Interesting market to see how people trade in jade. Be sure to go before 10am to catch the action. There's a paid area for foreigners to enter and it is where the serious trading takes place. Bought myself some jade items at rock bottom prices, like a jade beaded bracelet at 5,000 ks. But in general, do not buy unless you have asked around a few stalls for price of same item and gotten a general feel of prices. And do not buy any expensive items unless you really know your stones. Some amber jewelry is sold here along with the jade. These are overpriced. The same amber bracelets are sold in Yangon at 10,000 Kyat, so be sure to bargain down the price.

It's worth strolling around for an hour or so in the market. They charge a small entry fee in the morning hours (when most of the activity is going on). If you're a penny pincher, go in the afternoon (less to see), or walk around the market, where you can also see people working on and trading with jade.

Interesting visit to know how jade is cut and transformed. Try to avoid eastern entrance where it's more probable that you have to pay 2500kyats. Western entrance is more likely unguarded

(Translated by Google) This place is a big market. As a Chinese to buy, the ticket needs 2,500. Some of us Chinese are charged in some, some are not, it seems that the appearance is very different. Here are some mediators who speak Chinese and can help you bargain. The general asking price is 5 million, and finally it is 1 million. Buy jade or you have to watch it yourself, and watch video on the Internet.

This is a market for raw jade to make items from. Most of what is found here cannot be exported due to embargoes over conflict jade. But an eye opening side to the jade trade you may not have known even existed.

I guessed it is not that suitable for consumer as the market is trading on raw Jade. We have no idea how to quantify the value or these stones.

Fun place to explore some local culture. If you but something, make sure to bargain. Got almost 50% discount on a jade necklace... it was supposed to be 100$ and I ended up paying 40€.

You can see the treasure of Myanmar(mostly Jade , a few gold smith and silver smith) here. But if you're afraid of the crowded, you can visit to other private shop instead of this. Note that the market closed in Sabbath day of Buddhist (Full-moon day, New moon day , 8 days after full moon and new moon days) , every four days in a month.

great experience! really recommend to visit, maybe dont go on a shopping spree unless you are very well informed on how to choose and value gems as you will get schooled. but still amazing to go and learn and experience, you can study lots from the locals on how to value jade but dont put your fresh knowledge to the test on a too high transaction as a couple of hours experience is not enough to really value gems. but the cheaper stones are still a great souvenir! even though its a jade market, you can even find the famous Myanmar Ruby there, but those are super expensive, and if they are not, they are probably of very very very low quality or have been chemically or heat treated to be more beautiful - there for value is even lower.

This is not a fair ladies and gentlemen tourists. (Original) Endroit incontournable à Mandalay. (Translated by Google) I liked seeing the dynamics of the sale of jade, from the rough stone, to the first jewelery. On the way you can see how the stones are cut, polished (handcrafted), choose and sell. The sellers are very friendly and explain how to distinguish the quality of the stones to the process that leads. It is also possible to find other precious stones such as sapphires and rubies It is a very photogenic place.

(Translated by Google) Great! A truly unique experience. A large part of the world's jade is traded here. In the untreated pebble to the perfectly crafted gem stone, solo or already taken. From very noble and expensive up to the simple souvenir everything is to be found here. And those who do not want to buy anything themselves will develop their great joy in the rain and bustle of the Burmese and Chinese people. Conclusion: must have seen when in Mandalay! (Original) Toll!
