For
some
days
now,
a
new
eatery
at
the
heart
of
north
Kolkata
has
become
the
holy
grail
to
the
food
loving
bengalis
-
#The_Chaiwala.
I
have
tasted
some
of
their
delicious
items
earlier
as
well.
So,
without
much
delay,
I
thought
to
write
about
them
here.
A
passive
desire
was
kept
on
coming
to
me
from
the
last
couple
of
days
to
get
a
old
school
nostalgic
feeling
of
this
place
near
the
Star
theatre
at
Hatibagan.
I
have
been
here
before
also
a
few
times
–
a
small
cozy
place
reminiscing
the
centuries
old
north
Kolkata
vibe,
soft
house
music
in
the
background,
every
smiling
cordial
behaviour
of
the
staffs
–
what
else
do
we
want
from
a
leisure
filled
evening.
Variety
in
their
menu
is
quite
diverse
–
spanning
from
waffles,
pan
cakes,
pasta,
spaghetti
to
deserts,
frappe,
tea,
coffee
and
mocktails.
This
has
to
be
an
ideal
place
for
a
high
calorie
evening
snack.
So,
one
fine
evening,
after
the
office,
I
found
myself
in
front
of
The
Chaiwala
with
my
very
own
partner
in
(eating)
crime.
We
had
ordered
Smoked
Pork
and
Bacon
Grilled
Sandwich,
Fries
with
Cheese
and
Bacon
and
Pea-ca-cho
Frappe.
Didn’t
have
to
wait
long
to
get
them
on
our
table.
Our
pure
meat
loving
souls
were
wondering
a
bit
after
seeing
some
greens
in
the
sandwich
(although
it
had
reduced
the
guilt
of
such
a
high
calorie
intake).
But
the
filing
of
pork
and
bacon
was
in
such
a
quantity
that
it
tamed
our
hungry
souls
in
no
time
and
have
completely
blown
our
minds.
We
couldn’t
even
realise
when
the
fries
was
over
while
we
were
chit-chatting.
The
combination
of
french
fries
and
tomato
sauce
never
seemed
to
get
old.
Along
with
that
cheese
dipped
french
fries
and
bacon
were
so
well
cooked
and
tasty,
that
they
were
just
melting
in
the
mouths.
We
were
at
cloud
nine
by
then.
And
last
but
not
the
least,
we
moved
towards
the
Pea-ca-cho
frappe.
This
immensely
tasty
frappe
was
made
from
peanut
butter
and
chocolate
chips
with
some
whipped
cream
on
top.
We
both
have
enjoyed
it
to
the
last
drop.
It
will
be
a
sin
to
count
calories
while
enjoying
the
nice
evening
at
The
Chaiwala.
Although
the
place
is
a
bit
expensive
serving
such
high
calorie
snacks,
you
will
get
satisfied
for
sure.
The
evening
was
well
spent.
We
will
definitely
visit
The
Chaiwala
again
and
again
to
experiment
with
their
variety
of
other
dishes.
P.S.
This
post
would
be
incomplete
without
the
mention
of
this
one
more
item
-
Belgian
Waffle
with
Chocolate
Sauce
and
Ice
Cream.
This
is
a
heavenly
dish.
We
were
about
to
jump
on
it
with
knife
and
fork
as
soon
as
it
had
arrived
on
our
table.
But
taking
a
photo
is
a
must,
right
?
A
couple
of
waffles
layered
with
Belgian
chocolate
and
having
a
snow
white
vanilla
ice
cream
scoop
on
top.
It
didn’t
end
there,
to
fill
our
souls
with
more,
there
was
chocolate
sauce
as
topping.
Our
heart
cheered
with
“aah
haa”
as
soon
as
we
saw
the
dish.
When
the
ice
cream
was
melting
down
over
the
waffles
and
chocolate
and
was
slowly
dripping
on
the
sides
of
the
plate
–
our
mind
was
also
getting
melted
along
with
it.
The
combination
of
hot
and
crispy
chocolate
dipped
waffle
and
vanilla
ice
cream
had
surely
and
truly
made
us
its
die
hard
fan.
The
taste
is
so
unimaginable
and
unforgettable,
your
mind
will
definitely
reach
the
la
la
land.
