste.

The signature dish is pallipalayam chicken which is being served both country and broiler chicken is culinary ecstacy, a must visit place for lunch and dinner if one visit coimbatore. Also to mention the polite service ..

Average food and not worth the hype. Its bit overpriced when compared and we couldnt feel anything special. No wow factor. Tried their mutton chukka, pallipalayam chicken and they tasted good. The pricing is on a higher side. You can try it once and see if it trigger your taste buds. This place is always crowded and you may need to wait for sometime to get a space. No dedicated parking space, still you can park vehicles nearby.

Food: Chicken & Mutton biryani - Piping hot samba biryani served with sufficient meat; the mutton was succulent but the chicken was a bit layery, though tender it was just OK. 😚😚 The fragrances were all bang on target with a good spice level. Kola urundai - Freaking soft mutton with a crisp outer layer and filled with amazing flavours on the inside; the native taste was evident along every bite, NAMMA OORU MEATBALL 🤩🤩 Mutton chukka - Spicy chukka with small pieces of boneless meat; filled with coriander leaves, this semi gravy had the right amount of spice and sour, MUST TRY 🥰 Pallipalayam chicken - Authentic South-Indian dish with lots of dried red chillies and coconut; too spicy to handle, crunchy from the gravy, UNIQUE🤗 Fried egg - Boiled eggs chopped and tossed in a mixture of pepper, chilli, garam masala etc to form a semi-gravy; the curry leaves with the masala were perfect for the egg😉😉 Masala omelette - Usual omelette stuffed with green chilli and onions; usual finale for any meal down south😊 Ambience/Price: Right from the time the place opens by noon, it gets beefed up with crowds. There might be waiting time during peak hours. The ambience is simple with limited seating in both AC and Non-AC dining areas. Service was decent enough with not much waiting time for any dishes. Parking shouldn't be a problem with ample space on the main road. The price does make everyone happy with such good food served at nominal rates. *Personal rating would be a 4.5

One of my favorite go to restaurants in cbe. Had Dinner at Valarmathi after almost a year. I used to have lunch here repeatedly during my college days. We ordered Mutton Briyani, Chintamani dosa, Mutton Chukka, Pallipalayam chicken, Fish chilly, Mutton kola Uranda, Kal dosa and kalaki. I really liked the aroma and flavor of the mutton briyani. Mutton pieces were so succulent. I felt nostalgic remembering my college days. Mutton chukka with kal dosa - Deadly combo Pallipalayam chicken masala was good, but the chicken was chewy a bit. Fish chilly - Big no for me. Chintamani Dosa - We expected chintamani chicken stuffed in a dosa but it was like egg dosa with chintamani essence, irritating tomatoes and zero chicken piece. We ordered Mutton kola at the end, was good Dining area was bit noisy but you wont mind when you immerse yourself in tasting good food. People have wait to atleast 15mins to dine in.

I recently visited the famous Valarmathi mess in Coimbatore. I have tried mutton biriyani, chicken biriyani, nattu kozhi fry, kola urundai, and chicken 65. Mutton biriyani was the most flavorful biriyani that I ever had. It was a little busy. But I got served in 15 minutes. But it was worth waiting. I highly recommend Valarmathi Mess as a must-visit food destination in Coimbatore.

One of the best place for Non Veg dishes, Mutton, Chicken and Fish items are very tasty. All dishes are great. In certain place if you order side dish it will be for 2 people but here even on people can have it will not get wasted. A nice place to have south Indian kongu Nadu style food. Even though the price is higher, the taste of their food is just great. Very much satisfied. Need patience to get a seat during peak hours. It is famous for their variety of items hence the rush is also high.

Pichu potta kozhi is superb. All dishes like thalai curry, kudal curry, liver fry and brain fry are great. Biriyanis are just OK.

Today Took Parcell of Mutton Biryani and Liver Fry. Mutton Biryandi Quantity was Good for a person in Normal Hunger to Eat . The side dish of Onion Raitha and Kurum was Good and suited well . When comes to Taste the side dish tates better. The Biryani less spicy and was Little more Oily and the Piece in it was not worthy for the Cost and Rice was More. Liver Fry was in Good taste and Medium Spice. Here The quantity was less for the price we pay ( Compring the rate or Mutton and Liver)

Food is good. Very crowdy place. Not a family restaurant. Ambience not close to barbecue nation or annapoorna non-ac hall. Better to do take away rather to eat at this place. Due to peak crowd. Vegtarians excuse. Parking is another thing if you are coming by car.

The food is of great quality. There is no compromise when it comes to taste. It's a bit expensive, but it's worth it. The restaurant ambience is not something to be hyped about. The parking space is ample. The place is mostly crowded, so there is always a wait. There is an open kitchen right next to the entry so the preparation can always be seen. The service staff are good and efficient. The parcel orders are quick to dispatch. This restaurant is place for delicious and palatable food.

  • 4/5 Anitha R M. 2 years ago on Google
The place is quite small and overcrowded all the time. The minimum wait time is about 15 to 30 minutes on an average. The food is sumptuous and authentic. We enjoy their starters and parotta varieties just as much as we relish their biryanis. Gotta visit these place if you relish south Indian and chettinad varieties.

It is a good non veg restaurant in Race course... you can not find any other Kongu type of restaurants in this area and with an affordable price. There will be little bit crowd at evening and weekends. Service is to be improved while serving foods to the customers and handling crowds. Moreover, ambience is just like normal restaurant. If you are preferring NV, try this.

After hearing so much about this place, decided to go here on my wife's birthday on an unplanned visit to Coimbatore. It was around 12 KMS from the place we stayed. Reached there around 8 PM on a weekend and it was almost fully occupied. Managed to get 2 seats. Ordered Chicken Kari Dosa, Mutton Keema Balls aka Kola Urundai and Mutton Chukka. Chicken Kari Dosa : One of the best kari dosa we ever had. One mouth, and it was all worth the travel. Little crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside with full of flavours in every bite accompanied by 2 different gravies. Mutton Keema Balls(Kola Urundai) : Pretty good one, had better ones than this. No complaints. Tasted pretty good. Mutton Chukka : Tasted Decent, not too good to our liking. Service was quick and attentive. Cost of all 3 dishes came around 540 INR. Surely will come back here again to try other dishes. Unfortunately, we were very hungry and having toddler. So couldn't click pictures at that time. Next time will take pictures and add.

No frills , just great food to indulge in. Tucked away in a corner on a lane from race course road this nondescript joint is immensely popular with the locals. A bit of a challenge for groups of four or more to find a table during peak hours but the food is worth the wait. Authentic Chettinad cuisine and the seafood is quite popular here. A must visit for the foodies and certainly doesn't burn a hole in your pockets

Hall is good looking. And we can accommodate 50 to 60 people. But the dining hall is not looking great. And the cost part is too high. For veg meal they charged 400 rs. Which is not acceptable. Such a costly meal than a Annapoorna

  • 4/5 Anupe V. 2 years ago on Google
A wide variety of non vegetarian food on the menu. Mutton liver fry, mutton biryani, brain fry, "kalakki muttai", mutton chukka and an extensive array of free range chicken based dishes are some of the stars here. A tad heavy on the tummy, but very yummy! 👌🏽

  • 4/5 Raj J. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent preparation, tasty dishes but rice is very very poor. Why are they supplying 75% boiled rice?. Are they going to make a big profit out of it?. Charge some more and serve good rice. Why this compromise when the side dishes are good. The management has to think it over and supply fully boiled soft rice. I wish them all the best. 🙏

We Treid Non veg meals, Mutton Biriyani, Pichi Potta chicken, Mutton Balls, Mutton Chukka. The food was so good awsome taste. A must try food destination. Foods have authentic ethnic flavours. Go to the restaurant as early as possible around 12 pm or u want to wait outside in big queue.

I visited this place in week day and there is no crowd when i visited. The food is tasty and they are so good in their side dishes. I ordered one non veg meals with Mutton nalli and pepper brain fry. The meal is average only and really i enjoyed the mutton gravy. leanliness is decent enough to make you want to go back again. Moreover I have tasted their Mutton nalli and brain fry. The mutton nalli is one of the dish you guys have to must try in this mess. And the brain fry is average not upto the mark. The cost is little bit high but anyway that is worth for the quantity and quality of food. The restaurant is quite small but seats a lot in that space. You can plan accordingly for that especially in weekends. Cost of non veg meals : 120 Nalli fry : 250 Brain fry : 180

The place was packed when I arrived. Waited 10mins to find a place. The staff are courteous and greet with a smile all the time. Tried 6 items here and everything tasted just perfect. Place is all about food ignore ambience.

The place is always crowded and it's sometimes found unhygienic. The table cleaning could have been improved and waiting time is long. Importantly the taste of food is excellent and you need to get adjusted in sharing the table with other as well.

We really had a great experience trying out their special dishes. Chicken Thokku was super.. The meals one of the must try... Their biriyanis are delicious, tempting ones.. There was enough rush in the peak hours, but they manage it well and make the customers comfortable.. All-over it is one of the must try when visiting coimbatore.

I can totally understand why the place is always super busy. I have been here 3 times over the past year and i was not disappointed. Brain fry, Non veg meals, Mutton Nalli and Vanjaram Fry all are fantastic. Mutton Briyani wasnt as good as other items.

Best food at best price I knew this mess from day one of my life. Taste and service is always been the best. Yesterday it was so nostalgic to dine and cherish our memories with yum food in town. Kudos to the way they pack their takeaways with banana leaf and paper (please do continue as it’s good for health and environment).

A great place to taste the kongunadu style food menus. Overall a satisfied experience to hang with family dinner. The mentioned items in the menu are available and served on time. Taste and quantity was good. Usual wait will be there at peak hours. Good parking space around and easy to reach. A must try spot to dine with Family and friends at race course area.

Excellent food. Best option for local kongu cuisine. Extremely long waiting lines(speaks volumes of the amazing food).

  • 3/5 Villager 6 months ago on Google
Based on reviews from the Coimbatore Food Guide Facebook group, we visited the mess recently for dinner. It's worth the hype given on the reviews. A full, non vegetarian mess/ hotel with kongu taste. As a vegetarian, it has fewer options. Will be a little spicy. Was crowded during our visit and had wait time. Vehicles can be parked on the side of the road. They have an AC. whoever sits in the table near to it will feel very cold and food will get cold quickly. This is one disadvantage. Also, service could test your patience. Overall, it is a good non veg mess where one can satisfy taste and hunger. It's not a place where one can expect ambiance, great service, and other niceties. The food will be good here. It lives to its name MESS (not the negative MESS). While ordering through apps, they don't ensure the requested items. This is a real issue.

  • 5/5 Arun A. 4 months ago on Google
Its worth all the hype. Loved it. Food is traditional tamil nadu food. Its very crowded but managed very well ! So you can get a seat if you wait. Must try.

Great place for non veg lovers they have so many variety of dishes to order. It's a heaven for nonveg lovers. Parking space is available, so no issues for vehicle safety. As we where traveling from isha to bangalore and was wondering where to have lunch and searching in google and found this place with lots of good reviews. you may have to wait for the table as we visited around 3pm and we waited for 30min and it's worth waiting I can say.. overall good service, will definitely visit again
