Newfound Gap is the most visited place in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is the lowest point of the mountain range. The 31 mile long Newfound Gap is the lowest drivable pass in the park at 5046 feet elevation. We reached there in the afternoon. The stunning view left us absolutely speechless! There is a big parking lot with two levels. There is a stone made two-level memorial and overlook on one side. Newfound Gap should evryone's visiting list while visiting the NP.

Incredible views from the state line of NC and TN. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve made this drive I always have to stop and take pictures. So beautiful.

Stunning views. You get to stand in both Tennessee and North Carolina! Absolutely amazing spot for photos and you get to learn a little history while you’re there. Definitely recommend stopping if you’re in the area!

Absolutely stunning views. They have the history and this brick wall that you can walk to the top. Ând tons of places to pull off to hike or just see the beautiful mountains.

Getlinburg is known for it's beautiful mountains and scenic looks. There are many observation spots for viewing and capturing the amazing scenery. This one is very beautiful spot with plenty of parking space and lots of picturesque views. Stop by to get some amazing pics

The Tennessee North Carolina state lines. There are story boards with info about it's importance in travel. Climb up the stairs to the platform for the view. We were they only ones there for this magnificent sunset.

I have big goals and dreams of hiking the AT one day so when we stumbled upon newfound gap, I had to stop. There was lots of through hikers there and trail fairies with trail magic. That was awesome to see, I see pictures in the Facebook groups but to see it in real life was awesome. Even for a busy April afternoon there was plenty of parking and clean bathrooms.

This is practically where the Appalachian Trail begins in the south. In late November you want to wear heavier clothing, a hat and maybe even gloves. The temperatures fluctuate here quite a bit. If you want to take the Trail for a walk just know that it's physically demanding, and if you can't walk up the stairs without any trouble, don't get to far on the trail. That said, amazing experience, the air, the climb, the adventure. For sure will be back.
