The Directorate of State Archives, located at 43 Shakespeare Sarani,Kolkata-700017. staffs behavior is really appreciable. If you want to go there from Howrah station take a bus to Mullick bazar. from there 4 to 5 minute walk. If you are looking for old voter list namely 1968 then it's the right place. But at present they are not giving any services related to voter list. All services will resume after 2021 election.

Documents are preserved here but a veil censorship is there

This is the place where most of the documents, correspondence and other paperwork of some significances or importance are stored as record, by the State Government. I wonder if the files related to the mysterious disappearance of Netaji, are preserved here and are not being declassified for vested interest groups.

W.B Govt Archive is having very good facilities for those who want to go through historical documents. It has other sections in college street and in old Secretariat building.

Existence of this State Establishment at this location is confirmed. As an Archive, its appropriate category should be other than a Museum.
