Perfect ambience for a dinner. The dimly lit effect of trees by the blue water makes it feel so serene, the warmth of Taj hospitality can't keep you asking for more. The options of grills rock totally if you choose the right marinade and the sauce that suites your taste buds. Have indulged in Thai curries but the Penang curry here was totally out of the world and richly added with vegetables. You might find it a little sweeter than Thai curries but to me it was just so perfect. What more to say! You have to go there once atleast to pamper your taste buds luxuriously.

Visited for a family lunch. I hoped Cal27 is as good as Sonargaon. I had the worst experience ever with Taj. I had an ala-kart several times at Sonargaon so my expectations were obviously high and it was a devastating situation for me. I literally repent after having my lunch over there. I love the live counter and the stuff. Although there are so-called ‘magicians’ who will be there to greet you, don’t fall into the trap. They are supposed to visit at the peak time of lunch so that they can waste your lunch time. Politely deny that will be my tip. The desert section was horrible for me. It’s like the pastries you see at mio amore and some fruit cakes were there. Key takeaways- Try chat & waffle. Avoid any magic shows so that you can save time. Charges- 2655/- (including taxes) Definitely not worth it. I would recommend you to visit Sonargaon.

Didn’t enjoy the buffet. Was a Waste of Money. Not much options. Didn’t expect this kind of service from a 5star restaurant. The waiter didn’t pay any attention to the guests. Wanted to order Mocktail that too was unavailable.

Cal 27 is the restaurant serving Bengali, Continental & Pan Asian Cuisines at Taj Bengal, Kolkata Taj Bengal is located just opposite to Alipore Zoo near PTS Crossing and needs no certain description about its grandeur or services. There are 4 different speciality restaurants out of which Cal27 is a buffet serving the different cuisines. Rates accordingly to 5-star category are relatively decent but honestly speaking, food was not at all embarking. Also the service was not at par as it would be in a 5-star. Infact, I have tried and tasted twice to thrice by visiting their buffet, few of the items are blunt and not of premium quality as it should be. I don't want to blemish as negativity but this buffet is actually in my secondary list Overall, I would like to honest expect that Taj Bengal would look into this affair so as to improve their quality and remarks as one of the good going 5-star in this competitive food industry though they can comfort with their namesaken fan base !!

NEVER, NEVER go to Cal 27. The worst buffet restaurant in the city. I went for dinner buffet with lots of hope of Taj, but things changed as soon as I walked in. The menu items are too less, even lesser than the items available in a marriage ceremony. The quality of food is third class and against which they are charging ₹2301 for each person including GST. For this price it's better to visit Hyatt or JW. The staffs are well behaved and they ask for any help like every 10 minutes which is good. Rest, the interior of Taj Bengal is mind-blowing. You will fall in love instantly. The building is hugh and has lots of photogenic portion to capture. During pick hours, parking is a headache.

I went for the Cal 27 Dinner Buffet. Food was lovely! Service was amazing too! The variety of food was splendid. I enjoyed everything, especially Thai Curry, Mutton, Pasta and the Salami platter. Desserts were also upto the mark. A small bird 🐦 cupcake was made, super cute and creative. Overall, a wonderful experience. Wish to have a feast again at Cal 27 👑❤️

Cal 27 is the third avataar of the All day dining of Taj Bengal. It's done beautifully and influences of a North Calcutta house with touches of European architecture just make it so refreshing and elegant. It has windows above on all sides which resembles as if the centre is an Aangan or the central courtyard of the house. The breakfast buffet is great with all the regular offerings of Fruits, juices, shakes, healthy foods, Breads, Eggs, Bengali breakfast like Loochi and Aloo. Cold cuts and cheeses are great too. Do try their special Egg white fluffy omelette, it's one if a kind. We also ordered in room dining which again comes from the same kitchen and lived their Kebabs and the Pizza at the same time. Service is friendly but gets a bit busy during breakfast which is obvious.

Wonderful ambiance. Excellent food. We usually go to Sonargaon, this time we tried Cal-27. Cozy and not too crowded. Nevertheless the same elegant service and great food. Special thanks to Param, she made our lunch so much enjoyable with her suggestions. Keep up the great work Param. We will definitely be back.

I've been coming to Taj Bengal, specifically the buffet at Cal 27 (previously the hub and Esplanade) for 30 years. I've been out of town for a bit and decided to come back here for nostalgia's sake with my folks. Oh how the mighty have fallen! The service was non existent, confusing and messy. We had no attentive waitstaff and those who we asked questions had no idea how to answer them. The manager never even seated us and asked us to find our own tables and there was no warm goodbye as they usually do. They have reduced the food options. Earlier, the charcuterie options were endless and varied, during Christmas, they usually had a whole suckling pig and a chocolate fountain. None of that! It's all reduced down to generic north Indian food. I'm done with my nostalgia and will never visit again. I think that they've been unable to keep up with the new competition in town. Sad!

Cal 27 is one of the best restaurants in Kolkata. However, not many know it is also the best choice for people with lactose intolerance, gluten intolerance and celiacs. I have been to many restaurants in Kolkata but have always ended up with a gluten accident, as proper care was not taken. This is a place you can trust completely. Food- I was told they could prepare anything for me as per my health preference and there was no limit to the options. I ordered Grilled Fish, Herb Rice and a brownie. Food was 10/10 in taste, texture and flavor. Service- The catering assistant Nizamuddin Ahmed took extra care from the moment we called Cal 27 to inquire if it is gluten and lactose free friendly restaurant. He cleared all my queries patiently and provided the best service while dinning. His positive and friendly attitude added to our experience. In fact, the entire catering team at the restaurant was very careful and responsible about gluten cross contamination. Chef - I would want to extend a special gratitude to the Chef Susovan Chakroborty. He was very compassionate, responsible, and caring through out my dinning experience. The Chef ensured each and everything was cooked from scratch using fresh utensils and special care was taken to avoid any cross contamination. It was refreshing to have a Chef who was well versed about celiac or food intolerances, and I did not have to explain the smallest detail. Chef Chakraborty was very kind and thoughtful to offer a lactose free and glutenfree dessert even before I placed an order for the same. Cost - Value for money! My experience here was amazing especially because of Mr. Nizamuddin Ahmed and Chef Susovan Chakraborty. A special thank you to the entire team of Taj for an easy and relaxing experience.

Food was good. All-day dining is no longer an accurate description since it closes at 11.30pm.Service around 11pm was skeletal, with just one junior server, who told us the bar would close at 11.30pm, but did not clarify that the kitchen would close as well at the same time. I have been visiting the Taj for the last 30 -odd years and the Esplanade/Hub (the precursors of Cal-27) were 24/7 restaurants. I was rather shocked that the Taj isn't operating a 24/7 unit anymore. It felt frankly bizarre to leave without dessert just because our server wasn't bothered to inform us when the kitchen closed.

Except for the desserts, baked fish and shrimp from the Grill by the Pool, it was a tad disappointing for me this time. At a weekend Brunch, was expecting a much better spread. My experience at The Hub (when it was operating)was better. It was funny to see the people struggling hard to keep their conversation going because of very loud music. Not taking away any credit from the musician, she afterall, was trying her best to spread cheer around but after a point, it felt like noise. I had to stop talking and concentrated on the food instead🙂. It was a mix of continental and indian food - liked the roghan gosht. Magicians managed to keep you engrossed. Staffs were attentive and courteous.

It is a very nice place. We went for buffet and the hospitality and food both were very good. Ms. Roshni came to the table to show some beautiful magics and it was very much refreshing and entertaining

We went for a lunch buffet. Positive: ambience is good. Service is GREAT. This is signature for any Taj property, you rarely hear someone say "NO" to any of your request. The service team streatch themselves to fulfill your request. Improvement areas: food quality and spread. If they compare with the similar resturants of other similar catagory hotels, the spread is quite thin and in many dishes are not upto the mark. A serious area of concern : when we reached the portico, found the wheelchair ways was blocked by parking hotel car and it took quite some time for the vallet and the gateman to request the driver to move the car to clear the wheelchair passage.

Great ambience is the first impression about this place. Live music is good and the buffet spread is good and lip smacking. The staff is polite and prompt. Sunday’s they serve only buffet no Alacart orders are taken. The place has lived by its rating of 4.5 stars. They do have a magician who occasionally visits the tables and entertains you while you wait for the food to arrive. Overall a satisfactory experience .

Grill by the Pool is what I experienced yesterday at Taj Bengal, Kolkata! A fantabulous property with a vibrant ambiance, decor & vibe coupled with a classy poolside seating area, a live grill counter and soothing music is what this royalty is all about! Delicious grilled delicacies paired with wine says it all about the Grill by the Pool! Be it a date, a family dinner or a hangout destination with buddies, this place is where you should be this winters! Tried some of Chef's specially curated dishes which turned out to be extremely soulful! Loved everything about the place : the excellent hospitality, wonderful feel of the place along with the poolside charm followed by the mesmerizing food & beverages! Loved it, completely! Highly Recommended.

The place looks pretty and you can see it as soon as you enter Taj Bengal. We had ordered for penne arrabiatta it was really good. The pizzas were good too ☺ We ordered for tiramisu in dessert and it was perfect. The breakfast buffet that they have in the morning is really good with lots of variety as in any 5 star buffet, and they also served hot cutting chai, the way they get it in wire stand gives you the same feeling of a cutting chai 🙂

😐 Simply come here for the atmosphere and history. Nothing should be eaten here. Cold coffee was a letdown. It was cold water that had been sweetened with a pinch of coffee. The fish kaviraji was satisfactory. Despite the fact that there is a no-smoking sign on the premises, I observed people smoking...

👍👍 Recently visited this place and trust me, it was worth every penny. The ambiance was great. We had Mutton Chello Kebab. The kebabs were very juicy and tender, I couldn't stop drooling!
