One of the best place to have south indian food. Service was very fast. Food came in 15-20 mins of ordering. The seating place was neat and clean. The quantity is enough to make one full. I tried plain cheese uttapum with 2 bowls of complimentary jain style sambar daal and 1 bowl of coconut chutney. It was worth the Rs 175 price i paid for. My mother had plain dosa which was super big. Though it looks normal in the picture. But it has 3-4 folds inside which makes it super big. Overall a great experience. Will visit again soon 😊

This is a pure vegetarian restaurant and they have done a good job creating a niche in non-vegetarian Kolkata. Dosa is awesome and you must not miss their chatni. Small menu good food great experience.

If you are looking for a South Indian Dish Restaurant then this is the place. Banana Leaf, this is the best Traditional South Indian Joint in the city. This is a good place for dining out. Probably one of the best South Indian Restaurants that serve quality as well as authentic South Indian Cuisines. A great variety of Dosas available here. The ambience is very good in here and maintain top quality hygiene. As usual I eat a lots of Dosas so I ordered 1 Curd Vada 1 Paper Butter Masala Dosa 1 Mysore Butter Masala Dosa 1 Anti Colada You can also hop in for a quick evening tea or black tea break here.

Outstanding South Indian food — they’ve been at it for somewhere around 100 years and it shows. Dosa and vada were excellent as was the filter coffee.

This is best Traditional South Indian Joint in the City and its live up to its expectations fully. If you love, or would like to have South Indian food and looking for some place then this is the best place. As I used to eat lot of South Indian foods since 2010 so i have lil bit of idea about it. I ordered 1 classic Vestal Mojito 1 Mysore ButterMasala Dosa 1 uttapam platter Cooked was more or less perfect spices are very good. Just 1 thing i don't like that is quantity was so small and price to quantity ratio can disappoint you. That's it for this one, will comeback with another review very soon. Till stay safe eat healthy.

Banana leaf has been a culinary heritage since 1937.. If you are looking for a pure south Indian Restaurant with an authentic touch..then this is the place for you guys..this is the best Traditional South Indian Joint in the city of joy.. I'm saying it again.."The best".. This is a good place for dining in, though it's cozy as mentioned by a lot of reviewers..but still the service drops a really happy smile whenever u visit this place..the quality they provide is a definite gem on its own..probably one of the best Restaurants that serve quality as well as authentic South Indian Cuisines. A great variety of Dosas available here with lots of variety in the option menu! Definitely visiting again...

The refurnished/refurbished facility has more tables and chairs. Having earned a reputation for serving authentic south indian delicacies to the Kolkata community for decades, taste for most of the items stay intact. Several awards adorning the walls are a testament. I recall a time when morning joggers and walkers used to assemble for their adda over a cup of steaming coffee every day... Separate counters for takeaway, billing, ice cream, coffee/tea that used to be a bother earlier doesn't exist. Makes the eating place a little less noisy. Thali continues to satiate the pallette and stomach. With three veggies, papadam, rasam, sambar, unlimited servings ... Desert Kesari could have been better. Leftovers from breakfast probably.. Don't forget to try their coffee... Service could improve significantly. Even water was served after three prompts...not many patrons around... Overall, the tradition continues...

I recently dined at Banana Leaf South Indian Restaurant in Kolkata and was thoroughly impressed by the delicious food and warm hospitality. The restaurant offers a variety of South Indian dishes, including authentic and flavorful dosa, idli, and vada. The service was fast, and the staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. The ambiance was cozy and pleasant, making for a great dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend Banana Leaf to anyone looking for delicious South Indian food in Kolkata.

It's an amazing south indian restaurant serving dosas pongal idli sambar podi and what not. As a dosa lover I want it to be crisy and thin and sambar just little bit tangy and thicker than rasam. This restaurant met my expectations and even higher. I tried ghee roast masala, sambar , idli , butter masala, paper thin and podi masala dosas P.s now if ur visiting for first time and want to fall in love with this place then try ghee roast masala dosa or podi masala dosa and to end ur perfect meal try their iconic filter coffee One more thing is u can try their south indian thali but it's quite big and u can't share it with other person

One of the best for South Indian food in South Kolkata. Their price justifies both the quantity and quality of food. Last time I visited on 4th July 2021 previous week, I felt the ghee roast dosa was bit more salty. Sambar is less of South Indian but has more of a kolkata touch to it. Rest food was as usual at their best

Great South Indian food available, the restaurant is clean and staffs are good. When ordered online food is provided pretty fast with proper packaging which is a very convenient way during a pandemic situation. Location of the shop is good too, parking though may be a little bit of difficulty if you come during regular rush hours.

After a long time, we ate superb dosas at Banana leaf. My partner's was Mysore masala dosa, and mine was sada dosa. Some days ago we ate dosas at Haldiram that were hideous! These dosas gave us peace! 😌😌😌 And that fresh lime soda man! That was hea-ven-ly.

Situated opposite Lake Mall/ Market and attached to Komala Vilas Guest House, this restaurant serves South Indian cuisine all day. We went there for the South Indian Meal but was informed that it is not available/discontinued till further notice. We ordered * Mysore Masala Dosa * Cheese Dosa * Onion Masala Dosa. Dosas were served fairly quickly with Sambar, Coconut chutney and a Tomato Garlic chutney. The Dosa could have been crispier and the Aloo Masala filling slightly more flavour packed but overall, a good Dosa. The Tomato Garlic chutney complimented well with everything.

Pretty neat little restaurant. We had a selection of South Indian food which were all scrumptious. Presentation was cool as it came out on banana leaves. Portion sizes were also decent. Highly recommended if your in the area and keen on a vegetarian meal.

If you're hungry and craving for some delicious South Indian dishes, you must visit this place. They have amazing ambience. They have tables for couples as well as family and friends. They have a lot of items in option. They serve really quick with a smile. They maintain the hygiene in the place. They serve quality food at reasonable price. What else do we want? Even if you're not that hungry, you can go for a snack too. If you love South Indian dishes, you should visit this place once. And if you don't like South Indian, you must visit this place, you'll start loving it...

Definitely above average. Predominantly South Indian menu. Different kinds of tea available. For quick service of coffee / tea there are tables in non-A/c spaces. Simple, clean, quiet ambience. Good cooking. Courteous staffs. Recommended.

Located opposite to lake mall, this joint serves primarily south Indian food, beverages and a selection of mocktails. We tried the podi masala Dosa, podi butter masala Dosa, paper masala Dosa, onion tomato uttapam and the Mysore masala Dosa. The podi dosas have the podi powder which is quite tasty and the Mysore masala Dosa have the masala paste which in my opinion was better. The paper Dosa is a long paper thin Dosa and the uttapam too is very tasty and filling. In pic: filter coffee

Banana leaf in Komala Vilas is must visit if you are willing to taste the authentic south Indian food like dosa, uttapam. They have a wide range of multiple varities of dosa and varities of vegetarian dishes . We had a paper masala dosa costs around Rs 200. The taste and quantity is awesome. This pure vegetarian restaurant just opposite of Lake mall, is a must visit place.

Good food, but as I'm quiet regular I tend to find fauls at time's. Though nothing major, but the lasoon chutney seems to always be sour and not tasty at all. It's been there from day 1.apart from that the food is always good and fulfilling to heart and budget.

Banana leaf as we already know it as a very nice place for South Indian food but I first time tried at Kolkata. It's very near to Kalighat metro station towards Gariahat. Walking distance only. Very good options for Dosa, sambhar wada, idli, mocktails, shakes, ice honey lemon tea, strawberry shake, Mysore masala Dosa if looking for bit spicy. Everything was fresh and tasty. Service very good. Sitting area quiet comfortable. Nice place for quick bite and with friends and family. Many options for kids also. Can ask for extra Sambhar and chutney. Food on banana leaf looks nice.

Great South Indian food. Food is fresh and tasty. The filter coffee is really authentic. A great, tasty variety of dosas are available here. Good for groups. Single customers tend to feel awkward here.

Location: Opposite footpath of Lake Mall, short walk from Kalighat metro. Ambience: Simple tables, looks very clean, clean hand-wash area with liquid soap. Service: Very prompt, ready to serve second helpings of sambar and chutneys. Ordered: * Cheese Podi Dosa: crispy dosa smeared with lot of cheese and podi masala on the inside, served with thick coconut chutney, flavourful tomato chutney, hot sambar, very tasty. Rs 215. * Filter Coffee: typical South Indian coffee served in the traditional way, nice aroma of fresh coffee, stimulating. Rs 50. Moderate pricing, excellent food quality. Overall, highly recommended!
