It was such a great experience. Perfect place to celebrate Durga Puja with exquisite Bengali thali. We ordered seafood thali, it was delicious but didn't like all the fish items, can't remember the name but one item I didn't like.It's unlimited, and the best thing is that they always serve hot food properly. It costs 3500 + 18%tax ( sea food thali)

Our Anniversary celebrations were made special by the staff at Taj, they arranged for Cakes and Flowers for us to make our experience a memorable one. Its these small gestures that go a long way in terms of customer delight, I'm happy that we went to Sonargaon. Good food, good vibes and good hospitality. Nafisa attended to us and she was top class in terms of service.

Visited Sonargoan, Taj Bengal, for a family dinner. We had made prior reservations for the same. The staff are very courteous and all of the staff were maintaining Covid Protocols and wearing necessary protections for that. The menu can be accessed by scanning the QR code present on the table. For the starters we had Kuta Mirch Methi Paneer Tikka and Dahi ke seekh kebab, served with mint chutney. The taste was amazing but the quantity could have been more, according to me. For the Main Course, we had : Dum ka paneer, Gucchi(morel) Kumbh(mushroom) pyaz wala, Dal Sonargoan (Dal bhukara), Garlic Naan and Warqi paratha (loved this 1). The main course was fantastic and the quantity was satisfactory as well. To end our meal we had the Banarasi Lassi, which was packed with saffron and served with Rabri.. It was really nice. All in all we had a great time there. Will surely visit again.

Great Indian food here. Must try kaali dal. The Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve kebabs that are flambéed at the table are a must!

We had gone to Taj Bengal for lunch, and were recommended Sonargaon by the staff there. The restaurant offers Indian cuisine, specialising in Bengali food. We chose the latter. The food was delicious. Couple that with the typical 'gram bangla' decor, it was a once in a lifetime experience. We ordered à la carte and he quantity was more than adequate. The cost overall was less than a typical buffet. The staff was very warm and welcoming. Everyone wore masks and the place is kept spick and span. We had the opportunity of meeting the chef, and he was as humble as can be. Overall, 6 stars out of 5.

We specifically wanted to taste biriyani at the Taj. First things first you will not find the "Kolkata" style biriyani here with the absolutely mandatory aloo and egg that we have grown up with. My only request is to please introduce this darling of biriyani lovers from Kolkata!! Thd Awadhi style biriyani has more spices so if you are looking for it go on try it. One portion is more than sufficient for two people and would cost around INR1600.The raita accompanying the biriyani is really nice! That apart the gondhoraj beckti kebabs are absolutely recommended and so is the nolen gur icecream and rasamalai prices around INR600. The quality of martini and margaritas is top notch. Did not enjoy the chewy experience of Lamb Rann. Also highly recommend booking a table in advance as the place receives a flow of diners specially on weekends. You would definitely love the decor and the staff service here. Indulge with family and friends as the ambience would probably not attract solo diners.

Very wonderful experience I had yesterday. This was our first visit .. The quality and quantity both looks very good to me … Since this is Bengal’s heritage Traditional hotel so the royal ambiance always eye catching…Restaurant staffs were very friendly and prompt on providing servicing.. I am impressed and I will recommend everyone to try this place at-least once so that you can have royal experience in life .

Yesterday i went there for dinner with my niece and cousins to celebrate her birthday. The ambience, the decor everything was good. The staffs are very welcoming, very much pleased with their behaviour and approach. They took care of everything we mentioned for our dinner. The quality and quantity of food served was good. Though the place is very far from my place still i want to visit this place again. And i will recommend everyone to visit this place at least once and and to avoid waiting prebook your table.

On the occasion of my Birthday on 4th September, I alongwith my Wife and daughter had a Dinner at your Restaurant. In my opinion Sonargaon Restaurant at Taj Bengal is among the best for sumptuous Indian Dishes. The Atmosphere was Excellent, Food was Very Good and the Service was also very Good. We enjoyed the Experience and would again like to visit the place.

We booked our dinner at Sonargaon (Bengali and Mughlai Cuisine). Food was awesome. Worth the price. Will definitely visit again. Request you all food lovers to visit at least once in your life. Please dont abuse the price. Remember its The Taj.

Love the ambience. Simple yet sophisticated. Cosy place to dine with just your partner and even the entire family. Celebrations of life events too is a good idea. Food is excellent, friendly staff , peaceful environment. Captured some muahroom shots on the parking lot. No valet parking available right now due to covid situation. All required safety precaution in place. Clean warm plates, steel glass for water and disposable bamboo spoon and fork. 5 star from my end.

Excellent fine dining experience.worth every penny..

Extremely disappointed in the food quality. Hardly any flavor, meal was cold, things were just haphazardly done. Been eating here since childhood but it has been a couple years since I visited the place. 7 of us ate dinner and left completely dissatisfied including my 9 year old nephew. Yes we did give feedback to management after meal was over. Hope things change. Very sad. Service was average at best. Not what we expect from Taj.

I celebrated my dad’s milestone birthday at Sonargaon today and was very impressed with the quality of food, service and the overall rustic ambience of Sonargaon!

The finest Indian restaurant in Kolkata. The Bengali dishes selection is sumptuous. Rustic decor, and earthen vibes.

Fantastic food. Wider varieties. Polite staff. Centrally located. Impressive interior. Reasonable price. Magnificent food tasting. VALUE for money. Decent place excellent service.

Restaurant located at Taj Bengal Alipur & 30 years old & setting replicate typical Indian village - stone wall , lantern , floor & this ambiance will give you lovely feel for perfect family dinner or dinner with Friends , known well for North Indian dishes & Bengali , must try here famous Kababs , Sonargaon Daal ,Gilafi roti & Kulfi Faluda ,& at last they will serve Pan with typical North Indian flavour . you can explore good varieties of wine 🍷 . very prompt service by staff & nice hospitality (Thanks Vishnu staff ) . Not much expensive compare to five star property & money worth it . all basic hygiene maintained considering covid time .
