Kalarivathukkal Temple dedicated to goddess Bhadrakali. Mother Goddess worshipped in the temple is carved out of jackfruit tree. The murti has a height of 4 feet. So for performing rites and rituals a Archana idol is used. The worship in the temple is based on Shaktism. Serene ambience with beautiful surroundings. Temple opens at 5:00AM to 1:00PM and 5:00PM TO 8:30PM.

I visited here to watch the ending of the theyyam festivals in north malabar regions. The temple itself is old and majestic. This temple is famous for this festival, crowd gathered here to witness the perfomance of theyyam artists on this day is an experience itself. If you want to enjoy the beauty of the temple it would be better to visit in other times than this season.

Bhadrakali Shrine located near Valapattanam river, is the family shrine of Chirakkal Royal Family. The deity of the shrine is the fierce form of Bhadrakali. Kalarivathukkal Bhagavathy is considered as the mother of the ancient martial art Kalarippayattu and hence the name. The shrine is administered by Malabar Devaswom Board and classified as Category A Temple of the board. Kalarivathukkal has come from the word Kalari Vaatilkal.

Here Bhagawati god Badrakali is main god which is worshiped. We all consider this temple powerful with attributes of Bhagawati. You can offer here prayers and in Prasadam meat is served here too. You can also offer prayers and get & tie Black strings in your Hand. It's located in 20 minutes drive from main Kannur city center.

I have been to many Kali temples but I have never seen a Kali with so much anger on her face. This is a true ugra devi. Her face has the expression seen in this smiley 😠 You can actually feel her wrath when you look at her face. If you do shatru samhara pooja and if she blessed you, then pity be your enemies. The priests in the temple were very proactive and helpful but i felt they were slightly angry and aggressive. You can feel her energy on the priests. You cannot see her face until you get up close to her. Even in the inner sanctum you need to bend down to get a glimpse of her face. Some poojas like Shakthi Pooja and Shatru samhara pooja you will get pepper chicken as prasadam along with another vegetarian prasadam. The mere fact that chicken is served as prasadam makes this temple tantric and hence fast acting. You can't enter the sanctum with pants. You need to wear a mundu or dhothi. You can get it from the near by shop but it is better to wear one from your hotel or home and visit the temple.

Kalarivathukkal Bhagavathi Temple is a true marvel and a cultural treasure trove situated in the beautiful state of Kerala, India. I had the privilege of visiting this sacred temple recently, and the experience was nothing short of awe-inspiring. One of the most striking aspects of the temple is its location. Nestled amidst picturesque landscapes and swaying coconut palms, the temple's surroundings create a serene and spiritually uplifting atmosphere. As soon as you step foot on the temple grounds, you are enveloped by a sense of tranquility and divinity. The temple's architecture is a sight to behold. The traditional Kerala style of architecture with its intricately carved wooden structures, sloping roofs, and exquisite artwork on the walls is a testament to the rich heritage of the region. The craftsmanship is remarkable, and every corner of the temple is adorned with symbols and motifs that hold deep spiritual significance. At the heart of the temple lies the presiding deity, Goddess Bhagavathi. The energy and aura surrounding the sanctum sanctorum are palpable, evoking a feeling of reverence and devotion. The temple priests are highly knowledgeable and friendly, guiding devotees through the rituals and explaining the significance of each custom. One of the highlights of the temple is the traditional art form called 'Kalaripayattu,' which is performed in the temple premises. Kalaripayattu is an ancient martial art unique to Kerala, and witnessing it in the temple's sacred setting is a rare and captivating experience. The graceful movements, skillful techniques, and synchronization of the performers leave spectators spellbound. The temple hosts several festivals throughout the year, and I was fortunate to witness one during my visit. The vibrant and colorful festivities, accompanied by traditional music and dance, offer a glimpse into Kerala's rich cultural heritage. The celebrations bring the local community together and create an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie. The temple's management deserves praise for its efforts in preserving the cultural and historical significance of Kalarivathukkal Bhagavathi Temple. The cleanliness and maintenance of the premises are commendable, ensuring that visitors can experience the divine ambiance without any distractions. In conclusion, Kalarivathukkal Bhagavathi Temple is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a profound spiritual experience and a deeper understanding of Kerala's cultural heritage. The temple's breathtaking architecture, divine energy, and cultural offerings make it a truly enriching and unforgettable journey. Whether you are a devotee or a traveler, this temple will leave an indelible mark on your heart and soul.

Amme narayana devi narayana 🙏. One of the oldest maa kaali temple in Malabar area. Easily accessible through public transport system. Can book the poojas via phone and collect the prasadam later. For shakthi pooja (which is famous) prasadam will be given after 12pm or evening 6.45 pm (not sure about this) only. So people who travelling from out stations, can book advance and collect the prasadam on time. We used to follow this schedule only. You can find out some more ancient and famous temples in this town.

Near the Highway between Valapattanam and Puthiyatheru. It is an ancient Hindu temple in Kannur, Kerala, dedicated to Bhagavati. The historical charm, with the Naga thara and the serene old pond, created a unique and spiritually enriching atmosphere. The intricate architecture and cultural significance make it a must-visit destination for those seeking a glimpse into the region's rich heritage.
