I stumbled upon the place through google. None of my extensive research mentioned this place. After saying my fajr prayer at the nakhoda masjid, I searched for breakfast places open at the hour. 5 am! And this came up at the top of the list! I walked there and found a sizeable crowd already gathered around the shop and having breakfast! Motorcycles and cars abound. I have almost always had horrible experience with the places suggested by respected bloggers. This place, my find (😎), was, on the other hand, absolutely amazing! I had malai toast, corn-cheese sandwich and the tea. If you’re a health buff, ask them not to add sugar on the malai, but do have this. It’s beautiful. Combination of hot toast and cold malai somehow complements each other pretty well. The corn-cheese sandwich is absolutely gorgeous as well. About the tea: one of the best I have ever had in Kolkata. Second only to my favorite chawala in Dhaka. I know it’s a famous place in Kolkata, but as a tourist, I just loved the find!

its a small tea shop (dukan) in a corner (kona) of a street beside calcutta stock exchange and writers building and hence the name kona dukan. the place has an awesome atmosphere in the morning, buzzing mainly with morning walkers and also college students. The place opens fairly early by 5AM and by 10, almost all the crowd is gone. i tried the club kachori and malai toast... and both of them were quite good. bread was topped with sugar and club kachori sabji was also good. Overall a good experience.

Tucked on a road corner, on the back street of Writers Building, this is a nice place to snack. Surprisingly popular among office goers and casual visitors, this joint serves tasty food like lassi, sandwiches, samosa, idli and dosa. Crispy butter/malai toast with tea is highly recommended.

Food quality is good. Service is nice and fast.. Place is usually crowded but you don't have to wait for your seat. The seating method is unique and cool. Best place to chill with friends, family and friends for breakfast and evening snacks. Parking facility is available and free.

Kona Dukan has become one of my favourite place for 'Cha-Addas'! Tea tasted fantastic to say the least. Even the Malai toast we had was simply buttery smooth. It was damn crowded but they arranged huge seatings. Car parking was available on the road but it was jam-packed. Anyway, a Sunday morning breakfast here is really recommended.

There are some local places that are popular more for the ambience and the nostalgia for local population and that’s what I thought Kona Dukaan is. We had chai in kullad (earthen glass) and the famous Malai toast which was melt in the mouth. But just the experience of sitting on the street at 7am and chomping on chai toast was amazing! I’m sure the rest of the food is good too. The staff is very warm and friendly!

An absolute icon of a place. Every single thing we tried was amazing! Their chaa is a must have, tasted amazing. Their singhara is an actual, real singhara which again, we LOVED. Tried their lassi as well which was also creamy and lush, must try! The star of the day was however, their malai toast, omg, so simple yet so decadent, loved!

I have heard many times about them, But did not understand until I reach there. It was havly crowded and they were very busy. Service was not bad. Every single thing was amazing. ' Kona Dukan ' is one of the famous food paradise indeed. Buttery smooth "Malai toast", "Kesar tea", soothing"Lassi" are excellent. But they had a huge heap of bread, so I decided to test their 'corn cheese sandwich'. There was also "sabji kachori", " Dosa ", and " mini samosa ", so I had to test them too. Their price was reasonable, not much. One thing I greatly appreciated that their ambiance, which existed "foodi ". Hope to visit them soon again.

Good place for breakfast... I tried lassi, cheese veg sandwich, butter toast, and milk tea. It was fine. But they charged 185 rupi for all these.. That feels a bit expensive in a street shop in Kolkata.

One of the popular breakfast points of Kolkata, just opposite to Calcutta Stock Exchange. Their Sezuan Dosa is something I never had before, and can totally vouch for. Club Kachoris are ok. The cheese corn sandwiches are pretty tasty! And the final was Malai Toast.. Butter on toast with a spread of Malai and sprinkle of sugar. Simple, yet so satisfying! And add tea to the list too!

Amazing food with lots of varieties. We visited for morning breakfast at around 8am on Saturday. It was very crowded. Staff arranges for chairs and tables. Finding a parking spot can be a hassle sometimes. We tried toast butter, malai bread, tawa idly fry, mini samosa, corn cheese sandwich, kachori sabzi, schezwan cheese dosa and kesar chai. Kesar chai is amazing and a must try πŸ˜‹

Probably the best Chai Sutta place to visit early morning. The place opens from 5 am. The tea is perfect here. Not much sugar, not much milk, perfect blend. Your morning tastebuds would really love this tea. The price is okay at its quality pov. The big tea costs about 40 Rs. You can get sandwiches and special dosa even at this early hours. The cheese masala schezwan dosa was really tasty. And the red chutney they provide with dosa is mesmerising. There is sitting arrangements here. Its an open place with quite a good ambience. A must visit for chai lovers specially during sunrise.

This place is crowded by local morning walkers. But this crowded vibe is enjoyable. Food is good. Tea is lovely. No provision for public toilet in this area. Car and bike parking is available along with the road.

The moment one enters the lane leading to Lalbazar, there are a bunch of shops on both sides of the street, all eager to serve customers. But one can't miss the guys from Kona dokan who are dressed in red tees with the name of their shop proudly occupying the backside of the tee. They lead you to the end of the land which is where this iconic outlet is located. The malai sandwich here tastes heavenly since both the bread and malai is fresh. I tried out their chili cheese toast, which they customized for me without capsicum. The cheese was tasty and the sandwich that came with ketchup and chilli sauce almost melted in my mouth. They hardly take 5-8 minutes to serve though every item is freshly prepared. I couldn't stop myself from trying out their singaras which tasted heavenly. Saw a few people eat club kachoris and a man order dosa too. They serve kesar tea, which tasted fab. There are a number of chairs for customers to seat in front of the shop and around it. I sat inside the car parked beside the shop and savored the food. However, the prices are slightly on the higher side compared to other iconic outlets in similar settings.

Average. Not up to the mark as per hype. I had lassi which is over priced as per the quality and quantity they provided. I had Malai toast which was good I would say. The bread was fresh n so was the Malai but again not worth that hype.

A cozy little street corner shop which dishes out tasty food. One however should be willing to sit on plastic chairs on a road corner amongst bustling traffic

Sandwich with malai and sugar. The loaf of bread was so good, mind-boggling it was, totally fresh, reminded me of the freshness from my younger years There was a person from the shop who served us right from when we took a turn into the street till we left Tea with kesar, real kesar, fantastic aroma in an earthen pot I have tried these two, and it is a must visit place if you want to experience the old Kolkata Of course there was the kolkota stock exchange which is now defunct, but it was reminiscent of the old days

Kona Dukan in Kolkata Stock Market area has its unique vibe that has now because a morning breakfast attraction for people all across the country. The servie there is not exceptionally quick but they treat you with utmost importance and are always on their feet to get you your food as quick as possible. The street style eating atmosphere is something very subjective to people's likings but to those who enjoy going out with family and having a love chit chat session over food this is a must visit place.

Don't let this small roadside shop fool you by it's modest appearance. For the foods that you're going to have will blow your mind. The malai toast is one of the best I've ever had. Also the kesar tea is pretty good too(though the price of tea is a bit on the higher side :-( , Rs 70 ). The lassi and the cheese corn sandwich are pretty good too.

😐 Simply come here for the atmosphere and history. Nothing should be eaten here. Cold coffee was a letdown. It was cold water that had been sweetened with a pinch of coffee.
